New collections and revision of previously collected Moscovian crinoids from the Qijiagou Formation of the Taoshigo Valley near Turpan, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, Western China, add to the generic diversity of the fauna. This camerate-rich echinoderm fauna is now recognized as containing at least one blastoid, five camerate, and ten cladid crinoid genera. The fauna shows greatest affinity at the family level with Moscovian crinoid faunas of Japan and North America.New taxa proposed are: Rhepocatillocrinus tianshanensis n. gen. n. sp.; Binariacrinus alveus n. gen. n. sp.; Bassocrinus abyssus n. gen. n. sp.; and Brabeocrinus asiaensis n. sp.  相似文献

Macrozoobenthos in Thingvallavatn is dominated by 42 taxa. The vertical distribution delimits 5 communities: (1) the surf zone community from 0–2 m, (2) the upper stony littoral community from 2–6 m, (3) the lower stony littoral community from 6–10 m, (4) the Nitella zone community from 10–20 m, and (5) the profundal zone community from 20–114 m. Total mean lakewide production was 78 kJ m–2 yr–1. Herbivores, detritivores, and carnivores contributed 59%, 38% and 3%, respectively. Respiration and ingestion were estimated according to the literature. Net production efficiency averaged 0.50. Ingestion was dominated by herbivores in the littoral zones (46–81%), while detritivores made up 93% in the profundal zone. Total zoobenthic production averaged 6% of estimated available food with a range from 10–11% in the three upper littoral zones to only 2% in the Nitella zone. The profundal fauna converted 6% of the estimated sedimentation of organic matter to secondary production. On a lakewide basis the zoobenthis utilized one third of the estimated potential food resources. Zoobenthic production made up 32% of total secondary production.  相似文献

The ciliate taxa from epilimnion, hypolimnion, and littoral of Lake Kinneret were studied from November to December 1987 during stratification. Two collections of planktonic and benthic ciliates were taken at each of six sampling stations. Benthic ciliates from the littoral zone were collected at seven stations along the lake shore. Densities were determined for each ciliate species and for total protozoans at each station and sampling date. Thirty-six species of ciliates, representing 31 Genera, 18 Orders and 7 Classes, were identified. Planktonic protozoans characteristic of the epilimnion included Coleps hirtus and Vorticella mayeri. The more abundant taxa of benthic ciliates in the profundal of the lake included Saprodinium dentatum, Plagiopyla nasuta and Dexiotricha plagia. The predominant ciliate in the littoral was Pleuronema coronatum. Principal component analysis, performed on the correlation matrix of both sampling stations and species, revealed that epilimnion, hypolimnion, and littoral belt were colonized by different ciliate communities.  相似文献

A modification of the Hynes' method was used to estimate production of Potamothrix alatus paravanicus Poddubnaya & Pataridze (Tubificidae), the dominant species of benthic invertebrate in Lake Sevan. Maximum production (5–24 g mt\-2 wet weight) occurred in the sublittoral, while maximum biomass was found (8–17 g m–2 wet weight) in the profundal. The turnover ratio of the average cohort varied between 2.4 and 5.0. The annual turnover ratio (P/B) decreased from 2.1–3.1 in the littoral to 0.1–0.4 in the profundal zone.A logarithmic correlation was found between P/B and temperature and oxygen regime, and depth and average size of clitellate specimens.  相似文献

A new genus and five new species belonging to the family Tetrablemmidae are described from caves in Southwest China, i.e., Sinammaoxycera gen. & sp. n., Singaporemma banxiaoensis sp. n., Singaporemma wulongensis sp. n., Tetrablemma ziyaoensis sp. n. andTetrablemma menglaensis sp. n. The following new combination is proposed: Sinamma sanya (Lin & Li, 2010), comb. n. ex. Shearella Lehtinen, 1981. The relationships of the Sinamma gen. n. with other genera are discussed. Five new gall midge taxa of the subfamilies Porricondylinae and Lasiopterinae are described from the Late Eocene Rovno amber: Adsumyia integra gen. et sp. nov. (Dicerurini), Gratomyia inexigentis gen. et sp. nov. (Holoneurini), Winnertzia recusata sp. nov. (Winnertziini), Kovaleviola injusta gen. et sp. nov., and Spungisiola insuperabilis gen. et sp. nov. A benthological survey in a deep caldera, Lake Ikeda, southern Kyushu, Japan, in 1998 revealed that no zoobenthos were found in the deep profundal, although two tubificid oligochaetes, Tubifex tubifex and Limnodrilus hoffmeisteri, and a chironomid, Procladius sp., were distributed in the upper profundal zone. This is the first record of oligochaete composition in the lake. Lake Ikeda had been typically oligotrophic until the 1940s, and zoobenthic assemblages were recorded throughout the profundal bottom in the 1920s and 1970s. Recent disappearance of the deep profundal zoobenthos could be caused by the stagnation of anoxic waters in the hypolimnion, in connection with eutrophication triggered by nutrient loading, as well as change in the thermal circulation system presumably caused by global warming.  相似文献

The species composition and the spatial distribution of the nematode fauna of Piburger See is discussed briefly. The study then concentrates on the three species (Tobrilus gracilis, Monhystera stagnalis, Ethmolaimus pratensis) which form the lake's profundal nematode fauna between depths of roughly 8 and 13 meters. This profundal fauna is separated by a distinct metalimnetic abundance minimum from the very diverse littoral community. In addition to taxonomic and ecological considerations, the zonation of the three species within their main habitat is described, and life cycles cohort production as well as annual production are evaluated from the field data. Total annual nematode production within the profundal habitat (8–13 m) in Piburger See amounts to 11.6 kg per hectare. 65 % of which are contributed by T. gracilis, 22 % by M. stagnalis and 13 % by E. pratensis. For the whole area under observation (6 to 13.5 m, including the scarcely populated border zones) mean annual nematode production is 7 kg per hectare.  相似文献

Lake Temiskaming, a rift valley lake on the Ontario-Quebec border, exhibits a permanent gradient of turbidity due to tributary streams which cut through clay deposits to the north of the lake. Concentrations of total phosphorus (TP) also decreased from north to south, with values suggesting mesotrophic conditions. Concentrations of chlorophyll a were characteristic of oligotrophic lakes and showed little relationship to either turbidity or TP. Large numbers of Tubificidae were found at our northernmost sampling station at a depth of 50 m, probably reflecting the localized impact of allochthonous organic matter introduced by a tributary stream. Numerical abundance of the benthic fauna was much lower and did not vary significantly among the six more southerly 50 m stations, but biomass declined from north to south as Heterotrissocladius oliveri relaced Pontoporeia hoyi. Numerical abundance did not differ significantly among stations at depths of 10 m, but biomass decreased from north to south reflecting the distributions of the largest species, Hexagenia sp. and P. hoyi. Intensive sampling on two transects showed that maximum numbers of invertebrates occurred in the profundal zone. While these results are consistent with the correlation between TP and zoobenthic biomass reported by other investigators, size selective predation by fish may also be important in controlling the distribution of benthic invertebrates in Lake Temiskaming.  相似文献

SUMMARY. The development of marginal (shore-line), sub-littoral (3–6 m) and profundal (15–18 m) fauna was followed using timed collections in shallow water and artificial substrata in deeper regions. The reservoir started filling in July 1970 and was close to top water level in the autumn of that year. Samples in the marginal zone contained drowned terrestrial organisms and some Cladocera (Chydoridae) in February 1971 but by October, Chironomidae and Oligochaeta became abundant and micro-crustaceans (copepods and cladocerans) formed about 98% of the total catch. Peak densities of micro-crustaceans in the marginal zone were reached in the summer of 1971, but chironomids and oligochaetes were most abundant in the second year after filling. The numbers of marginal zone animals were greatest at the most sheltered site, and lowest at a site on the windward shore. At a stream mouth the rheophilic fauna present in April 1971 was replaced with limnophilic organisms (Chironomidae and Tubificidae) by September 1971. In the sub-littoral, Hydra, Enchytraeidae, Orthocladiinae Tanytarsini and oribatoid mites were the most abundant taxa, whereas Naididae, Hirudinea, Ostracoda, Gammarus pulex, Chironomini and Pisidium spp. were numerous in the profundal zone. Total faunal numbers and biomass were greatest in the profundal zone in all years. The highest annual mean estimate of biomass in the sub-littoral was 3.07 g (wet wt)m?2 in the second year after filling, thereafter both numbers and biomass fell. In the profundal the maximum biomass (about 29 gm?2) was observed in the third and fourth years after filling. An estimate of total standing crop of benthic organisms below the drawdown limit, made in July 1974, gave a figure of about 43 tonnes, wet weight. Biomass estimates at Cow Green were compared with those in eighteen other reservoirs and were found to be high especially in relation to those from other upland areas.  相似文献

The first triconodontids from Asia have been discovered from the Lower Cretaceous (Aptian to Albian) Shahai and Fuxin formations in Liaoning Province, northeastern China: Meiconodon lii gen. and sp. nov. and M. setoguchii gen. and sp. nov. M. lii is characterized by molariform teeth with a developed cusp d, an m3 with taller cusp a, an m4 with three primary cusps of subequal height, the posteriorly decreasing transverse width of the m4, and a considerably reduced m5. M. setoguchii is slightly larger than M. lii, and characterized by a sharp labial cingulum on the m4, and a less developed cusp d on the molariform teeth than M. lii. The extensive interlocking system between molariforms, posteriorly recumbent primary molariform cusps, and their great degree of asymmetry in occlusal view with rounded labial faces and more angulate lingual faces in lateral view, indicate that Meiconodon belongs to the triconodontid subfamily Alticonodontinae. These new taxa are the first record of Triconodontidae from Asia, and of Alticonodontinae outside North America, suggesting the occurrence of mammalian faunal exchange between North America and Asia during or before the Aptian-Albian.  相似文献

New taxa of detached seeds are described from the Kungurian (Lower Permian) of the Middle Cis-Urals: Laevigatospermum compressum gen. et sp. nov., Hirsutospermum paniculatum gen. et sp. nov., Rugosospermum callosum gen. et sp. nov., and Craspedosperma filiferum sp. nov. Effects of environmental variables on the distribution of benthic macroinvertebrates inhabiting sediments were studied at 25 sites along the shoreline of Lake Takkobu in the Kushiro wetland of northern Japan in summer 2003. During the last decade, the lake’s status has undergone a drastic shift from clear water dominated by submerged macrophytes to turbid water dominated by phytoplankton. The canonical correspondence analysis showed that four environmental variables explained the significant variation in the macroinvertebrate species composition: submerged plant biomass, bottom sediment organic matter content (OMC), distance from the mouth of the Takkobu River, and bottom-layer pH. Five species of Chironomidae [Chironomus sp. (except plumosus group), Psectrocladius sp., Corynoneura sp., Parachironomus sp. arcuatus group, and Zavreliella sp.] occurred in sites with relatively lower pH and a high submerged plant biomass, whereas three species of Tubificidae (Tubifex tubifex, Aulodrilus limnobius and Aulodrilus sp.) and two of Chironomidae (Nanocladius sp. and Monodiamesa sp.) occurred in sites with high pH and little vegetation. The three Tubificidae species also preferred organic-rich sediments. Irrespective of aquatic vegetation, Sphaerium sp. (Bivalvia) and Monodiamesa sp. (Chironomidae) occurred in low-OMC sites, whereas Tanypus sp. (Chironomidae) preferred high-OMC sites. The number of macroinvertebrate taxa showed the highest correlation with the number of submerged plants, suggesting that macroinvertebrate species richness was related mostly to submerged plant species diversity in this lake. The quantity and species richness of submerged plants and OMC are thus important determinants of the community structure of macroinvertebrates inhabiting sediments in Lake Takkobu.  相似文献

1. Fish community structure and habitat distribution of the abundant species roach, perch and ruffe were studied in Lake Nordborg (Denmark) before (August 2006) and after (August 2007) aluminium treatment to reduce internal phosphorus loading. 2. Rapid changes in fish community structure, abundance and habitat distribution occurred following a decline in in‐lake phosphorus concentrations from 280 to 37 μg P L?1 and an increase in Secchi depth transparency from 1.1 to 1.9 m (August). The proportion of perch in overnight gill net catches increased, whilst roach decreased, and the average weight of all key species increased. 3. The habitat distribution of perch and roach changed from a high proportion in the upper pelagic and littoral zones in 2006, towards enhanced proportions in the deeper pelagic and profundal zone in 2007. The abundance of large‐bodied zooplankton increased and the abundance of benthic invertebrates decreased in the same period, suggesting that the habitat shift was not induced by food limitation. 4. Ruffe shifted from the littoral and upper profundal zones towards the deep profundal zone, likely reflecting an increased predation risk in the littoral zone and better oxygen conditions in the deep profundal. 5. Our results indicate that enhanced risk of predation in the upper pelagic and the littoral zones and perhaps improved oxygen concentrations in the deeper profundal zone at decreasing turbidity are responsible for the observed habitat shift. The results indicate that fish respond rapidly to changes in nutrient state, both in terms of community structure and habitat use.  相似文献

The abundances and activities of aerobic methane-oxidizing bacteria (MOB) were compared in depth profiles of littoral and profundal sediments of Lake Constance, Germany. Abundances were determined by quantitative PCR (qPCR) targeting the pmoA gene and by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), and data were compared to methane oxidation rates calculated from high-resolution concentration profiles. qPCR using type I MOB-specific pmoA primers indicated that type I MOB represented a major proportion in both sediments at all depths. FISH indicated that in both sediments, type I MOB outnumbered type II MOB at least fourfold. Results obtained with both techniques indicated that in the littoral sediment, the highest numbers of methanotrophs were found at a depth of 2 to 3 cm, corresponding to the zone of highest methane oxidation activity, although no oxygen could be detected in this zone. In the profundal sediment, highest methane oxidation activities were found at a depth of 1 to 2 cm, while MOB abundance decreased gradually with sediment depth. In both sediments, MOB were also present at high numbers in deeper sediment layers where no methane oxidation activity could be observed.  相似文献

1. Subfossil chironomid head capsules were sampled from surficial sediments from 86 boreal shield lakes in south‐central Ontario, Canada. Lake characteristics ranged from shallow to very deep (> 80 m), ultraoligotrophic to mesotrophic, and with end‐of‐summer hypolimnetic oxygen conditions ranging from near‐saturation to anoxic. 2. Subfossil chironomid assemblages, comprising 44 taxa from 59 lakes, were analysed using multivariate ordination techniques such as redundancy analysis (RDA) and canonical correspondence analysis (CCA). Forward selection in RDA and CCA both showed that measures of oxygen, such as end‐of‐summer volume‐weighted hypolimnetic oxygen concentration (VWHO) and bottom oxygen concentration (botO2), were the strongest explanatory variables for the chironomid data. Maximum depth and major ion chemistry were also important explanatory variables. 3. Oxygen inference models were developed using partial‐least‐squares regression (PLS), weighted‐averaging partial‐least‐squares regression (WA‐PLS), and weighted averaging regression (WA). Models were developed using both the full 44 taxa assemblage (which included littoral taxa) and using only 15 profundal‐type taxa. 4. Cross‐validated models (jackknifing) using full‐assemblage or profundal‐only taxa had similar statistical power (similar root mean squared error of prediction, RMSEP). The best models had moderate predictive power, with an r2jack as high as 0.56, and an RMSEP as low as 2.15 mg L–1 for [VWHO], and an r2jack of 0.49 and an RMSEP of 0.24 for log([botO2] + 1). 5. Reconstruction of [VWHO] and [botO2] using a previously published chironomid profile that showed strong lake response to land‐clearance and logging suggests that oxygen inference models are reliable and accurate, reflecting the qualitative changes occurring in subfossil assemblages. However, the profundal‐only models may be misleading in situations where the ratio of littoral‐to‐profundal subfossils changes drastically in response to lake disturbance.  相似文献

An investigation was carried out on the macrobenthos of Montedoglio Reservoir, an artificial lake in central Italy. Seven qualitative and quantitative samplings, performed by drag netting and airlifting at 5 stations, revealed a total of 48 taxa during 1992–94. The highest density and most frequent terms were Tubificidae, Chironomidae of the genera Procladius, Tanypus, Chironomus and Polypedilium and Chaoboridae. Tubificidae were found mainly at a depth of 7–9 m, Chironomidae at 1–3 m. The modest density and low biological diversity values are probably attributable to the substrate characteristics and a drop in hypolymnic oxygen during thermic stratification. The oxygen stress at the lake bed, which was unexpected given the scarce planktonic productivity, may have been caused by recent impoundment.  相似文献

The Permian bryozoan fauna of the Surmaq Formation exposed in a section near Kuh-e Hambast (Hambast Mountains, central Iran) includes ten species. Four species (Fistulipora sawatai Sakagami 1999, Fistulipora takauchiensis Sakagami 1961, Fistulipora monticulosa Nikiforova 1933, and Eridopora parasitica, Waagen and Wentzel 1886) indicate a Middle Permian (Murgabian) age of the formation. Six additional taxa, three cystoporates Fistulipora sp. 1, Fistulipora sp. 2, and Fistuliporidae gen. et sp. indet., as well as three trepostomes Dyscritella sp., Trepostomata gen. et sp. indet. 1 and Trepostomata gen. et sp. indet. 2 could not be identified at the genus and species level. The investigated fauna refers to the Middle Permian of Thailand, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Japan.  相似文献

Records of exotic turbellarian species found in Japan are reviewed from taxonomic and karyological viewpoints. Temnocephala minor Haswell, 1888, an ectocommensal on a freshwater crayfish of Australia, was found from culture ponds of Cherax tenuimanus (introduced from W. Australia) in Kagoshima Prefecture. T. minor had the chromosome number of 2x = 18 (2sm + 2m + 2m + 2sm + 2m + 2m + 2m + 2sm + 2m). The following 3 species of exotic freshwater triclads were recorded from tanks and ponds used for tropical fish culture: Dugesia austroasiatica Kawakatsu, 1985 (2x = 16), Dugesia tigrina (Girard, 1850) (2x = 16) and Rhodax? sp. (3x = 24; 3x = 24 &; 3x + 1LB + 1SB = 25 + 1SB). The following 3 species of exotic terrestrial triclads were recorded: Bipalium nobile Kawakatsu et Makino, 1982 (2x = 10), Bipalium kewense Moseley, 1878 (2x = 18), and Platydemus manokwari de Beauchamp, 1962 (n = 6, 2x = 12). An extensive occurrence of P. manokwari in the Southwest Islands of Japan may be due to an unexpected introduction of the animal in very recent years.  相似文献
