Definition and classification of the arterial hypertension in pregnancy are discussed. An emphasis is on the problems of differential diagnosis between pre-eclampsia and other forms of hypertension. Use of hypotensive drugs in pregnant patients with particular reference to emergencies is also discussed. The treatment of pregnant women with hypertension is still a problem which require close co-operation of both an obstetrician and internist. Follow-up after labour is GP duty to find out if the patient remains hypertensive. If so, etiology of the disease should be again searched. 相似文献

The effects of light and NO3- nutrition on
15NO3- influx in roots were
investigated in young, 19-d-old, induced tomato plants grown at a constant
air and solution temperature of 20C. Nitrate
influx was measured by 15N accumulation for 5 min,
on plants exposed to a wide range of exogenous concentrations, from 10 x
10-3 to 30 mol m-3. Influx
kinetics, fitted to the data following a non-linear procedure, showed
multiphasic patterns. The best fits were obtained when three pure and
non-additive Michaelis-Menten kinetics were applied, with phase transitions
at approximately 0.8 and 4 mol m-3. In plants grown
at 3.0 mol m-3 NO3-, the
asymptotic maximum influx rate (Imax) of each phase
declined during the night until 24 h darkness. At the end of the day
period, about a 2-fold enhancement of Imax was
observed when plants were pretreated for 3 d with 0.2 instead of 3.0 mol
m-3 NO3-. The influx rates
measured at any given NO3- concentration and the
Imax for any phase showed a negative non-linear
correlation with plant nitrate concentration. Furthermore, the results
suggest the existence of a set point, approximately 66 mol
m-3 plant nitrate, for which influx is null at any
given solution nitrate concentration. A model using modified
Michaelis-Menten kinetics is proposed to predict the influx rate as a
function of both solution and plant NO3-

Fischer-344 (F-344) rats differ from other common rat strains in that they
fail to show any preference for NaCl at any concentration in two- bottle
preference tests. Because 100 microM amiloride partially blocks the
NaCl-evoked chorda tympani (CT) response in electrophysiological studies,
we tested NaCl preference (0.068-0.273 M) in F-344 rats with and without
100 microM amiloride solution as the solvent. A third group was tested with
unadulterated NaCl solutions following CT transection. Amiloride had no
significant effect on the NaCl preference-aversion function, whereas CT
transection significantly reduced NaCl avoidance. These results suggest
that the amiloride-sensitive component of the NaCl response is not
necessary for F-344 rats to display avoidance of NaCl, but the entire CT
input is.

Background
Microarray-based pooled DNA experiments that combine the merits of DNA pooling and gene chip technology constitute a pivotal advance in biotechnology. This new technique uses pooled DNA, thereby reducing costs associated with the typing of DNA from numerous individuals. Moreover, use of an oligonucleotide gene chip reduces costs related to processing various DNA segments (e.g., primers, reagents). Thus, the technique provides an overall cost-effective solution for large-scale genomic/genetic research. Molecular evolution of mitochondrial 12S RNA and cytochrome b sequences in the pantherine lineage of Felidae 总被引:4,自引:2,他引:2
DNA sequence comparisons of two mitochondrial DNA genes were used to infer
phylogenetic relationships among 17 Felidae species, notably 15 in the
previously described pantherine lineage. The polymerase chain reaction
(PCR) was used to generate sequences of 358 base pairs of the mitochondrial
12S RNA gene and 289 base pairs of the cytochrome b protein coding gene.
DNA sequences were compared within and between 17 felid and five nonfelid
carnivore species. Evolutionary trees were constructed using phenetic,
cladistic, and maximum likelihood algorithms. The combined results
suggested several phylogenetic relationships including (1) the recognition
of a recently evolved monophyletic genus Panthera consisting of Panthera
leo, P. pardus, P. onca, P. uncia, P. tigris, and Neofelis nebulosa; (2)
the recent common ancestry of Acinonyx jubatus, the African cheetah, and
Puma concolor, the American puma; and (3) two golden cat species, Profelis
temmincki and Profelis aurata, are not sister species, and the latter is
strongly associated with Caracal caracal. These data add to the growing
database of vertebrate mtDNA sequences and, given the relatively recent
divergence among the felids represented here (1-10 Myr), allow 12S and
cytochrome b sequence evolution to be addressed over a time scale different
from those addressed in most work on vertebrate mtDNA.

The importance of sampling from globally representative populations has been well established in human genomics. In human microbiome research, however, we lack a full understanding of the global distribution of sampling in research studies. This information is crucial to better understand global patterns of microbiome-associated diseases and to extend the health benefits of this research to all populations. Here, we analyze the country of origin of all 444,829 human microbiome samples that are available from the world’s 3 largest genomic data repositories, including the Sequence Read Archive (SRA). The samples are from 2,592 studies of 19 body sites, including 220,017 samples of the gut microbiome. We show that more than 71% of samples with a known origin come from Europe, the United States, and Canada, including 46.8% from the US alone, despite the country representing only 4.3% of the global population. We also find that central and southern Asia is the most underrepresented region: Countries such as India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh account for more than a quarter of the world population but make up only 1.8% of human microbiome samples. These results demonstrate a critical need to ensure more global representation of participants in microbiome studies.The importance of sampling from globally representative populations has been well established in human genomics, but what about the microbiome? Microscope techniques, light microscope (LM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), scanning electron microscope (SEM) were employed to describe and classify coelomocytes of the oligochaete Dendrobaena veneta. Three main cell types were distinguished in the coelomic fluid: eleocytes, amoebocytes and granulocytes. Eleocytes are large, oval cells containing characteristic granules called chloragosomes. Amoebocytes are most numerous coelomocytes and have been divided into two types (I and II). Both amoebocytes of the types I and II often form aggregations of a few to about a dozen cells. Granulocytes are oval cells with spherical nuclei and cytoplasm containing polymorphic, electron dense granules. Contrary to the amoebocytes, the granulocytes do not form aggregations. Tropical peatlands play an important role in the global carbon cycling but little is known about factors regulating carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) fluxes from these ecosystems. Here, we test the hypotheses that (i) CO2 and CH4 are produced mainly from surface peat and (ii) that the contribution of subsurface peat to net C emissions is governed by substrate availability. To achieve this, in situ and ex situ CO2 and CH4 fluxes were determined throughout the peat profiles under three vegetation types along a nutrient gradient in a tropical ombrotrophic peatland in Panama. The peat was also characterized with respect to its organic composition using 13C solid state cross‐polarization magic‐angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Deep peat contributed substantially to CO2 effluxes both with respect to actual in situ and potential ex situ fluxes. CH4 was produced throughout the peat profile with distinct subsurface peaks, but net emission was limited by oxidation in the surface layers. CO2 and CH4 production were strongly substrate‐limited and a large proportion of the variance in their production (30% and 63%, respectively) was related to the quantity of carbohydrates in the peat. Furthermore, CO2 and CH4 production differed between vegetation types, suggesting that the quality of plant‐derived carbon inputs is an important driver of trace gas production throughout the peat profile. We conclude that the production of both CO2 and CH4 from subsurface peat is a substantial component of the net efflux of these gases, but that gas production through the peat profile is regulated in part by the degree of decomposition of the peat. 相似文献
