The increasing volumes of road transportation contribute to congestion on road, which leads to delays and other negative impacts on the reliability of transportation. Moreover, transportation is one of the main contributors to the growth of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions, where the impact of road transportation is significant. Therefore, governmental organizations and private commercial companies are looking for greener transportation solutions to eliminate the negative externalities of road transportation. In this paper, we present a novel solution framework to support the operational-level decisions for intermodal transportation networks using a combination of an optimization model and simulation. The simulation model includes stochastic elements in form of uncertain travel times, whereas the optimization model represents a deterministic and linear multi-commodity service network design formulation. The intermodal transportation plan can be optimized according to different objectives, including costs, time and \(CO_2e\) emissions. The proposed approach is successfully implemented to real-life scenarios where differences in transportation plans for alternative objectives are presented. The solutions for transportation networks with up to 250 services and 20 orders show that the approach is capable of delivering reliable solutions and identifying possible disruptions and alternatives for adapting the unreliable transportation plans.  相似文献

Background:The pathophysiology underlying the progression and development of autoimmune conditions, such as Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), is a result of dysregulations of the immune system. Research has explored the genetic alterations present in RA; however, limited studies have examined the role of Killer cell Immunoglobulin-like Receptors (KIR) and Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) molecules in RA. Therefore, the aim of this study was to examine KIR genes, their HLA ligands, and KIR-HLA compounds in patients with RA.Methods:In this case-control study, a total of 50 patients with RA and 100 healthy individuals were enrolled. DNA samples were evaluated using PCR with sequence specific Primers (PCR-SSP). Odds ratio (OR) with a 95% confidence interval (CI) were reported.Results:Among the KIR genes examined, KIR2DLA (p= 0.0255, OR= 0.389, 95% CI= 0.210-0.722) and KIR2DS4-full (p< 0.0001, OR= 6.163, 95% CI= 3.174-11.968) were observed to have a statistically significant correlation with disease susceptibility to RA. As an inhibitory gene, KIR2DLA was observed to have a protective effect against RA while KIR2DS4-full as an activating gene, was found to increase risk for RA. No significant associations were found between any of the other KIR genotypes, HLA ligands, or KIR-HLA compounds examined in this study to RA susceptibility. Conclusion:In this study of RA in the Lur population of Iran, KIR2DS4-full was observed to increase susceptibility to RA, while KIR2DL5A was found to act as a protecting factor based on both the cross Table and regression analyses. The synthesis of (1S,2R)-1-amino-2-indanol, a key component of HIV protease inhibitor is accomplished in four steps starting from indanone efficiently and with high levels of diastereo- and enantioselectivity. The starting material is converted into 2-acetoxy-1-indanone involving Manganese (III) acetate oxidation . The 2-acetoxyketone is hydrolyzed to 2-hydroxy-1-indanone enantioselectively using Rhizopus oryzae. Selective reduction of 2-hydroxyoxime derivative, derived from the 2-hydroxyketone, gives the amino alcohol up to 98% diastereo- and enantioselectivity.  相似文献

Enterobacter cancerogenus (formerly known as CDC Enteric Group 19; synonym with Enterobacter taylorae) has rarely been associated with human infections, and little is known regarding the epidemiology and clinical significance of this organism. We describe a community-acquired pneumonia case in a 44-year-old female due to E. cancerogenus. Identification and antimicrobial susceptibility of the microorganism was performed by the automatized VITEK 2 Compact system (bioMerieux, France). The clinical case suggests that E. cancerogenus is a potentially pathogenic microorganism in determined circumstances; underlying diseases such as bronchial asthma, empiric antibiotic treatment, wounds, diagnostic, or therapeutic instruments.  相似文献

Insufficient stand establishment at early growth stages in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) due to drought stress is a major problem that limits overall efficiency and yield of crop. Priming of seed is an effective method for raising seed performance and improving tolerance of crops to abiotic stresses especially drought. The seeds of two local wheat cultivars (Kohistan-97 and Pasban-90) were soaked in distilled water or sodium selenate solutions of 25, 50, 75, and 100 μM for 1/2 or 1 h at 25 °C and later re-dried to their original moisture levels before sowing. One-hour priming significantly increased root length stress tolerance index, dry matter stress tolerance index, and total biomass of seedlings; however, no significant effect of changing duration of Se seed priming was observed on plant height stress tolerance index and shoot/root ratio. Among cultivars, Kohistan-97 was found to be more responsive to Se seed treatment as 1 h priming at 100 μM significantly increased its total biomass by 43 % as compared to control treatment. Although biomass of seedlings was not affected with Se seed priming under normal conditions, but it increased significantly with increase in rates of Se under drought stress conditions. One-hour priming at 75 μM increased the total sugar content and total free amino acids in both wheat cultivars. A more significant decrease in soluble proteins of seedlings was observed by 1 h priming than 1/2 h priming under drought stress conditions.  相似文献

The hydroxyl group of poly(ethylene glycol) monoacrylate (PEGMA) was activated by 1,1′-carbonyldiimidazole (CDI) and then a xylanase enzyme was immobilized to amine active PEGMA. UV-curable polymeric support formulation was prepared by mixing the xylanase bonded PEGMA, aliphatic polyester, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA) and photoinitiator. After UV irradiation, the enzymatic activity of the polymeric matrix was evaluated and compared with the corresponding free enzyme. By immobilization, the temperature resistance of the enzyme was improved and showed maximum activity at 60 °C. pH dependent activities of the free and immobilized enzymes were also investigated, and it was found that the pH of maximum activity for the free enzyme was 6.0, while for the optimal pH of the immobilized enzyme was 6.5. The immobilized enzyme retained 75% of its activity after 33 runs. The morphology of the polymeric support was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) coupled with SEM was used to explore the chemical composition. The results have confirmed the evidence of enzyme in the structure of the polymeric material.  相似文献

In this study, a combined system of soil washing and electrodeposition was designed to remove Pb (16381±643 mg/kg) and Cd (34347±1310 mg/kg) from contaminated soil. 0.05 M Na2EDTA was used as a chelating agent for the remediation of soil, taken from the nearby city Kayseri, Turkey. As a result of the batch extraction tests, maximum removals were determined as; at the 20:1 liquid: soil ratio for Pb is 60.7%, for Cd at the 30:1 liquid: soil ratio is 67.4%. An electrochemical treatment was applied to the waste washing solution which appeared to be the second pollutant after the Na2EDTA extraction from the soil. With extraction tests of Pb and Cd, being transformed from the solid phase to the liquid phase. The electrochemical treatment (electrodeposition), performed in three different potential (6 V, 8 V and 10 V) and maximum removal efficiencies, were found 99.7% and 80.3% at 10 V for Pb and Cd, respectively.

Speciation tests (BCR) were carried out, both before and after the soil washing process, to evaluate the redistribution of metal fraction in the soil. The fraction, associated with the organic substance, was found as 10.67% for Pb and 1.81% for Cd. The metal bioavailability factor increased after soil washing, which indicates that EDTA could enhance the mobility of Pb and Cd.  相似文献

Identification of stem cell-like brain tumor cells (brain tumor stem-like cells; BTSC) has gained substantial attention by scientists and physicians. However, the mechanism of tumor initiation and proliferation is still poorly understood. CD44 is a cell surface protein linked to tumorigenesis in various cancers. In particular, one of its variant isoforms, CD44v6, is associated with several cancer types. To date its expression and function in BTSC is yet to be identified. Here, we demonstrate the presence and function of the variant form 6 of CD44 (CD44v6) in BTSC of a subset of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). Patients with CD44(high) GBM exhibited significantly poorer prognoses. Among various variant forms, CD44v6 was the only isoform that was detected in BTSC and its knockdown inhibited in vitro growth of BTSC from CD44(high) GBM but not from CD44(low) GBM. In contrast, this siRNA-mediated growth inhibition was not apparent in the matched GBM sample that does not possess stem-like properties. Stimulation with a CD44v6 ligand, osteopontin (OPN), increased expression of phosphorylated AKT in CD44(high) GBM, but not in CD44(low) GBM. Lastly, in a mouse spontaneous intracranial tumor model, CD44v6 was abundantly expressed by tumor precursors, in contrast to no detectable CD44v6 expression in normal neural precursors. Furthermore, overexpression of mouse CD44v6 or OPN, but not its dominant negative form, resulted in enhanced growth of the mouse tumor stem-like cells in vitro. Collectively, these data indicate that a subset of GBM expresses high CD44 in BTSC, and its growth may depend on CD44v6/AKT pathway.  相似文献

We have explored the action of zoledronic acid, which has an apoptotic effect and is used as an agent for treating skeletal metastases and osteoporosis, in the presence of vinblastine, and whether this effect is associated with MRP-1 (multidrug resistance protein-1) expression. HEK (human embryonic kidney) 293 cells were transfected to form the multidrug resistant cell line designated 293MRP (MRP-1 expressing HEK293 cells). Both lines were treated with varying concentrations of vinblastine and zoledronic acid. Apoptosis was determined by the TUNEL (deoxyuridine triphosphate nick end-labeling) method. The type of treatment, MRP-1 expression status, and the type of treatment with respect to MRP-1 expression status significantly affected (P < 0.001) the degree of apoptosis. The largest increase in cytotoxicity was noted in HEK293 cells, when 100 micromol zoledronic acid was added to 4 microg/ml vinblastine (an increment of 80.3%, P < 0.001). This preliminary work shows that zoledronic acid acts synergistically with vinblastine to induce apoptosis in an MRP-1 dependent way.  相似文献
