Tomato is an important field crop, and nutritional imbalances frequently reduce its yield. Diagnosis and Recommendation Integrated System (DRIS), uses ratios for nutrient deficiency diagnosis instead of absolute concentration in plant tests. In this study, local DRIS norms for the field tomatoes were established and the nutrient(s)
limiting tomatoes yield were determined. Tomato leaves were analyzed for nutrients, to identify nutritional status
using the DRIS approach. One hundred tomatoes fields were selected from Chatter Plain Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
and the Sheikupura Punjab Pakistan. The first fully matured leaf was sampled, rinsed, dried and ground for analyzing P, K, Ca, Mg, Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn using an Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrophotometer (ICP AES). Plant tissue N and S were measured by the combustion method. The tomatoes yields were
recorded at each location. The data were divided into high-yielding (≥3.79 kg/10 plant) and low-yielding
(<3.79 kg/10 plant) populations and norms were computed using standard DRIS procedures. High-yielding plant population had a statistically greater mean S and Fe than the low-yielding population. The average balance index,
the sum of functions, for S and Fe were −11.04 and −5.17 which reflected deficiency of S and Fe. Plant nutrients

A series of novel indenopyrazole derivatives 2a‐j and 3a‐j were synthesized from the reaction of 1‐(4‐(hydroxy(1‐oxo‐1,3‐dihydro‐2 H‐inden‐2‐ylidene)methyl)phenyl)‐3‐phenylurea derivatives 1a‐j with hydrazine and phenylhydrazine, respectively. The obtained novel indenopyrazoles ( 2a‐j and 3a‐j ) were evaluated for anticancer activity against HeLa and C6 cell lines. Antiproliferative activity was determined by the BrdU proliferation ELISA assay; 2a , 2b , 2d , 2h , and 3h were found to be the most active compounds. The compounds were also screened for antimicrobial activity, and all compounds showed moderate activity against used microorganisms. 相似文献

Screening of different contaminated environments for polyhydroxyalkanoates-producing bacterial strains 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Total sixteen bacterial strains were isolated and purified from the samples collected from sugarcane molasses soil, sewage
water and long-chain-hydrocarbon-contaminated area of the Punjab University, Lahore, Pakistan. Tolerance to different antibiotics
was studied and strains showed multiple antibiotic resistance. All strains were characterized for Gram stain, biochemical
reactions and polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) production. Total fourteen strains were Gram negative and two were Gram positive,
while biochemically nine PHA producers showed affiliation to Pseudomonas, Enterobacter, Citrobacter, Bacillus and Escherichia. Screening for PHA production was done by Sudan black staining and nine out of sixteen strains exhibited PHA producing ability.
PHA production was optimized for different growth parameters, like nitrogen concentration, pH and temperature. PHA extraction
was done by solvent extraction method. Bacterial strains US1 and M1 accumulated up to 30% PHA of their cell dry weight on
PHA extraction by solvent extraction method. Bacterial strain US1 was identified by 16S rRNA gene analysis as P. aeruginosa (DQ455691). PHA production was confirmed by PCR amplification of 500 bp fragment from PHA polymerase (Pha C) gene; five strains from nine PHA producers gave positive results on PCR. Pha C gene fragment of US1 was sequenced and submitted to Gene Bank under the accession number DQ455690. The amino acid sequence
showed homology using the protein BLAST at 129–132 sites with different PHA synthases of the Pseudomonas sp. 相似文献

Little is known about the role of endophytic fungi against abiotic stresses and isoflavonoids (IF) contents of soybean. In
current study, we investigated the role of fungal endophytes on the growth of soybean under salt stress conditions. Pure cultures
of nine endophytic fungi were isolated from the roots of field-grown soybean plants, and their culture filtrates were screened
on Waito-C and Dongjin-byeo rice cultivars; for identification of plant growth promoting fungal strains. It was observed that fungal
isolate GMC-2B significantly promoted the growth of both Waito-C and Dongjin-byeo. GMC-2B was later identified as a new strain of Metarhizium anisopliae LHL07 on the basis of 18S rDNA sequences and phylogenetic analysis. Metarhizium anisopliae LHL07 inoculated soybean plants recorded significantly higher shoot length, shoot fresh and dry biomass, chlorophyll contents,
transpiration rate, photosynthetic rate and leaf area; under sodium chloride induced salt stress as compared to non-inoculated
control plants. An elevated proline and reduced superoxide dismutase and malondialdehyde contents in M. anisopliae LHL07 inoculated soybean plants demonstrated mitigation of salt induced oxidative stress. Furthermore, reduced abscisic acid
and elevated jasmonic acid contents in soybean plants confirmed that lesser stress was convened to M. anisopliae inoculated-plants under salinity stress. We also assessed the role of M. anisopliae interaction on IF biosynthesis of soybean, and found significantly higher IF contents in M. anisopliae inoculated soybean plants. In conclusion, endophytic fungal interactions with soybean can be beneficial to improve soybean
quality and quantity under salt affected agricultural systems. 相似文献
