Cell-cell contacts and the formation of aggregates play an important role in the mitogen induced in-vitro activation of lymphocytes. The fact that the formation of cell aggregates is only slightly reduced in microgravity suggests that cells are moving and interacting also in space. Direct evidence was obtained for the first time in an experiment performed on a sounding rocket flight, where the movements and interactions of free-floating, non activated cells could be observed in real time in microgravity. In an experiment performed on the IML-2 mission in July 1994, the movements and interactions of human lymphocytes during activation with the mitogen Con A were studied in real time in microgravity. 相似文献

The relation between the results of laboratory tests and results of the interesting professional work is a very difficult one. The same is true for the relation between training and real performance. The pilot controlled MIR-docking manoeuvre is in reality a very seldom but very important one. The training of this manoeuvre is a very special professional work and only for cosmonauts available. But the objective estimation of the performance and the used objective and subjective needs is nevertheless necessary. Even for the subjective "stress"-feelings during task solving it is often impossible to get reliable data without any physiological measurements. The use of electrodes, cables and equipments is hardly limited during real work. Sometimes only the voice is available over more or less quality communication channels. So it is the case during the training and the real pilot controlled MIR-docking manoeuvre. Based on findings in the literature and own experiments analyzing the relation between fundamental voice frequency (F0) and subjective stress feelings we tested the hypothesis that a on-line measurement of F0 can be used for stress evaluation during standardised training sessions of MIR-docking manoeuvres. 相似文献

The application of lower body negative pressure (LBNP) is very useful method for simulation of +Gz stress and for evaluation of orthostatic reaction. The different physiological changes that occur during LBNP test and +Gz acceleration test are similar. Lategola and Trent found that supine LBNP exposure at the level of -50 mmHg may be equivalent to +2Gz in producing the changes of heart rate (HR). Polese and coworkers compared hemodynamic changes occurring during upright and supine LBNP at the levels to -70 mmHg with identical measurements made during accelerations to +2Gz, +3Gz, and +4Gz in the same subjects. They noted for example that HR changes during upright LBNP exceeded HR supine levels. Peak values of HR during +3Gz and +4Gz significantly exceeded HR levels during both kinds of LBNP, but HR values at +2Gz were equivalent to those at -40 mmHg of upright and -70 mmHg of supine LBNP. So, the present study was undertaken to evaluate adaptating responses to LBNP stimulus at the level of -60 mmHg, regulatory mechanisms of the circulatory system (central and peripheral) and to look for the possibility of +Gz tolerance prediction based on the changes of some hemodynamic parameters during LBNP. 相似文献

Previous work has shown that microtubule (MT) reorientation follows the onset of growth inhibition on the lower side of graviresponding roots, indicating that growth reduction can occur independently of MT reorientation. To test this observation further, we examined whether the reduction in growth in response to osmotic stress is correlated with MT reorientation. The distribution and rate of growth in maize roots exposed to 350 mOsm sorbitol and KCl or 5 mM Mes/Tris buffer were measured with a digitizer. After various times roots were processed for indirect immunofluorescence microscopy. Application of sorbitol or KCl had no effect on the organization of MTs in the apical 2 mm of the root but resulted in striking and different effects in the basal region of the root. Sorbitol treatment caused rapid appearance of oval to circular holes in the microtubular array that persisted for at least 9 h. Between 30 min and 4 h of submersion in KCl, MTs in cortical cells 4 mm and farther from the quiescent center began to reorient oblique to the longitudinal axis. After 9 h, the alignment of MTs had shifted to parallel to the root axis but MTs of the epidermal cells remained transverse. In KCl-treated roots MT reorientation appeared to follow a pattern of development similar to that in controls but without elongation. Recent advances in molecular mutagenesis reveal that two of the mechanisms which contribute to mutagen-induced point mutations, the frequency of induced DNA damage and the repair rate of this damage, vary considerably along the genome. At a grosser level of genomic resolution, cytogeneticists now distinguish several classes of chromosome bands along human chromosomes. The hot spots for X-ray induced breaks (chromosome mutations) occur in certain band classes, while the hot spots for mitomycin C-induced exchanges or melphalan-induced breaks occur in other band classes. Consequently, a phylogenetic tree that includes one or more polytomous nodes is generally viewed as unresolved. However, while some polytomles surely represent a failure of resolution, others may be real or the best resolution that can be achieved.
