通过对鳙为期16个月的定期取样研究发现,1993年8月到1994年3月,台湾棘带吸虫的囊蚴主要分布在鳃耙上,1994年4月至11月,囊蚴则主要分布在鳃丝上;当鳙体长范围为30-90mm时,囊蚴主要分布在鳃耙上,当体长大于90mm时,囊蚴主要分布在鳃丝上,随着鳙的生长,鳃丝囊蚴所占的比例逐渐增大,从0增加到100%,而鳃耙囊蚴所占的比例逐渐减小,从100%下降到0;不同月份、不同体长组鳙其不同组鳃丝囊蚴分布规律相同,第2组鳃丝囊蚴分布较多,第3、第1、第4组鳃丝囊蚴分布依次减少:其不同组鳃耙囊蚴分布规律也相同,总是第1组鳃耙囊蚴分布较多,其余依次为第2、第3、第4组鳃耙;囊蚴在鳙鳃丝和鳃耙上的分布都呈聚集分布,且聚集的强度随囊蚴内种群密度的增高而增高。  相似文献

从1993年8月到1994年11月,对感染台湾棘带吸虫囊蚴的鳙鳃丝、鳃耙进行了为期16个月的调查研究表明;鳃丝、鳃耙的感染率范围为0-100%(83.33±25.47%)、(61.13±44.45%),感染强度范围分别为0-109.15(54.89±34.09)、0-125.57(41.18±49.34),囊蚴的平均密度范围分别为0-97.76(46.94±26.25),0-125.57(40.61±49.71);当鳙体长小于90mm时,鳃丝、鳃耙的感染率、感染强度、囊蚴的平均密度随着其体长的增大而增长;当体长大于90mm时,三项指标随着其体长的增大具有减小的趋势,其中鳃耙的变化规律明显;当体长大于141.7mm时,鳃耙的感染率、感染强度、囊蚴的平均密度都为0;随着鳙的生长,鳃丝囊蚴所占的比例逐渐增大,从0增加到100%,而鳃耙囊蚴所占的比例逐渐减小,从100%下降到0.    相似文献

Developmental instability (DI) is the sensitivity of a developing trait to random noise and can be measured by degrees of directionally random asymmetry [fluctuating asymmetry (FA)]. FA has been shown to increase with loss of genetic variation and inbreeding as measures of genetic stress, but associations vary among studies. Directional selection and evolutionary change of traits have been hypothesized to increase the average levels of FA of these traits and to increase the association strength between FA and population‐level genetic variation. We test these two hypotheses in three‐spined stickleback (Gasterosteus aculeatus L.) populations that recently colonized the freshwater habitat. Some traits, like lateral bone plates, length of the pelvic spine, frontal gill rakers and eye size, evolved in response to selection regimes during colonization. Other traits, like distal gill rakers and number of pelvic fin rays, did not show such phenotypic shifts. Contrary to a priori predictions, average FA did not systematically increase in traits that were under presumed directional selection, and the increases observed in a few traits were likely to be attributable to other factors. However, traits under directional selection did show a weak but significantly stronger negative association between FA and selectively neutral genetic variation at the population level compared with the traits that did not show an evolutionary change during colonization. These results support our second prediction, providing evidence that selection history can shape associations between DI and population‐level genetic variation at neutral markers, which potentially reflect genetic stress. We argue that this might explain at least some of the observed heterogeneities in the patterns of asymmetry.  相似文献

The surface ultrastructure of the gill arches of the killifish, Fundulus heteroclitus, adapted to seawater or freshwater, was found to be similar to that reported for other euryhaline teleosts. Two rows of gill filaments (about 42 filaments per row) extended posterolaterally, and two rows of gill rakers (about 10 rakers per row) extended anteromedially from each arch. Leaf-like respiratory lamellae protruded along both sides of each filament, from its base to its apex. The distributions, sizes, and numbers of various surface cells and structures were also determined. All surfaces were covered by a mosaic of pavement cells, which measured about 7 X 4 microns and exhibited concentrically arranged surface ridges. Taste buds were especially prominent on the rakers and the pharyngeal surfaces of the first and second gill arches, but were often replaced by horny spines on the third and fourth gill arches. Apical crypts of chloride cells occurred mostly on the surfaces of the gill filaments adjacent to the afferent artery of the filament. In seawater adapted killifish, crypts resembled narrow, deep holes along the borders of adjacent pavement cells, had openings of about 2 microns2, and occurred at a frequency of about 1 per 70 microns2 of surface area. In freshwater fish, the crypts usually had larger openings (about 10 microns2), occurred less frequently (1 per 123 microns2), and exhibited many cellular projections in their interiors. Changes in crypt morphology may be related to the ion transport function of chloride cells.  相似文献

Glycoproteins (GPs) were visualised histochemically in the secretory cells – the mucous goblet cells (the type A and the type B), the serous goblet cells, the club cells and the epithelial cells in the gill epithelium of Rita rita. The type A mucous goblet cells, the type B mucous goblet cells and the epithelial cells elaborate GPs with oxidizable vicinal diols and GPs with sialic acid residue without O-acyl substitution. In addition, GPs with O-sulphate esters are elaborated by the type A and GPs with O-acyl sugars by the type B mucous goblet cells. GPs are absent in the serous goblet cells and are with oxidizable vicinal diols in low moieties in the club cells. The analysis of the results elucidates interesting differences in the composition and concentration of GPs in the mucus elaborated by the epithelium of the gill arches and the gill rakers; and the gill filaments and the secondary lamellae indicating the potential importance of the glycoproteins at these locations. GPs elaborated on the surfaces of the gill arches and the gill rakers could be associated to assist in feeding activities and on the surfaces of the gill filaments and the secondary lamellae in the respiratory activity.  相似文献

The development of gill rakers in the herring, Clupea harengus L. was followed from the larva to the adult. The first rakers appear on the gill arches at a total length ( t.l .) of about 16 mm. Their number then increases rapidly until the fish are about 50 mm t.l . when the rate of addition becomes much slower. The length of individual rakers and the space between them continues to increase throughout life. The rakers on the first gill arch account for almost 60% of the whole filtering area. The observed particle retention capabilities of the fish when filter-feeding were lower than those expected on the basis of the estimated spaces between the rakers. Several reasons are suggested for the discrepancy.  相似文献

Perturbations during development leave enduring signs on the adult body. Fluctuating asymmetry (FA) is a good bio-indicator of stress during ontogeny. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of urban poverty on the fluctuating asymmetry of young Turkish males. Young males from a lower socioeconomic group (N = 140, Mean age = 18.17 +/- 0.61) were selected from slum areas of Ankara, the capital of Turkey, where urban poverty is intense. An upper socioeconomic group, on the other hand, consisted of students from two private colleges and included children from some of the richest families in Turkey (N = 120, Mean age = 18.08 +/- 0.54). Eight anthropometric traits of all subjects were measured. Considering the seven measurements demonstrate ideal FA, the individuals living in poor areas of the city displayed higher FA. The discrepancy between the two groups was even greater for a measure of composite FA. In conclusion, poor living conditions in Ankara, where urban poverty is intense, adversely impact the developmental stability of young Turkish males.  相似文献

SEM studies were made on the gills of freshwater mullets,Rhinomugil corsula andSicamugil cascasia, to correlate surface ultrastructure of various gill units with their probable functions. Two types of lamellated gill rakers of the former fish are suited for plankton feeding and the short, stumpy and transversely beaded gill rakers of the latter reflect the varied food and feeding habit of the fish.R. corsula has numerous mucous glands on the epithelium covering the gill arch and gill filaments,S. cascasia has fewer. In accordance with the differences in the density and distribution of the mucous glands, the microridged epithelial cells also show variations in their architectural plan. In both species the epithelium of the secondary lamellae is smooth, probably an adaptation for better gaseous exchange.  相似文献

本文采用随机整体抽样的方法分析了先天性心脏病患者129例(男性59例, 女性70例) 和正常对照人群133例(男性69例, 女性64例) 13项皮纹波动不对称性(Fluctuating asymmetry, FA)的分布特征。结果表明: (1)先天性心脏病患者组与正常对照组在13项皮纹波动不对称性指标中均未出现显著性别差异; (2)先天性心脏病患者组与正常对照组在FAⅥ(P<0.05)和FAⅦ(P<0.01)两项有显著性差异, 表现为患者组明显增高, 提示先天性心脏病患者在胚胎发育早期易受到环境因素影响, 具有较高的发育不稳定性。  相似文献

Filter feeding fishes possess several morphological adaptations necessary to capture and concentrate small particulate matter from the water column. Filter feeding teleosts typically employ elongated and tightly packed gill rakers with secondary bony or epithelial modifications that increase filtering efficiency. The gill rakers of Hypophthalmichthys molitrix, silver carp, are anatomically distinct from and more complex than the filtering apparatus of other teleostean fishes. The silver carp filtering apparatus is composed of biserial, fused filtering plates used to capture particles ranging in size from 4 to 80 μm. Early in ontogeny, at 15–25 mm standard length (SL), silver carp gill rakers are reminiscent of other more stereotypical teleostean rakers, characterized by individual lanceolate rakers that are tightly packed along the entirety of the branchial arches. At 30 mm SL, secondary epithelial projections and concomitant dermal ossification begin to stitch together individual gill rakers. During later juvenile stages, dermal bone further modifies the individual gill rakers and creates a bony scaffold that supports the now fully fused and porous epithelium. By adulthood, the stitching of bone and complete fusion of the overlying epithelium creates rigid filtering plates with morphologically distinct faces. The inner face of the plates is organized into a net‐like matrix while the outer face has a sponge‐like appearance comprised of differently sized pores. Here, we present morphological data from an ontogenetic series of the filtering apparatus within silver carp. These data inform hypotheses regarding both how these gill raker plates may have evolved from a more basal condition, as well as how this novel architecture allows this species to feed on exceedingly small phytoplankton, particles that represent a greater filtering challenge to the typical anatomy of the gill rakers of fishes.  相似文献

Mugil curema, M. liza, and M. platanus were collected from the southeastern and southern coast of Brazil. The second gill arches were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and histology. The highest density of chloride and mucus-secreting cells was observed in the gill filaments of M. liza and M. platanus. Spines are scarce and were found only in the pharyngeal region of M. curema. The dorsal angle of curvature of the simple projections is most reduced in the rakers of M. liza and M. platanus. The raker borderline on the internal side of the arches of M. curema has grooves that do not occur in the other two species. On the external side of the branchial arches, the borders of the rakers of M. liza and M. platanus are smooth. The shape of the rakers is characteristic for each species: in M. curema, it resembles the letter "D"; in M. liza, it is trapezoidal, and in M. platanus, it is triangular. Thus there is a morphologic similarity between M. liza and M. platanus, and both differ from M. curema. All three species show elongated and extremely elaborated rakers that are placed next to each other and turned toward the opercular cavity. There are few taste buds and only several mucus-secreting cells along the whole pharyngeal region. These characteristics suggest that these species do not select food chemically but obtain it mechanically with the rakers and aggregate it with mucus.  相似文献

The general morphology and surface ultrastructure of the gills of adult and larvae medaka (Oryzias latipes) were studied in freshwater and seawater using scanning electron microscopy. The gills of all examined fish were structurally similar to those of other teleosts and consisted of four pairs of arches supporting (i) filaments bearing lamellae and (ii) rakers containing taste buds. Three cell types, specifically pavement cells, mitochondria‐rich cells (MRCs), and mucous cells, constituted the surface layer of the gill epithelium. Several distinctive characteristics of medaka gills were noted, including the presence of regularly distributed outgrowth on the lamellae, enlarged filament tips, the absence of microridges in most pavement cells in the filament and lamellae and the presence of MRCs in the arch at the filament base. A rapid mode of development was recorded in the gills of larval fish. At hatching, the larvae already had four arches with rudimentary filaments, rakers, and taste buds. The rudimentary lamellae appeared within 2 days after hatching. These results suggest the early involvement of larval gills in respiratory and osmoregulation activities. The responses of the macrostructures and microstructures of gills to seawater acclimation were similar in larvae and adult fish and included modification of the apical surface of MRCs, confirming the importance of these cells in osmoregulation. The potential roles of these peculiarities of the macrostructures and microstructures of medaka gills in the major functions of this organ, such as respiration and osmoregulation, are discussed.  相似文献

We measured gill slit fluctuating asymmetry (FA), a measure of developmental noise, in adults of three invertebrate deuterostomes with different feeding modes: the cephalochordate Branchiostoma floridae (an obligate filter feeder), the enteropneusts Protoglossus graveolens (a facultative filter feeder/deposit feeder) and Saccoglossus bromophenolosus (a deposit feeder). FA was substantially and significantly low in B. floridae and P. graveolens and high in S. bromophenolosus. Our results suggest that the gills of species that have experienced a relaxation of the filter feeding trait exhibit elevated FA. We found that the timing of development of the secondary collagenous gill bars, compared to the primary gill bars, was highly variable in P. graveolens but not the other two species, demonstrating an independence of gill FA from gill bar heterochrony. We also discovered the occasional ectopic expression of a second set of paired gills posterior to the first set of gills in the enteropneusts and that these were more common in S. bromophenolosus. Moreover, our finding that gill slits in enteropneusts exhibit bilateral symmetry suggests that the left‐sidedness of larval cephalochordate gills, and the directional asymmetry of Cambrian stylophoran echinoderm fossil gills, evolved independently from a bilaterally symmetrical ancestor.  相似文献

Fluctuating asymmetry (FA), which can be defined as random morphologic changes on bilateral symmetry plan of paired morphometric and meristic characters in response of environmental disturbances, is an alternative tool to traditional methods of environmental health assessment that has an interesting potential to appraise the state of adaptation of a population before that acute contaminations affect the whole community or ecosystem. This study aimed to assess the occurrence of FA in three morphometric and three meristic characters of the Corocoro grunt Orthopristis ruber (Cuvier, 1830), and compare the deviations in bilateral symmetry of this reef-associated and omnivorous in Guanabara Bay (Brazil), the venue for various outdoor aquatic sports during the 2016 Olympic Games. Five indexes of FA were tested over the six characters of 66 O. ruber, which were caught during the dry and wet seasons of 2011 and at three areas Guanabara Bay of different environmental characteristics. In addition to validate the existence of FA for O. ruber, our findings revealed significant deviations in the bilateral symmetry according to the FA indexes and fish characters. Together with the FA1 index, the number of gill rakers and the number of rays of the pectoral fin provided the best methodological approach to address the levels of FA in O. ruber as a response to environmental stressors in each region. The levels of FA in O. ruber was significantly lower in the Urca region (less impacted) than for individuals caught near the Paquetá Island and Rio-Niterói Bridge sites (more degraded). Partial Redundancy Analysis also shows that the fish characters are affected in different ways by environmental stressors, but especially in response to the levels of dissolved oxygen and, secondarily, to water transparency, and that Paquetá Island is apparently less impacted than the site near the Rio-Niterói Bridge. Our results confirm the potential of FA to be used as a tool to detect environmental effects on a reef-associated fish species in a tropical polluted bay, but further studies are necessary to validate our findings for other species and ecosystems.  相似文献

We investigated the involvement of carbonic anhydrase (CA) in mediating V-H(+)-ATPase translocation into the basolateral membrane in gills of alkalotic Squalus acanthias. Immunolabeling revealed that CA is localized in the same cells as V-H(+)-ATPase. Blood plasma from dogfish injected with acetazolamide [30 mg/kg at time (t) = 0 and 6 h] and infused with NaHCO(3) for 12 h (1,000 microeq.kg(-1).h(-1)) had significantly higher plasma HCO(3)(-) concentration than fish that were infused with NaHCO(3) alone (28.72 +/- 0.41 vs. 6.57 +/- 2.47 mmol/l, n = 3), whereas blood pH was similar in both treatments (8.03 +/- 0.11 vs. 8.04 +/- 0.11 pH units at t = 12 h). CA inhibition impaired V-H(+)-ATPase translocation into the basolateral membrane, as estimated from immunolabeled gill sections and Western blotting on gill cell membranes (0.24 +/- 0.08 vs. 1.00 +/- 0.28 arbitrary units, n = 3; P < 0.05). We investigated V-H(+)-ATPase translocation during a postfeeding alkalosis ("alkaline tide"). Gill samples were taken 24-26 h after dogfish were fed to satiety in a natural-like feeding regime. Immunolabeled gill sections revealed that V-H(+)-ATPase translocated to the basolateral membrane in the postfed fish. Confirming this result, V-H(+)-ATPase abundance was twofold higher in gill cell membranes of the postfed fish than in fasted fish (n = 4-5; P < 0.05). These results indicate that 1) intracellular H(+) or HCO(3)(-) produced by CA (and not blood pH or HCO(3)(-)) is likely the stimulus that triggers the V-H(+)-ATPase translocation into the basolateral membrane in alkalotic fish and 2) V-H(+)-ATPase translocation is important for enhanced HCO(3)(-) secretion during a naturally occurring postfeeding alkalosis.  相似文献

Muscle contraction activates AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK1/2), two signaling molecules involved in the regulation of muscle metabolism. The purpose of this study was to determine whether activation of AMPK and/or ERK1/2 contributes to the regulation of muscle fatty acid (FA) uptake and oxidation in contracting muscle. Rat hindquarters were perfused during rest (R) or electrical stimulation (E) of increasing intensity by manipulating train duration (E1 = 25 ms, E2 = 50 ms, E3 = 100 ms, E4 = 200 ms). For matched FA delivery, FA uptake was significantly greater than R during E1, E2, and E3 (7.8 +/- 0.7 vs. 14.4 +/- 0.3, 16.9 +/- 0.8, 15.2 +/- 0.5 nmol.min(-1).g(-1), respectively, P < 0.05), but not during E4 (8.3 +/- 0.3 nmol.min(-1).g(-1), P > 0.05). FA oxidation was significantly greater than R during E1 and E2 (1.5 +/- 0.1 vs. 2.3 +/- 0.2, 2.5 +/- 0.2 nmol.min(-1).g(-1), P < 0.05) before returning to resting levels for E3 and E4 (1.8 +/- 0.1 and 1.5 +/- 0.2 nmol.min(-1).g(-1), P > 0.05). A positive correlation was found between FA uptake and ERK1/2 phosphorylation from R to E3 (R(2) = 0.55, P < 0.05) and between FA oxidation and ERK1/2 phosphorylation from R to E2 (R(2) = 0.76, P < 0.05), correlations that were not maintained when the data for E4 and E3 and E4, respectively, were included in the analysis (R(2) = 0.04 and R(2) = 0.03, P > 0.05). A positive correlation was also found between FA uptake and FA oxidation and AMPK activity for all exercise intensities (R(2) = 0.57, R(2) = 0.65 respectively, P < 0.05). These results, in combination with previous data from our laboratory, suggest that ERK1/2 and AMPK are the predominant signaling molecules regulating FA uptake and oxidation during low- to moderate-intensity muscle contraction and during moderate- to high-intensity muscle contraction, respectively.  相似文献

The innervation pattern of the respiratory gill arches of the carp (Cyprinus carpio) is described. The gill region is innervated by the branchial branches of the glossopharyngeal and vagal nerves. Each branchial nerve divides at the level of or just distal to the epibranchial ganglion into: 1) a pretrematic branch, 2) a dorsal pharyngeal branch, and 3) a posttrematic branch. The dorsal pharyngeal branch innervates the palatal organ in the roof of the buccal cavity. The pretrematic and posttrematic branches innervate the posterior and anterior halves, respectively, of the gill arches bordering a gill slit. Each branch splits into an internal and an external part. The internal bundle innervates the buccal side of the gill arch, including the gill rakers. The external bundle terminates in the gill filaments. The epibranchial motor branch, a small nerve bundle containing only motor fibers, circumvents the ganglion and anastomoses distally with the posttrematic branch. Habitat use of three sympatric whitefish Coregonus lavaretus forms was determined using hydroacoustics, pelagic trawling and epibenthic gillnetting in the subarctic Lake Muddusjärvi during the day and night in June, August and September. Whitefish constituted 97% of the numerical catches and whitefish with high number of gill rakers (DR) were the most abundant whitefish form. Forms with low numbers of gill rakers used only epibenthic habitats during both the day and night in all study periods: large whitefish with low numbers of gill rakers (LSR) dwelled mainly at depths 0–10 m, whereas small whitefish with low numbers of gill rakers (SSR) used deeper (>10 m) habitats. LSR and SSR whitefish consumed mainly benthic macroinvertebrates during all study occasions. The planktivorous DR whitefish used both epibenthic and pelagic habitats, but vertical habitat selection varied both over time of day and season. In June, when light intensity was continuously high, DR whitefish did not perform diel vertical migrations. In August and September, when dark nights were distinguishable, DR whitefish ascended from the bottom to the pelagic at dusk to feed on zooplankton, and descended at dawn. DR whitefish used pelagic habitats only at the lowest light intensities during the night, which was probably related to the high predation risk from brown trout Salmo trutta .  相似文献

The relationship between the gill raker structure of planktivorous fish (number, distance between gill rakers and length) and selective feeding on different species and size classes of zooplankton was studied. Gill raker structure was measured for brown trout Salmo trutta , Arctic charr Salvelinus alpinus , whitefish Coregonus lavaretus , roach Rutilus rutilus , bleak Alburnus alburnus , and three-spined stickleback Gasterosteus aculeatus . All species are facultative planktivorous fish and occur commonly in Scandinavian lakes. The effect of gill raker structure was studied by comparing prey found in fish stomachs with the availability of zooplankton from several lakes. Gill raker length and distance were significantly correlated with fish length. Although gill raker structure differed among species, all fish species selected the larger zooplankters. The minimum size of cladoceran species found in fish stomachs was much smaller than the distance between gill rakers. Despite great differences in gill raker spacing, the minimum size ingested of Daphnia galeata and Bosmina longispina was similar for all predators. The hypothesis that small zooplankton are strained and retained by the gill rakers in particulate feeding planktivorous fish, particularly in salmonids and roach, is rejected.  相似文献

Odontesthes argentinensis was collected from Mar Chiquita Coastal Lagoon, the Southernmost coastal Atlantic Lagoon of Argentina. The morphology of the gills was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy. The morphology of the superficial structures of the gill filaments and pharyngeal region of the gill arch was discussed and related to their functional aspects. The gills arches are structurally similar to those of other teleosts and bring out the osmoregulatory capacity of this species. The epithelium that covers the surface of the filaments and the pharyngeal region of the gill arch is formed by polygonal pavement cells with conspicuous microridges. These folds in the membrane are not denoted in the epithelium of the respiratory lamellae. Apical crypts of chloride cells are present on the afferent and interlamellar filament surfaces, but are absent elsewhere on the gill arch. The highest density of mucous cells is observed into the gill filament and the pharyngeal region which indicates the existence of a protective strategy of the respiratory lamellae and the pharynx. The epithelium of the gill arches and the rakers is studded with spines. There are taste buds along the whole pharyngeal region that may be associated with their participation in tasting at this zone.  相似文献
