We investigated the composition of the vegetation in two former mining regions in Central Slovakia: Banská Štiavnica with predominant Pb-Zn contamination and Staré Hory with a very high Cu content in the soil. Old heaps rich in heavy metals are covered with specific vegetation. On the Cu-rich spoil heaps, species-poor plant communities with prevailing Agrostis stolonifera, Avenella flexuosa, Acetosella vulgaris, Arabidopsis arenosa, Silene dioica, and S. vulgaris occur. Species such as Agrostis capillaris, Acetosella vulgaris, Arabidopsis arenosa, and Thlaspi caerulescens appear frequently on Pb-Zn mine wastes. Several differences in the vegetation structure were detected between the Pb-Zn and Cu mine heaps; higher amounts of vascular plants and fewer lichen species covered the Pb-Zn mine heaps. For the Cu mine heaps, on the contrary a small number of vascular species but a high number and coverage of lichen species, especially Ceratodon purpureus and Cladonia arbuscula subsp. mitis were typical. The non-metalliferous meadows in the vicinity of the mines showed uniform structure but a higher species diversity.  相似文献

Summary Detection of a patient suffering from Krabbe's disease led to carrier screening in his family. Determination of galactosylceramide -galactosidase activity revealed the occurrence of two different alleles among the carriers of the same family. Heterozygotes and their noncarrier relatives were studied using psychometric and neuropsychological tests under blind conditions. It was found that compared to seven adult noncarrier relatives 19 adult carriers differ significantly in their general IQ and some subtests of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for adults (WISA), including spatial cognition. Reaction times were significantly slower in the carriers with enzyme activity below 25% of the control values. The phenolic oxidative coupling protein (Hyp-1) with proposed activity in the biosynthesis of hypericin in Hypericum perforatum shares about 50 % sequence similarity with Bet.v.1-like/PR-10 proteins. In our previous study, we showed that this protein is not a limiting factor in hypericin biosynthesis. To ascertain the role of Hyp-1 in defense mechanisms, we have analyzed some structural features of the hyp-1 gene in 14 Hypericum species with different abilities to synthesise hypericin. We show that the hyp-1 gene possesses characteristics typical for genes encoding plant PR-10 proteins. The coding sequence of the hyp-1 gene is interrupted by a single 86- to 125-bp intron localised strictly in codon 62, which is a typical feature of the dicot PR-10 subfamily. The localisation of the intron is conserved in all 14 tested Hypericum species indicating a common evolutionary history with genes encoding PR-10 proteins. In addition, we report that the hyp-1 gene exhibits a similar response to stress conditions as the PR-10 proteins encoding genes. Following either wounding or infection by Agrobacterium tumefaciens, all analysed Hypericum species exhibited rapid and significant upregulation of hyp-1 gene expression; this was particularly observed in hypericin-producing species. On the other hand, in the presence of high levels of abscisic acid, different levels of gene expression were observed.  相似文献

The aim of our study was to determine the genetic characterization and classification of Lb. gasseri K7 bacteriocins, comparison with bacteriocins of the Lb. gasseri LF221 strain and other related strains. Bacteriocin-encoding genes were amplified by PCR, subjected to DNA sequencing, and BLAST sequence analysis was performed to search the database for homologous peptides. Lb. gasseri K7 produces two two-peptide bacteriocins, named gassericin K7 A and gassericin K7 B. Their nucleotide sequences were deposited at GenBank, under accession numbers EF392861 for the gassericin K7 A and AY307382 for the gassericin K7 B. Analysis of gene clusters of bacteriocins in Lb. gasseri K7 strain revealed a 100 percent sequence identity with bacteriocins in LF221 strain. An active peptide of gassericin K7 B is homologous to the complementary peptide of gassericin T, and a complementary peptide of gassericin K7 B is homologous to the active peptide of gassericin T. Another surprising finding was that the sakacin T-beta peptide is partly homologous to the active peptide of gassericin K7 A, while the other sakacin T peptide (alfa) is partly homologous to the complementary peptide of gassericin K7 B. Gassericins of Lb. gasseri K7 strain were both classified as two-peptide bacteriocins. Human probiotic strains Lb. gasseri K7 and LF221 are different isolates but with identical bacteriocin genes. They produce wide-inhibitory spectra bacteriocins that are new members of two-peptide bacteriocins with some homologies to other bacteriocins in this group. Described bacteriocins offer a great potential in applications in food industry, pharmacy and biomedicine.  相似文献

Summary Most of the auditory neurons in the ventral nerve cord ofLocusta migratoria carry information not only from the tympanal organs but also from the subgenual organs (vibration sensors). Six of the eight neuron types studied electrophysiologically respond to at least these two modalities. Artificial sounds (white noise and pure tones varying in frequency and intensity) and sinusoidal vibration (200 Hz with an acceleration of 15.8 cm/s2 or 2000 Hz and 87 cm/s2) were used as stimuli.Complex excitatory and/or inhibitory interactions of the signals from both tympanal organs form the discharge patterns of auditory ventral-cord neurons in response to stimulation with air-borne sound. Normally the input of the ipsilateral sense organ dominates. The response patterns of these same neurons elicited by vibration stimuli are formed differently, as follows: (1) the sensory inputs of all subgenual organs are integrated in the responses of the ventral-cord neurons; in a single neuron they have either excitatory or inhibitory effects, but not both. (2) The more legs vibrated, the larger is the response. (3) The subgenual organs in the middle legs are most effective, those in the hind legs least so. (4) Ipsilateral vibration has more effect than contralateral.The six auditory neurons react to vibration combined with air-borne sound in different ways. The B neuron is the only one inhibited by vibration stimuli. U r?zně starých list? v listové r??ici 90 a? 110 denních rostlin Nicotiana sanderae hort. byly sledovány rozdály v intensitě ?isté fotosynthesy a v obsahu chlorofylu (a + b). Ke stanovení intensity fotosynthesy bylo pou?ito dvou odli?ných metod, a to váhového stanovení p?ír?stku su?iny podle Barto?e, KubÍna a ?et-lÍka (1960) a gazometrického stanovení infra?erveným analyzátorem CO2. Nejvy??í intensitu fotosynthesy i nejvy??í obsah chlorofylu (vzhledem k plo?e listové) mají mladé, ale ji? dob?e rozvinuté listy, tj. t?etí a? ?tvrté od vrcholu (prvním listem se rozumí list o plo?e asi 20 cm2). Tyto listy nazýváme ?fotosyntheticky dospělými“. Listy nejmlad?í a zejména pak listy star?í mají intensitu fotosynthesy i obsah chlorofylu ni??í; u nejstar?ích list? je intensita fotosynthesy prakticky nulová. Intensita fotosynthesy i obsah chlorofylu se během vývoje mění: jejich momentální rozdíly u list? v genetické spirále jsou z?ejmě shodné s jejich změnami v ontogenesi listu. Pokles intensity fotosynthesy p?i stárnutí list? je rychlej?í ne? pokles obsahu chlorofylu. P?i ur?itém obsahu chlorofylu (tj. asi 2,25 a? 2,45 mg/dm2) klesá intensita ?isté fotosynthesy k nule. Intensita fotosynthesy je v lineárním vztahu k mno?ství chlorofylu (p?i p?epo?tu na plo?nou jednotku), a to nezávisle na poloze listu v genetické spirále. Obě pou?ité metody ke stanovení intensity fotosynthesy poskytly obdobné výsledky.  相似文献

We have elaborated a one-pot three-component assembly of trityl olmesartan medoxomil starting from commercially available ethyl 4-(2-hydroxypropan-2-yl)-2-propyl-1H-imidazole-5-carboxylate, 5-(4′-(bromomethyl)-[1,1′-biphenyl]-2-yl)-1-trityl-1H-tetrazole and 4-(chloromethyl)-5-methyl-1,3-dioxol-2-one intermediates. The developed and optimized one-pot process provides 72–75% yield of trityl olmesartan medoxomil over three steps, which represents in average ca. 90% yield per synthetic step, on a 300?g scale. The process is conducted in simple fashion and provides highly pure trityl olmesartan medoxomil (up to 97.5% by HPLC), which can be easily converted to olmesartan medoxomil that fully complies with all ICH requirements. Furthermore, the described process significantly improves the primary process to trityl olmesartan medoxomil by drastic reduction of required unit operations and application of single reaction solvent through the reaction sequence. Moreover, the amount of used organic solvents was notably reduced. The developed process has provided solid bases for industrial production of trityl olmesartan medoxomil.  相似文献
