Cryptic unbalanced rearrangements involving chromosome ends are a significant cause of idiopathic mental retardation. The most frequently used technique to screen for these subtle rearrangements is Multiprobe fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). As this is a labor-intensive technique, we used microsatellite genotyping to detect possible subtelomeric rearrangements in a study population. Out of the 70 patients we screened, three chromosomal rearrangements were detected: a deletion of marker D2S2986, a deletion of marker D7S594 and a deletion of marker D19S424. Background
Most aphid species complete their life cycle on the same set of host-plant species, but some (heteroecious species) alternate between different hosts, migrating from primary (woody) to secondary (herbaceous) host plants. The evolutionary processes behind the evolution of this complex life cycle have often been debated. One widely accepted scenario is that heteroecy evolved from monoecy on woody host plants. Several shifts towards monoecy on herbaceous plants have subsequently occurred and resulted in the radiation of aphids. Host alternation would have persisted in some cases due to developmental constraints preventing aphids from shifting their entire life cycle to herbaceous hosts (which are thought to be more favourable). According to this scenario, if aphids lose their primary host during evolution they should not regain it. The genus Brachycaudus includes species with all the types of life cycle (monoecy on woody plants, heteroecy, monoecy on herbs). The initiation of eukaryotic DNA replication is a highly regulated process conserved from yeast to human. The past decade has seen significant advances in understanding how the CMG (Cdc45‐MCM‐GINS) replicative helicase is loaded onto DNA. However, very little was known on how this complex is removed from chromatin at the end of S phase. This study aimed to understand the response of photosynthesis and growth to e-CO2 conditions (800 vs. 400 μmol mol−1) of rice genotypes differing in source–sink relationships. A proxy trait called local C source–sink ratio was defined as the ratio of flag leaf area to the number of spikelets on the corresponding panicle, and five genotypes differing in this ratio were grown in a controlled greenhouse. Differential CO2 resources were applied either during the 2 weeks following heading (EXP1) or during the whole growth cycle (EXP2). Under e-CO2, low source–sink ratio cultivars (LSS) had greater gains in photosynthesis, and they accumulated less nonstructural carbohydrate in the flag leaf than high source–sink ratio cultivars (HSS). In EXP2, grain yield and biomass gain was also greater in LSS probably caused by their strong sink. Photosynthetic capacity response to e-CO2 was negatively correlated across genotypes with local C source–sink ratio, a trait highly conserved across environments. HSS were sink-limited under e-CO2, probably associated with low triose phosphate utilization (TPU) capacity. We suggest that the local C source–sink ratio is a potential target for selecting more CO2-responsive cultivars, pending validation for a broader genotypic spectrum and for field conditions. 相似文献

The chemical investigation of the methanol extract of the whole plant of Gymnanthemum theophrastifolium (Schweinf. ex Oliv. & Hiern) H.Rob. (Asteraceae) led to the isolation of a new elemane-type sesquiterpene ( 1 ), a new acetonide derived polyacetylene ( 2 ) and a naturally occurring compound ( 3 ) from the plant kingdom along with sixteen known compounds ( 4 – 19 ). Their structures were elucidated by extensive NMR and MS analysis. This is the first report on the chemical constituents of G. theophrastifolium. Furthermore, compounds 12 , 13 , and 14 are reported for the first time from the family Asteraceae, while compound 9 is reported for the first time from the genus Gymnanthemum. Thus, the present results provide valuable insights to the chemophenetic knowledge of G. theophrastifolium, which is also discussed in this work. 相似文献

BackgroundStrongyloides stercoralis is the only soil-transmitted helminth with the ability to replicate within its host, leading to long-lasting and potentially fatal infections. It is ubiquitous and its worldwide prevalence has recently been estimated to be at least half that of hookworm. Information on the epidemiology of S. stercoralis remains scarce and modalities for its large-scale control are yet to be determined.Conclusions/SignificanceChemotherapy-based control of S. stercoralis is feasible and highly beneficial, particularly in combination with improved sanitation. The impact of community-based ivermectin treatment on S. stercoralis was high, with over 85% of villagers remaining negative one year after treatment. The integration of S. stercoralis into existing STH control programs should be considered without further delay. 相似文献
