The structure of eosin--casein complex was studied by triplet label method. Quantitative data on the quantum--mechanic exchange interaction between eosin centres and external quenchers were obtained. The dynamic state of water--protein matrix at -20 degrees to -180 degrees C with eosin as fluorescence and phosphorescence labels and natural chromophores of protein--tryptophane was studied.  相似文献

Summary The littoral stand of Glyceria aquatica (L.) Wahlb. under study was not a homogeneous living environment. In most of the factors studied there was a gradient, which led from the open pond water to the shore. As to the growth properties of Glyceria, this phenomenon may be explained by the various age of the stand and the trophic state of the environment. The gradient of the water properties may be explained by the combined effect of different isolation of water from the open pond, shading by vegetation, and decomposition of plant remains. On the basis of these factors it is possible to differentiate the part of the stand under the influence of the open pond (station D) from the isolated part (A and B). Between both parts there were transitions in several factors (station C). The part of the stand, which was influenced by the open pond water, had more favourable living conditions as compared with the isolate part, which was inhabited by different species of animals (macrofauna).
Zusammenfassung Der studierte Uferpflanzenbestand von Glyceria aquatica (L.) Wahlb. (Fig. 1, 2) war kein homogenes Lebensmilieu. Beim Großteil der untersuchten Faktoren wurde ein Gradient in der Richtung freies Wasser — Ufer festgestellt (Fig. 1, 2, 3). Bei den Eigenschaften des Wachstums von Glyceria kann these Erscheinung durch verschiedene Alter des Geleges und durch trophische Einflüsse des Milieus erklart werden. Der Gradient der Eigenschaften des Wassers kann durch gemeinsame Einflüsse der verschiedenen Stufen der Isolation des Wassers in dem Gelege von dem Pelagial des Teiches, durch Beschattung mit Vegetation und Zersetzung der Pflanzenreste erklärt werden. Auf Grunt dieser Tatsachen kann man einen Teil des Pflanzenbestandes, der durch den Teich beeinflußt ist (Standort D), von dem isolierten Teil (Standort A und B) unterscheiden. Zwischen beiden wurde dann bei einigen Faktoren ein Übergang gefunden (Standort C). Der Teil des Pflanzenbestandes, der durch den Teich beeinflußt war, hatte bessere Lebensbedingungen als der isolierte Teil und war mit unterschiedlichen Tierarten besiedelt (Fig. 4, Tab. III).

The bird pollination systems of the New and Old Worlds evolved independently, and differ in many aspects. New World plants are often presented as those adapted to hovering birds while Old World plants to perching birds. Most Neotropical studies also demonstrate that in hummingbird species rich assemblages, only a small number of highly specialized birds exploits the most specialized plants with long corollas. Nevertheless, recent research on bird–plant pollination interactions suggest that sunbird pollination systems in the Old World have converged more with the highly specialized hummingbird pollination systems than previously thought. In this study we focus on the pollination systems of the bird pollination syndrome Impatiens species on Mt. Cameroon, West Africa. We show that despite the high diversity of sunbirds on Mt. Cameroon, only Cyanomitra oritis appear to be important pollinator of all Impatiens species. This asymmetry indicates the absence of pair wise co‐evolution and points to a diffuse co‐evolutionary process resulting in guilds of highly specialized plants and birds; a situation well known from hummingbirds and specialized plant communities of the New World. Additionally, the herbaceous habits of Impatiens species, the frequent adaptations to pollination by hovering birds, and the habitat preference for understory in tropical forests or epiphytic growth, resemble the highly specialized Neotropical plants. © 2015 The Linnean Society of London, Biological Journal of the Linnean Society, 2015, 115 , 127–133.  相似文献

Systems Biology is an emerging research area, which considers mathematical representations of inter- and intra-cellular dynamics. Among the many research problems that have been addressed, dynamic modeling of signal transduction pathways has received increasing attention. The usual approach to represent intra-cellular dynamics are nonlinear, usually ordinary, differential equations. The purpose of the models is to test and generate hypothesis of specific pathways and it is therefore required to estimate model parameters from experimental data. The experiments to generate data are complex and expensive, as a consequence of which the time series available are usually rather short, with few if any replicates. Almost certainly, not all variables one would like to include in a model can be measured. Parameter estimation is therefore an important research problem in Systems Biology and the focus of this paper. In particular, we are interested in optimizing the sampling time selection in order to minimize the variance of the parameter estimation error. With few sampling time points feasible, their selection is of practical importance in experimental design. Finally, the theoretical results are supported with an application.  相似文献

A cation exchange matrix with zwitterionic and multimodal properties was synthesized by a simple reaction sequence coupling sulfanilic acid to a chitosan based support. The novel chromatographic matrix was physico‐chemically characterized by ss‐NMR and ζ potential, and its chromatographic performance was evaluated for lysozyme purification from diluted egg white. The maximum adsorption capacity, calculated according to Langmuir adsorption isotherm, was 50.07 ± 1.47 mg g?1 while the dissociation constant was 0.074 ± 0.012 mg mL?1. The process for lysozyme purification from egg white was optimized, with 81.9% yield and a purity degree of 86.5%, according to RP‐HPLC analysis. This work shows novel possible applications of chitosan based materials. The simple synthesis reactions combined with the simple mode of use of the chitosan matrix represents a novel method to purify proteins from raw starting materials. © 2017 American Institute of Chemical Engineers Biotechnol. Interactions between the biomechanical characteristics and pressure-induced active response of coronary microvessels are still not well known. We tested the hypothesis that pressure-dependent biomechanical characteristics of the coronary vascular wall are modulated by the active myogenic response and local vasodilators. We have utilized data obtained previously in isolated rat intramural coronary arterioles (approximately 100 microm in diameter), in which the diameter was investigated as a function of intraluminal pressure (Szekeres et al.: J. Cardiovasc. Pharmacol., 43, 242-249, 2004). To characterize the magnitude of myogenic response, diameter was expressed as percent of passive diameter as a function of pressure (normalized diameter; ND). In addition, circumferential wall stress (WS) and incremental distensibility (ID) were calculated. In control conditions, after an initial increase between 0-30 mm Hg, ND decreased substantially as pressure increased from 30 to 150 mm Hg. Correspondingly, WS gradually increased as a function of pressure (from 0.3 +/- 0.03 to 34.7 +/- 4.4 kPa) exhibiting a plateau phase between 40-80 mm Hg. In contrast, ID decreased and reached negative values (min: -104.9 +/- 21.9 10(-6) m2/N at 50 mm Hg). Inhibition of nitric oxide (NO) synthase by L-NNA decreased basal diameter (approximately 35% at 2 mm Hg), eliminated pressure-induced changes in ND, reduced the slope of pressure-WS curve, and decreased ID at lower pressures. Simultaneous administration of L-NNA and adenosine (which restored initial diameter, i.e. length of smooth muscle) restored--in part--the pressure-induced reduction in ND, reversed the pressure-induced behavior of WS to control, but not that of ID. These results not only confirm that in coronary arterioles wall stress is regulated by the myogenic response, but also suggest that there is interplay between the mechanical behavior of the wall and the myogenic response. Furthermore, the presence of NO seems to be necessary for maintaining a higher distensibility of intramural coronary arterioles allowing increases in diameter to lower pressures, which then activate the myogenic mechanism resulting in constrictions and full development of myogenic tone, as indicated by the presence of negative slope of pressure-diameter curve in the presence of NO.  相似文献

Selection of machine learning techniques requires a certain sensitivity to the requirements of the problem. In particular, the problem can be made more tractable by deliberately using algorithms that are biased toward solutions of the requisite kind. In this paper, we argue that recurrent neural networks have a natural bias toward a problem domain of which biological sequence analysis tasks are a subset. We use experiments with synthetic data to illustrate this bias. We then demonstrate that this bias can be exploitable using a data set of protein sequences containing several classes of subcellular localization targeting peptides. The results show that, compared with feed forward, recurrent neural networks will generally perform better on sequence analysis tasks. Furthermore, as the patterns within the sequence become more ambiguous, the choice of specific recurrent architecture becomes more critical.  相似文献

A method based on PCR-SSCP has been developed to detect presumptive Inhibitor-Resistant TEM (IRT) beta-lactamases in Escherichia coli. The capacity of this technique to differentiate genes from 11 control strains encoding IRT beta-lactamases was evaluated with PCR products digested with RsaI. All the bla(TEM) genes studied could be distinguished by their electrophoretic mobilities. Applied to 29 epidemiologically unrelated clinical isolates of E. coli resistant to amoxicillin-clavulanate (MIC, > or =32 microg/ml), the electrophoretic mobilities of the digested bla(TEM) PCR products were identical to those of the reference bla(TEM-1A) (6 strains) and bla(TEM-1B) (18 strains) genes. The remaining five bla(TEM) PCR products displayed SSCP profiles different from those of the reference bla(TEM) genes and their nucleotide sequence identified them as bla(TEM-1C) in one strain, bla(TEM-30/IRT-2) in two strains, bla(TEM-37/IRT-8) in one strain, and bla(TEM-40/IRT-11) in one isolate. Overexpression of the wild-type bla(TEM-1) gene, as detected by high-level resistance to beta-lactams and enzyme assay, accounted for resistance in the 24 E. coli containing bla(TEM-1). We report a simple one PCR step SSCP that can be used in epidemiological studies for rapid preliminary detection of IRT beta-lactamases; identification should be confirmed by sequence data.  相似文献
