Temporal parameters of expression of the aspartate aminotransferase gene Aat-1 parental alleles were studied in early development of intergeneric reciprocal F1 hybrids of the bream, roach, and blue bream. When the first AaT-1 expression was timed to the early stages (late blastula-gastrula), the gene parental alleles were activated asynchronously according to the maternal types (blue bream x roach hybrids). When the first Aat-1 expression was timed to later stages (yolk sac resorption), the parental alleles were activated synchronously (bream x roach, roach x bream, and roach x blue bream hybrids). The pattern of activation of embryonic genes is determined by the maternal environment and the influence of allele interactions is not excluded: Aat-f/Aat-sl (bream x roach, roach x bream, and roach x blue bream) and Aat-sl/Aat-med (blue bream x roach).  相似文献

Fatty acids of twelve species of cyanobacteria grown under different photoautotrophic conditions were studied and their composition was compared with literature data of many other species. We have come to the conclusion that the lipids of cyanobacteria do not contain fatty acids with a chain longer than 18 carbon atoms. In our opinion, omission of an analytical procedure, i.e. purification of fatty acid methyl esters before gas chromatography, leads to incorrect interpretation of the results. Absence or presence of fatty acids was suggested as a useful taxonomic marker and a proper diagnostic indicator in the commercial application of cyanobacterial biomass.  相似文献

Zebrafish craniofacial, skeletal, and tooth development closely resembles that of higher vertebrates. Our goal is to identify viable adult zebrafish mutants that can be used as models for human mineralized craniofacial, dental, and skeletal system disorders. We used a large-scale forward-genetic chemical N-ethyl-nitroso-urea mutagenesis screen to identify 17 early lethal homozygous recessive mutants with defects in craniofacial cartilage elements, and 7 adult homozygous recessive mutants with mineralized tissue phenotypes including craniofacial shape defects, fused sutures, dysmorphic or missing skeletal elements, scoliosis, and neural arch defects. One mutant displayed both an early lethal homozygous phenotype and an adult heterozygous phenotype. These results extend the utility of the zebrafish model beyond the embryo to study human bone and cartilage disorders.  相似文献

Low-temperature resonance Raman (RR) spectroscopy was used for the first time to study the spectral properties, binding sites and composition of major carotenoids in spinach Photosystem I (PSI) particles. Excitation was provided by an argon ion laser at 457.9, 476.5, 488, 496.5, 502 and 514.5 nm. Raman spectra contained the four known groups of bands characteristic for carotenoids (called from nu(1) to nu4). Upon 514.5, 496.5 and 476.5 nm excitations, the nu(1)-nu(3) frequencies coincided with those established for lutein. Spectrum upon 502-nm excitation could be assigned to originate from violaxanthin, at 488 nm to 9-cis neoxanthin, and at 457.9 nm to beta-carotene and 9-cis neoxanthin. The overall configuration and composition of these bound carotenoid molecules in Photosystem I particles were compared with the composition of pigment extracts from the same PSI particles dissolved in pyridine, as well as to configuration in the main chlorophyll a/b light-harvesting protein complex of photosystem II. The absorption transitions for lutein, violaxanthin and 9-cis neoxanthin in spinach photosystem I particles are characterized, and the binding sites of lutein and neoxanthin are discussed. Resonance Raman data suggest that beta-carotene molecules are also present in all-trans and, probably, in 9-cis configurations.  相似文献

The effects of tripeptide corticoliberin fragment CRF4-6 (icv; 6, 30, and 150 nmol/head) on behaviour of rats were investigated under non-stressing and stressing conditions. CRF4-6 activated rat behaviour under non-stressing conditions (home cage): the duration of locomotion and exploratory behaviour was increased whereas the duration of passive behaviour and sleep was decreased. On the other hand, CRF4-6 suppressed the rat exploratory behaviour under stressing conditions (elevated plus-maze): the duration of non-exploratory behaviour was increased; numbers of rearings and leanings out to open arms were reduced. All observed effects of the tripeptide CRF4-6 were dose-dependent. Behavioural effects of the tripeptide were similar to the well-known action of the whole corticoliberin molecule. Therefore we suggest that CRF4-6 is located in the active part of CRF or it can be a physiologically active corticoliberin derivative.  相似文献

The review presents the recent data demonstrating the important role high-molecular inorganic polyphosphates in regulatory processes in a yeast cell. It has been shown that polyphosphates are localized in different cell compartments, where they are metabolized by a special set of enzymes. The review presents the evidence in favor of the concept of multiple functions of these biopolymers in a cell, as well as the data on the pleiotropic effects of mutations in the genes encoding the enzymes of polyphosphate metabolism.  相似文献

The Lethal giant larvae (Lgl) tumor suppressor family is conserved from yeast to mammals and plays a critical yet controversial role in cell polarity. Studies on Drosophila Lgl suggest that its function in polarity is through regulation of the acto-myosin cytoskeleton. In contrast, studies on the yeast Lgl homologs, Sro7/Sro77, suggest a function in exocytosis through interaction with the t-SNARE Sec9. Using yeast/mammalian Lgl chimeras, we demonstrate that the overall architecture of Lgl proteins is highly conserved and that the C-terminal domain is the major site of SNARE interaction within both yeast and mammalian homologs. Importantly, we find that the ability of Lgl chimeras to function as the only source of Lgl in yeast correlates precisely with the ability to interact with the yeast t-SNARE. We report a novel interaction between Sro7 and the yeast myosin V, Myo2. However, we find that interactions with either Myo2 or Myo1 (myosin II) cannot account for the dramatic functional differences observed for these chimeras in yeast. These results provide the first demonstration that the interaction of an Lgl family member with a specific effector is critical to its function in vivo. These data support the model that the Lgl family functions in cell polarity, at least in part, by regulating SNARE-mediated membrane delivery events at the cell surface.  相似文献

The influence of food-derived opioid peptides beta-casomorphines on the manifestation of nursing albino rats maternal behavior was investigated. It was shown that both acute and chronic (during the postnatal period) administration of beta-casomorphin-7 (Tyr-Pro-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro), the typical representative of this group of peptides, decreases the level of the parental motivation. The effects of beta-casomorphin-7 were naloxone-dependent; N-terminal-reduced analogues had a significantly lesser activity. The obtained results testify in favor of the probable role of casein opioid fragments which were formed in mammary glands of a nursing female, in the development of maternal behavior abnormalities. At the same time, beta-casomorphins could be considered as the limiting factors to the excessive manifestation of the parental motivation.  相似文献

Current data on glutamate-induced functional and morphological changes in mitochondria correlating with or being a result of their membrane potential changes are reviewed. The important role of Ca2+, Na+, and H+ in the potentiation of such changes is considered. Low-temperature resonance Raman spectroscopy was used to study the changes in the molecular structure and configuration of the major xanthophylls in thylakoid membranes isolated from mutants of pea with modified pigment content and altered structural organization of their pigment-protein complexes. The Raman spectra contained four known groups of bands, nu(1)-nu(4), which could be assigned to originate mainly from the long wavelength absorbing lutein and neoxanthin upon 514.5 nm and at 488 nm excitations, respectively. The overall configuration of these bound xanthophyll molecules in the mutants appeared to be similar to the wild type, and the configuration in the wild type was almost identical with that in the isolated main chlorophyll a/b light harvesting protein complex of photosystem II (LHCII). Significant differences were found mainly in the region of nu(4) (around 960 cm(-1)), which suggest that the macroorganization of PS II-LHCII supercomplexes and/or of the LHCII-only domains are modified in the mutants compared to the wild type.  相似文献
