A growing demand for bioenergy from conventional forestry in Sweden will increase the need of nutrient compensation, that preferably should be made relatively shortly after harvesting and have no undesired side-effects. This study compared the effects of granulated wood ash (Ash), N-free, dolomite-based fertiliser (Vitality) and the green fraction of harvest residues (Residues) on the podsolic soil and soil solution of a young Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst) stand in SW Sweden. The treatments were applied three years after clear-felling and whole-tree harvesting. The soil solution was repeatedly sampled in the rooting zone 2–5 years after treatment. The soil study was performed 4 years after the Ash treatment and 3 years after Residues treatment and the last Vitality treatment (the Vitality treatment was applied on two occasions over 2 years). The Vitality treatment increased base saturation and effective CEC in the humus layer in relation to the other treatments, and also increased Ca and K concentrations in the soil solution. The Ash treatment resulted in higher exchangeable K concentration than Vitality in the litter layer, and Residues increased K concentrations in the soil water. No treatment influenced the KCl-exchangeable nitrate concentrations in the soil or the nitrate levels in the soil water. The results indicate that granulated wood ash could be used for long-term nutrient compensation without undesired short-term side-effects.  相似文献

The primary structure of Rose-ringed Parakeet hemoglobin β-chain was established, completing the analysis of this hemoglobin. Comparisons with other avian β-chains show variations smaller than those for the corresponding α-chains. There are 11 amino acid exchanges in relationship to the only other characterized psittaciform β-chain, and a total of 35 positions are affected by differences among all avian β-chains analyzed (versus 61 for the α-chains). At three positions, the Psittacula β-chain has residues unique to this species. Three α1β1 contacts are modified, by substitutions at positions β51, β116, and β125.  相似文献

Coalescent-based inference of phylogenetic relationships among species takes into account gene tree incongruence due to incomplete lineage sorting, but for such methods to make sense species have to be correctly delimited. Because alternative assignments of individuals to species result in different parametric models, model selection methods can be applied to optimise model of species classification. In a Bayesian framework, Bayes factors (BF), based on marginal likelihood estimates, can be used to test a range of possible classifications for the group under study. Here, we explore BF and the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) to discriminate between different species classifications in the flowering plant lineage Silene sect. Cryptoneurae (Caryophyllaceae). We estimated marginal likelihoods for different species classification models via the Path Sampling (PS), Stepping Stone sampling (SS), and Harmonic Mean Estimator (HME) methods implemented in BEAST. To select among alternative species classification models a posterior simulation-based analog of the AIC through Markov chain Monte Carlo analysis (AICM) was also performed. The results are compared to outcomes from the software BP&P. Our results agree with another recent study that marginal likelihood estimates from PS and SS methods are useful for comparing different species classifications, and strongly support the recognition of the newly described species S. ertekinii.  相似文献

MethodsThis was a retrospective observational cohort study on patients with adenocarcinoma of the pancreatobiliary system who underwent diagnostic core needle biopsy or surgical resection at a tertiary referral center. 409 tumor samples were analyzed with up to 27 conventional antibodies used in diagnostic pathology. Immunohistochemical scoring system was the percentage of stained tumor cells. Bioinformatic analysis, internal validation, and survival analysis were performed.ResultsHierarchical clustering and differential expression analysis identified three immunohistochemical tumor types (extrahepatic pancreatobiliary, intestinal, and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma) and the discriminant markers between them. Among patients who underwent surgical resection of their primary tumor with curative intent, the intestinal type showed an adjusted hazard ratio of 0.19 for overall survival (95% confidence interval 0.05–0.72; p value = 0.014) compared to the extrahepatic pancreatobiliary type.ConclusionsIntegrative immunohistochemical classification of adenocarcinomas of the pancreatobiliary system results in a characteristic immunohistochemical profile for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and intestinal type adenocarcinoma, which helps in distinguishing them from metastatic and pancreatobiliary type adenocarcinoma, respectively. A diagnostic immunohistochemical panel and additional extended panels of discriminant markers are proposed as guidance for their pathological diagnosis.  相似文献

Studies have shown that lion (Panthera leo) populations in West Africa are small, isolated and fragmented. In Nigeria, lions have disappeared from unprotected areas and are nowadays found only in parks and reserves where these populations may still decline. It is therefore urgent to obtain reliable estimates of population sizes at different localities. Direct observational surveys may either fail to count all individuals or count some individuals repeatedly and are therefore associated with unknown levels of estimation errors. More accurate estimates can be obtained if direct counting is combined with DNA‐based individual identification. As lions are difficult to identify individually, presented here is a method that can be a valuable addition to the existing census methods.  相似文献
