One of the best examples of differentiation and hybridization among South American passerine birds is exhibited by Icterus cayanensis (Epaulet Oriole) and Icterus chrysocephalus (Moriche Oriole). Icterus chrysocephalus is a monotypic species restricted to northern South America. Icterus cayanensis is a polytypc species that ranges from Suriname and French Guyana to northern Argentina. Five subspecies are recognized to I. cayanensis. Hybrid zones are known between I. cayanensis and I. chrysocephalus as well as between subspecies of I. cayanenis, even though character variation has never been adequately assessed and mapped. Although molecular data support the hypothesis that I. cayanensis and I. chrysocephalus form a monophyletic group, they do not support the species limits currently recognized within this group. We analysed the geographic variation of plumage characters along the range of this group to map the geographic variation of individual plumage characters and identify the populations that have uniform phenotypic character expression and therefore represent genuine phylogenetic species. We also used molecular data to investigate the phylogenetic relationships among these species. Geographic variation of plumage characters, habitat preferences and molecular data identified four species within I. cayanensis–chrysocephalus clade: an Amazonian species group, formed by I. cayanensis and I. chrysocephalus and a Southern species group composed of I. pyrrhopterus and I. tibialis. The growth capability of Trichoderma harzianum Rifaii Tl was tested on Malt Extract and Czapeks Dox agar containing different concentrations of Cu2+, Zn2+, Mn2+, Fe2+ and Ca2+. The T. harzianum Tl isolate was observed to produce mycelia and spores in various mineral-containing media. It showed the lowest tolerance

The purpose of this study was to investigate the diversity of cultivable phosphate solubilising (PSB) and total bacteria originated from 384 rhizospheric acidic soils samples of tea plants grown at 32 locations. Over 900 rhizoplane bacteria were randomly selected from agar-solidified trypticase soy broth, and identified using fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) profiles. Based on FAME profiles, 53 bacterial genera were identified with a similarity index >0.3, but 60.3% of the identified isolates belonged to five genera: Bacillus (34.6%), Pseudomonas (8.9%), Stenotrophomonas (6.1%), Paenibacillus (5.9%) and Arthrobacter (4.8%). The bacilli group comprised many different species, with the most abundant being B. cereus, B. megaterium and B. sphaericus. The main identified Pseudomonads included P. fluorescens, P. putida, and P. alcaligenes. About 30.4% of the bacterial isolates could not be classified to genus since their similarity indices were <0.3 indicating no close matches. Most of the total and P-solubilizing bacteria isolated were Gram positive (61.3 and 52.3%), and Gram negative constituted only 38.7 and 47.7%. Out of the 214 PSB from a pool of 506 bacterial isolates recovered on the selective media from the rhizosphere of tea, 74 of them were characterized by carbon sources using BIOLOGM GN2 and GP2 plates. Bacillus, Pseudomonas, Paenibacillus and Stenotrophomonas genera were the most prominent P-solubilizing groups in the rhizosphere and soil populations analyzed. B. cereus, P. fluorescens, S. maltophilia, B. megaterium, P. putida, B. sphaericus and Paenibacillus polymyxa were the most frequent P-solubilizing species in the acidic tea rhizosohere soils. Selected Gram-positive PSB appeared to favour carbohydrates, and Gram-negative bacteria appeared to favour carboxylic acids, amino acids and carbohydrates as carbon sources. The title compound, 2-{4-[3-(2,5-dimethylphenyl)-3-methylcyclobutyl]thiazol-2-yl}isoindoline-1,3-dione (C24H22N2O2S), was synthesized and characterized by IR-NMR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c with a?=?19.7799(13) Å, b?=?6.7473(4) Å, c?=?15.7259(9) Å and β?=?103.416(5)°. In addition, the molecular geometry, vibrational frequencies and gauge including atomic orbital (GIAO) 1H and 13C chemical shift values of the title compound in the ground state have been calculated by using the Hartree-Fock (HF) and density functional method (DFT/B3LYP) with 6–31G(d), 6–31 + G(d,p) and LANL2DZ basis sets, and compared with the experimental data. To determine conformational flexibility, molecular energy profile of the title compound was obtained by semi-empirical (AM1) calculations with respect to two selected degrees of torsional freedom, which were varied from ?180° to +180° in steps of 5°. Hybridization of natural products has high potential to further improve their activities and may produce synergistic effects between linked pharmacophores. Here we report synthesis of nine new hybrids of natural products egonol, homoegonol, thymoquinone and artemisinin and evaluation of their activities against P. falciparum 3D7 parasites, human cytomegalovirus, sensitive and multidrug-resistant human leukemia cells. Most of the new hybrids exceed their parent compounds in antimalarial, antiviral and antileukemia activities and in some cases show higher in vitro efficacy than clinically used reference drugs chloroquine, ganciclovir and doxorubicin. Combined, our findings stress the high potency of these hybrids and encourages further use of the hybridization concept in applied pharmacological research. 相似文献

The effects of seasonal and sexual differences on the levels of macro, trace element, and toxic metal levels in Mullus barbatus were investigated using the ICP-MS. The quantity relationships of macro elements were found as K>P>Na>Ca>Mg for male, P>K>Na>Ca>Mg in female; the quantity relationships of trace elements were determined as Fe>Zn>Mn>Mo>Se>Cu>Ni>Co in male, Fe>Zn>Mn>Se>Cu>Ni>Mo>Co in female; and the quantity relationship of toxic elements were found as As>Pb>Cd in both male and female. Macro, trace, and toxic metal levels showed no significant differences (p > .05) in terms of sexuality, but demonstrated seasonal differences (p > .05). Overall, the highest level of macro elements was determined in the autumn, while the high level of trace elements was measured in the winter. The As, Cd, and Pb levels in the muscle tissue of red mullet fish were higher than acceptable limits. However, when the Estimated Daily Intake (EDI) and Estimated Weekly Intake (EWI) of both toxic metals are considered, they appear to be below acceptable limits. As a result, it was determined that the red mullet had been contaminated with toxic metals (Cd and Pb) but their levels according to EDI and EWI were below the limit. 相似文献

Background
Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most frequent pediatric malignant bone tumor. OS patients have not seen any major therapeutic progress in the last 30 years, in particular in the case of metastatic disease, which requires new therapeutic strategies. The pro-apoptotic cytokine Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)–Related Apoptosis Inducing Ligand (TRAIL) can selectively kill tumor cells while sparing normal cells, making it a promising therapeutic tool in several types of cancer. However, many OS cell lines appear resistant to recombinant human (rh)TRAIL-induced apoptosis. We, therefore, hypothesized that TRAIL presentation at the membrane level of carrier cells might overcome this resistance and trigger apoptosis.Methods
To address this, human adipose mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) transfected in a stable manner to express membrane-bound full-length human TRAIL (mbTRAIL) were co-cultured with several human OS cell lines.Results
This induced apoptosis by cell-to-cell contact even in cell lines initially resistant to rhTRAIL. In contrast, mbTRAIL delivered by MSCs was not able to counteract tumor progression in this OS orthotopic model.Discussion

Abstract stress, dissatisfaction and the feeling of inadequacy experienced as a result of the change in appearance caused by weight gain affects self -esteem and body image of pregnant women negatively. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between maternal obesity, self-esteem and body image. The study was performed through a questionnaire in a state hospital in Trabzon, Turkey with 300 unselected pregnant women who were recruited from the delivery unit. As data collection tools, Body Image Scale (BAS) and Coopersmith Self-Esteem Scale (GIS) were used between April and May 2016. According to BMI variables, 12.3%, 57.0% and 30.7% of the pregnant women were normal, overweight and obese respectively and gained an average of 12.11?±?3.03?kg during pregnancy. Accordingly, the majority of pregnant women who participated in this study were found to be overweight and obese. While the body image of pregnant women surveyed in this study was at a high level (158.84?±?21.34), their average self-esteem was found at a moderate level (64.01?±?15.88). Based on BMI, 56.8% of the women with normal weight perceived themselves as normal, 48.0% of overweight women perceived themselves as normal and 53.3% of obese women perceived themselves as overweight. There was a positive significant relationship between participants' body image and their BMI (r?=?0.119 p?<?0.05). The pregnant women with normal BMI were more likely to feel satisfied. While 56.8% of the pregnant women at normal weight based on BMI were found to feel satisfied and 43.3% of those overweight felt satisfied, 54.3% of obese ones did not feel satisfied. A weak positive significant correlation was found between body image and self-esteem (r?=?0.172; p?=?0.003?<?0.05). As the self-esteem increases, body image increases, too.
