1. The effect of neurotensin was studied in the isolated smooth muscle of the chicken crop. 2. This peptide induced concentration-dependent (10(-10)-10(-8) mol/l) contractions of muscle strips. 3. The response to neurotensin was not modified after incubation of the preparation with atropine, indomethacin, naloxone and tetrodotoxin. The neurotensin-exerted contractions are therefore probably myogenic. 4. These properties of neurotensin indicate a possible role for this peptide in the control of crop motility.  相似文献

1. The electrical potential difference (pd) and short circuit current (Isc) across the sheep colon descendens was significantly higher than across the sheep colon ascendens. 2. The ion equivalent of the Isc and the net Na+ transport from the mucosal (m) to the serosal (s) side of the short-circuited sheep colon descendens were identical, while the net Na+ transport across the colon ascendens exceeded the ion equivalent of the Isc. 3. There was a net m-s Cl- transport across both short-circuited colon segments, indicating that Cl-, like Na+, is absorbed by active transport. 4. Coincident hemophilia and idiopathic thrombocytopenia has been rarely observed. We report here on a young man with severe hemophilia A who was treated with concentrates of lyophilized antihemophilic factor for several years before he developed thrombocytopenia. An isolated thrombocytopenia coincident with reduced platelet survival, ample megakaryocytes in the bone marrow, elevated platelet-associated IgG, as well as remission after treatment with prednisone and splenectomy, suggest the idiopathic form of thrombocytopenia. In addition, defects in cellular immunity became obvious. A causal relationship between the application of blood-derived products and the development of the platelet disorder as well as the impairment of the T-cell system remain to be demonstrated.  相似文献

1. D-glucose transport across the intestinal brush-border membrane of the cat, a carnivorous animal, was investigated using isolated brush-border membrane vesicles (BBMV). Kinetic experiments were performed under zero-trans conditions (initial [Na+]in and [Gluc]in = O) with the transmembrane electrical potential difference clamped to zero. 2. D-glucose uptake by the BBMV was strongly stimulated by an inwardly directed Na+-gradient. Uptake under Na+-free conditions seemed to occur by simple diffusion. 3. The apparent kinetic constants (Vmax, Km) of Na+-dependent D-glucose transport were computed by forcing initial uptake rates at 0.002-10.0 mmol/l D-glucose to either a Michaelis-Menten type equation with a single or with two carrier-mediated components. 4. Best fit of the experimental data was obtained with the two-component model indicating the existence of two Na+-dependent carrier-mediated mechanisms. System 1 and system 2 differ with respect to the transport velocity as well as the substrate affinity constants with Vmax being 2.5-fold and Km being 5-fold higher for system 1 compared with system 2.  相似文献

Summary A non-mongoloid boy born to a mongoloid mother is described. He showed aplasia of the left 5th finger and some clinical and dermatoglyphic features frequently found in Down's syndrome. Chromosome analysis revealed few hyperdiploid but no G-trisomic cells. 1. Twelve adult pygmy goats were used to investigate the mechanism of vasopressin (VP) induced hyperglycaemia. 2. VP (0.4 microgram/kg or 0.75 microgram/kg body weight) injected i.p. produced a long lasting hyperglycaemia. 3. This hyperglycaemia was partly reversed by alpha-adrenergic antagonists with an affinity to alpha 1- and alpha 2-adrenergic receptors (phentolamine) or to alpha 2-adrenergic receptors (yohimbine). An alpha 1-adrenergic agonist (xylometazoline) produced a short-term hyperglycaemia. 4. The ganglion blocking agent hexamethonium also reversed VP's hyperglycaemic effect. 5. It is concluded that VP's hyperglycaemic effect in pygmy goats is due to an increase in sympathetic outflow and not to a direct action on the liver.  相似文献
