Gastric metaplasia is one of the factors in duodenal ulcer appearance. The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency of gastric metaplasia and its connection with age, sex, cigarette smoking and H. pylori infection. In the study 216 patients were included. There were 98 patients with duodenal ulcer, 60 with duodenitis, and 58 healthy control subjects. There was no statistically significant difference in gastric metaplasia frequency according to age and sex. Gastric metaplasia was statistically more significant in patients with duodenal ulcer (p < 0.01). In all the subjects cigarette smoking did not significantly influence gastric metaplasia. In smokers with duodenal ulcer, and those who besides duodenal ulcer and smoking had H. pylori infection gastric metaplasia was more frequent (p < 0.01). However, in patients with duodenal ulcer, there was no statistically significant difference of gastric metaplasia related to H. pylori presence. It may be suggested that H. pylori infection is not of indispensable significance for gastric metaplasia appearance. 相似文献

A Western blot method (WB) was adapted for rapid screening of antibodies against coxsackie virus B1-B6 in sera from patients with newly diagnosed insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, myocarditis or febrile syndrome of suspected coxsackie viral aetiology. The use of a mixture of all 6 coxsackie virus B serotypes as the common antigen permitted a very rapid and inexpensive detection of antibody-positive sera for preliminary diagnosis and further detailed assay. The effects of gonadal steroid hormone, 17beta-estradiol (E2), in vitro on rat brain mitochondria Ca2+ movement were investigated. Intrasynaptosomal mitochondria Ca2+ uptake via an energy-driven Ca2+ uniporter have Km = 112.73 +/- 7.3 micromol x l(-1) and Vmax = 21.97 +/- 1.7 nmol 45Ca2+ mg(-1). Ca2+ release trough a Na+/Ca2+ antiporter was measured with a Km for Na+ of 43.7 +/- 2.6 mmol x l(-1), and Vmax of 1.5 +/- 0.3 nmol 45Ca2+ mg(-1). Addition of estradiol in preincubation mixture did not affect the uptake of Ca2+ mediated by the ruthenium red-sensitive uniporter, while it produced biphasic effect on Na-dependent Ca2+ efflux. Estradiol at concentrations up to 1 nmol x l(-1) decreased the efflux significantly (63% inhibition with respect to the control), and at concentrations above 10 nmol x l(-1) increased it exponentially. The maximum inhibiting concentration of estradiol (0.5 nmol x l(-1)) increased the affinity of the uniporter (Km reduced by about 30%), without affecting significantly the capacity (Vmax) for Na+. The results presented suggest that estradiol inhibits Na-dependent Ca2+ efflux from mitochondria and acts on mitochondrial retention of Ca2+, which may modulate mitochondrial and consequently synaptosomal content of Ca2+, and in this way exerts its role in the homeostasis of calcium in nerve terminals. 相似文献

Biomass production, leaf number and area, photosynthetic and dark respiration rates, leaf concentration of photosynthetic pigments, nitrate reductase activity, as well as cadmium concentrations in leaves, stem, and roots were measured in poplar clones PE 4/68, B-229, 665, and 45/51. Plants were grown hydroponically under controlled conditions and treated with two different cadmium (Cd) concentrations (10(-5) and 10(-7) M) in the same background solution (Hoagland's solution). The presence of Cd did not cause serious disturbance of growth and physiological parameters in the studied poplar clones. Cd concentrations in plant tissues reflected external concentrations. In treated plants, root contents increased from 38.57 to 511.51 ppm, leaf contents from 0.91 to 7.50, while stem contents ranged from 1.37 to 9.50 ppm. 相似文献

The chemical composition and the antimicrobial activity of the essential oil isolated from the aerial parts of Hypericum maculatum Crantz were determined. In total, 109 compounds were identified, with germacrene D (21.5%), nonane (6.5%), (E)‐β‐farnesene (5.3%), δ‐cadinene (4.5%), and ledol (4.4%) as the main constituents. The chemical compositions of this oil and of four previously studied H. maculatum oils were compared using multivariate statistical analyses, viz., agglomerative hierarchical cluster and principal component analyses. Based on the results, the interrelationship among the hitherto studied H. maculatum oil samples, including the oil characterized here, was discussed. The study of the antimicrobial potential of the oil against five bacterial and two fungal strains showed that the oil had mainly moderate antimicrobial effects. 相似文献

Background
Increased fasting plasma glucose (FPG), which includes impaired fasting glucose (IFG), impaired glucose tolerance (IGT), and diabetes, is a risk factor for arterial stiffness. While IFG is widely accepted as a cardiovascular risk factor, recent studies have argued that subjects with high-normal glucose level were characterized by a high incidence of cardiovascular disease. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between FPG and arterial stiffness in non-diabetic healthy subjects.Methods
We recruited 697 subjects who visited the health promotion center of a university hospital from May 2007 to August 2008. Age, sex, body mass index (BMI), resting heart rate, smoking habits, alcohol intake, exercise, blood pressure, medical history, FPG, lipid profile, high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), and Brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (ba-PWV) were measured. We performed correlation and multiple linear regression analyses to divide the research subjects into quartiles: Q1(n = 172), 65 mg/dL ≤FPG < 84 mg/dL; Q2(n = 188), 84 mg/dL ≤FPG < 91 mg/dl; Q3(n = 199), 91 mg/dL ≤FPG < 100 mg/dL; Q4(n = 138), 100 mg/dL ≤FPG < 126 mg/dL.Results
FPG has an independent, positive association with ba-PWV in non-diabetic subjects after correcting for confounding variables, including age, sex, BMI, blood pressure, resting heart rate, hs-CRP, lipid profile, and behavioral habits. The mean ba-PWV of the high-normal glucose group (Q3, 1384 cm/s) was higher than that of the low-normal glucose group (1303 ± 196 cm/s vs.1328 ± 167 cm/s, P < 0.05). The mean ba-PWV value in the IFG group (1469 ± 220 cm/s) was higher than that in the normoglycemic group (P < 0.05, respectively).Conclusions
An increase in FPG, even within the normal range, was associated with aggravated arterial stiffness. Further research is needed to determine the glycemic target value for the prevention of arterial stiffness in clinical and public health settings. 相似文献60.
A PlA1/A2 polymorphism of glycoprotein IIIa is known to be involved in the pathogenesis of coronary artery disease (CAD) and myocardial infarction (MI). The aim of this study was to investigate an association between the PlA1/A2 polymorphism of the glycoprotein IIIa gene and the risk of MI in Caucasians with type 2 diabetes. 549 Caucasians with type 2 diabetes were enrolled in the cross sectional retrospective case–control study: 224 patients with MI and 325 diabetic subjects without CAD. Blood biochemical analysis was performed. The polymerase chain reaction with restriction fragment length polymorphism was used for genetic analysis. Patients with MI were older (62 ± 11.8 vs. 58.5 ± 11.6 years; P < 0.001), and had a longer duration of type 2 diabetes (17.6 ± 8.9 vs. 15.1 ± 9.2; P = 0.01) compared to the diabetics without CAD. A significant difference in distribution of the A2A2 genotype of glycoprotein IIIa was not found between 224 diabetic patients with MI in comparison to 325 diabetics without CAD (11.6 vs. 14,1 %; n.s.). The diabetes duration and male sex were independent factors for the development of MI, whereas the PlA1/A2 polymorphism of glycoprotein IIIa was not. To conclude, The A2A2 genotype of the glycoprotein IIIa polymorphism was not associated with MI risk in Caucasians with type 2 diabetes. 相似文献
