The aim of the present work was to study the changes in the activity of disaccharidase enzymes (lactase. maltase, saccharase)
in the small intestine of gnotobiotic pigs aged 0–35 days and inoculated with Enterococcus faecium. The continual decrease of lactase activity was observed from the 14th day of age up to the end of the experiment. The most significant decrease of specific lactase activity in the duodenum (2.1
μmol/mg protein/hour) was noted from the 21st to the 28th day of age. On the other hand, the specific saccharase activity increased moderately during the post weaning period and maltase
activity maintained a constant level.

- 1 Martino's vole Dinaromys bogdanovi is the only living member of the Tertiary genus Dinaromys, and probably also the only surviving member of the Pliomys lineage. The range of the genus Dinaromys has historically been small and its rate of evolution has been low.
- 2 Martino's vole shows all three attributes of rarity in accordance with Rabinowitz's ‘seven forms of rarity’ model: (i) its range is estimated at 43 545 km2 but the area of occupancy is <5200 km2; (ii) its habitat requirements are narrow and the species is strictly tied to exposed, karstified bedrock; and (iii) current populations are invariably small and frequently isolated.
- 3 The Pleistocene range of Martino's vole exceeded the recent one, at least in the north‐western part of the Balkans, and its shrinkage continued into the Holocene.
- 4 Martino's vole may be in competition with the European snow vole Chionomys nivalis, which has a very similar morphology and presumably identical habitat requirements, but is shifted towards an r‐selected life‐history strategy. Long‐term sympatry of these voles has probably resulted in competitive exclusion of the relatively K‐selected Martino's vole by the relatively r‐selected European snow vole.
- 5 Martino's vole consists of two deeply divergent (about one million years ago) phylogeographical lineages, which may represent distinct cryptic species. Rarity is particularly pronounced in the north‐western lineage to the west of the Neretva River, where rocky habitats are largely occupied by the European snow vole.
- 6 In the IUCN Red List of Threatened Animals, Martino's vole is classified as ‘near threatened’. However, the north‐western lineage, which is phylogeographically most divergent and has the greatest genetic diversity, is classed as a ‘vulnerable’ evolutionary significant unit on the basis of its small area of occupancy (<2000 km2). Long‐term population monitoring is an essential step in evaluating the conservation needs of Martino's vole.

Allium croaticum , a new species from the island of Vis in Central Dalmatia (Croatia) is described and illustrated. Its relationships with allied species belonging to the A. stamineum group (Allium section Codonoprasum) are discussed. It is a diploid species (2n = 16), colonizing calcareous screes and flowering in early summer. Single-chain antibodies (scFv) specific to Brachyspira hyodysenteriae were isolated from a phagemid library. Recombinant Bhlp 29.7 protein was used for scFv selection and individual clones were
tested by ELISA and immunofluorescent test; four unique clones were isolated. One of selected clones was able to bind specifically

During systematic archaelogical excavations of the early medieval kingdom of Serbia, and adult male skull belonging to the
skeleton of a Roman individual was unearthed at Babrež site in the Ras region. A supernumerary bone was found interposed between
the frontal bones of the skull and the facial skeleton. Paleopathological investigation and CT reconstruction proved that
this skull had been deformed during foetal development due to a disorder or disease affecting the mother. This probably led
to the formation of the supernumerary Glabellar bone in the frontal region. This is the first case of Os Glabellae recorded

Secoiridoid glycosides are naturally occurring phytochemicals of great importance for the food and pharmaceutical industry because of their various biological activities. Certain Gentiana and Centaurium species, which are recognized as the most important sources of these compounds, have become critically endangered due to overexploitation. In this study we describe a laboratory-scale approach for further implementation in large-scale production of secoiridoid glycosides, using a hairy root culture system of Centaurium maritimum L. Fritch, an underutilized and phytochemically unexplored species. Hairy roots were induced by Agrobacterium rhizogenes strain A40M70GUS and grown in Erlenmeyer flasks, as well as in RITA® temporary immersion bioreactors (TIBs). About 2–4 times higher biomass production rate and up to 8 times higher total secoiridoid glycosides production rate were achieved in RITA® bioreactors. Among the selected hairy root lines, line HR3 cultured in RITA® TIBs proved to be the most efficient considering both biomass and secoiridoid glycosides production rate. 相似文献

Autophagic transport to the vacuole represents an endomembrane trafficking route, which is widely used in plants, not only during stress situations, but also for vacuole biogenesis and during developmental processes. Here we report a role in autophagic membrane transport for EXO70B1—one of 23 paralogs of Arabidopsis EXO70 exocyst subunits. EXO70B1 positive compartments are internalized into the central vacuole and co‐localize with autophagosomal marker ATG8f. This internalization is boosted by induction of autophagy. Loss of function (LOF) mutations in exo70B1 cause reduction of internalized autopagic bodies in the vacuole. Mutant plants also show ectopic hypersensitive response (HR) mediated by salicylic acid (SA) accumulation, increased nitrogen starvation susceptibility and anthocyanin accumulation defects. Anthocyanin accumulation defect persists in npr1x exo70B1 double mutants with SA signaling compromised, while ectopic HR is suppressed. EXO70B1 interacts with SEC5 and EXO84 and forms an exocyst subcomplex involved in autophagy‐related, Golgi‐independent membrane traffic to the vacuole. We show that EXO70B1 is functionally completely different from EXO70A1 exocyst subunit and adopted a specific role in autophagic transport . 相似文献
