Striped hamsters (Cricetulus barabensis sensu lato) represent a complex of chromosomally distinct allopatric lineages/taxa of either species or subspecies rank. They are widely distributed across the steppes of eastern and central Palearctic. Phylogenetic analysis of cytochrome b gene sequences based on 496 specimens from 112 localities revealed five well‐supported lineages divergent at 2%–4%. Two of them correspond to “griseus” (2n = 22) and “pseudogriseus” (2n = 24) karyomorphs and are placed as sister taxa. The “barabensis” (2n = 20) karyomorph is represented by three other branches and appears non‐monophyletic. All mtDNA lineages are distributed allopatrically or parapatrically; no indications of gene flow between populations of different chromosomal races were found. The results of the molecular clock analysis suggest that the main lineages diverged in the late Middle Pleistocene. The inferred evolutionary scenario implies that the common ancestor of the recent lineages belonged to the 2n = 20 karyomorph and originated in the eastern part of the contemporary range.  相似文献

Phosphoglucomutase (EC 2.7.5.1, PGM) was purified to homogeneity from maize (Zea mays L.) leaves. The enzyme had specific activity 11. 7 U/mg protein and molecular mass (determined by gel-chromatography) of 133 +/- 4 kD. The molecular mass of PGM subunits determined by SDS-electrophoresis was 66 +/- 3 kD. The enzyme had Km for glucose-1-phosphate and glucose-1,6-diphosphate of 20.0 +/- 0.9 and 16.0 +/- 0.8 &mgr;M, respectively. Concentrations of glucose-1-phosphate and glucose-1,6-diphosphate above 3 and 0.4 mM, respectively, cause substrate inhibition. The enzyme activity was maximal at pH 8.0 and temperature 35 degreesC. Magnesium ions activate the enzyme and manganese ions inhibit it. 3-Phosphoglycerate is an uncompetitive inhibitor of the enzyme (Ki = 1.22 +/- 0.05 mM). Fructose-6-phosphate, 6-phosphogluconate, and ADP activate PGM, whereas ATP, UTP, and AMP inhibit the enzyme. Citrate was also a potent inhibitor, inhibitory effects of isocitrate and cis-aconitate being less pronounced.  相似文献

The polymerase chain reaction with arbitrary primers (RAPD-PCR) was used to study intraspecific variation in Mediterranean turtle Testudo graeca, which is represented by the Dagestan (T. g. pallasi) and Nikolskii (T. g. nikolskii) subspecies in Russia. To study the phylogenetic relationships, the RAPD variation was also compared in two other T. graeca subspecies (T. g. ibera and T. g. terrestris), two closely related Testudo species (T. kleinmanni and T. marginata), and Central Asian turtle Agrionemys horsfieldii. Parameters of RAPD variation showed that the sample from different geographical regions of Dagestan was more polymorphic and heterogeneous than that from Central Asia. The two samples differed in the mean number of RAPD fragments N (48.761 vs. 40.400), number of polymorphic fragments P (78.7 vs. 32.3), and within-group similarity index APS (0.607 vs. 0.784). In T. g. pallasi, no significant difference in N, P, or APS was observed between samples from different localities of Dagestan or between groups of turtles with four- or five-clawed forelegs. A dendrogram of genetic similarity between the species and subspecies under study contained two clusters, one comprising all A. horsfieldii individuals and the other, all turtles of the genus Testudo. In the latter, T. marginata and T. kleinmanni showed higher similarity to each other than to T. graeca. The four T. graeca subspecies clustered separately from each other with a high reliability, T. g. nikolskii and T. g. ibera (Turkey) being more similar to each other than to T. g. terrestris or T. g. pallasi. The possible causes of the presence of four claws on a foreleg and the relationships among members of the genus Testudo were discussed.  相似文献

The total population density and the biomass of bacterioplankton, mesozooplankton, and phosphate-accumulating bacteria (PAB) were estimated during the 2000-2001 summer-autumn seasons in the coastal waters of the White and Barents Seas, which are subjects to the action of tidal and sea currents, the inflow of riverine waters, and anthropogenic impact. In the shallow estuarine waters with salinities of 6.5-32@1000 near the Chernaya, Pesha, and Pechora River mouths, the population of PAB fluctuated from 0.1 to 9.1 million cells/ml (0-36% of the total bacterial population). In pelagic seawaters, which are low in phosphates (12-50 micrograms/l) and are characterized by an increased iron/phosphorus ratio (2.0-3.6), bacterioplankton amounted to 0.1-1.6 million cells/ml and was mainly represented by small organisms with a volume of 0.08-0.15 micron 3, commonly lacking intracellular polyphosphates. In the pelagic zone of the Barents Sea, the biomass of mesozooplankton (Bz) was comparable with that of bacterioplankton (Bb = 39-175 mg/m3), the Bb/Bz ratio being 1.4-4.6. Off the Varandeiskii, Pechora, and Kolguyev oil terminals, Bb increased to 155-300 mg/m3 and the Bb/Bz ratio rose to 1.4 to 50.3 (with an average value of 20.9), presumably due to the severe anthropogenic impact on these waters. In this case, the dense population of bacterioplankton (0.9-7.6 million cells/ml) was mainly represented by large cells (0.12-0.76 micron 3 in volume), most of which (3-43% of the total bacterioplankton population) contained polyphosphates. The chemical composition of these waters was characterized by an elevated content of the total phosphorus (65-128 micrograms/l) and by a low iron/phosphorus ratio (0.9-1.2).  相似文献

The Netherlands is "well known" for its nitrogen problems; it has one of the highest reactive nitrogen (Nr) emission densities in the world. It is a small country at the delta of several large European rivers. Ever since the industrial revolution, there has been a growing excess of nutrients and related emissions into the atmosphere (ammonia, nitrogen oxides and nitrous oxide) and into groundwater and surface water (nitrate), leading to a large range of cascading environmental impacts. Vehicular traffic, sewage and animal husbandry are the main sources of oxidized and reduced forms of Nr. This paper provides an overview of the origin and fate of nitrogen in the Netherlands, the various reported impacts of nitrogen, the Dutch and European policies to reduce nitrogen emissions and related impacts. In addition, ways are presented to go forward to potentially solve the problems in a European perspective. Solutions include the improvement of nitrogen efficiencies in different systems, technological options and education.  相似文献
