Suppressive effects of soluble histocompatibility antigens on the in vitro generation of cytotoxic T cells to D-end alloantigens

Murine histocompatibility antigens were solubilized from the spleens and lungs of C57BL/6 (H-2b) animals with hypertonic salt (3 M KC1). Aggregate-free soluble antigens were incubated with nonadherent lymph node cells from BALB/c (H-2d) mice for 18 hr prior to their use as responder cells in the mixed-lymphocyte reaction (MLR). It was found that the generation of cytotoxic cells was suppressed while the proliferative response was not affected. The observed suppression was not due to a shift in the kinetics of the generation of cytotoxicity as determined throughout a 10-day culture period. The suppression was specific in that the response in MLR to unrelated H-2f stimulator cells and the subsequent generation of cytotoxic cells were unchanged. Using various H-2 recombinant strains as target cells in the assay of cell-mediated lympholysis, suppression of cytotoxicity was observed when the D end, but not the K end, was shared with the C57BL/6 strain from which the antigens were derived.     

Evidence for a new Escherichia coli protein resembling a lysyl-tRNA synthetase.

The amino acid sequence deduced from the nucleotide sequence of an open reading frame adjacent to the frdA gene of Escherichia coli shows 30.5% identity with the C terminus of Escherichia coli lysyl-tRNA synthetases. The three motifs characteristic of aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases of class 2 are recognizable within this sequence.     

植物血细胞凝集素对小鼠脾脏淋巴细胞γ－谷氨酰基转肽酶活性的影响

本文就植物血细胞凝集素（ＰＨＡ）作用的不同时间对小鼠脾脏淋巴细胞γ－谷氨酰基转肽酶（γ－ＧＴ）活性的影响进行了观察。结果表明,脾脏淋巴细胞转化率随给予ＰＨＡ时间的延长而上升,对照组＜２４ｈ组＜４８ｈ组＜７２ｈ组;淋巴细胞γ－ＧＴ活性于２４ｈ明显强于对照组（Ｐ＜０．００１）,随着ＰＨＡ作用时间的延长其γ－ＧＴ活性逐渐下降,即４８ｈ组与对照组已无显著差异,而７２ｈ组却低于对照组（Ｐ＜０．００１）。可见ＰＨＡ在小鼠体内对γ－ＧＴ活性有很大影响。     

急性脑出血综合治疗的几个问题探讨：附死亡80例分析

通过对８０例急性脑出血死亡组分析,发现死于脑疝的占６２．５％,脑疝与一种或二种以上合并症同存者占７７．５％,显著高于存活组（Ｐ＜０．０１）．它们互为因果,加速死亡。因此,应重视早期或超早期采用简易定向锥颅脑内血肿碎吸术吸除血肿,同时注意维持生命体征稳定,加强脱水降颅压,预防、控制合并症等综合治疗。且要全面分析,相互兼顾,正确处置。这是帮助机体渡过调控障碍难关,挽救生命的有效治疗措施。     

A family with a satellited Yq chromosome

Summary A large pedigree with a satellited Yq chromosome is described, Q, C, and NOR banding were performed. Family C proband suffers from a Klinefelter syndrome.     

Calcium binding to phospholipid: structural study of calcium glycerophosphate.

To consider possible interaction of the phospholipid membrane with calcium ions, crystal structures of calcium dl-alpha- and beta-glycerophosphates (alpha- and beta-CaGs, respectively) were investigated by X-ray diffraction methods. After many attempts, relatively large single crystals of beta-CaG were prepared from the aqueous solution containing HCl, while crystals of CaHPO4.2H2O were obtained from alpha-CaG solution under the same crystallization conditions. The crystal structure of beta-CaG is orthorhombic with space group Pna2(1) and cell dimensions of a = 8.251(1), b = 13.038(3), c = 25.483 (10) A, V = 2741.5 (13) A3 and Z = 16 [four molecules (A to D) in an asymmetric unit]. Molecules of A to D took, as a whole, similar extended conformations, although A and B were different from C and D in the orientation about a glycerol C-C bond. Four independent beta-glycerophosphates commonly act as two types of bidentate ligands, where one is the coordination to the calcium ion by the glycerol O(1) and phosphate O(22) atoms, and the other by the phosphate O(22) and O(23) atoms, thus forming the calcium coordination of a distorted square plane, respectively. Each of four independent calcium ions forms the same coordination geometry of a distorted pentagonal bipyramid. Infinite double layers consisting of alternate A/B molecules and of alternative C/D ones and sandwiching calcium ions were arranged face-to-face along the b-direction and were piled up in the a-direction, thus forming the stacked bilayer unit with the thickness of d002 = 12.75 A. The elaborate networks of calcium coordinations and hydrogen bondings were formed among the layers and stabilized the crystal structure. Based on the structural parameters of the present beta-CaG crystal, a possible interaction model of phospholipid with calcium ions was proposed.     

Immunohistochemical localization of 36 and 29 kDa proteins in sparganum.

Antigenic proteins of 36 and 29 kDa were localized in Spirometra mansoni plerocercoid (sparganum) immunohistochemically by avidin biotin complex (ABC) staining. When polyclonal antibodies such as BALB/c mouse serum immunized with crude saline extract of sparganum or confirmed sparganosis sera were reacted as primary antibodies, the positive chromogen (3-amino, 9-ethylcarbazole) reactions were recognized at syncytial tegument, tegumental cells, muscle and parenchymal cells and lining cells of excretory canals. A monoclonal antibody (MAb) which was reacting to 36 and 29 kDa proteins in the extract of the worm was localized at the syncytial tegument and tegumental cells. The present results suggested that the potent antigenic proteins of 36 and 29 kDa in sparganum were produced at the tegumental cells and transported to the syncytial tegument.
