Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive patients have a greater prevalence ofcoinfection with human papillomavirus (HPV) is of high oncogenic risk. Indeed, thepresence of the virus favours intraepithelial squamous cell lesion progression andmay induce cancer. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of HPVinfection, distribution of HPV types and risk factors among HIV-positive patients.Cervical samples from 450 HIV-positive patients were analysed with regard to oncoticcytology, colposcopy and HPV presence and type by means of polymerase chain reactionand sequencing. The results were analysed by comparing demographic data and datarelating to HPV and HIV infection. The prevalence of HPV was 47.5%. Among theHPV-positive samples, 59% included viral types of high oncogenic risk. Multivariateanalysis showed an association between HPV infection and the presence of cytologicalalterations (p = 0.003), age greater than or equal to 35 years (p = 0.002), number ofpartners greater than three (p = 0.002), CD4+ lymphocyte count <200/mm3 (p = 0.041) and alcohol abuse (p = 0.004). Although high-riskHPV was present in the majority of the lesions studied, the low frequency of HPV 16(3.3%), low occurrence of cervical lesions and preserved immunological state in mostof the HIV-positive patients were factors that may explain the low occurrence ofprecancerous cervical lesions in this population.  相似文献

The data derived from these studies comply with a study design aimed at generating relevant information while diminishing unwanted variation (noise). Knowledge about the study design can be used to decompose the total data into data blocks that are associated with specific effects. Two isoforms of an extracellular endonuclease, nucleases Sm1 and Sm2, were purified from culture fluid of Serratia marcescens strain BIO MI by ligand-exchange chromatography on phosphocellulose and DEAE-Toyopearl 650S. The pI-values for nucleases Sm1 and Sm2 were found to be 7.1 and 6.7, respectively. The amino acid analysis and N-terminal amino acid sequencing of the proteins showed a significant degree of homology between the enzymes. The nuclease Sm1 has been crystallized from ammonium sulfate solution by the vapour diffusion technique. The crystals belong to the space group P2(1)2(1)2(1) with unit cell constants a = 69.0, b = 106.7, c = 74.8 A, contain two molecules in an asymmetric unit, packing density Vm = 2.3 A/Da, and diffract to at least 1.5 A resolution. The Pt- and UO2-derivatives of the protein were obtained. Preliminary X-ray investigation of nuclease Sm2 crystals was carried out.  相似文献

Genetic exchange among chromosomal races of the common shrew Sorex araneus and the problem of reproductive barriers have been extensively studied by means of such molecular markers as mtDNA, microsatellites, and allozymes. In the present study, the interpopulation and interracial polymorphism in the common shrew was derived, using fingerprints generated by amplified DNA regions flanked by short interspersed repeats (SINEs)-interSINE PCR (IS-PCR). We used primers, complementary to consensus sequences of two short retroposons: mammalian element MIR and the SOR element from the genome of Sorex araneus. Genetic differentiation among eleven populations of the common shrew from eight chromosome races was estimated. The NP and MJ analyses, as well as multidimensional scaling showed that all samples examined grouped into two main clusters, corresponding to European Russia and Siberia. The bootstrap support of the European Russia cluster in the NJ and MP analyses was respectively 76 and 61%. The bootstrap index for the Siberian cluster was 100% in both analyses; the Tomsk race, included into this cluster, was separated with the bootstrap support of NJ/MP 92/95%.  相似文献

The adaptation to a particular function could directly influence the morphological evolution of an anatomical structure as well as its rates. The humeral morphology of moles (subfamily Talpinae) is highly modified in response to intense burrowing and fully fossorial lifestyle. However, little is known of the evolutionary pathways that marked its diversification in the two highly fossorial moles tribes Talpini and Scalopini. We used two-dimensional landmark-based geometric morphometrics and comparative methods to understand which factors influenced the rates and patterns of the morphological evolution of the humerus in 53 extant and extinct species of the Talpini (22 extant plus 12 extinct) and Scalopini (six extant plus 13 extinct) tribes, for a total of 623 humeri. We first built a synthetic phylogeny of extinct and extant taxa of the subfamily Talpinae based on all the available information from known phylogenies, molecular data, and age ranges of fossil records. We tested for evolutionary allometry by means of multivariate regression of shape on size variables. Evolutionary allometric trajectories exhibited convergence of humeral shape between the two tribes, even when controlling for phylogeny, though a significant differences in the evolutionary rates was found between the two tribes. Talpini, unlike Scalopini, seem to have reached a robust fossorial morphology early during their evolution, and their shape disparity did not change, if it did not decrease, through time. Furthermore, the basal Geotrypus spp. clearly set apart from the other highly fossorial moles, exhibiting a significant acceleration of evolutionary shifts toward higher degree of fossorial adaptation. Our observations support the hypothesis that the evolution of allometry may reflect a biological demand (in this case functional) that constrains the rates of evolution of anatomical structures.  相似文献

The aim of the present study is to assess the possible protective effects of thymol and carvacrol against cisplatin (CP)‐induced nephrotoxicity. A single dose of CP {6 mg/kg, intraperitoneally (i.p.)} injected to male rats revealed significant increases in serum urea, creatinine, and tumor necrosis factor alpha levels. It also increased kidney contents of malondialdehyde and caspase‐3 activity with significant reduction in serum albumin, kidney content of reduced glutathione as well as catalase, and superoxide dismutase activity as compared to that of the control group. In contrast, administration of thymol {20 mg/kg, orally (p.o.)} and/or carvacrol (15 mg/kg, p.o.) for 14 days before CP injection and for 7 days after CP administration restored the kidney function and examined oxidative stress parameters. In conclusion, thymol was more effective nephroprotective than carvacrol. Moreover, a combination of thymol and carvacrol had a synergistic nephroprotective effect that might be attributed to antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, and antiapoptotic activities.  相似文献

Integrated chorda tympani nerve responses to NaCl were studied in two mouse strains, an NaCl-preferring NZB/B1NJ and an NaCl-avoiding CBA/J. The NaCl responses of both strains had similar magnitude and were suppressed by amiloride to a similar extent. This suggests that peripheral gustatory responsiveness to NaCl is not the only mechanism underlying mouse strain variation in NaCl acceptance.   相似文献

Studies of the impact of terahertz radiation on living objects present a significant interest since its use for security systems is currently considered promising. We studied the non‐thermal impact of terahertz radiation on E. coli/pKatG‐gfp biosensor cells. The Novosibirsk free electron laser (NovoFEL), which currently has the world's highest average and peak power, was used as the source of terahertz radiation. We demonstrated that exposure to terahertz radiation at the wavelengths of 130, 150, and 200 µm and a power of 1.4 W/cm2 induces changes in green fluorescent protein (GFP) fluorescence values and thus induces the expression of GFP in E. coli/pKatG‐gfp biosensor cells.
