The chromosomal location of the active NORs has been analyzed by a silver impregnation procedure in theSteropleurus martorelli complex. A primary NOR, which is always present at the first meiotic prophase, has been found in each of the four described races. In addition to this, all races possess one or two secondary NORs which are less active than the former and can be occasionally shown. Usually only one of the two homologous chromosomes has been found to be involved with nucleolus organisation.These results are discussed in relation to hypotheses on the chromosome differentiation of this species complex. 相似文献

Role of progesterone on oocyte maturation in the egg-brooding hylid frog Gastrotheca riobambae (Fowler) 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In the egg-brooding frog Gastrotheca riobambae (Fowler), oocyte maturation is comparable to the situation of other frog species. In isolated follicles, progesterone induces only germinal vesicle breakdown (GVBD), while human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) induces GVBD and ovulation. In addition, defolliculated oocytes respond with GVBD to the treatment with progesterone, while hCG has no effect. As in other frogs, oocyte maturation in vitro depends on hormonal action and on the presence of divalent cations. In this frog, progesterone or a similar hormone conditions the brooding pouch for reproduction and induces pouch closure. Follicles from frogs with closed pouches showed GVBD after 15-17 hours of incubation with progesterone, while those from frogs with open pouches took 19-24 hours for GVBD. These findings suggest that follicles become stimulated for maturation when the pouch is closed and that this stimulated condition is maintained for several weeks in advance of the process of oocyte maturation. In G. riobambae, the external appearance of the pouch aperture indicates the reproductive condition of the ovary. 相似文献

Administration of an oral load of glucose did not change the rate of lipogenesis in maternal liver during late gestation. However, streptozotocin-induced diabetes or starvation decreased maternal liver lipogenesis at 20-22 days of gestation. Glucose intubation, on the other hand, increased foetal lipogenesis at 21-22 days. In addition, maternal starvation decreased foetal lipogenesis and plasma insulin concentration. However, chronic hyperglycaemia induced by streptozotocin administration to the mother did not change foetal liver lipogenesis. 相似文献

Summary Blocks of human normal renal pelvis and ureter obtained at the time of surgery were fixed in glutaraldehyde and osmium with or without ruthenium red, for electron microscopic observations. The transitional epithelium is arranged in three cell layers: basal, intermediate and superficial. All epithelial cells show numerous microvilli and contain the characteristic vesicles of transitional epithelium, bundles of cytoplasmic filaments, microtubules and numerous free ribosomes. The epithelial extracellular compartment is notably large and appears as an intricate, tridimensional network of canaliculi and cisternae which are wider in the intermediate and superficial layers and in which microvilli and cytoplasmic folds of vicinal cells are often attached or interdigitated. At these sites there are desmosomes.The surface of all transitional epithelial cells is covered by a fibrillar mucous coat which is more developed at the plasmalemma of the free border of luminal cells in which microvilli are also seen. Ruthenium red stains selectively the plasmalemma and the mucous coat of the free surface of the epithelium, indicating the presence of an acid polysaccharide. With this technic (Luft, 1965), it is observed, radiating from the plasmalemma, branching filaments which measure 100 Å in diameter forming a zone of varying density which is about 400 m wide and which corresponds, at the light microscopic level, to the luminal border of the transitional epithelial cells in which a sialomucin has been identified. The slender filaments have a beaded appearance. At the free border, superficial cells are attached by functional complexes in which tight junctions seal the epithelial intercellular space, which is opened at the level of the basement membrane where only desmosomes are observed.The ultrastructure of human transitional epithelium of urinary tract resembles the duct cells of the salt gland of certain marine birds (Fawcett, 1962) and the amphibian epidermis (Farquhar and Palade, 1965) in which there are active processes of transport. The mucous surface coat, selectively stained by the ruthenium red, contains a sialomucin (Monis and Dorfman, 1965, 1967).The ultrastructure and histochemistry of the mucous fluffy coat of man transitional epithelium and the observations of Porter and Tamm (1955), on the ultrastructure of preparations of the Tamm and Horsfall mucoprotein (1952) are bases for suggesting that transitional epithelium of urinary tract of man is the site of biosynthesis of certain urinary mucoids. The variations of the talar articular facets in 176 calcanei were studied and classified. Three types were considered: type A = calcanei with two articular facets for the talar head, with four subtypes; type B = calcanei with one articular facet for the talar head, and two subtypes, and type C = unique articular facies in the superior surface of the calcaneus for the talus. We found 53% (94 cases) type B calcanei and 46% (82 cases) type A calcanei. No calcanei of type C were seen. 相似文献

Reperfusion of rat kidney submitted to temporal ischaemia induces a decrease in glutathione content. Lipid peroxidation is not detected in kidney homogenates but microsomes obtained after periods of reperfusion longer than 60 minutes show increased malondialdehyde values correlated with high oxygen consumption and superoxide free radical generation. Microsomes obtained from kidneys submitted to 15 or 60 minutes of reperfusion are resistant to NADPH-induced lipid peroxidation but after 120 minutes of reperfusion an increased lipid peroxidative response is observed. Although the mechanism of the protection found in microsomes against the induction of oxidative stress in the first 60 minutes of reperfusion is unknown, it is postulated that this subcellular fraction plays an important role in the oxidative stress observed after longer periods of reperfusion. 相似文献

Membrane fractions highly enriched in chicken lens MIP (MIP28) were found to form ion channels when incorporated into planar
lipid bilayers. The channels displayed prominent unitary conductances of about 60 and 290 pS in symmetric 150 mm KCl solution and were slightly anion selective. For both depolarizing and hyperpolarizing voltages, voltage sensitivity of
the MIP28-induced conductance could be fit by a Boltzmann relation, symmetric around zero mV, with V
0
= 18.5 mV, n= 4.5 and g
min/g
max= 0.17. Channel properties were not appreciably altered by pH in the range of 5.8 to 7, although channel incorporation was
observed to occur more frequently at lower pH values. Calcium, at millimolar concentrations, decreased the channel mean open
time. Partial proteolysis of MIP28 to yield MIP21 did not appreciably affect single-channel conductance or voltage sensitivity
of the reconstituted channels. MIP28 was not phosphorylated by cAMP dependent protein kinase (PKA). Although unitary conductance
and selectivity of the chicken MIP channel are similar to those reported for the bovine MIP (MIP26), the voltage sensitivity
of MIP28 was higher than that of the bovine homologue, and voltage sensitivity of MIP28 was not modulated by treatments previously
shown to affect MIP26 voltage gating (partial proteolysis and protein phosphorylation by PKA: (Ehring et al., 1990). The existence
of such strikingly different functional properties in highly homologous channel isoforms may provide a useful system for exploration
of the structure-function relations of MIP channels.
