A method is proposed for assessing the biocidal efficacy of water-dispersed nanoparticles of silver. It is based on negative chemotaxis of the plasmodia of the slime mold Physarum polycephalum. Biocidal and repellent effects were compared for silver nanoparticles, Ag+ ions, and AOT in solution and in the agar gel. In such characteristics as increasing the period of auto-oscillations of contractile activity, decreasing the area of spreading on substrate, and substrate preference in spatial tests, silver nanoparticles proved to be substantially more effective than Ag+ and AOT. The lethal concentrations of the nanoparticles were close to those found earlier for bacteria and viruses. The chemotactic tests allow quantitative assessment of the biological reaction and monitoring its dynamics; in resolution, they are superior to the tests based on the lethal action of biocidal agents. 相似文献

Mapping of the silver fox genes: assignments of the genes for ME1, ADK, PP, PEPA, GSR, MPI, and GOT1

Evidence is presented for the assignment of seven fox genes on the basis of the segregation data for chromosomes and enzymes of fox x Chinese hamster somatic cell hybrids. The chromosomal loci of the following enzyme genes were determined: ME1, VFU1; ADK and PP, VFU4; PEPA, VFU5; GSR, VFU7; and MPI and GOT1, VFU15. The localization of these genes now extends the fox genetic map to 22 mapped genes. Based on comparative analysis of mammalian genetic maps, karyotype evolution in Carnivora is discussed. 相似文献

Summary Using cloned cDNA for human 2-macroglobulin (A2M) as a probe, mink-Chinese hamster hybrid cells were analysed. The results allowed us to assign a gene for A2M to mink chromosome 9. Breeding tests demonstrated that the Lpm-locus coding for other related -macroglobulin protein and the gene for peptidase B (PEPB) are linked 11±3 cm apart. The PEPB gene is located on mink chromosome 9, and hence, the Lpw-locus is on the same mink chromosome. The relationship of the genetic systems controlling the isotypically different -macroglobulins in mink serum are discussed. 相似文献

To expand the mink map, we established a new panel consisting of 23 mink-mouse clones. On the basis of statistical criteria (Wijnen et al. 1977; Burgerhout 1978), we developed a computer program for choice of clones of the panel. Assignments of the following mink genes were achieved with the use of the hybrid panel: glyoxalase (GLO), Chromosome (Chr) 1; acetyl acylase (ACY), Chr 5; creatine phosphokinase B (CKBB), Chr 10; alcohol dehydrogenase-2 (subunit B) (ADH2), Chr 8. Using a series of clones carrying rearrangements involving mink Chr 1 and 8, we assigned the gene for ME1 to the short arm of Chr 1 and that for ADH2 to Chr 8, in the region 8p12-p24. Mapping results confirm the ones we previously obtained with a mink-Chinese hamster panel. However, by means of an improved electrophoretic technique, we revised the localization of the gene for purine nucleoside phosphorylase (NP), which has been thought to be on mink Chr 2. After alteration in the pattern of drainage of run-off from the surrounding swamps and changes in the colour and transparency
of the Lake Glubokoe water, the previously epilimnial Trichocerca similis, Conochilus unicornis and Keratella cochlearis showed a shift of their maximum numbers to deeper layers. Pompholyx sp. and Trichocerca capucina, which are regarded as indicators of eutrophic waters, have disappeared from the pelagic zone of the lake and Conochilus hippocrepis, Synchaeta pectinata, Gastropus stylifer, Asplanchna herricki, Ascomorpha ecaudis, Ascomorpha saltans,
Euchlanis dilatata and Trichocerca porcellus have made their appearance. Most of the new species are considered to be indicators of oligotrophic conditions. However the
total density of pelagic rotifers remained at the same level. Apparently the establishment of the new species of rotifers
was possible due to some ‘rarefaction’ of the epilimnion, the disappearance of predaceous Mesocyclops leuckarti and the invasion of the pelagic zone by Peridinium cinctum. 相似文献

The ability of various gangliosides to inhibit the cytotoxic activity of natural killers (NK-cells) from Syrian hamsters towards human lymphoma MOLT-4 cells was studied. The inhibitory effect was found to depend on the structure and concentration of the gangliosides. At concentrations corresponding to those in the blood of tumour-bearing hosts, SiaLacCer and Sia2LacCer inhibited the NK-activity. A significant inhibition was also found for (NeuAc)2GgOse3Cer, whereas NeuGcGgOse3Cer and NeuAcGgOse4Cer were practically inactive. Previously it was shown that Sia2LacCer which is either absent or very low in normal blood, is produced by a number of tumours and that tumour cells "shed" considerable amounts of gangliosides. On this ground, it was proposed that elevated concentrations of SiaLacCer and Sia2LacCer in the blood of tumour-bearing animals may inhibit the NK-activity and thus contribute to the "escape" of tumour cells from host immune surveillance. 相似文献

Analysis of spent naphthalene growth media ofPseudomonas fluorescens by GC-MS revealed the presence of salicylate. Gentisate 1,2-dioxygenase and pyrocatechol 1,2-dioxygenase were induced by growth on naphthalene, whereas only pyrocatechol 1,2-dioxygenase was induced during growth on salicylate. These results suggest the existence of alternative degradative routes of salicylate,via gentisate and pyrocatechol, which are involved in the catabolism of naphthalene. 相似文献

The component composition of nystatin produced by an improved strain of Streptomyces noursei was determined by HPLC on Milichrom chromatograph (USSR). It was shown that the antibiotic consisted of nystatins A1, A2, A3 and B and admixture substances. The data appeared to be in good agreement with the results of the complex TLC investigation, by using densitometry. The component composition of the samples was evidenced by SIEAP mass spectrometry. Abstract The prolylendopeptidase (PEP) is the proteolytic enzyme, which plays an essential role in the regulation of some processes in central nervous system, such as memory, learning and behavior. It was shown that PEP activity changes at different diseases, like Parkinsons or Alzheimer's diseases, and some PEP inhibitors are used in therapy. At present time the discovery of new types of PEP inhibitors are the actual task. In this study the structure of PEP active site was analyzed by 3D-QSAR with CoMFA methods using of 12 PEP substrates. The designed pharmacophore model assumes that substrates interact with PEP active site by pyrrolidol ring of proline residue and by hydrogen bonding. The 3-D-QSAR + CoMFA model of PEP substrates propose that the hydrophobic bonds play the essential role in substrate interaction with enzyme. This model reveals the important steric and electrostatic areas around the molecules and the presence of substituents controls the PEP activity for substrates. Analysis of obtained data allows to assume, that substrate binding in PEP active site causes essential perturbations of substrate structure. This effect mainly depends on chemical nature of the amino acid side chain, located near to proline. 相似文献
