Prostaglandin profiles in nervous tissue and blood vessels of the brain of various animals 总被引:8,自引:0,他引:8
The endogenous formation of prostaglandin (PG) D2, E2, F2 alpha, and 6-keto-PGF1 alpha was determined in homogenates of mouse, rat, and rabbit brain, and of rat cerebral blood vessels, using gas chromatography mass spectrometry. In all species tested, 6-keto-PGF1 alpha could be identified in the brain homogenates, but was a minor component in relation to other PGs. In contrast 6-keto-PGF1 alpha was the most abundant PG in the blood vessels, being present in about 40-fold higher levels than in the brain tissue. PGD2 was the most abundant PG in rat and mouse brains, but was below detection limits in the analyzed blood vessels. These studies indicating differential metabolism of PG endoperoxides in nervous and vascular tissue, provide a biochemical basis for further studies on the role of the PGs in brain circulation and neuronal activity. 相似文献

Pulmonary insufficiency secondary to outflow tract reconstruction remains an unsolved problem. Although a number of surgical techniques have been designed to avoid or palliate this condition, none so far has been satisfactory. This report describes a new composite stented porcine monocusp patch, which, because of its desirable hemodynamic characteristics, promises to yield stable and reproducible results. Triglyceride-rich lipoproteins from adult rat plasma were labelled in vivo with 3H in the esterified fatty acids and 14C in the labelled glyceride glycerol of neutral lipids by injecting i.v. sodium 9-10 (n)-[3H] palmitate and [U-14C] glycerol, after which the prelabelled lipoproteins were purified by ultracentrifugation and dialysis. The lipoproteins were incubated in vitro, in the presence or not of heparin, with pieces of epididymal fat pads or isolated adipocytes from fed rats. The disappearance of both [3H]- and [14C] lipids from the media was greater when incubations were performed with adipocytes than with fat-pad pieces and it increased with heparin in both preparations. More 3H-label than 14C was found in the tissue lipids, a higher percentage being present in adipocytes than in fat-pad pieces, and the amount of label in tissue lipids was always enhanced by heparin. Some 14C-label appeared as esterified fatty acids in both tissue preparations and it also was enhanced by the presence of heparin. These findings are in agreement with the recognized influence of heparin on the release of lipoprotein lipase and show the direct relationship between heparin action and tissue ability to take up products of lipoprotein triglyceride breakdown. They also demonstrate the ability of adipose tissue to metabolize glycerol coming from the hydrolysis of lipoprotein glycerides. 相似文献

Preparations of RuBP carboxylase are shown to carry out an oxygen dependent decarboxylation of L-3-phosphoglyceric acid. The product of this reaction is probably phosphoglycollate. African swine fever virus DNA sediments in neutral sucrose density gradients as a single component with a sedimentation coefficient of 60S. In alkaline sucrose density gradients, this material shows two components with sedimentation coefficients of 85S and 95S, respectively. The sedimentation rate value of alkali-denatured virus DNA in neutral sucrose density gradients and the renaturation velocity of denatured DNA show that is reassociated much faster than expected from its genetic complexity. This behavior is compatible with the existence of interstrand cross-links in the molecule. We also present results which suggest that there are only a few such cross-links per molecule, that they are sensitive to S1 nuclease digestion, and that they are probably located next to the ends of the DNA. 相似文献

Summary The present study is an attempt to understand biology of Palicourea riparia Bentham relative to the process of recovery following disturbance in a tropical rain forest in Puerto Rico. In this species seed germination and seedling maintenance are favored by environmental conditions associated with disturbance, yet germination and seedling persistence are significant in undisturbed forest conditions. The pattern of seed germination indicates that (1) the seeds possess a dormancy mechanism, (2) dormany is not evenly distributed within a seed population, and (3) some seeds can remain viable if buried in the soil for at least three years. Results from reciprocal transplant studies indicate that there has been no differentiation into growth ecotypes in this species. Photosynthetic rates are very low under both field and laboratory conditions. In the laboratory, photosynthetic rates are consistently enhanced by increases in light intensity. It is concluded that P. riparia is a species of wide ecological amplitude that acts as a gap opportunist. 相似文献
