Calcareous soils contain a high concentration of calcium carbonate (CaCO3), which influences soil properties related to plant growth. Humic acid (HA) and ammonium molybdate (AM) were added as treatments for calcareous soils at concentrations of 0.1, 0.5 and 1 g/l respectively. The pots were divided into three groups. The first set of groups were irrigated with AM, while the second set of groups were irrigated with HA. As a control, the third group was irrigated using only tap water. Many soil properties and plant characteristics were measured during the experiment. The results showed that most of the studied treatments aided to increase organic carbon of calcareous soil and improved sunflower height, leaf area and shoot and root biomass. All investigated treatments significantly enhanced carbohydrates content in the sunflower shoots, except the treatment with 0.1 g/l AM, while only the with AM (under all studied concentrations) significantly enhanced carbohydrates content in roots higher than untreated. Proteins content in the shoots and roots of sunflower significantly increased when treated only with 1 g/l HA higher than control. The amino acid content of sunflower roots enhanced when treated with 0.1 and 1 m/l HA and 0.5 g/l AM Evidently, acidifying materials enhanced the calcareous soil and increased productivity. 相似文献

Polyester textiles have been applied in numerous industrial applications. Polyester fibers are characterized with being excellent insulators to electricity, having excellent flexural and impact strength, ease of manufacture, low-cost, as well as having resistance to moisture and chemicals. However, polyester fibers cannot be stained due to the absence of active dyeing sites on the surface of the fibrous structure. Thus, polyester cannot be dyed after it has been extruded. Herein, we report the development of novel-colored polyester fabrics using plasma-assisted dyeing and anthocyanin natural probe for determination of ammonia that may cause severe harmful effects to human organs and even death. Anthocyanin was extracted from red cabbage and characterized. The water-soluble anthocyanin was fastened to polyester fibers by mordant (potash alum) to generate anthocyanin–mordant coordinative complex nanoparticles. Polyester can be treated with thin layer of anthocyanin probe after activation with plasma. The results showed excellent colorfastness, ultraviolet blocking, and antibacterial performance of the anthocyanin-dyed polyester (APET) fibers. The APET fibers showed great potential for developing a portable colorimetric device for an on-site detection of ammonia. APET displayed a detection limit of aqueous ammonia in the range of 25–200 ppb, displaying a change in color from purple (542 nm) to white (387 nm). 相似文献

Background:Oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) has an important role in the genesis of coronary atherosclerosis. Lectin-like ox-LDL receptor 1 (OLR1) contributes to the uptake and internalization of ox-LDL. Genetic polymorphisms have been associated with coronary artery disease (CAD). Here we explore the association of plasma levels of ox-LDL and 3′ UTR OLR1 (rs1050286) SNP with CAD risk and in-hospital adverse outcomes.Methods:A case-control study enrolled 192 patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), 100 patients with unstable angina, and 100 healthy controls. Baseline, clinical characteristics, and risk scores of the patients were determined. Plasma ox-LDL and other biochemical variables were measured. All subjects are genotyped for OLR1 (rs1050286) by RT-PCR with TaqMan SNP genotyping assay.Results:Plasma ox-LDL was higher with enhanced sensitivity and specificity in identifying patients with STEMI and was found as a significant independent risk factor for CAD in those two groups. Levels of ox-LDL were increased with increasing poor prognostic factors in STEMI patients that are associated with an increased incidence of some adverse events and in-hospital mortality. Elevated STEMI risk was associated with T allele of OLR1 (rs1050286) (odds ratio of 4.9, 95% CI: 2.6-9.4, p< 0.001). STEMI patients who have T allele exhibited higher risk scores, coronary multivessel narrowing, and elevated incidence of in-hospital major adverse clinical events.Conclusion:These results suggest that plasma ox-LDL, as well as T allele of ORL-1 (rs1050286), is associated with the increased risk for developing STEMI and the associated adverse clinical outcomes.Key Words: Coronary artery disease, genotyping, OLR1, outcomes, Oxidized low-density lipoprotein 相似文献

RbgA is an essential protein for the assembly of the 50S subunit in Bacillus subtilis. Depletion of RbgA leads to the accumulation of the 45S intermediate. A strain expressing a RbgA variant with reduced GTPase activity generates spontaneous suppressor mutations in uL6. Each suppressor strain accumulates a unique 44S intermediate. We reasoned that characterizing the structure of these mutant 44S intermediates may explain why RbgA is required to catalyze the folding of the 50S functional sites. We found that in the 44S particles, rRNA helices H42 and H97, near the binding site of uL6, adopt a flexible conformation and allow the central protuberance and functional sites in the mutant 44S particles to mature in any order. Instead, the wild-type 45S particles exhibit a stable H42-H97 interaction and their functional sites always mature last. The dependence on RbgA was also less pronounced in the 44S particles. We concluded that the binding of uL6 pauses the maturation of the functional sites, but the central protuberance continues to fold. RbgA exclusively binds intermediates with a formed central protuberance and licenses the folding of the functional sites. Through this mechanism, RbgA ensures that the functional sites of the 50S mature last. 相似文献

In severe cases of sepsis, endotoxin-induced cardiomyopathy can cause major damage to the heart. This study was designed to see if Vitamin C (Vit C) could prevent lipopolysaccharide-induced heart damage. Eighteen Sprague Dawley male rats (n = 6) were divided into three groups. Rats received 0.5 mL saline by oral gavage in addition to a standard diet (Control group), rats received one dose of endotoxin on day 15 (lipopolysaccharide) (LPS) (6 mg/kg), which produced endotoxemia (Endotoxin group), and rats that received 500 mg/Kg BW of Vit C by oral gavage for 15 days before LPS administration (Endotoxin plus Vit C group). In all groups, blood and tissue samples were collected on day 15, six hours after LPS administration, for histopathological and biochemical analysis. The LPS injection lowered superoxide dismutase (SOD) levels and increased malondialdehyde in tissues compared with a control group. Furthermore, the endotoxin group showed elevated inflammatory biomarkers, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6). Both light and electron microscopy showed that the endotoxic-treated group’s cardiomyocytes, intercalated disks, mitochondria, and endothelial cells were damaged. In endotoxemic rats, Vit C pretreatment significantly reduced MDA levels and restored SOD activity, minimized biomarkers of inflammation, and mitigated cardiomyocyte damage. In conclusion: Vit C protects against endotoxin-induced cardiomyopathy by inhibiting oxidative stress cytokines. 相似文献

Fifty broiler chicks were divided into five groups to study the antiviral and immune-stimulant effect of Allium cepa essential oils (ACEO). The effect of Allium cepa essential oils administration single or combined with NVD vaccine in broilers, more than one parameter was studied in this study i.e., the clinical symptoms that appeared on the chicks after the experimental infection with velogenic Newcastle disease virus, postmortem lesions, pathological lesions scoring, mortality rate (MR), and viral shedding, birds immunity was assessed by HI test and protection percent post-challenge with vNDV. Our result showed that mild clinical signs, lesion scoring, decreased viral shedding in ACEO treated groups 3 (G 3) more than control groups post-challenge with vNDV. Delayed onset of mild clinical signs in G3 followed by complete recovery 7th-day post-challenge (DPC). Low MR (40 and 0%) and high protection percent (100 and 60%) in ACEO treated G3 and G5, respectively. spleen, thymus, cecal tonsil, proventriculus, and cerebrum lesions scoring in G3 and G5 were significantly ((p ≤ 0.05).) lower than the control group, proving a decrease in NDV replication and effective antiviral activity of ACEO. HI titer significantly increased (p ≤ 0.05) In G3, G4 and G5 compared with control groups. There is no significant difference in HI titer in ACEO treated groups and vaccinated groups. In conclusion, oral administration of ACEO combined with NDV vaccines significantly reduces or eliminates lethal clinical signs, lesions, viral shedding, and enhances immune response and protection percent after vNDV challenge proving the natural antiviral and immune stimulant effect of ACEO onion extract. Implementing such a regime might aid NDV control in broiler flocks in endemic areas and reduce the epidemiological load of NDV in the environment. 相似文献

The light and scanning electron microscopic observations were carried out for anatomical features of leaf, pollens and powder.Microscopic studies provide useful information for identification and authentication of adulteration in A. maritima. Nutritional analysis of A. maritima revealed that life fundamental macromolecules such as carbohydrates (49.63 %) crude proteins (13.17 %) and crude fibers (21.06 %) were present in sufficient quantity while crude fats (4.11 %) reported in low quantity. The life essential elements such as Mg (9.472 ± 0.011), Ca (4.152 ± 0.135) and Fe (4.112 ± 0.002) were found in high concentration while heavy metals reported under the safety threshold of WHO. These observations favored A. maritima an alternative of food.Appreciable quantity of phenolics (17.64 ± 0.574) and flavonoids (7.67 ± 0.069) were found while qualitatively active phytochemicals were reported.The FTIR characterization of A. maritima crude powder revealed chromatogram in 3328.61 to 408.68 frequency range and 24 characteristic peaks on the basis of which different compounds of biological importance were classified. HPLC-UV technique quantifiedand identified six phenolic compounds morin,epigallocatechin gallate, catechin hydrate,ellagic acid, pyrogallol andrutin. Identification of compounds through GC–MS chromatogram revealed the presence of 46 compounds in methanolic fraction however 17 compounds of biological importance were selected.In-vitro biological evaluation of A. maritima for antioxidant, antimicrobial, antidiabetic (12.61 ± 0.113 %) and cytotoxic activities (LC50 = 20 μg/ml) suggested that methanolic fractions exhibited the highest activity as compared to chloroform and ethyl acetate fractions. The MIC values of 10 or 15 mg/ml were recorded for most of the fungal pathogens. Antibacterial activity revealed 3.75 mg/ml of MIC values against B. subtilis and 1.87 mg/ml against S. aureus, E. coli and P. aeruginosa. In-vivo biological evaluation revealed thatmaximum inhibition was observed for crude extract at 250 mg/kg body weight. The mechanism underlined in-vivo analgesic responses was carried out which revealed that naloxone (morphine and tramadol antagonist) showed no prominent effect while Glibenclamide pretreatment minutely modified the analgesic action.
