Effect of menthol on human temperature sensitivity

Application of 1% methol, which, along with cold, activates specific thermosensitive ionic channels, changes the number of functioning cold receptors on the skin of the forearm similarly to the cold exposure test; however, it does not affect the number of heat receptors and does not significantly change the threshold of cold sensation. Group variants of responses to menthol that indicate individual differences in the sensitivity of skin receptors to the effects of methol and cold have been found. The results obtained give grounds to suggest that, from the variant of response to menthol (a decrease, increase, or absence of changes in the number of functioning cold receptors 5 min after menthol application), it is possible to predict specific features of response to cold.     

电针镇痛时人脑脊液中β-内啡肽样免疫活性物质的含量与痛阈的关系

用β-内啡肽放射免疫分析法测定10例无疼痛主诉的患者电针前后侧脑室脑脊液中B-内啡肽样免疫活性物质(B-EPIS)的含量,其中6例用弹簧棒测定了痛阈和耐痛阈。结果表明,每 ml 脑脊液中β-EPIS 的含量比针前增加126.7 fmol/ml(P<0.02),病人的痛阈比针前升高29.5%,耐痛阈升高28.1%(P<0.05)。β-EPIS 含量的增加量与痛阈、耐痛阈的升高值呈直线相关,r_1=0.776,r_2=0.741(P<0.05)。表明电针能促使脑内释放β-内啡肽,释放增加的β-内啡肽参与镇痛作用,这可能是电针镇痛机制的重要环节之一。     

Spinal control of afferent temperature information in the cat

The effect of picrotoxin (at sub-convulsant doses, i.v.) on the background and invoked spike activity of cat dorsal horn internerons was investigated while thermal and mechanical influences were at work on the skin receptor areas. 我国广东路氏锥虫的研究Ⅰ.种的特性及其在实验寄主中的繁殖

本文对发现于广东的鼠锥虫进行了寄主特异性、形态学、实验寄主体内的感染过程、厦虫氨基酸组分等多方面的研究,并将其定为路氏锥虫在中国广东分布的一个不同地域株。本文研究了它在实验寄主体内繁殖消长的规律,整个发育过程的各期形态及成熟期的超微结构,并测出其16种氨基酸的存在和含量。     

Excitation of feline cutaneous mechanosensitive C-fiber sensory units by intraarterial administration of potassium ions

Response of low- and high-threshold mechanosensitive C fiber sensory units (MSU) in n. saphenus to close-arterial injection of potassium ions in subnoxious and noxious concentrations (SC and NC) were investigated in anesthetized cats. Two groups of high-threshold units were found: 1) MSU reacting to K⁺ at both SC and NC, but responding very differently to each of these concentrations and 2) MSU responding to NC only. Findings would indicate that high-rather than lowthreshold MSU participate in the perception of noxious stimuli. The possibility of differentiation between subnoxious and noxious stimuli by a proportion of high-threshold MSU is considered. Telomeres and P-element of Drosophila melanogaster contain sequences that replicate autonomously in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Summary We have isolated restriction fragments from a shotgun collection of Drosophila DNA which function as autonomously replicating sequences (ARS) in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and hybridize with telomeric regions of the 2L, 2R, 4, and X chromosomes. In an independently obtained set of D. melanogaster clones five fragments hybridize in situ with telomeres and a number of internal sites. Two of them also contain ARSs. A Drosophila mobile P-element also possesses ARS activity in yeast.
