Summary H3-thymidine labeled lymphocytes from thymus and lymph nodes of donor rats were washed and injected in to the intestine of recipient rats on the 11th and 19th day of gestation; subsequent labeling of maternal and embryonal cells was studied autoradiographically 24 hours after injection. In 12-day embryos, numerous stem cells or hemocytoblasts were labeled frequently intensely. In 20-day embryos, stem cells or hemocytoblasts scattered throughout the liver were often labeled. In other fetal tissues at this stage, cells in thymus, spleen, mesenteric lymph node and intestine were labeled but scarcely and weakly. In mothers, labeling in lymphoid tissues was scarce but definite, in thymus, mesenteric lymph node and spleen. These results suggest that nuclear materials from lymphocytes emigrated into the intestinal canal of the mother could be reutilized by maternal and embryonal cells.  相似文献

A monoclonal antibody specific for rat intestinal lymphocytes   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
A monoclonal antibody, RGL-1, was produced by fusion of NSI myeloma cells with spleen cells of a mouse immunized with isolated rat intraepithelial lymphocytes (IEL). SDS-PAGE analysis revealed that RGL-1 precipitated two major noncovalently bound chains of about m.w. 100,000 and 125,000, and a minor component of m.w. 200,000. Examination of both tissue sections and isolated cells indicated that RGL-1 stained the majority of the lamina propria lymphocytes and IEL but only very few cells (less than 2%) in the lymphoid organs and small numbers of lymphocytes in other mucosae. In the small intestine, RGL-1 stained lymphocytes with the helper (W3/25) as well as the cytotoxic/suppressor (OX8) phenotype. The antibody reacted with 95% of the granular IEL but with less than 0.1% of the blood large granular lymphocytes. Although mature IgA plasma cells in the lamina propria were RGL-1-, some large IgA-containing cells were weakly positive. In the gut-associated lymphoid tissues (GALT), studies combining immunofluorescence and autoradiography indicated that 56 and 73% of rapidly dividing cells of mesenteric lymph nodes and of thoracic duct lymph (TDL) stained with RGL-1, respectively. In addition, 90 to 100% of the IgA-containing blasts of MLN and 75% of those of TDL were labeled by RGL-1. In contrast, rapidly dividing cells of spleen and of peripheral lymph nodes did not stain with RGL-1. Because RGL-1 can be demonstrated on both intestinal lymphocytes and their immediate precursors in the GALT, its expression may be related to the homing of lymphocytes into the gut mucosa.  相似文献

This study was carried out to determine the influence of short chain fatty acids (SCFA) on spleen and mesenteric lymph node lymphocyte proliferation, goblet cells and apoptosis in the mouse small intestine during invasion by Trichinella spiralis. BALB/c mice were infected with 250 larvae of T. spiralis. An SCFA water solution containing acetic, propionic and butyric acids (30:15:20 mM) was administered orally starting 5 days before infection and ending 20 days post infection (dpi). Fragments of the jejunum were collected by dissection 7 and 10 dpi, and were examined for apoptotic cells in the lamina propria of the intestinal mucosa, and for goblet cells. The proliferation index of the cultured spleen and mesenteric lymph node lymphocytes with MTT test was also determined. The orally administered SCFA solution decreased the proliferation of mesenteric lymph node lymphocytes in the mice infected with T. spiralis at both examination times, but did not influence the proliferative activity of the spleen cells. Seven dpi, both in the spleen and mesenteric lymph nodes, the highest proliferation index of concanavalin A (Con A)-stimulated lymphocytes was found in the group of uninfected animals receiving SCFA animals. This tendency could still be seen 10 dpi in the mesenteric lymph nodes but not in the spleen, where the proliferation index in this group had significantly decreased. In vitro studies revealed, that butyric and propionic acids added to the cell cultures suppressed the proliferation of Con A-stimulated mesenteric lymph nodes and spleen lymphocytes taken from uninfected and T. spiralis-infected mice. Acetic acid stimulated proliferation of splenocytes taken from uninfected mice but did not affect lymphocyte proliferation in mesenteric lymph nodes from uninfected or infected mice. Orally administered SCFA increased the number of goblet cells found in the epithelium of the jejunum 7 dpi, but this number had decreased 10 dpi. The number of apoptotic cells in the lamina propria of the intestinal mucosa of animals infected with the T. spiralis and receiving SCFA was also lower, particularly 10 dpi. The above results show that SCFA can participate in the immune response during the course of trichinellosis in mice.  相似文献

Bacterial translocation across the intestinal mucosal barrier leads to a macrophage-mediated inflammatory response, visceral hyperalgesia, and ileus. Our aim was to examine how mediators released into mesenteric lymph following LPS treatment influence intestinal afferent sensitivity and the role played by prostanoids in any sensitization. Intestinal lymph was collected from awake rats following treatment with either saline or LPS (5 mg/kg ip). Extracellular multiunit afferent recordings were made from paravascular mesenteric nerve bundles supplying the rat jejunum in vitro following arterial administration of control lymph, LPS lymph, and LPS. Mesenteric afferent discharge increased significantly after LPS lymph compared with control lymph. Peak discharge occurred within 2 min and remained elevated for 5 to 8 min. This response was attenuated by pretreatment with naproxen (10 microM), and restored upon addition of prostaglandin E(2) (5 microM) in the presence of naproxen, but AH6809 (5 microM), an EP(1)/EP(2) receptor(s) antagonist, failed to decrease the magnitude of LPS lymph-induced response. LPS itself also stimulated mesenteric afferent discharge but was unaffected by naproxen. TNF-alpha was significantly increased in LPS lymph compared with control lymph (1,583 +/- 197 vs. 169 +/- 38 pg/ml, P < 0.01) but exogenous TNF-alpha failed to evoke any afferent nerve discharge. We concluded that inflammatory mediators released from the gut into mesenteric lymph during endotoxemia have a profound effect on afferent discharge. These mediators influence afferent firing via the release of local prostaglandins.  相似文献

Meprins are metalloendopeptidases expressed by leukocytes in the lamina propria of the human inflamed bowel, that degrade extracellular matrix proteins in vitro implicating them in leukocyte transmigration events. The aims of these studies were to 1) examine the expression of meprins in the mouse mesenteric lymph node, 2) determine whether macrophages express meprins, and 3) determine whether deletion of the meprin beta gene (Mep-1beta) mitigated the ability of leukocytes to disseminate through extracellular matrix in vitro. These studies show that meprin alpha and beta are expressed in leukocytes of the mouse mesenteric lymph node, and meprin alpha, but not beta, decreased during intestinal inflammation. Deletion of Mep-1beta gene decreased the ability of leukocytes to migrate through matrigel compared with wild-type leukocytes. Meprin beta, but not alpha, was detected in cortical and medullary macrophages of the lymph node. Thus overall, meprin beta is expressed by leukocytes in the draining lymph node of the intestine, regardless of the inflammatory status of the animal, and is likely to contribute to leukocyte transmigration events important to intestinal immune responses. Thus, the expression of meprins by leukocytes of the intestinal immune system may have important implications for diseases such as inflammatory bowel diseases, which are aggravated by leukocyte infiltration.  相似文献

Topical transcutaneous immunization (TCI) presents many clinical advantages, but its underlying mechanism remains unknown. TCI induced Ag-specific IgA Ab-secreting cells expressing CCR9 and CCR10 in the small intestine in a retinoic acid-dependent manner. These intestinal IgA Abs were maintained in Peyer's patch-null mice but abolished in the Peyer's patch- and lymph node-null mice. The mesenteric lymph node (MLN) was shown to be the site of IgA isotype class switching after TCI. Unexpectedly, langerin(+)CD8alpha(-) dendritic cells emerged in the MLN after TCI; they did not migrate from the skin but rather differentiated rapidly from bone marrow precursors. Depletion of langerin(+) cells impaired intestinal IgA Ab responses after TCI. Taken together, these findings suggest that MLN is indispensable for the induction of intestinal IgA Abs following skin immunization and that cross-talk between the skin and gut immune systems might be mediated by langerin(+) dendritic cells in the MLN.  相似文献

To define further the basis of T cell function in the inductive and effector limbs of the normal intestinal immune system, the capacity of mucosal lymphocytes to produce and use lymphokines and their effects on regulation of Ig production were determined in normal nonhuman primates. Northern blots of RNA from mitogen-activated lamina propria T cells contained more mRNA for IL-2 and IFN-gamma than did mesenteric lymph node T cells. In comparison with lymphocytes from peripheral sites, there was high expression of IL-4 and IL-5 mRNA in both mesenteric lymph node and lamina propria T cells. In studies of lymphokine utilization, T cells from lamina propria had high IL-2-induced but no IL-4-induced proliferative responses. In contrast, mesenteric lymph node T cells had high IL-4-induced and lower IL-2-induced proliferative responses compared with lamina propria T cells. Lamina propria T cells had higher helper activity in PWM-stimulated cultures and exhibited less inhibition by IL-4 than did mesenteric lymph node T cells. These data and previous studies suggest that T cells in an inductive site such as the mesenteric lymph node are a mixed population containing both "naive" cells with low potential for IFN-gamma and IL-2 production and differentiated cells with high potential for IL-4 and IL-5 production. In contrast, the data suggest that T cells in the effector compartment of the lamina propria are comprised primarily of differentiated "memory" cells that produce high levels of IL-2, IFN-gamma, IL-4, and IL-5, have high helper activity, and have a more limited ability to proliferate in response to lymphokines such as IL-4.  相似文献

We conducted a longitudinal study of the development of lymphoid tissue in fetal small intestine transplanted to a subcutaneous site in adult syngeneic Fischer strain rats. Fetal jejunoileal segments obtained between 18 and 21 days of gestation were transplanted to a dorsal subcutaneous site on syngeneic adult rats. Three weeks later, intestinal segments greater than 2.5 cm in length were found in 70% of recipients. Each week for 6 wk post-transplantation, a full-thickness biopsy was obtained for histologic and immunohistologic examination. At the time of transplantation, fetal rat intestine did not display Peyer's patches, intraepithelial lymphocytes, lymphoid follicles, or IgA-containing plasma cells. These lymphoid structures reached adult levels by 4 wk after transplantation, and the sequence of development of the lymphoid structures in the transplants appeared to match the postnatal development of normal small intestine. After immunizing the in situ intestine or the transplanted fetal intestine with cholera toxin, the number of cells producing specific antibodies to the immunogen increased significantly in intestinal transplants and in situ intestine. In contrast, few if any cells synthesizing antibodies to cholera toxin developed in the transplants after i.p. immunization. This study suggests that fetal intestinal transplants behave as part of the mucosal immune system. This model may provide useful approaches to studying the development of mucosal immunity.  相似文献

The presence of glucose in the intestinal lumen elicits a number of changes in gastrointestinal function, including inhibition of gastric emptying and food intake and stimulation of pancreatic and intestinal secretion. The present study tested the hypothesis that Na(+)-glucose cotransporter (SGLT)-3, a member of the SGLT family of transport proteins, is involved in detection of luminal glucose in the intestine. Gastric emptying, measured in awake rats, was significantly inhibited by perfusion of the intestine with glucose (60 and 90 mg); this effect was mimicked by alpha-methyl glucose (nonmetabolizable substrate of SGLT-1 and -3) but not 2-deoxy-d-glucose (substrate for GLUT-2) or isoosmotic mannitol. Gastric motility and intestinal fluid secretion, measured in anesthetised rats, were significantly inhibited and stimulated, respectively, by duodenal glucose but not galactose, which has a much lower affinity for SGLT-3 than glucose. Duodenal glucose but not galactose stimulated the release of 5-HT into mesenteric lymph and stimulated the discharge of duodenal vagal afferent fibers. mRNA for SGLT-3 was identified in the duodenal mucosa. Together these data suggest that detection of glucose in the intestine may involve SGLT-3, possibly expressed by enterochromaffin cells in the intestinal mucosa, and release of 5-HT.  相似文献

The structure of the Peyer's patches and mesenteric lymph nodes of rats at different periods after polychemotherapy was investigated by light microscopy. After the use of antitumor drugs the number of the blasts and mytoses in the lymphoid follicles with the mesenteric lymph node bright centres and in the Peyer's patch follicles lowered, that along with the decrease of the size of the mantle zone in the lymph node follicles and the decrease of the area of the bright centres in the follicles of the lympoid formations in the intestinal wall was evident of the proliferation inhibition and B cells differentiation in the lymphoid organs. After the polychemotherapy the size of the germinative centres of the Payer's patch follicles decreased while the size of the mantle zone remained unchanged. The size of the mantle zone in the follicles of the mesenteric lymph nodes decreased while the size of the germinative centres did not change. The different responses of the lymphoid organs could be associated with some remote location of the lymph nodes with respect to the antigen source (damaged epithelium and intestinal lumen contents).  相似文献

Others have shown that Peyer's patch (PP) precursor cells can seed the small intestine with IgA plasma cells, whose appearance after cell transfer requires an interval of a week. The location of the precursor cells during this period is the subject of the present investigation in which the fate of radiolabeled murine PP cells was studied after intravenous transfer into primary and secondary recipients. In short-term single-transfer experiments, few radiolabeled PP blasts were found in the small intestine and only a small proportion of these contained IgA. Radiolabeled PP blasts were approximately equally distributed between mesenteric lymph nodes (MN) and peripheral lymph nodes (PN). However, a higher proportion of those which went to MN than of those which went to PN was subsequently capable of settling in the small intestine of secondary recipients and a higher proportion of those arriving in the intestine was found to contain IgA. Thus, MN were distinctly superior to PN as an intermediate site for the maturation of PP-derived IgA plasma cell precursors capable of seeding the small intestine, even when these had been injected intravenously. Treatment of PP cells with antiserum to IgA prior to their injection into primary recipients interfered with the homing of IgA precursor cells to the small intestine of secondary recipients, indicating that the precursors are already producing IgA while still in the PP. IgA-containing, radiolabeled PP cells were found in the subcapsular sinus of MN within 30 min of intravenous injection, suggesting that these cells are capable of extravasating from blood and reaching the lymph within the intestine long before they are ready to remain in the intestine as plasma cells. These results imply that the superiority of MN over PN as an intermediate site for the proliferation and differentiation of PP IgA precursor cells into IgA plasma cells capable of seeding the small intestine is due to the location of the MN in the pathway of circulation of mucosal B cells.  相似文献

B-cell responses of 3 immunoglobulin isotypes (IgA, IgG, and IgM) were investigated in the large intestine and mesenteric lymph nodes (MLN) of naive or immune mice after inoculation of oocysts of Eimeria falciformis. Primary and anamnestic IgA and IgG lymphocyte responses to E. falciformis occurred in the large intestine of nonimmune and immune mice, respectively. IgA-containing lymphocytes (IgAc) were the largest population of responding B cells in the large intestine. In infected mice, IgAc accumulated in the apical portion of the lamina propria, whereas IgG-containing lymphocytes (IgGc) were more numerous at the base of the lamina propria. No significant increase in the number of IgM-containing lymphocytes (IgMc) was observed in the lamina propria of the large intestine. Primary but no anamnestic B-cell responses occurred in the MLN, and immune mice actually had reduced numbers of IgAc and IgGc in the MLN when compared with naive mice. IgGc were the largest population of responding B cells in the MLN. Thus, IgAc appear to accumulate preferentially at the site of parasite development, whereas IgGc are primarily localized deeper in the lamina propria of the large intestine and in the draining lymph nodes of mice infected with E. falciformis.  相似文献

Summary In normal young minipigs thin slices of autologous mesenteric or superficial inguinal lymph nodes were implanted either in the greater omentum or subcutaneously in the groin region. The regeneration was studied histologically and connections between the afferent lymphatics and the regenerated tissue were checked. In the greater omentum, no regenerated lymph node tissue was found. In the inguinal region, lymphoid tissue with all the typical lymph node compartments was identified following antigenic stimulation in the draining area. Sinuses, germinal centres with a lymphatic corona, and a paracortex with typical high endothelial venules were seen. There was evidence of afferent lymphatics, e.g., macroscopically visible lymphatics, the occurrence of a subcutaneously injected dye, the effect of antigenic stimulation and a normal lymph node structure. Avascular transplants of autologous lymph node fragments regenerate subcutaneously, possibly providing a future technique for treating lymphoedema after radical excision or irradiation of lymph nodes.  相似文献

We determined the capacity of primate (macaque monkey) intestinal mucosal lymphocytes to mediate natural killer cytotoxicity, and characterized the nature of cells mediating this form of cytotoxicity in the intestine. Isolated macaque monkey intestinal mucosal lymphocytes were found to have intermediate levels of spontaneous cytotoxicity against K562 target cells compared to higher values found in lymphocytes of peripheral blood (PBL) and spleen and low values for mesenteric lymph node (MLN) lymphocytes. Intestinal lymphocytes were similar to PBL in having the same range of target cell specificites, in having augmentation of activity by interferon or interleukin 2, and in demonstrating specificity in cold target inhibition studies. Both intestinal and PBL spontaneous cytotoxic function in primates was mediated predominantly by cells bearing antigens cross-reactive with the anti-human monoclonal antibody Leu-11. The percentage of Leu-11+ lymphocytes was significantly lower in isolated intestinal, spleen, and MLN lymphocytes compared to peripheral blood. Furthermore, isolated intestinal lymphocytes differed from PBL in that intestinal Leu-11+ were predominantly Leu-15-, while Leu-11+ PBL were predominantly Leu-15+. These studies demonstrate that the lower spontaneous cytotoxic function of intestinal mucosal lymphocytes compared to PBL is associated with a lower number of effector cells and with effector cells which differ qualitatively in expression of the Leu-15 antigen.  相似文献

Lamina propria dendritic cells (DCs) have a permanent turnover with constitutive migration to mesenteric lymph nodes and replenishment by progenitors. Luminal bacteria and dietary constituents provide key signals that endow DCs their unique properties in vivo. Taking into account that the intestinal immune system is greatly influenced by retinoids, we evaluated in B6 mice 3, 8, 16 and 24 h after feeding a single dose of vitamin A phenotype and function of cells present in mesenteric afferent lymph nodes as well as signals involved in migration. We studied the frequency of CD11c+MHC-II+CD103+CD86+ and RALDH+ DCs by flow cytometry, we determined CCL-21 and D6 levels in tissue homogenates by Western blot, and we co-cultured cells isolated from afferent lymphatics with sorted CD4+ lymphocytes to assess Foxp-3 induction and homing receptor expression. Sixteen hours after vitamin A administration, DCs isolated from afferent lymphatics were able to induce homing receptors and Foxp3 expression in CD4+ lymphocytes. Our results show that a single dose of vitamin A generated a stream of signals and amplified the tolerogenic activity of DCs migrating to lymphoid tissue.  相似文献

Cholera toxin (CT) has been found to be an extremely potent immunogen for mucosal IgA responses when administered via the intestine. This study has examined both mucosal and systemic immune responses after feeding CT and compared these responses with those obtained after feeding keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH), another protein that is strongly immunogenic in mice. Feeding CT to mice resulted not only in IgA antibody in intestinal secretions but also resulted in substantial plasma IgG and IgA antibody levels. Feeding KLH in much larger quantity resulted in little or no antibody response in intestinal secretions or plasma. Lymphoid cells from various tissues of mice fed CT were cultured in vitro for 10 days and the supernatant was tested for antibody to CT. Spontaneous antibody synthesis (no antigen added to cultures) was present in cultures of each cell type, but IgG anti-CT was found mainly in cultures of spleen and mesenteric lymph node cells and IgA anti-CT mainly in cultures of Peyer's patch and lamina propria cells. Peyer's patch cells cultured with CT as antigen synthesized both IgG and IgA anti-CT, suggesting that the antibody response to both isotypes originated in this site. Helper T cell activity for both IgA and IgG anti-CT was detected in spleens, mesenteric lymph nodes, and Peyer's patches. Lastly, when KLH and CT were fed to mice at the same time, an intestinal IgA anti-KLH and plasma IgG anti-KLH response was stimulated, a response pattern similar to that occurring to CT after CT was fed alone. We conclude that mucosal stimulation by CT generates both a systemic IgG and mucosal IgA response to this antigen, and that CT can cause a similar pattern of response to an unrelated protein antigen when both are administered into the intestine at the same time. The data favor the idea that both the IgG and IgA responses originate in GALT and then disseminate to other tissues. We propose that CT accomplishes these effects by altering the regulatory environment within GALT.  相似文献

Previous studies have shown that rat intestinal immunoglobulin A (IgA) concentration and lymphocyte composition of the intestinal immune system were influenced by a highly enriched cocoa diet. The aim of this study was to dissect the mechanisms by which a long-term high cocoa intake was capable of modifying gut secretory IgA in Wistar rats. After 7 weeks of nutritional intervention, Peyer's patches, mesenteric lymph nodes and the small intestine were excised for gene expression assessment of IgA, transforming growth factor β, C-C chemokine receptor-9 (CCR9), interleukin (IL)-6, CD40, retinoic acid receptors (RARα and RARβ), C-C chemokine ligand (CCL)-25 and CCL28 chemokines, polymeric immunoglobulin receptor and toll-like receptors (TLR) expression by real-time polymerase chain reaction. As in previous studies, secretory IgA concentration decreased in intestinal wash and fecal samples after cocoa intake. Results from the gene expression showed that cocoa intake reduced IgA and IL?6 in Peyer's patches and mesenteric lymph nodes, whereas in small intestine, cocoa decreased IgA, CCR9, CCL28, RARα and RARβ. Moreover, cocoa-fed animals presented an altered TLR expression pattern in the three compartments studied. In conclusion, a high-cocoa diet down-regulated cytokines such as IL-6, which is required for the activation of B cells to become IgA-secreting cells, chemokines and chemokine receptors, such as CCL28 and CCR9 together with RARα and RARβ, which are involved in the gut homing of IgA-secreting cells. Moreover, cocoa modified the cross-talk between microbiota and intestinal cells as was detected by an altered TLR pattern. These overall effects in the intestine may explain the intestinal IgA down-regulatory effect after the consumption of a long-term cocoa-enriched diet.  相似文献

Afferent lymphatics draining granulomas and efferent lymphatics from normal and stimulated lymph nodes were cannulated in sheep. There was a greatly increased output of cells in afferent lymph-draining chronic inflammatory sites or Freund's adjuvant-induced granulomas. Cells collected from these lymphatics were radiolabeled with 111In and injected intravenously. The reappearance of these labeled cells in lymph at various sites was measured. Labeled afferent lymph cells migrated from blood through the granuloma back into afferent lymph in large numbers and with kinetics which were comparable to efferent lymphocytes recirculating through a lymph node. When labeled afferent lymph cells were injected the specific activity (cpm/107 cells) in afferent lymph was five times higher than that in efferent lymph from a normal node. When efferent lymph cells were labeled the afferent lymph specific activity was one-half that in efferent lymph. It is suggested that the cells in afferent lymph migrate preferentially from blood through the granuloma and constitute a unique population of cells.  相似文献

Fundamental hematological and immunological data were obtained on sexually mature germfree miniature pigs fed, after the milk diet period, with cereal-type diet sterilized by γ-radiation, and were compared with data of control conventional animals. Germfree adult pigs had a lower count of peripheral blood leukocytes with a lower percentage of neutrophil granulocytes and without any younger forms, a lower total serum protein level with a negligible amount of γ and α2 globulin fractions and a higher serum albumin and β globulin level. In the mesenteric lymph nodes and in spleen, surface IgA-bearing cells predominated over surface IgG-bearing cells. Also a large amount of IgA-containing cells was found in the intestinal lamina propria, where the IgG cells were present in a negligible amount. IgM cells were the most frequent surface isotype in peripheral blood. The count of blood T lymphocytes was more than doubled.  相似文献

The origin of cholesterol in the mesenteric lymph of the rat   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
These studies were performed to quantitate the amounts of newly synthesized cholesterol secreted in the mesenteric lymph of the rat and to define the origin of this cholesterol. In control animals receiving no dietary fat, the amount of newly synthesized sterol entering the lymph increased linearly with respect to time over 24 hr. When a continuous intravenous infusion of chylomicrons was given or when the animals were prefed a diet containing 2.0% cholesterol to inhibit hepatic, but not intestinal or peripheral, cholesterol synthesis, the secretion of newly synthesized sterol in lymph was markedly suppressed, suggesting that the liver was its ultimate site of origin. When the animals were subjected to either blockade of intestinal cholesterol absorption or biliary diversion, there was a decrease in both the newly synthesized and total mass of cholesterol in lymph by approximately 60%, indicating that the majority was normally derived from the absorption of luminal (primarily biliary) sterol. In the absence of dietary cholesterol, the remainder was probably derived from plasma lipoproteins that were filtered through the intestinal capillaries into the lymph. In contrast, when lymph was collected during active fat absorption, the intestine was found to secrete sterol newly synthesized by the epithelium. Such newly synthesized cholesterol was found predominantly in the unesterified fraction and accounted for approximately 27% of the total sterol found in lymph at the end of the experiment. From these studies it was concluded that in the absence of fat absorption, sterol synthesized in the intestinal mucosa was incorporated predominantly into cell membranes and did not enter intestinal lymph to any significant degree. However, during fat absorption, a fraction of this newly synthesized sterol pool was incorporated into lipoproteins and so was delivered through the intestinal lymph to the body pools of cholesterol.  相似文献
