This report describes the “crater defect” in human spermatozoa, a malformation that consists of a nuclear and acrosomal invagination present in 100% of the cells, whereas tail structure and motility are fairly normal. Summary The Dacus oleae larva possesses four Malpighian tubules, two anterior and two posterior ones, which in pairs enter into a ureter. Before opening into the gut, at the level of the transition zone between the mid- and hindgut, each ureter is dilated into an ampulla.The anterior tubules are divided into four regions: distal, transition, middle and proximal ones: while in the posterior tubules only middle and proximal segments are detectable. The distribution of the enzyme systems is indicated in Fig. 3, while the ultrastructural organization which is typical of the cells composing the different regions is schematically represented in Fig. 1. According to the ultrastructural and enzymatic findings, and the discussion on this subject in the literature, the authors are led to assume that in the distal segment occurs the segregation of uric acid, urates and calcium salts. In the transition segment, and still more in the intermediate one, an indiscriminate transport of water and solutes occurs from the haemocoel into the lumen of the tubule by pinocytosis. A fraction of the catabolites is precipitated as chromolipoidal pigments. The transition stages between cytosomes and pigment are described. Along with secretory phenomena the resorption of useful substances occurs in the proximal region. A similar function is performed by the ureter. In the ampulla, which is characterized by a conspicuous system of deep tubular infoldings both at the apical and basal surfaces of its cells, a massive water resorption is presumed to occur. 相似文献

The spermatozoa of seven fishes belonging to Cyprinid family are examined. They have no acrosome, like all Teleost fishes, a spheroidal or slightly elliptic nucleus, always eccentrically placed on the tail, two variously oriented centrioles, and a postnuclear cytoplasmic region of various size that contains some mitochondria (2 to 10) and surrounds a periaxonemal postnuclear canal. The tail is of moderate length (from 36 to 60 μm) and contains a “9 + 2” axoneme: both dynein arms are present. Comparative examination of the spermatozoa in the seven species shows that significant differences occur among them, even when they belong to the same genus. These concern the tail length; the position of the centrioles, the proximal with respect to the central one and with respect to the nucleus; the number of mitochondria, which is in relationship to the depth of the postnuclear canal. In the uniform general pattern of the ultrastructure of the Cyprinid spermatozoa, each species is characterized by a particular organization of the sperm organelles; in this respect, the two species examined by us, Leuciscus cephalus and souffia, are more closely related, even if easily recognizable one from the other. From a phylogenetic point of view, the comparative spermatology of the Cyprinid fishes suggests that the mitochondrial number is a good character, which enables us to order them in a phylogenetic arrangement. 相似文献

Under the electron microscope, the spermatozoon of Branchiostoma lanceolatum shows a spherical nucleus deeply grooved along its caudal third, a bistratified acrosome enriched by plentiful subacrosomal material, two centrioles, mitochondria fused into a single mass surrounding the centriolar region which is highly asymmetrical, a 9 + 2 flagellum tilted with respect to the longitudinal symmetry axis of the nucleus. The spermatozoon of the Onychophoran Peripatoides leuckarti is described and compared with that of Peripatopsis previously investigated. The general shape of the cell is the same, with persisting typical characteristic of a manchette and of nine accessory tubules surrounding the axoneme. There is a difference in the mitochondrial derivatives, which are two and partially located in a nuclear posterior concavity. But the most significant finding is the presence of a thin, flat acrosome surrounding the nucleus, which is absent from the other species. Summary The heart of the lobster (Palinurus vulgaris L.) is a sleeve of muscle fibres, with the characteristics of the slow muscles of Crustacea: thin/thick filament ratio of about 6/1, sarcolemmal invaginations from which radial tubules arise, diads and triads formed by tubules and sarcoplasmic reticulum, large mitochondria, great amounts of glycogen. The muscle elements are not syncytial, but separated from one another by intercalated discs. The inner and outer surfaces of the muscle wall are ensheathed by connective tissue membranes made up of long-period (700 Å with 9 subbands) collagen fibrils, very low polysaccharide content, and no elastin. In a man with a pituitary prolactin-secreting adenoma almost only double spermatozoa were produced. These cells were almost completely enveloped in a unique membrane, a common bilocular acrosome capped two paired nuclei, and all the other organelles were double. After 120 days of treatment with 2-brom-α-ergocryptine the prolactin level was corrected, and only normal, single spermatozoa were produced. The authors suggest that a high prolactin level inhibits cell division. 相似文献
