AimsThis cross-sectional study compared and contrasted the morphological characteristics of Class I, II and III malocclusions in an adolescent Saudi population.MethodsAdolescent Saudis with Angle’s Class I, II and III malocclusions were selected from orthodontic patients’ records. Angular and linear measurements were compared between the three groups. Cephalometric analysis was performed using the VistadentOC® software. Multifactorial ANOVA for angular and linear measurements between and within groups.ResultsOrthodontic records of 300 patients were included. There was no significant difference between and within groups in age and distribution of Angle’s classification, p > 0.05. Multifactorial ANOVA showed that there were significant interactions between gender and malocclusions in skeletal, dental and soft tissue measurements, p < 0.05. There were significant differences in the sagittal and vertical skeletal measurements between groups, p < 0.05. The dental measurements were also significantly different in most of the measurements (p < 0.05). Moreover, there were significantly different readings among the groups in the soft tissue analysis.ConclusionMorphological characteristics of adolescent Saudis show unique differences between gender and malocclusions, more so in Class III malocclusions. Class II and III malocclusions also show skeletal differences amongst the groups.  相似文献

A sensitive and selective phenothiazine-based sensor (PTZ) has been successfully synthesized. The sensor PTZ displayed specific identification of CN ‘turn-off’ fluorescence responses with a quick reaction and strong reversibility in an acetonitrile:water (90:10, V/V) solution. The sensor PTZ for detecting CN exhibits the marked advantages of quenching the fluorescence intensity, fast response time (60 s), and low value of the detection limit. The concentration that is authorized for drinking water by the WHO (1.9 μM) is far higher than the detection limit, which was found to be 9.11 × 10−9. The sensor displays distinct colorimetric and spectrofluorometric detection for CN anion due to the addition of CN anion to the electron-deficient vinyl group of PTZ, which reduces intramolecular charge transfer efficiencies. The 1:2 binding mechanism of PTZ with CN was validated by fluorescence titration, Job's plot, HRMS, 1H NMR, FTIR analysis, and density functional theory (DFT) investigations, among other methods. Additionally, the PTZ sensor was successfully used to precisely and accurately detect cyanide anions in actual water samples.  相似文献

Populations of aerobic and anaerobic heterotrophic bacteria occurring in the gastrointestinal tract of healthy rainbow trout were estimated using a dilution plate technique. Data revealed a progressive decline in numbers of aerobic bacteria along the digestive tract from oesophagus to lower intestine. However, the highest numbers were recovered from the intestinal contents and faeces. Anaerobes were generally restricted to the upper intestine and intestinal contents. The aerobic component of the bacterial microflora from the digestive tract was equated with Acinetobacter calcoaceticus, Aeromonas hydrophila, Bacillus circulans, Bac. megaterium , coryneforms, Grampositive irregularly shaped rods, Flavobacterium sp., Kurthia sp., Microhacterium sp., Providencia stuartii, Pseudomonas spp., Ps.fluorescens and Ps. pseudoalcaligenes . Evidence from scanning electron microscopy pointed to a general lack of colonization of the gut wall: instead, microorganisms were abundant in the intestinal contents. Antimicrobial compounds, i.e. oxolinic acid, oxytetracycline and sulphafurazole (which are commonly used to combat infections by Gramnegative bacterial fish pathogens), caused an increase in bacterial numbers throughout the digestive tract, with maximal numbers in the lower intestine. The bacteria, comprising an essentially different range of taxa, were generally resistant to the antibiotics in use. Conversely, erythromycin and penicillin G, which are used to treat some diseases caused by Gram-positive bacteria, caused a rapid reduction in bacterial numbers within the gastrointestinal tract.  相似文献

Given how crucial it is to preserve a human-safe and sustainable environment, the rapid discovery of possibly lethal heavy metals such as Hg(II) has drawn much attention in recent years. A novel sensor, known as (E)-2-((10-octyl-10H-phenothiazin-3-yl)methylene)hydrazine-1-carbothioamide (PTZHC), was synthesized as a fluorescence ‘on–off’ sensor for Hg2+ ions. Coordination alters organic molecule electron densities, quenching the fluorescence intensity. PTZHC was described completely with the help of FTIR and 1H-NMR spectrum studies. The Hg2+ ion was successfully detected using the PTZHC sensor even when there were other metal ions present. The limit of the detection was estimated to be 2.5 × 10−8 M and the Job's plot examination implied that PTZHC was bound to Hg2+ with a simple 1:1 stoichiometry in s CH3CN/H2O (9:1, v/v) suspension. To further cast light on the bridged effect on geometric and optoelectronic characteristics, time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) at the B3LYP/6-31G(d) level and DFT were both examined.  相似文献
