Microbial assemblages were composed for composting hydrolysed lignin. Data on bioconversion of aromatic compounds with various types of substitution in the ring were used for this purpose. Composting of hydrolysed lignin reduced the contents of lignin, low-hydrolyzable polysaccharides, resins, and low-molecular-weight phenols and resulted in accumulation of humic acids. The possibility of the use of xylanase preparations for hydrolysing hemicelluloses in a non-bleached kraft pulp in order to facilitate its bleaching was studied. The effects of enzymatic preparations of the fungal and bacterial origins were examined, and the optimal conditions for xylanase activity were determined. UV spectroscopy demonstrated that the treatment of kraft pulp with the enzymatic preparations containing xylanase facilitated the subsequent removal of lignin and increased the brightness by 5%. The effect of enzymatic treatment was retained in the case of peroxide bleaching. The enzymatic preparations studied are promising for the development of chlorine-free pulp bleaching technologies. 相似文献

New 5-azole- and 5-oxime-substituted analogues of 2'-deoxyuridine are synthesized. The analogues with azole ring manifest low toxicities and antiherpetic activities on Vero cell culture, the imidazole derivative being the most active. The inhibitory effects of oximes of 5-formyl-deoxyuridine are comparable with those of the azole-containing nucleoside analogues, although their cytotoxicities are found to be higher; oxime of 5-formyldeoxyuridine is particularly toxic. The nucleoside analogues synthesized exhibit no marked activity on cell cultures infected with various variants of poxvirus. Background
Proteochemometrics is a new methodology that allows prediction of protein function directly from real interaction measurement data without the need of 3D structure information. Several reported proteochemometric models of ligand-receptor interactions have already yielded significant insights into various forms of bio-molecular interactions. The proteochemometric models are multivariate regression models that predict binding affinity for a particular combination of features of the ligand and protein. Although proteochemometric models have already offered interesting results in various studies, no detailed statistical evaluation of their average predictive power has been performed. Sensitivity of 179 strains of thermophilic Campylobacter to 21 chemotherapeutic drugs was studied. Activity of the antibacterial agents against the pathogens was estimated by the MICs. The MIC50 and MIC90 were also determined. All the Campylobacter strains were sensitive to gentamicin, chloramphenicol, neomycin, furazolidone and furagin and resistant to cefazolin, polymyxin E, rifampicin, vancomycin and bacitracin. Differences in the attitude of the Campylobacter isolates from various sources and patients of various age groups to the chemotherapeutic drugs were detected. At the period of 1980-1982 the isolation of salmonellae belonging to 394 serovars was registered in the USSR. Of these, 116 Salmonella serovars were registered in the USSR for the first time. 12 dominating serovars constituted 83.1% of salmonellae isolated from humans, 99% of salmonellae isolated from animals and 70% of all salmonellae isolated from different environmental objects. S. typhimurium was the predominant serovar, found to determine 50% of cases of Salmonella infection. The isolation rate of S. infantis and S. virchow was shown to increase. The existence of definite ecological relationships between infective agents isolated from different sources was established. 相似文献
