A weeping pulsed radar reflectometer designed for measuring the spatial electron density distribution in the Globus-M spherical tokamak with a minor plasma radius of a=24 cm, a major radius of R=36 cm, a toroidal field of B T=0.5 T, a plasma current of I p=200 kA, and an average density of n=(3–10)×1013 cm?3 is described. The reflectometer operation is based on the reflection of microwaves with a carrier frequency f from a plasma layer with the critical density n=(0.0111f)2, where n is the electron density in units of 1014 cm?3 and f is the microwave frequency in GHz. By simultaneously probing the plasma at different frequencies, it is possible to recover the electron density profile. Microwave pulses with different frequencies are obtained by frequency sweeping. To increase the range of measured densities, channels with fixed frequencies are also used; as a result, the instrument has eleven frequency channels: a 19.5-GHz channel, eight channels in the 26-to 40-GHz frequency range, a 51.5-GHz channel, and a 60-GHz channel, which corresponds to eleven points in the density profile: 0.47×1013 cm?3, eight points in the (0.8–1.95)×1013-cm?3 range, 3.27×1013 cm?3, and 4.5×1013 cm?3. The reflectometer allows detailed measurements of the density profile with a time resolution of several tens of microseconds, which can be useful, in particular, in studying the processes related to the formation of an internal transport barrier in plasma. The first results obtained using this reflectometer in the Globus-M tokamak under various operating conditions are discussed.  相似文献

A collection of 68 cultivars of common wheat has been screened for leaf rust resistance genes with the use of molecular markers. Markers of genes Lr1, Lr9, Lr10, Lr19, Lr20, Lr21, Lr24, and Lr26 have been used. It has been suggested that allele Xgwm295 be used as a marker for identifying the Lr34 gene. The genes originating from Triticum aestivum L., as well as the Lr26 gene contained in rye translocation 1RS, are the most frequent. Genes originating from wild wheats were rarer in the cultivars studied.  相似文献

Phenotypic plasticity is important for species responses to global change and species coexistence. Phenotypic plasticity differs among species and traits and changes across environments. Here, we investigated phenotypic plasticity of the widespread grass Arrhenatherum elatius in response to winter warming and frost stress by comparing phenotypic plasticity of 11 geographically and environmentally distinct populations of this species to phenotypic plasticity of populations of different species originating from a single environment. The variation in phenotypic plasticity was similar for populations of a single species from different locations compared to populations of functionally and taxonomically diverse species from one environment for the studied traits (leaf biomass production and root integrity after frost) across three indices of phenotypic plasticity (RDPI, PIN, slope of reaction norm). Phenotypic plasticity was not associated with neutral genetic diversity but closely linked to the climate of the populations’ origin. Populations originating from warmer and more variable climates showed higher phenotypic plasticity. This indicates that phenotypic plasticity can itself be considered as a trait subject to local adaptation to climate. Finally, our data emphasize that high phenotypic plasticity is not per se positive for adaptation to climate change, as differences in stress responses are resulting in high phenotypic plasticity as expressed by common plasticity indices, which is likely to be related to increased mortality under stress in more plastic populations.  相似文献

Within‐species and among‐species differences in growth responses to a changing climate have been well documented, yet the relative magnitude of within‐species vs. among‐species variation has remained largely unexplored. This missing comparison impedes our ability to make general predictions of biodiversity change and to project future species distributions using models. We present a direct comparison of among‐ versus within‐species variation in response to three of the main stresses anticipated with climate change: drought, warming, and frost. Two earlier experiments had experimentally induced (i) summer drought and (ii) spring frost for four common European grass species and their ecotypes from across Europe. To supplement existing data, a third experiment was carried out, to compare variation among species from different functional groups to within‐species variation. Here, we simulated (iii) winter warming plus frost for four grasses, two nonleguminous, and two leguminous forbs, in addition to eleven European ecotypes of the widespread grass Arrhenatherum elatius. For each experiment, we measured: (i) C/N ratio and biomass, (ii) chlorophyll content and biomass, and (iii) plant greenness, root 15N uptake, and live and dead tissue mass. Using coefficients of variation (CVs) for each experiment and response parameter, a total of 156 within‐ vs. among‐species comparisons were conducted, comparing within‐species variation in each of four species with among‐species variation for each seed origin (five countries). Of the six significant differences, within‐species CVs were higher than among‐species CVs in four cases. Partitioning of variance within each treatment in two of the three experiments showed that within‐species variability (ecotypes) could explain an additional 9% of response variation after accounting for the among‐species variation. Our observation that within‐species variation was generally as high as among‐species variation emphasizes the importance of including both within‐ and among‐species variability in ecological theory (e.g., the insurance hypothesis) and for practical applications (e.g., biodiversity conservation).  相似文献

Rhythmic activities of two feeding structures of the pteropod mollusk Clione limacina, redula and hooks, controlled by the neural networks in the buccal ganglia must be coordinated in order to produce a meaningful feeding response. Optical recording from the buccal ganglia, which allows the simultaneous activities of numerous neurons to be traced, revealed that such coordination exists in a phase-dependent manner. Instead of recording four theoretically possible phases of neuronal rhythmic activity, we always recorded only two phases, even after the electrical stimulation of the cerebro-buccal connective, which triggers both radula and hook rhythmic movements in the preparation.  相似文献

Growth and metabolic activity of underground shoots of a long-rhizome perennial herbaceous species yarrow (Achillea millefolium L.) were studied. The active growth of rhizomes and the formation of new meristematic zones were observed during the second half of the growing season after termination of aboveground shoot growth. In this period, underground shoots had a rather high rate of respiration (1.3 mg CO2/(g dry wt h)), a considerable content of nonstructural carbohydrates (15% of dry weight), and the elevated activities of IAA, cytokinins, and ABA. In autumn, the rate of respiration of underground shoots decreased to 1.0 mg CO2/(g dry wt h), soluble sugars accumulated, the ratio between unsaturated and saturated fatty acids rose as well as the ratios GA/ABA and cytokinins/ABA. Temperature optimum for the rhizome growth lay in the range of low and moderate above-zero temperatures (5–20°C), and the freezing point of water in the apices of under-ground shoots was about ?10°C. It is concluded that rhizome quiescence predominantly depends on low temperatures and is not associated with the accumulation of growth inhibitors. In the course of plant preparation to winter, morphogenetic transformations in underground shoots depend on changes in the hormonal balance directed in favor of growth hormones and relatively high respiratory activity in the apical zones of the rhizomes.  相似文献

The sy19 mutation, which impairs the homology of meiotic chromosome synapsis in rye, were mapped using a specially created F2 population by means of isozyme Acph1 locus and microsatellite (SSR) markers. The sy19 gene was localized in the chromosome 7R in the pericentromeric region of long arm based on the linked inheritance with the Acph1 locus. The locus was linked with five rye SSR markers, with the Xrems1234 locus being located closest to the sy19 gene (6.4 cM). The genetic map of the analyzed chromosome 7R region includes ten markers and the sy19 locus. A possible function of the Sy1 and Sy19 genes based on the data on comparative genomics is discussed.  相似文献
