In the present work, spectroscopic, kinetic and dosimetric features of the radicalic intermediates produced after gamma irradiation at room temperature of solid triclosan (2,4,4-trichloro-2-hydroxydiphenyl ether; TCS) were investigated by means of electron spin resonance spectroscopy (ESR) at various temperatures. The same material was also irradiated with UV light, and an ESR spectrum very similar to that obtained for gamma-irradiated TCS, was recorded. The ESR spectrum of TCS is characterized by an unresolved doublet with resonance lines split into other doublets. An evaluation technique based on variations of four assigned peak-to-peak amplitudes and signal intensity was adopted, to monitor the evolution of the spectrum under different experimental conditions. Radicals of one type were proposed to be created upon irradiation exhibiting decays via intra-track and inter-track recombination reactions with activation energies of 43 ± 2 and 139 ± 6 kJ/mol, respectively. A radical exhibiting axial g anisotropy and interacting with two un-equivalent protons was found to describe the experimental spectrum well. The sensitivity of TCS to gamma radiation was high (G = 0.12) suggesting TCS to be a suitable dosimetric material in measuring normal and accidental radiation doses in the range of (1–25 kGy).  相似文献

Some novel benzimidazole derivatives were synthesized and their in vitro effects on rat liver microsomal NADPH-dependent lipid peroxidation (LP) level, ethoxyresorufin O-deethylase (EROD) and antifungal activities were determined. A significant decrease in male rat liver microsomal LP level was noted by compounds 4c (52%), 4e (58%) and 4h (43%) at 10? 3 M concentration. Compounds 4c (100.0%), 4h (100.0%), 5c (98.0%) and 5h (100.0%) inhibited the microsomal ethoxyresorufin O-deethylase (EROD) enzyme activity better than that of the specific inhibitor caffeine (85%). Among these compounds, only compounds 4b and 4h exhibited moderate activity against C.albicans whereas the others had weak effects.  相似文献

Abstract

Purpose: The frequency of chewing disorders increases with decreasing level of gross motor function in children with cerebral palsy (CP). Besides its frequency, the severity of chewing disorders is also important. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between chewing performance level and gross motor function, and trunk postural control in children with CP.

Materials and methods: The study included 119 children with CP (age 2–10 years). Chewing performance level was determined by the Karaduman Chewing Performance Scale (KCPS). The Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) was used to determine the level of gross motor function. Segmental Assessment of Trunk Control (SATCo) was used to measure trunk control.

Results: Children with spastic CP with a median age of 4?years were evaluated, of which 50.4% were male. The percentages of patients classified to GMFCS levels I to V were 43.7%, 6.7%, 9.2%, 5.0%, and 35.3%, respectively. The median KCPS score was 3 (min?=?0, max?=?4). A good correlation was found between KCPS and GMFCS (p?<?.001, r?=?0.70). Negative, excellent correlations between KCPS and SATCo static, SATCo active, and SATCo reactive postural controls were found (p?<?.001, r?=?–0.75, r?=?–0.77, r?=?–0.79; respectively).

Conclusions: The severity of chewing disorders is related to the level of gross motor function and trunk postural control in children with CP.

In this work novel organic based compounds, acyl thiourea derivatives were synthesized and their anticancer activities were investigated. A new series of acyl thiourea derivatives containing pyrazole ring were prepared in good yield through one pot reaction of 4-benzoyl-1, 5-diphenyl-1H-pyrazole-3-carbonyl chloride with ammonium thiocyanate and various amines. The structures of the newly synthesized compounds were confirmed by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and elemental analysis. Anticancer activities of synthesized compounds were evaluated on human colon, liver and leukemia cancer cell lines. Cell culture studies have demonstrated significant toxicity of the compounds on the cell lines, and the levels of toxicity have altered in the presence of various side groups. These results confirm that novel pyrazolyl acyl thioureas derived compounds may be utilized for cancer treatment. Furthermore, these compounds have a great potential and significance for further investigations.  相似文献

Carbonic anhydrase (CA; EC 4.2.1.1) was purified from the gill of the teleost fish Dicentrarchus labrax (European seabass). The purification procedure consisted of a single step affinity chromatography on Sepharose 4B-tyrosine-sulfanilamide. The enzyme was purified 84.9-fold with a yield of 58%, and a specific activity of 838.9 U/mg proteins. It has an optimum pH at 8.0; an optimum temperature at 10°C. The kinetic parameters of this enzyme were determined for its esterase activity, with 4-nitrophenyl acetate (NPA) as substrate. The following anions, H?NSO??, I?, SCN?, NO??, NO??, N??, Br?, Cl?, SO?2?, and F? showed inhibitory effects on the enzyme. Sulfamic acid, iodide, and thiocyanate exhibited the strongest inhibitory action, in the micromolar range (K(i)s of 87-187 μM). NO??, NO?? and N?? were moderate inhibitors, whereas other anions showed only weak actions. All tested anions inhibited the enzyme in a competitive manner. Our findings indicate that these anions inhibit the fish enzyme in a similar manner to other α-CAs from mammals investigated earlier, but the susceptibility to various anions differs significantly between the fish and mammalian CAs.  相似文献

To combat the coronaviruses and their novel variants, therapeutic drugs and the development of vaccines that are to be effective throughout human life are urgently needed. The endocannabinoid system (ECS) acts as a modulator in the activation of the microcirculation, immune system, and autonomic nervous system, along with controlling pharmacological functions such as emotional responses, homeostasis, motor functions, cognition, and motivation. The ECS contains endogenous cannabinoids, cannabinoid receptor (CBRs), and enzymes that regulate their biosynthesis, transport, and degradation. Moreover, phytocannabinoids and synthetic cannabinoids that mimic the action of endocannabinoids also play an essential role in the modulation of the ECS. Cannabinoids, the main constituents of cannabis (Cannabis sativa L.), are therapeutic compounds that have received international attention in the health field due to their therapeutic properties. Recently, they have been tested for the treatment of COVID-19 due to their antiviral properties. Indeed, cannabinoid-type compounds, and in particular cannabidiol (CBD), isolated from glandular trichomes found in the calyx of cannabis flowers with reported antiviral properties is hypothesized to be a therapeutic option in the ministration of SARS-CoV-2 consorted with COVID-19 disease. The relevant articles were determined from the database search published mainly in Web of Science, Google scholar, PubMed, Crossref, and ClinicalTrials.gov database during the pandemic period. The articles were evaluated for the therapeutic potentials, mechanisms of action of cannabinoids, the roles of the ECS in the immune system, impact of cannabinoids in SARS-CoV-2 septic, especially if they address the application of cannabinoids as drugs for the curability and management of SARS-CoV-2 and its novel variants. Although the evidence needed to be considered using cannabinoids in the control and treatment of viral diseases is currently in its infancy, they already offer an opportunity for clinicians due to their effects in relieving pain, improving appetite, and improving childhood epilepsy, especially in cancer and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV/AIDS) patients. In addition to these, the most recent scientific evidence emphasizes their use in the treatment of the coronavirus infected patients. In brief, all preclinic and clinic studies that have been reported show that, through the cannabinoid system, cannabinoids, particularly CBD, have many mechanisms that are effective in the treatment of patients infected by SARS-CoV-2. Thus, more extensive studies are necessary in this area to fully identify the effects of cannabinoids on SARS-CoV-2.  相似文献

Breast milk contributes towards optimal nutrition for infants. However, studies showed that it can also contain different toxins and heavy metals, which reduce its health benefits. The aim of this study is to determine the level of contaminants such as aflatoxin M1 (AFM1), Pb, Cd, As, and Hg in breast milk samples from Famagusta, Cyprus. Correlations between moldy food consumption, smoking habits of the mothers, and contaminant levels in breast milk were also investigated. Breast milk samples from 50 lactating mothers in rural and urban areas of Famagusta District were analyzed for AFM1 by ELISA. Eighty percent of them were found to be contaminated with AFM1 with the mean measurement of 7.84?±?1.72 ng/l. Socio-demographic status, moldy food consumption habits, and smoking status do not have any effect on the AFM1 levels observed in breast milk. Heavy metal levels in breast milk were examined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, and the mean measurements were1.19?±?1.53 ppm for Pb, 0.73?±?0.58 ppm for As, 0?±?0.20 ppm for Hg, and 0.45?±?0.23 ppm for Cd. This study indicates that the levels of these contaminants in breast milk samples obtained in Famagusta District are well within the acceptable levels. However, the presence of AFM1 and heavy metals still may pose risks for infant health.  相似文献
