The course of biosynthesis of fatty acids in the seeds of winter rape (Brassica napus L. ssp.oleifera, f.biennis cv. T?ebí?ská) was investigated. After the termination of flowering seed samples were taken at five intervals, the seeds were divided into 4 fractions according to size, and their weight, water content, oil content and fatty acid composition were determined. The oil content was found to increase in all size categories with time, with the exception of a minute drop when complete maturity is reached. Larger seeds contained more oil. The fatty acid composition changes with time in the individual size fractions almost continuously. The same holds for differences between seed sizes of the same sample. The main change in oil composition consists in the decrease of C18 acids in favour of C22 acids. Greatest decrements during maturation were found with oleic acid, less with linoleic acid. In absolute amounts the quantity of all synthesized acids rises, the greatest rise being observed with C22 acids (i.e. predominantly erucic acid). It follows from the mean rates of synthesis of the individual groups (C16, C18, C20, C22) of fatty acids that the fraction of C22 rate of synthesis increases, while that of the C18 acids decreases with the same speed. The results indicate that the fatty acid synthesis is most intense during the second half of seed maturation, the main role being played by accelerating the synthesis of higher acids, especially of erucic acid. 相似文献

Lymphoid cells prepared from rabbit popliteal lymph nodes were cultivated in medium in which the high molecular weight component was replaced by Carbowax 20 M. This substance, in 0.2% concentration, proved to be a substitute for the high molecular weight component in short-term cultivation, and the viability results were similar to those in medium containing normal rabbit serum or 0.5% human serum albumin. In addition, mitoses and the formation of large basophilic cells resembling the blastoid cells induced during cultivation with phytohaemagglutinin were observed in this medium. The properties of 53 fermentation type II strains of the genusCandida Berkhout were studied. this extension of the classification criteria, the characteristics of the speciesCandida tropicalis (Castellani) Berkhout andCandida pelliculosa Redaelli were defined in greater detail.Candida intermedia, evaluated on the basis of previously employed characteristics (lactose utilization, non-assimilation of KNO3) does not appear to be a separate species, but a collection of different border-line forms of other species of this group.Candida robusta Diddens et Lodder is regarded as a member of the genusSaccharomyces, notCandida. The varietiesCandida tropicalis var.lambica andCandida pelliculosa var.cylindrica likewise do not seem to belong to the species concerned and will have to be studied in greater detail from the genetic aspect,

The strainCandida utilis T 20 adapted to a high concentration of ethionine, excretes considerable amounts of methionine in a synthetic medium, about 40 times as much as the original non-adapted strain. At the same time, the amount of methionine in yeast cells incrncreased, predominantly in the pool (9 times as much as in the control). This ability to produce greater amounts of methionine in the pool or to excrete it into the medium is not permanent, since after 5 passages on agar with ut ethionine the amount of methionine was practically not increased as compared with the original non-adapted strain.
