Relationships between viruses and their human host are traditionally described from the point of view taking into consideration hosts as victims of viral aggression, which results in infectious diseases. However, these relations are in fact two-sided and involve modifications of both the virus and host genomes. Mutations that accumulate in the populations of viruses and hosts may provide them advantages such as the ability to overcome defense barriers of host cells or to create more efficient barriers to deal with the attack of the viral agent. One of the most common ways of reinforcing anti-viral barriers is the horizontal transfer of viral genes into the host genome. Within the host genome, these genes may be modified and extensively expressed to compete with viral copies and inhibit the synthesis of their products or modulate their functions in other ways. This review summarizes the available data on the horizontal gene transfer between viral and human genomes and discusses related problems.  相似文献

Transmission electron microscopy was used to study the ultrastructure of muscle spindles (encapsulated stretch receptors) in m. soleus of adult Wistar rats after repeated hindlimb unloading. It was shown that the unloaded soleus contained not only spindles with a typical number of intrafusal fibers (four) but also spindles with five or six fibers. The increase in the number of intrafusal fibers in muscle spindles of the unloaded animals is likely to be caused by the proliferation of their satellite cells (myoblasts).  相似文献

Peptidomimetic analogs of the peptide RRASVA, known as the “minimal substrate” of the catalytic subunit of the cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA), were synthesized by consecutive replacement of natural amino acids by their aza-β3 analogs. The peptidomimetics were tested as PKA substrates and the kinetic parameters of the phosphorylation reaction were determined. It was found that the interaction of these peptidomimetics with the enzyme active center was sensitive to the location of the backbone modification, while the maximal rate of the reaction was practically not affected by the structure of substrates. The pattern of molecular recognition of peptidomimetics was in agreement with the results of structure modeling and also with the results of computational docking study of peptide and peptidomimetic substrates with the active center of PKA. It was concluded that the specificity determining factors which govern substrate recognition by the enzyme should be grouped along the phosphorylatable substrate, and such clustering might open new perspectives for pharmacophore design of peptides and peptide-like ligands.  相似文献
