Results are presented from experimental studies of the correlation between X-ray and neutron emissions generated in the implosion of a deuteron plasma shell onto an Al wire. The experiments were carried out on the PF-1000 facility at currents of 1.5–1.8 MA. An Al wire 80 μm in diameter and 7–9 cm in length was placed at the end of the inner electrode. During the implosion of the plasma shell, Al K-shell X-rays were first emitted at the dip of the current derivative. After the X-ray pulse, a relatively stable corona with a diameter of 2–3 mm and lifetime of a few hundred nanoseconds formed around the wire. The presence of the wire did not considerably reduce the total neutron yield (at most 1011 neutrons per shot) in comparison to discharges without a wire. As a rule, the intensity of neutron emission was maximal a few tens of nanoseconds after the peak of X-ray emission. A detailed comparison of two shots with low and high neutron yields have shown that the neutron yield depends on the configuration and dynamics of the discharge. The possible influence of the self-generated axial component of the magnetic field on the development of the plasma focus and the acceleration of fast deuterons is discussed.  相似文献

Purpose

Significant obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) is common in asymptomatic dialysis patients. Identifying these high risk patients is warranted and may improve the prognosis of this vulnerable patient group. Routine catheterization of incident dialysis patients has been proposed, but is considered too invasive. CT-angiography may therefore be more appropriate. However, extensive coronary calcification, often present in this patient group, might hamper adequate lumen evaluation. The objective of this study was to assess the feasibility of CT-angiography in this patient group.

Methods

For this analysis all patients currently participating in the ICD2 trial (ISRCTN20479861), with no history of PCI or CABG were included. The major epicardial vessels were evaluated on a segment basis (segment 1–3, 5–8, 11 and 13) by a team consisting of an interventional and an imaging specialist. Segments were scored as not significant, significant and not interpretable.

Results

A total of 70 dialysis patients, with a mean age of 66±8 yrs and predominantly male (70%) were included. The median calcium score was 623 [79, 1619].Over 90% of the analyzed segments were considered interpretable. The incidence of significant CAD on CT was 43% and was associated with cardiovascular events during follow-up. The incidence of cardiovascular events after 2-years follow-up: 36% vs. 0% in patients with no significant CAD (p<0.01).

Conclusion

Despite the high calcium scores CT-angiography is feasible for the evaluation of the extent of CAD in dialysis patients. Moreover the presence of significant CAD on CT was associated with events during follow-up.  相似文献

Summary The Plackett–Burman screening method was utilized as a tool to evaluate the importance of the selected six factors, including methanol, ethanol, propanol, butanol, pH and time, which are relevant to the extraction of the antimicrobial substance produced by Bacillus sp. fmbJ. The main factors that affected the extraction of the antimicrobial substance were determined as methanol (P < 0.0001), ethanol (P < 0.0001), pH (P = 0.0032), and time (P < 0.0001) by using the JMP software. Within the test ranges, methanol, ethanol, and time showed a significant positive relativity to the total extracted amounts respectively; while pH had a significant negative effect. The maximum prediction profile indicated that the total extracted amounts for the antimicrobial substance would reach 50.21 mg/100 ml with 99.64% probability.  相似文献

Dull/glossy fruit skin is a highly valuable external quality trait that affects the market value of cucumbers. In this study, genetic analysis showed that one single dominant gene, D (dull fruit skin), determines the dull fruit skin trait in cucumber. By combining bulked segregant analysis with 11 published polymorphic molecular markers on chromosome 5, the D/d gene was preliminarily mapped between markers SCZ69 and SSR16203, at genetic distances of 0.3 and 0.6 cM, respectively. Subsequently, a larger F2 (S06 × S94) population (842 individuals in total) was used for high-resolution mapping of the D/d gene. Finally, the D/d gene was fine-mapped between markers SSR37 and SSR112, at a physical distance of 244.9 kb (containing 31 candidate genes), using eight newly developed polymorphic simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers between SCZ69 and SSR16203. Based on semi-quantitative RT-PCR analysis, the possible candidate gene D was identified as Csa016880 or Csa016887. Meanwhile, validity analysis of the markers SSR37 and SSR112 was performed with 72 dull/glossy fruit lines, and showed that the two co-dominant SSR markers could be used for marker-assisted selection of the dull/glossy fruit trait in cucumber breeding. Vanadium (V) is a transition metal found in the Earth crust. V adversely affects plant growth and development. Besides several other management practices, grafting of scion cultivars onto appropriate rootstock provides a suitable solution. Grafting is an important agro-technical procedure utilized to enhance the capacity of plants to tolerate biotic and abiotic stresses. In this study, watermelon was grafted onto bottle gourd and pumpkin rootstock, and self-grafted watermelon plants were utilized as a control. V was applied at the rate of 50 mg/L under hydroponic conditions. The result showed that V application substantially reduces the growth of watermelon plants, however, grafting of watermelon onto bottle gourd and pumpkin rootstock improves V stress tolerance of watermelon by reducing the V concentration in leaf tissues, improving the relative chlorophyll content (SPAD index) and photosynthetic assimilation, up-regulating the expression of SOD (Cla008698, Cla0012125, Cla009820 and Cla001158), glutathione S-transferase (Cla013224) and glutathione peroxidase (Cla021039) genes in the leaves, and enhancing the activities of antioxidant enzymes (SOD, CAT). The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) of the root tips showed that minimal damage of roots was observed for pumpkin roots compared with the roots of watermelon and bottle gourd under V stress conditions. So far as we know, these results are the first evidence that grafting mitigates V stress in plants.  相似文献

Copper is an essential transition metal but is toxic in excess; therefore, its metabolism needs to be tightly regulated. Defects in the regulation of copper can lead to various disorders characterized by copper deficiency or copper excess. Recently, we characterized the COMMD1 (previously MURR1) gene as the defective gene in canine copper toxicosis. The molecular functions of COMMD1 remain unknown, but significant progress has been made in identifying the cellular processes in which COMMD1 participates, through the identification of proteins interacting with COMMD1. This review discusses how COMMD1 functions as a regulator of not only copper homeostasis but also sodium transport and the NF-kappaB signaling pathway. We outline the possible mechanisms through which COMMD1 exerts these newly identified functions.  相似文献

Background  

Existing cut-offs for fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and post-load glucose (2hPG) criteria are not equivalent in the diagnosis of diabetes and glucose intolerance. Adjusting cut-offs of single measurements have not helped so we undertook this project to see if they could be complementary.  相似文献
