Three new wood-decaying polypores from China, Antrodiella lactea, A. nanospora and Frantisekia abieticola, are described and illustrated using morphological characteristics and rDNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and large subunit (LSU) sequences. Phylogenetic analyses of the generated sequences, along with those retrieved from GenBank, confirmed the polyphyly of the genus Antrodiella. The Antrodiella s.s. clade includes A. citrinella, A. faginea, A. hoehnelii, A. ichnusana, A. lactea, A. micra, A. nanospora, A. onychoides, A. pallasii, A. pallescens, A. parasitica, A. romellii, A. semisupina and A. stipitata. Antrodiella albocinnamomea and A. zonata grouped with Cerrena unicolour in the Cerrena clade, and they are transferred to Cerrena, as C. albocinnamomea and C. zonata were proposed. The main morphological characters of the genus Antrodiella s.s., and discriminating characters of the new species and the closely related species are discussed.  相似文献

The genus Argiope represents a collection of morphologically diverse orb-weaving spiders with a cosmopolitan distribution. Argiope dang and A. mangal are two Southeast Asian species that share remarkably similar morphological characteristics congeneric to the A. aetherea species group. However, in previous investigations, molecular data have not been used for the taxonomic categorization of A. dang and A. mangal. Additionally, gene flow between populations of A. dang and of A. mangal in their natural habitats has not been adequately studied. In the present study, mitochondrial 16S, COI and COII markers were used in addition to the nuclear H3 gene to elucidate the relationships between A. dang, A. mangal and various congeners within the A. aetherea species group. The haplotype diversity of A. dang and A. mangal was also investigated. Based on our molecular results, the A. aetherea species group was composed of three genetic lineages: (i) [A. dang - (A. radon - A. picta)] - [A. modesta - A. aetherea]; (ii) A. mangal; and (iii) [(A. jinghongensis - A. aetheroides) - A. versicolor]. Haplotype analyses revealed a lack of gene flow between A. mangal populations in Peninsular Malaysia and those in Singapore. Populations of A. dang showed isolation-by-distance throughout the range of the species from Laos to Singapore. In this study for the first time, genetic data of A. mangal were reported for specimens collected from its type locality, Singapore. Four new distribution records were also reported: A. dang in Peninsular Malaysia and Cambodia; A. modesta in Bali, Indonesia; and A. jinghongensis in Peninsular Malaysia.  相似文献

Crossability relationships between six species of the Mediterranean, North American and Asian firs was tested using Abies alba and A. nordmanniana as female parents and A. alba, A. numidica, A. procera, A. grandis, and A. holophylla as pollen parents. An overwhelming majority of the crosses attempted was found to be compatible. In particular, it is true of the A. alba cross with A. numidica and those of A. nordmanniana with A. alba, A. numidica, A. procera, and A. holophylla. The crossing A. nordmanniana × A. grandis was the only exception producing empty seeds. Cytological study revealed the gametophytic incompatibility to be responsible for reproductive isolation of these species. At seedling level, all the interspecific crosses of A. nordmanniana surpassed in height growth self-pollinated control. The cross A. alba × A. numidica was comparable in this respect with control variants from open and self-pollination. Except for height growth, some characteristics of needle stomata are provided for individual crosses. The crosses A. nordmanniana with A. procera and A. holophylla represent unique interspecific combinations whose existence has not been reported yet. Based on needle stomata characteristics, the potential for increased resistance and drought tolerance of the hybrids with A. numidica involved as parental species is discussed.  相似文献

This morphometric study of the geographic variation in the Abies religiosa–hickelii–guatemalensis complex is based on samples from 15 Guatemalan and 12 Mexican populations, two populations of A. religiosa s.str. and A. hickelii s.str., and herbarium specimens of A. hickelii, A. vejarii and varieties of A. guatemalensis. The multivariate methods employed were principal components analysis, and UPGMA clustering. The multivariate and univariate analyses based on 231 operational taxonomic units imply that although morphological differences exist distinct morphospecies cannot be recognized within the A. religiosa–hickelii–guatemalensis complex. A Mantel’s test reports that taxonomic dissimilarities are significantly related to geographic distance. We suggest, therefore, that A. religiosa, A. hickelii and A. guatemalensis are merged so that A. hickelii is referred to as A. religiosa subsp. hickelii (Flous & Gaussen) U. Strandby, K.I. Chr. & M. Sørensen, comb. et stat. nov. and A. guatemalensis as A. religiosa subsp. mexicana (Martínez) U. Strandby, K.I. Chr. & M. Sørensen, comb. nov. According to our analyses A. vejarii cannot retain its status as a separate taxon as the material studied is nested within A. religiosa subsp. mexicana.  相似文献

The effect of temporary treatment with chloramphenicol or rifampicin on the survival of UV irradiated cells of selected Escherichia coli K12 radiation sensitive mutants was examined. Increased survival resulted for both exrA and recA mutants, and also for the unsuppressed lon mutant, but cells of the parent strain and the recB mutant were not rescued. This contrasts with our earlier finding that after exposure of the bacteria to γ-rays, chloramphenicol treatment rescued the exrA and lon mutants but not the recA mutant. We now report that an exrA recA double mutant was rescued by chlramphenicol after UV radiation, but not after anaerobic ionizing radiation. Inclusion of inhibitors of uvrA governed repair, caffeine and 8-methoxypsoralen (8-MOP), in the incubation medium containing chloramphenicol, did not reduce the rescue of the exrA or recA mutants, although caffeine eliminated rescue of the lon mutant, which was itself unaffected by 8-MOP. However it is concluded that chlormaphenicol rescue of the exrA and recA mutants after UV radiation was not entirely independent of the excision-repair process, since the uvrA recA and uvrA exrA double mutants were not rescued by this treatment.  相似文献

Analytical data for the gum exudates from Acacia difficilis, A. dimidiata, A. eriopoda, A. maidenii, A. stipuligera, A. torulosa and A. tumida are presented. Of these, five are highly proteinaceous; they also have high methoxyl contents and very low rhamnose contents. In contrast, A. dimidiata shows no unusual analytical parameters, and A. maidenii gum has alowarabinose content and a high rhamnose content, thus having a sugar composition of the type first observed in the gum from A. saligna. The gum from A. maidenii is also of interest as its analytical data are closely similar to those for A. longifolia, the only other tetramerous member of the subseries Juliflorae to have been studied. The data reported extend even further the unusual ranges of analytical parameters found within the Juliflorae, and confirm its great heterogeneity and chemotaxonomic interest.  相似文献

The molecular phylogeny of Acarosporaceae with a focus on the recently proposed genus Polysporinopsis was investigated using maximum parsimony and Bayesian analyses, using nuITS-LSU and mtSSU rDNA sequence datasets. A well-supported monophyletic clade corresponding to Acarospora (including the type species A. schleicheri, A. fuscata, A. nitrophila, A. rugulosa, A. bullata, A. sinopica, A molybdina and A. peliscypha) was present in all analyses. Acarospora as currently delimited is not monophyletic; neither A. smaragdula nor A. badiofusca belongs to the genus in the restricted sense. Polysporinopsis, which comprises three species previously classified in Acarospora (P. sinopica-type species, P. smaragdula, and P. rugulosa) is not a monophyletic group separate from Acarospora s. str. Acarospora sinopica and A. smaragdula are not closely related; A. sinopica belongs to Acarospora s. str., but A. smaragdula is one of the most basal taxa currently known in Acarosporaceae.  相似文献

Qualitative and quantitative differences in population growth patterns of Aphelenchoides rutgersi from Florida, A. sacchari from Jamaica, A. dactylocercus from Great Britain, and A. cibolensis from New Mexico were assessed on 28 species of fungi. The patterns of population growth of A. rutgersi and A. sacchari were statistically similar although not identical, and they differed considerably from those of A. dactylocercus and A. cibolensis. It is suggested that A. rutgersi and A. sacchari, from Florida and Jamaica respectively, may be more closely related to each other than to either A. dactylocercus or A. cibolensis.  相似文献

The genome sequence of Aspergillus oryzae revealed unexpectedly that this species has approximately 20% more genes than its congeneric species A. nidulans and A. fumigatus. Where did these extra genes come from? Here, we evaluate several possible causes of the elevated gene number. Many gene families are expanded in A. oryzae relative to A. nidulans and A. fumigatus, but we find no evidence of ancient whole-genome duplication or other segmental duplications, either in A. oryzae or in the common ancestor of the genus Aspergillus. We show that the presence of divergent pairs of paralogs is a feature peculiar to A. oryzae and is not shared with A. nidulans or A. fumigatus. In phylogenetic trees that include paralog pairs from A. oryzae, we frequently find that one of the genes in a pair from A. oryzae has the expected orthologous relationship with A. nidulans, A. fumigatus and other species in the subphylum Eurotiomycetes, whereas the other A. oryzae gene falls outside this clade but still within the Ascomycota. We identified 456 such gene pairs in A. oryzae. Further phylogenetic analysis did not however indicate a single consistent evolutionary origin for the divergent members of these pairs. Approximately one-third of them showed phylogenies that are suggestive of horizontal gene transfer (HGT) from Sordariomycete species, and these genes are closer together in the A. oryzae genome than expected by chance, but no unique Sordariomycete donor species was identifiable. The postulated HGTs from Sordariomycetes still leave the majority of extra A. oryzae genes unaccounted for. One possible explanation for our observations is that A. oryzae might have been the recipient of many separate HGT events from diverse donors.  相似文献

Three species ofAmaranthusare cultivated for their edible seeds:A. hypochondriacus L.,A. cruentusL., andA. caudatusL. The first two are native to Mexico and Guatemala, while the third originated in the Andes. Some authors recognize a fourth species,A. MantegazzianusPass. (A. edulisSpeg.), also from South America. Recent interest in amaranths as crops for improving Third World nutrition makes studies of relationships among amaranth species and intraspecific variation important. The weedy speciesA. hybridus L. (A. quitensisHBK) has been suggested as the progenitor ofA. caudatus, and it appears to be the closest wild relative of the crop. However, discovery of semidomesticated, darkseeded amaranths in Ecuador that are referable toA. caudatusraises some questions. The dark-seeded plants might represent a transitional form between the crop and its weedy progenitor, the product of independent selection of special forms ofA. hybridus, the result of introgressive hybridization between the crop and related weed, established escapes from cultivation, or remnants of the ancestor of the crop which may have been simply wildA. caudatusand notA. hybridus. Detailed morphological comparisons have been made among cultivated forms ofA. caudatus, the semidomesticate, andA. hybridus. Genetic data have been considered, and 2 mixed populations includingA. hybridusand the semidomesticate have been examined. Although all the other hypotheses cannot be eliminated, the dark-seededA. caudatusplants seem most likely to represent escapes from cultivation. Separate recognition ofA. Mantegazzianusdoes not seem warranted.  相似文献

A group of human cytochrome P450 genes encompassing the CYP2A, CYP2B, and CYP2F subfamilies were cloned and assembled into a 350-kb contig localized on the long arm of chromosome 19. Three complete CYP2A genes—CYP2A6, CYP2A7, and CYP2A13—plus two pseudogenes truncated after exon 5, were identified and sequenced. A variant CYP2A6 allele that differed from the corresponding CYP2A6 and CYP2A7 cDNAs previously sequenced was found and was designated CYP2A6ν2. Sequence differences in the CYP2A6ν2 gene are restricted to regions encompassing exons 3, 6, and 8, which bear sequence relatedness with the corresponding exons of the CYP2A7 gene, located downstream and centromeric of CYP2A6ν2, suggesting recent gene-conversion events. The sequencing of all the CYP2A genes allowed the design of a PCR diagnostic test for the normal CYP2A6 allele, the CYP2A6ν2 allele, and a variant—designated CYP2A6ν1—that encodes an enzyme with a single inactivating amino acid change. These variant alleles were found in individuals who were deficient in their ability to metabolize the CYP2A6 probe drug coumarin. The allelic frequencies of CYP2A6ν1 and CYP2A6ν2 differed significantly between Caucasian, Asian, and African-American populations. These studies establish the existence of a new cytochrome P450 genetic polymorphism.  相似文献

The south Asian amisegine genus Atoposega Krombein, 1957, is reevaluated. Three new species, A. rufithorax, A. striata and A. thailandica are described from Thailand and the previously described species, A. lineata (Krombein, 1957) from Borneo, A. rieki (Krombein, 1957) from Myanmar and A. simulans Kimsey, 1986 from Malaysia are redescribed. The species, A. decorata Kimsey, 1995, was found to lack the generic characters diagnostic for Atoposega. Atoposega is only known from females.  相似文献

Fraxin and esculin were characterized in stems and fruits of A. deliciosa (kiwifruit) and A. chinensis. These two coumarins were not present in several other Actinidia species belonging to the four sections of the genus Actinidia such as A. callosa, A. eriantha, A. hemsleyana, A. arguta, A. kolomikta, A. melanandra, A. polygama. Our results support the opinion that A. deliciosa and A. chinensis are closely related and likely belonging to the same species.  相似文献
