研究以鳞片和微耳石为生长退算材料, 用4 种常用的鱼类生长退算方法(Dahl-Lea、Regression、Fraser-Lee 和BPH 方法)对新疆乌伦古湖拟鲤(Rutilus rutilus Linnaeus, 1758)的生长进行了退算, 比较分析了退算材料和方法对退算全长的影响, 以此确定适宜的生长退算材料和方法。结果显示, 无论采用哪种退算方法, 用微耳石退算拟鲤生长的结果均好于鳞片, 表现为退算全长更接近实测全长, 与实测体长之间的差异百分比更小。用鳞片退算时, Dahl-Lea 方法退算全长远小于实测全长, 整体差异百分比高达?26.0%, 与其他方法之间的差异也较大, 效果最差; Regression、Fraser-Lee 和BPH 三种方法退算全长与实测全长之间的差异相近, 差异百分比分别为?6.7%、7.0%和7.0%。用微耳石退算时, Dahl-Lea 方法退算全长最接近实测全长, 退算全长与实测全长之间的差异百分比最小, 总体仅为?1.9%, 效果最好; Fraser-Lee 和BPH方法各龄退算全长与实测全长之间的差异百分比相等, 在?1.4%— ?3.2%之间, 总体均为?2.6%, 效果次之; Regression 方法与Fraser-Lee 和BPH 方法之间虽然无显著差异, 但退算全长与实测全长之间的差异百分比最大, 总体为?4.5%,效果最差。    相似文献

Linear relationships were found between body length–scale radius, body length-cleithrum length and body length-urohyal length ( r =0·949, 0·984 and 0·974 respectively) in silver carp Hypophthalmichthys molitrix. Out of 180 comparisons, which were made between different methods of back-calculating length and ageing structures at ages 2-7 years, the differences were not significant ( P ≥ 0·05) in 132 (73·3%) cases. There were no significant differences among different methods in older age classes and between the Fraser-Lee method and body proportional method (BPH) at all ages. The results demonstrated that in all structures, back-calculated lengths estimated by the scale proportional hypotheses (SPH) were less than the other methods. For scales, SPH was similar to the direct proportional method of Dahl-Lea (DPM) but for cleithra and urohyal bones it was similar to BPH and Fraser-Lee. As the fish increased in age, the differences between back-calculated lengths decreased. When lengths were back-calculated using cleithra and urohyal bones, differences between the structures at age 2 years were 17 mm from DPM, 33 mm from SPH, 37 mm from BPH and 37 mm from Fraser-Lee, while at age 8 years mean differences were 7 mm from DPM and 8 mm from the SPH, BPH and Fraser-Lee methods. It is suggested that the differences would be less if: (1) back-calculated lengths are based on a large number of random samples; (2) measurements of scale radius, cleithrum length and urohyal length were precise; (3) determination of focus or origin were precise; (4) the sampling of scales were from the same row.  相似文献

A comparative study comprising scale morphology and squamation of Saurida tumbil was conducted to identify the most useful scale and squamation characters within the different body regions and length groups and to clarify their significance for future systematic studies. The presence of the caudal pores is documented for the first time in teleosts. In addition, the presence of crenae and spines formed by posterior orientation and projection of circuli is recorded for the first time in a member of the Synodontidae. Scales of S. tumbil show some characters that are either never seen or they are exceedingly rare in scales of other teleosts. These are: two types of scalar denticles, denticles in the inter-circular area, and twin or Siamese scales. Several other scale characters have shown a consistent variation in different body regions and in fishes from different length groups. These are: focus position; bilobate rostral field edge; presence of three radii; long, narrow and separated crenae; papillae-form, crowded scalar denticles with posterior directed spines; the number of scale rows between anterior end of the dorsal fin and the lateral line.  相似文献

Scale morphology, growth and the squarnation chronology are described for the hermaphroditic fish Rivulus marmoratus reared in the laboratory. The scales are round or oval shaped cycloid type, and their sizes are about 0.3–1.0 mm in diameter. The number of ridges increases more rapidly relative to the body growth of the fish in early stages, but this increase is proportionate to growth subsequently. Three loci of scale development have been identified. The scales first appeared on the center of the parietal region at 8 days after hatching. The second locus of scale formation was on the lateral line of the posterior end of the caudal peduncle. A third locus was later observed on the lower right corner of the operculum: The final squamation was completed at 6 weeks after hatching.  相似文献

观察了实验室养殖条件下齐口裂腹鱼稚鱼鳞片的发生和覆盖过程。结果表明,稚鱼体长为30.732.3 mm时,鳞片最先出现在鳃盖后缘侧线处;体长为45.347.9 mm时,鳞片覆盖完毕,体长和日龄对鳞片覆盖均有显著影响。在鳞片覆盖过程中出现6个鳞片发生起始位置,依次是鳃盖后缘侧线处、尾柄部侧线处、臀鳍基部、腹鳍基部、背鳍基部和峡部。此外,组织切片的观察结果表明,齐口裂腹鱼鳞片发育主要经历了形态发生早期、形态发生晚期、分化早期、分化晚期和折叠期五个阶段。这些研究结果丰富了齐口裂腹鱼早期发育的生物学资料,将有助于了解其在系统学和功能形态学上的特征。    相似文献

In aquatic environments, visual communication is expected in animals that inhabit clear, shallow waters. Here, we investigate variation in the colorful traits of bluegills, Lepomis macrochirus, to elucidate their possible function. Bluegills use alternative mating tactics whereby males develop into one of two irreversible phenotypes termed parental and cuckolder. Parentals build and defend nests and care for offspring whereas cuckolders obtain matings by sneaking copulations. We hypothesized that bluegill coloration might function as a sexual ornament in parental males and that ornamental coloration might serve as an honest indicator of male quality. We predicted that coloration should be more pronounced in parental males than in females and immature males and should be more pronounced during the breeding season. We also predicted that males in better condition should be more intensely colored than fish in poor condition. To test our predictions, we sampled 510 bluegills during the breeding and post‐breeding seasons at nine lakes in southern Ontario, Canada, in 2007. We used reflectance spectrometry to quantify the coloration of five body regions, aged and sexed each fish, and calculated Fulton’s condition factor from morphological measurements. A separate experiment showed that color did not fade several minutes post capture, suggesting that coloration could be measured reliably and consistently. We found that color was influenced by maturity, sex, and season, in the predicted direction, for three body regions (breast, cheek, and opercular flap). We also found that color varied with the condition of males such that males in better condition were darker for the sexually dichromatic ventral and facial regions. Our findings therefore suggest that some colorful traits in bluegills may serve as condition‐dependent sexual signals during the breeding season. Our research contributes to a growing appreciation of the importance of visual signaling in aquatic environments.  相似文献

The vertebral column of fishes has traditionally been divided into just two distinct regions, abdominal and caudal. Recently, however, developmental, morphological, and mechanical investigations have brought this traditional regionalization scheme into question. Alternative regionalization schema advocate the division of the abdominal vertebrae into cervical, abdominal, and in some cases, transitional regions. Here, we investigate regional variation at the level of the vertebrae and intervertebral joint (IVJ) tissues in the striped bass, Morone saxatilis. We use gross dissection, histology, and polarized light imaging to quantify vertebral height, width, length, IVJ length, IVJ tissue volume and cross‐sectional area, and vertical septum fiber populations, and angles of insertion. Our results reveal regional differences between the first four (most rostral) abdominal vertebrae and IVJs and the next six abdominal vertebrae and IVJs, supporting the recognition of a distinct cervical region. We found significant variation in vertebral length, width, and height from cranial to caudal. In addition, we see a significant decline in the volume of notochordal cells and the cross‐sectional area of the fibrous sheath from cranial to caudal. Further, polarized light imaging revealed four distinct fiber populations within the vertical septum in the cervical and abdominal regions in contrast with just one fiber population found in the caudal region. Measurement of the insertion angles of these fiber populations revealed significant differences between the cervical and abdominal regions. Differences in vertebral, IVJ, and vertical septum morphology all predict greater range of motion and decreased stiffness in the caudal region of the fish compared with the cervical and abdominal regions. Homatula laxiclathra, new species, is here described from the Wei-He of the Yellow River drainage in Shaanxi Province, northern China. It is similar to H. berezowskii, H. longidorsalis, and H. variegata in the shared possession of a shallower body with a uniform depth, a character distinguishing all of them from all other congeners, but differs from these three species in the width of vertical brown bars on the caudal peduncle. This new species, along with H. berezowskii, differs from H. longidorsalis, and H. variegata in head length, caudal-peduncle depth, length of the dorsal adipose creast of the caudal peduncle, body squamation, and intestinal coiling. Homatula laxiclathra and H. berezowskii are further distinct in the caudal-fin shape and interorbital width.  相似文献

Synopsis We examined the ontogenetic allometry of intestine length in relation to body length and body mass in 21 species of fish from forest streams in Panama. The relationships between log10 intestine length and log10 body length and mass were well described by linear regressions, although some species showed slight curvilinearity. Slopes and intercepts of the linear regressions varied considerably among species. Intestine length was positively allometric in most species, with slopes of the intestine length:body length relationship ranging from 1.09 to 2.11. Relative intestine lengths (intestine length/body length) varied by two orders of magnitude (0.39–38.44) in the data set as a whole, but the variation was about one order of magnitude when species were compared at a common body size. Species in which body mass increased more rapidly with body length had more rapid increases in intestine length with body length. Among omnivorous and carnivorous species compared at the same body length, heavier species had longer intestines. Interspecific comparisons of relative intestine length may produce misleading conclusions unless comparisons are made at a common size and account for differences in relative mass.  相似文献

放射孢子虫(Actinosporean)是黏体动物在其中间宿主水生无脊椎动物体内的一个生活阶段。研究鉴定并描述了一种雷氏放射孢子虫的形态和分子特征。该放射孢子虫的主要形态结构是: 由三个极囊、内含孢原质的孢子体和三个尾突组成, 无孢柄。极囊位于孢子体顶端, 呈梨形, 长5.2 μm, 宽2.9 μm; 孢子体侧面观呈长椭圆形, 长16.4 μm, 宽9.5 μm; 三个尾突基本等长, 呈锚状, 平均长度102.6 μm, 宽9.54 μm, 尾突末端轻微的上翘。每个尾突远侧端表面有许多形状不规则的棘状小刺。18S rDNA序列比对表明, 该雷氏放射孢子虫与国外已报道的Myxobolus cultus 18S rDNA序列一致性最高, 达98.41%, 由此推测该雷氏放射孢子虫可能为M. cultus的对应放射孢子虫阶段。研究丰富了国内放射孢子虫的基础研究。  相似文献

We demonstrate that bluegill (Lepomis macrochirus) introduced from their native North American source to Lake Biwa in Japan showed considerable trophic and morphological variations (morphs). Three morphs were found for larger bluegills, specialized in three distinct resources (i.e. plankton, benthic invertebrates and aquatic plant), and two morphs were found for smaller bluegills, specialized in two slightly different prey taxa (i.e. calanoid and cyclopoid plankton). These morphs, especially for the large size class, can be distinguished primarily by differences in midbody length and depth. The dietary specialization and morphological differentiation among individuals were considered to be a result of different requirements for efficient resource utilization, which is a unique example of trophic polymorphism occurring in an introduced fish species in a species-rich fish community.  相似文献

A new genus and species of the subfamily Bythitinae (Bythitidae),Hastatobythites arafurensis, is described on the basis of two specimens from the Arafura Sea. The genus is unique in the subfamily in having two anteriorlydirected spines, one on the frontal and one on the mesethmoid. It is also distinguishable from all other genera in the subfamily by the following combination of characters: head scales absent; squamation on body incomplete; maxillary expanded posteriorly; no thin pore-bearing skin flap over opercle; opercle thin, weak, without distinct spine; jaw teeth conical; vomerine and palatine teeth present; developed gill rakers on 1 st arch 3; pelvic fins with 1 ray in each; pectoral peduncle elongated, with 16 rays; caudal fin rays 12; branchiostegal, rays 8; precaudal vertebrae 15, with tips of 6th to 12th neural spines truncated.  相似文献

The ontogeny of the developmental stages of the hake Merluccius hubbsi is described. Fish larvae and post-transitional juveniles were collected in the Nor-Patagonian area from 1989 to 2004. The opening of the mouth and the pigmentation of the eyes are coincident with yolk resorption, finishing the yolk-sac stage. This species presents pigmentation on the head, trunk and tail typical of gadiform larvae. Pectoral fin development is completed during the transformation stage. The post-transitional juvenile stage begins when the fin-ray complements are complete and squamation begins. The fins become fully formed in the following sequence: pelvic fins, first dorsal fin, second dorsal and anal fins together, caudal fin and pectoral fins. The caudal complex is totally developed in larvae of 22·0–23·0 mm standard lengths ( L S) and all vertebral elements are first observed in larvae of 8·5 mm L S. The rate of development of M. hubbsi observed in this study could be faster than the rates reported for other species of Merluccius by different authors.  相似文献

Fish squamation is developed in late ontogeny. Therefore, the conditions of development significantly affect its characteristics (number of scales). This study is aimed at considering the influence of external and internal factors on variation of the number of scales in fish. Acceleration of development results in decrease of the number of scales, while it increases with retardation. Experiments on regulation of thyroid status of fish showed that the certain mechanism of alteration of the number of scales is related with heterochrony, such as a shift of the timing of squamation. Accelerated development is caused by early scale development at smaller body length, while retarded development is characterized with later scale development and at greater body length. Data considering heterochrony as the possible reason for differences in the number of scales in related fish species are represented. Moreover, alterations of the distance between scales (morphogenetic count) can serve as another alteration mechanism of the number of scales in fish (especially phyletically distant species).  相似文献

Fertilized eggs ofPleuronichthys cornutus were obtained by both artificial fertilization and natural spawning of laboratory-reared fish. The present paper describes in detail the early development of the fish and the rearing methods employed to provide basic information for mass production of this species. Eggs and sperm for artificial fertilization were obtained from adult fish caught in the Ariake Sound, Kyushu in November and December of 1984. Their maturation was successfully induced by intermuscular injection of pituitary homogenate of the silver carp,Hypophthalmichthys molitrix. Fertilized eggs were also obtained in 1985 by natural spawning of a broodstock kept in a tank for a year. Hatched larvae were fed successively with rotifers,Artemia nauplii and the harpacticoid copepod,Tigriopus japonicus and reared for 80 days. Ten thousand young fish of about 33 mm TL were obtained in 1984 and 1985 with the survival rate of about 17%. Ten developmental stages were defined on the basis of the morphological characteristics: A) newly hatched to 4 day old larvae, 2.7 to 4.1 mm TL (2.6 to 3.9 mmNL), yolk sac present; B) 4 to 16 day old larvae, 3.8 to 5.9 mm (3.6 to 5.6 mm), yolk resorbed, actively feeding on rotifers; C) 15 to 30 day old larvae, 6.3 to 8.3 mm (6.0 to 7.9 mm), notochord straight, hypural fin ray visible; D) 24 to 40 day old larvae, 6.7 to 9.2 mm (6.4 to 8.8 mm), caudal notochord upturned (45°); E) 28 to 45 day old larvae, 7.9 to 10.8 mm (7.5 to 10.3 mm), caudal notochord upturned (45°–90°); F) 32 to 50 day old larvae, 10.8 to 15.7 mm (8.8 to 12.8 mm BL), eyes symmetrical; G) 35 to 66 day old larvae, 13.4 to 20.0 mm (10.9 to 16.3 mm), eyes asymmetrical, but left eye not visible from the right side; H) 40 to 75 day old larvae, 13.8 to 26.2 mm (11.3 to 21.4 mm), the upper edge of left eye visible over top of the head from the right side; I) 46 to 89 day old larvae, 20.1 to 27.4 mm (16.4 to 22.4mm), left eye on the edge of the head and pupil visible from the right side; and J) juveniles of 51 day old or over, 23.6 mm or more (19.3 mm or more), metamorphosis completed. One to three inflections were found for relative growth of total length, eye diameter, upper jaw length, preanal length, and distance between the base of the pectoral fin and the anus against the notochord length or body length. Two inflections were found for body length (or notochord length)-body weight relationship. Most inflections appeared at the stages of D, F and J, corresponding to the body length of 8, 9–12 and 18–22 mm respectively.  相似文献

Morphological development, including that of fins, labyrinth organ, body proportions, and pigmentation, in laboratory-hatched larval and juvenile snakeskin gourami Trichogaster pectoralis is described. Body lengths (BL; mean ± SD) of larvae and juveniles were 2.3 ± 0.1 mm just after hatching (day 0) and 8.2 ± 0.6 mm on day 22, reaching 14.1 ± 2.3 mm on day 48. Aggregate fin ray numbers attained their full complements in juveniles >11.8 mm BL. Preflexion larvae started feeding on day 2 following upper and lower jaw formation, the yolk being completely absorbed by day 12. Subsequently, oblong conical teeth appeared in postflexion larvae >8.2 mm BL (day 16). Melanophores on the body increased with growth, with a large dark spot developing on the lateral midline at the caudal margin of the body in flexion larvae >6.1 mm BL. Subsequently, a broad vertical dark band from the eye to the caudal peduncle developed in postflexion larvae >8.9 mm BL. Proportions of head and pre-anal lengths became constant in postflexion larvae greater than ca. 9–10 mm BL, whereas those of maximum body depth, eye diameter, and snout length failed to stabilize in fish of the size examined in this study. First soft fin ray of the pelvic fin elongated, reaching over 40% BL. The labyrinth organ differentiated in postflexion larvae >7.4 mm BL (day 22). Comparisons of larval and juvenile morphology with another anabantoid species Anabas testudineus were also made, revealing several distinct differences, particularly in the numbers of myomeres and fin rays in the dorsal/anal fins, mouth location and body shape.  相似文献

Two related perciform fish species of the subfamily Monotaxinae (Sparoidea: Lethrinidae) Gymnocranius superciliosus sp. nov. and Gymnocranius satoi sp. nov. are described from specimens and tissue samples from the Coral Sea and adjacent regions. G. superciliosus sp. nov. is distinct from all other known Gymnocranius spp. by the following combination of characters: body elongated (depth 2.7–3.1 in standard length), caudal fin moderately forked with a subtle middle notch, its lobes slightly convex inside, distinctive blackish eyebrow, snout and cheek with blue speckles, and dorsal, pectoral, anal and caudal fins reddish. G. satoi sp. nov. is the red-finned ‘Gymnocranius sp.’ depicted in previous taxonomic revisions. While colour patterns are similar between the two species, G. satoi sp. nov. is distinct from G. superciliosus sp. nov. by the ratio of standard length to body depth (2.4–2.5 vs. 2.7–3.1) and by the shape of the caudal fin, which is more shallowly forked, its lobes convex inside and their extremities rounded. The two species are genetically distinct from each other and they are genetically distinct from G. elongatus, G. euanus, G. grandoculis, and G. oblongus sampled from the Coral Sea and adjacent regions.  相似文献

Three pelagic larvae [5.1–5.9 mm in head length (80+ to 101+ mm in total length)] of a macrourid fish, Ventrifossa garmani, from Suruga Bay and offshore waters of central Japan are described. The specimens were characterized by a remarkably elongate caudal region (caudal region length >15.6 times head length), the longest known to date among macrourid larvae and juveniles. Other characteristics included a short snout, first dorsal and pelvic fin rays not elongated, external melanophores on most of the body and posteriorly on the anal fin membrane, and six or seven rectangular clusters of internal melanophores laterally on the anterior caudal region.  相似文献

A new nematode from the stomach of the estuarine fish Sillaginopsis panijus of West Bengal, India is described. The nematodes are characterised by small body size, the structure of the male tail (the presence of two large dorso-lateral caudal lobes bearing a distinct papilla on each and a pair of large subventral adanal papillae), the structure of the spicule (wider in proximal and distal regions and with smooth surface), the non-spinous spicular sheath, the structure of the stichosome (stichocytes number 25–32 and regularly aligned throughout the length of the oesophagus), the large bell-shaped vulvar appendage, and elongate-oval eggs with a thin wall and protruding polar plugs. A diagnosis of the new genus and a key to the genera of fish capillariids are provided.  相似文献
