The heart rate variability (HRV) spectral parameters are classically used for studying the autonomic nervous system, as they allow the evaluation of the balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic influences on heart rhythm. However, this evaluation is usually based on fixed frequency regions, which does not allow possible variation, or is based on an adaptive individual time dependent spectral boundaries (ITSB) method sensitive to noisy environments. In order to overcome these difficulties, we propose the constrained Gaussian modeling (CGM) method that dynamically models the power spectrum as a two Gaussian shapes mixture. It appeared that this procedure was able to accurately follow the exact parameters in the case of simulated data, in comparison with a parameter estimation obtained with a rigid frequency cutting approach or with the ITSB algorithm. Real data results obtained on a classical stand-test and on the Fantasia database are also presented and discussed.  相似文献

This review provides an overview of the mechanisms evolved by arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi to survive in Cu-contaminated environments. These mechanisms include avoidance strategies to restrict entry of toxic levels of Cu into their cytoplasm, intracellular complexation of the metal in the cytosol and compartmentalization strategies. Through the activity of specific metal transporters, the excess of Cu is translocated to subcellular compartments, mainly vacuoles, where it would cause less damage. At the level of the fungal colony, AM fungi have also evolved compartmentalization strategies based on the accumulation of Cu into specific fungal structures, such as extraradical spores and intraradical vesicles. In addition to the avoidance and compartmentalization strategies, AM fungi have also mechanisms to combat the Cu-generated oxidative stress or to repair the damage induced.  相似文献

We present a method for early forest fire detection from a satellite image using the belonging probability matrix image. We have considered each satellite image matrix line as a realization of a nonstationary random process in the thermal infra‐red (TIR) spectral band and then divided each line into very small stationary and ergodic intervals to obtain an adequate mathematical model. Furthermore, the pixels of the satellite image are considered to be statistically independent; thus, any small interval of each line behaves, naturally, as a Gaussian stationary noise. In this work, we have, therefore, selected the latter as a mathematical model for modelling these intervals of a satellite image without fire, and then, we have determined the parameters of this Gaussian realization. So, when a fire occurs in this forest zone, we can use these parameters to calculate its belonging probability to the original image without fire. This probability should be very small because the fire, in any forest, can be considered as a rare event. As a consequence, we have presented a matrix image of the probability inverse of each interval for a better fire detection observation.  相似文献

Background

Pancreatic cancer stem cells (CSCs) are responsible for resistance to standard therapy, metastatic potential, and disease relapse following treatments. The current therapy for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) preferentially targets the more differentiated cancer cell population, leaving CSCs as a cell source for tumor mass formation and recurrence. For this reason, there is an urgent need to improve current therapies and develop novel CSC-targeted therapeutic approaches.

Methods

Hyaluronic acid (HA) decorated liposomes, containing diethyldithiocarbamate?copper (Cu(DDC)2), able to target the specific CSC marker CD44 receptor were prepared by ion gradient technique and fully characterized. Their antiproliferative effect was evaluated on pancreatic CSCs derived from PDAC cell lines or patients. To clarify the mechanism of action of Cu(DDC)2 liposomes, ROS level neutralization assay in the presence of N-acetyl-L-cysteine was performed.

Results

Liposomes showed high encapsulation efficiency and Cryo-TEM analysis revealed the presence of Cu(DDC)2 crystals in the aqueous core of liposomes. In vitro test on pancreatic CSCs derived from PDAC cell lines or patients showed high ROS mediated anticancer activity of HA decorated liposomes. The sphere formation capability of CSCs obtained from patients was drastically reduced by liposomal formulations containing Cu(DDC)2.

Conclusions

The obtained results show that the encapsulation of Cu(DDC)2 complex in HA decorated liposomes strongly increases its anti-proliferative activity on pancreatic CSCs.

General significance

This paper describes for the first time the use of HA decorated liposomes containing Cu(DDC)2 against pancreatic CSCs and opens the way to the development of nanomedicine based CSC-targeted therapeutic approaches.  相似文献

The present study addressed the question of whether count and mass nouns are differentially processed in the brain. In two different ERP (Event-Related Potentials) tasks we explored the semantic and syntactic levels of such distinction. Mass and count nouns typically differ in concreteness, hence the effect of this important variable was factorially examined in each task. Thus the stimuli presented were: count concrete, count abstract, mass concrete or mass abstract. The first experiment (concrete/abstract semantic judgment task) involved the interaction between the N400 concreteness effect and the Mass/Count condition, revealing a substantial effect between mass and count nouns at the semantic level. The second experiment (sentence syntactic violation task) showed a Mass/Count distinction on left anterior negativity (LAN) and on P600 components, confirming the difference at the syntactic level. This study suggests that the brain differentiates between count and mass nouns not only at the syntactic level but also at the semantic level. Implications for our understanding of the brain mechanisms underlying the Mass/Count distinction are discussed.  相似文献

Genetic manipulation of human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) is instrumental for tracing lineage commitment and to studying human development. Here we used hematopoietic-specific Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome gene (WAS)-promoter driven lentiviral vectors (LVs) to achieve highly specific gene expression in hESCs-derived hematopoietic cells. We first demonstrated that endogenous WAS gene was not expressed in undifferentiated hESCs but was evident in hemogenic progenitors (CD45(-)CD31(+)CD34(+)) and hematopoietic cells (CD45(+)). Accordingly, WAS-promoter driven LVs were unable to express the eGFP transgene in undifferentiated hESCs. eGFP(+) cells only appeared after embryoid body (EB) hematopoietic differentiation. The phenotypic analysis of the eGFP(+) cells showed marking of different subpopulations at different days of differentiation. At days 10-15, AWE LVs tag hemogenic and hematopoietic progenitors cells (CD45(-)CD31(+)CD34(dim) and CD45(+)CD31(+)CD34(dim)) emerging from hESCs and at day 22 its expression became restricted to mature hematopoietic cells (CD45(+)CD33(+)). Surprisingly, at day 10 of differentiation, the AWE vector also marked CD45(-)CD31(low/-)CD34(-) cells, a population that disappeared at later stages of differentiation. We showed that the eGFP(+)CD45(-)CD31(+) population generate 5 times more CD45(+) cells than the eGFP(-)CD45(-)CD31(+) indicating that the AWE vector was identifying a subpopulation inside the CD45(-)CD31(+) cells with higher hemogenic capacity. We also showed generation of CD45(+) cells from the eGFP(+)CD45(-)CD31(low/-)CD34(-) population but not from the eGFP(-)CD45(-)CD31(low/-)CD34(-) cells. This is, to our knowledge, the first report of a gene transfer vector which specifically labels hemogenic progenitors and hematopoietic cells emerging from hESCs. We propose the use of WAS-promoter driven LVs as a novel tool to studying human hematopoietic development.  相似文献
