Histopathology of experimental Aspergillus fumigatus keratitis   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Histopathological studies in rabbit's eyes, 7 and 14 days after intracorneal inoculation with 1×105 Aspergillus fumigatus conidia have been performed.Similar lesions were found in both periods with fungal hyphae in the anterior third of corneal stroma, round cell infiltration from the sclero-corneal edge and in the anterior chamber and, neovascularization.No lesions were found in the Descemet's membrane.Gomori silver-methenamine stain with hematoxiline-eosine counter-stain was found to be the most reliable stain to detect fungal presence in corneal stroma, and Masson's trichromic stain in the study of pathological changes in ocular elements.  相似文献

Thirty-eight strains ofDeleya halophila species were examined for production of phage after mitomycin C induction. Thirty-two of them were able to inhibit growth of some other strains. Phage F9-11, isolated fromD. halophila strain F9-11, showed an isometric head and a noncontractile tail. The effects of salt concentrations variation on the stability and replication of this phage were established. Its replication was possible at a wide range of marine salt concentrations, from 2.5% to 15% (wt/vol). Stability seems to be influenced by osmolarity of medium rather than by NaCl level. The euryhaline character showed by F9-11 phage is evoked as an important factor for the survival of this phage in its environment.  相似文献

Summary In a mineral salts medium containing yeast extract, NH4Cl and glucose (50g/L), the pH range producing the fastest growth ofZ. mobilis was 5.5–6.5 with an apparent optimum at 6.5. At constant growth rate of 0.15hr–1, the specific rates of glucose utilization (qs) and ethanol production (qp) were relatively unaffected by pH over the range 7.0–5.5 but increased sharply as the pH was further decreased below 5.5 to 4.0. Under these conditions the ethanol yield was unaffected by pH over the range 4.0–6.5 but decreased markedly at pH of 7.  相似文献

A multichannel model incorporating visual inhomogeneity is presented in this paper. The parameters that describe inhomogeneity have been experimentally obtained both at threshold and in several suprathreshold conditions. At threshold, probability summation is taken into account in order to determine the spatial extent of visual channels from experimental data showing an asymptotic increase in sensitivity with increasing grating area. At suprathreshold contrast, the region where luminance variations at several scales are visible has also been found. The results support a spatially limited multichannel model of early visual processing and set out a basis for studying perceptual phenomena from the viewpoint of linear space-variant visual processing.  相似文献

Summary We have worked out conditions for the study of competence development and genetic transformation in Streptococcus oralis NCTC 11427 (type strain), a species that contains choline in the cell wall. The peak of competence was found at the early exponential phase of growth and the optimal conditions for transformation were achieved with shuttle plasmids prepared from S. pneumoniae or from Escherichia coli serving as donor DNA. Transformation with dye-bouyant density gradient purified plasmid preparations followed first-order kinetics. The pneumococcal amidase can be expressed in S. oralis harbouring a plasmid carrying the lytA gene. This enzyme lysed the cell wall of the transformed cell in the presence of detergents.  相似文献

Summary The patch-clamp technique in whole-cell configuration was used to study the electrical properties of the tonoplast in isolated vacuoles fromAcer pseudoplatanus cultured cells. In symmetrical KCl or K2 malate solutions, voltage- and time-dependent inward currents were elicited by hyperpolarizing the tonoplast (inside negative), while in the positive range of potential the conductance was very small. The specific conductance of the tonoplast at –100 mV, in 100mm symmetrical KCl was about 160 S/cm2. The reversal potentials (E rev) of the current, measured in symmetrical or asymmetrical ion concentrations (cation, anion or both) were very close to the values of the K+ equilibrium potential. Experiments performed in symmetrical or asymmetrical NaCl indicate that Na+ too can flow through the channels. NeitherE rev nor amplitude and kinetics of the current changed by replacing NaCl with KCl in the external solution. These results indicate the presence of hyperpolarization-activated channels in tonoplasts, which are permeable to K+ as well as to Na+. Anions such as Cl or malate seem to contribute little to the channel current.  相似文献

The role and source of gibberellins (GAs) involved in the development of parthenocarpic fruits of Pisum sativum L. has been investigated. Gibberellins applied to the leaf adjacent to an emasculated ovary induced parthenocarpic fruit development on intact plants. The application of gibberellic acid (GA3) had to be done within 1 d of anthesis to be fully effective and the response was concentration-dependent. Gibberellin A1 and GA3 worked equally well and GA20 was less efficient. [3H]Gibberellin A1 applied to the leaf accumulated in the ovary and the accumulation was related to the growth response. These experiments show that GA applied to the leaf in high enough concentration is translocated to the ovary. Emasculated ovaries on decapitated pea plants develop without application of growth hormones. When [3H] GA1 was applied to the leaf adjacent to the ovary a substantial amount of radioactivity accumulated in the growing shoot of intact plants. In decapitated plants, however, this radioactivity was mainly found in the ovary. There it caused growth proportional to the accumulation of CA1. Application of LAB 150978, an inhibitor of GA biosynthesis, to decapitated plants inhibited parthenocarpic fruit development and this inhibition was counteracted by the application of GA3 (either to the fruit, or the leaf adjacent to the ovary, or through the lower cut end of the stem). Summary Phenotypic analyses of genetic combinations involving the gene extramacrochaetae (emc) reveal its participation in the differentiation of both sensory elements and wing veins. The study of near-amorphic alleles of emc in mitotitc recombination clones indicates that it also affects cell proliferation. These clones show abnormal sizes, shapes and spatial distribution. They differentiate extra sensory elements as well as extra veins. A gain of function mutation in the gene causes opposite phenotypes in both differentiation systems. The effects of the mutant on proliferation and patterning are consistent with the emc gene being involved in the transfer of information between neighbouring cells, which leads to the spatial expression of the achaetescute gene complex and genes involved in vein formation.  相似文献
