以毛乌素沙地景观不同尺度和生境中的植被盖度、植物物种数、土壤有机碳和全氮含量的空间格局和相互关系进行了研究。结果表明:不同尺度和生境中的植被盖度与植物物种数之间,以及土壤有机碳含量与全氮含量之间都具有显著的相关。在50-5000m的尺度上,植被盖度与植物物种数之间,以及土壤有机碳含量与全氮含量之间具有相似的空间格局,但植被特征(植被盖度与植物物种数)与土壤特征(土壤有机碳含量与全氮含量)具有不同的空间变化格局,两者之间没有显著的相关关系;在小于50m的尺度上,固定沙丘中的植物物种数与土壤有机碳和全氮含量之间具有显著的正相关,半固定水丘中的植物物种数与土壤有机碳含量具有显著的负相关。这说明,在小于50m的尺度上土壤有机碳和全氮含量格局制约了植被格局,但在50-5000m的尺度上却没有。这一研究表明植被与土壤之间的相互关系依赖于不同的空间尺度。  相似文献

Phytotoxins released by the dominant species in a lowland forest showed highest accumulations in their respective stands. The accumulation of such phytotoxins corresponded with the amount of litter produced and its decaying rate. The release of phytotoxins and their activity depended on whether they were free or bound, and on their solubility. Therefore, the phytotoxins in soils were highly variable in amounts from one species stand to another species stand, during the same and different times of the year. The persistent accumulation of phytotoxins from all dominant tree species continues to influence the soil properties around the trees. Fourteen phytotoxins were isolated from the leaf litter and the soil. Seven persistent toxins were quantified in soils under different tree stands at various times of the year. The cycle of release of bound and free phenolics is discussed.  相似文献

Transportation infrastructure has bought many blessings for human civilization, although its negative influences, especially on a forested landscape should be heeded with prime concerns. In this study, we studied, how railway track perforating through Lawachara National Park affecting the nearby vegetation alpha (α) and beta (β) diversity and composition and soil properties, and whether the effects are active until a certain distance into the forest interior. Total 32 plots in 8 transect lines perpendicular to the railway are laid with 4 plots at 10 m, 40 m, 70 m and 100 m distances. Tree and tree regeneration α and β-diversity and composition, and soil organic matter and pH were assessed at each of these plots. Our results showed that, soil organic matter and pH, as well as α-diversity indices were significantly (P < .05) higher in plots near the railway track than forest interior parts in case of both tree and tree regenerations. But the β-diversity did not vary significantly (P > .05) with distances. High amount of organic matter in outermost plots was maybe due to the decomposition of litterfall and debris where increased pH value was due to presence of high amount of calcareous substances and plant residue. As the α-diversity of plant decreased with increasing distance from the railway track and in most cases the value decreased until 70 m distance, indicated that the influence of the railway tracks maybe prominent up to 70 m. So, to minimize this effect of vegetation structure proper steps such as careful planning in road building, afforestation using the native species and evaluation of the necessity of infrastructure and possible alternatives to it should be assessed.  相似文献

应用经典统计学和地统计学方法,分析了八达岭地区土壤全氮(TN)在不同层次(A,B,C)的空间变异特征。同时结合地理信息系统(GIS),分析了该地区植被类型和土壤TN之间的关系。应用分类回归树模型(classification and regression trees,CART)分析了土壤TN和海拔与植被分布格局的关系。得到以下结论:(1)TN在A、B、C层平均值分别为2.94、1.30,0.63 g/kg,变异系数(CV)分别为33%、33%、45%,都表现为中等变异。(2)TN在不同土层的变异函数理论模型符合球状模型,TN在A层为弱空间相关,在B、C层为中等空间相关。(3)泛可里格插值表明,TN在不同层次都表现出了明显的空间分布趋势。不同植被类型所对应土壤全氮的空间分布则各不相同。(4)CART研究结果表明,该区植被类型分布格局可大致划分为四大部分。可初步确定海拔725m,TN含量4.23 g/kg和5.69 g/kg为影响该区植被分布格局的重要参考值。  相似文献

Inhibition of nitrification and nitrifiers was significantly variable under different tree species in the same forest ecosystem. Nitrate nitrogen was always lower than ammonium nitrogen when compared under each species. On the other hand, low numbers of Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter showed an inverse relationship with large amounts of ammonium in most samples. Aforementioned variation is due to the variable tree litter under different species, which in turn produces inhibitors of nitrification and nitrifiers. Inhibition of nitrification in natural ecosystems increases the amounts of ammonium nitrogen thus resulting in a conservation of energy, if plants utilize such nitrogen directly.  相似文献

Previous studies of the invasion of two exotic plants – Berberis thunbergii and Microstegium vimineum – in hardwood forests of New Jersey have shown a significant increase of pH in soils under the invasive plants as compared with soils from under native shrubs (Vaccinium spp). We present a further investigation of soil properties under the exotic plants in question. We measured the densities of earthworms in the soil under the two exotics and the native shrubs in three parks in New Jersey. In the same populations we also measured the extractable ammonium and nitrate in the top 5 cm of the soil, as well as the respiration of the soils and the potential rates of mineralization (aerobic lab incubation). In addition, we measured the nitrate reductase activity in leaves of the two exotic plants and several native shrubs and trees. Although there were differences between parks, we observed significantly higher earthworm densities in the soil under the exotic species. The worms were all European species. Soil pH, available nitrate and net potential nitrification were significantly higher in soils under the two exotic species. In contrast, total soil C and N and net ammonification were significantly higher under native vegetation. Nitrate reductase activities were much higher in the leaves of exotic plants than in the leaves of native shrubs and trees. Changes in soil properties, especially the change in nitrogen cycling, associated with the invasion of these two plant species may permit the invasion of other weedy or exotic species. Our results also suggest that even if the two exotic species were removed, the restoration of the native flora might be inhibited by the high nitrate concentrations in the soil.  相似文献

The lichen flora on 400 Picea abies trees (branches, trunks and trunk bases) in 100 patches of suboceanic spruce forest in Central Norway has been investigated. Relationships between occurrence of the species and a number of habitat and tree variables were analysed by detrended correspondence analysis (DCA). A total of 122 lichen species were recorded. Total species number was found to be about the same on branches and trunk bases (considerably lower on trunks), but with higher β-diversity on trunk bases. Most species could be classified as branch specialists, generalists, trunk or trunk base specialists. Among the measured habitat variables, stand age, altitude and vegetation type were found to be the most important for explaining the patterns of species distributions. Alectoria sarmentosa, Mycoblastus sanguinarius and several dry bark species on trunks, including Caliciales species, were more or less confined to old forests, while Usnea spp. were more abundant in young form. Trentepohlia-containing trunk base species like Arthonia vinosa, Dimerella pineti, Lecanactis abietina and Sclerophora coniophaea showed preference for vegetation types indicating nutrient-rich substrates. The number of branch species was highest on lower altitudes while the opposite was true for trunk species. Larger trees with rough bark in older stands had a more species-rich lichen flora, probably because of higher substratum area and availability of more diverse microsites.  相似文献

细根作为植物与土壤连接的重要部位,能够反映植物对生存环境的适应性。以黄河三角洲滨海盐碱地不同立地条件下11个造林树种为对象,基于细根分支等级划分1-4级根序并进行解剖特征测定,分析细根解剖性状对滨海盐碱地不同土壤条件的响应规律。结果表明:(1)不同根序的细根直径存在显著差异,细根直径随根序升高呈增大趋势,而同根序的细根直径在不同树种间表现出显著的种间差异(P < 0.05)。1-2级细根皮层厚度、3-4级细根导管密度在树种间的差异均达显著水平(P < 0.05)。(2)在较为严重盐渍化土壤条件下(立地1),细根皮层厚度较其他立地显著增大,但细根导管密度较小;在轻度盐碱立地条件下(立地3),细根导管密度较大;较为严重的盐碱立地具有更为发达的细根直径及维管柱直径。(3)树种1-2级细根解剖结构与土壤环境关系最为密切,其中1级根直径与土壤pH值显著正相关(P < 0.05),与土壤硝态氮含量呈显著负相关(P < 0.05)。对土壤理化性质与细根解剖性状的冗余分析表明,前两个轴的特征值达0.640和0.196,土壤速效养分含量与轴一(RDA1)呈正相关,低级根解剖性状则与轴二(RDA2)呈显著负相关。低级根解剖结构以及土壤的pH值能解释较多树种的差异性,其中低级根直径与皮层厚度对盐碱环境表现出较强的响应。  相似文献

Abstract Interactions between landscape position and the acidifying effect of trees planted into loess‐derived grassland soils were studied in the Ventana region of Argentina. Forests of Pinus radiata planted at the end of 1940, were selected in two different positions from the landscape, plains and slopes. Samples of the soil surface mineral horizon were taken from landscape positions at four distances from the trees and compared with grassland soils. The values of the main soil chemical properties changed significantly with distance from trees, with a decrease in pH, base saturation, exchangeable Ca2+, Mg2+ and K+, and increase in Na+, Al3+ and particularly H+ closer to the trees. This pattern confirms the prominent role of vegetation in bringing about changes in soil properties. Regression models showed high levels of explanation (r2 > 0.85) indicating that a high percentage of the spatial variability of soil chemical properties is systematic and predictable with distance from the trees. The pH in KCl proved an excellent tool for predicting the cationic composition of soils. Organic carbon and total nitrogen were significantly higher in the plains positions than in the slopes under the trees, whereas there was no difference under grassland. The slopes of the regression lines indicated that acidification is more intense in soils on the plains. Vegetation was the main factor influencing acidification of the studied soils. The landscape position regulates the bio‐hydrological factor and thus the speed of acidification process.  相似文献

Summary Surface soil conditions were assessed under three tree species on a property near Armidale on the Northern Tablelands of NSW. In both a stocked and adjacent destocked paddock, five trees each of three eucalypt species: Eucalyptus melliodora, Eucalyptus blakelyi and Eucalyptus nova‐anglica, were selected. Soil samples were collected (depth 0–10 cm) along transects 20 m in length running from beneath the tree canopy progressively outwards into the open paddock. Six additional transects were also sampled outside the influence of the trees. Soil properties at a distance from the trees differed little between the stocked and destocked paddock with only a slight acidification in the stocked paddock. However, soil properties around the scattered trees showed considerable variation between stocked and destocked equivalents and most notably in a systematic pattern with distance from the trees themselves. For example, bulk density increased significantly, whereas soil pH, carbon, nitrogen and extractable phosphorus contents all decreased significantly with distance from the trees. However, stocking and camping had modified some of these soil properties. In the stocked paddock, the systematic change in nitrogen and phosphorus with distance from the trees was less clear and the degree of dispersion of the data was largest at the most heavily camped site. In this paddock, bulk density was also generally higher whereas pH, carbon and nitrogen contents were lower compared with the destocked equivalent. Extractable phosphorus content was also higher around the trees in the stocked paddock especially where camping activity was most intense. It is concluded that, although animal camping can modify their effects, scattered trees have a beneficial effect on soil properties and in this respect they have value in the grazing system from a soil conservation perspective.  相似文献

Cadavers of late instar Lymantria dispar (gypsy moth) larvae killed by the fungal pathogen Entomophaga maimaiga predominantly contain resting spores (azygospores). These cadavers frequently remain attached to tree trunks for several weeks before they detach and fall to the ground. Density gradient centrifugation was used to quantify resting spores in the soil and on tree bark. Titers of resting spores were extremely high at 0–10 cm from the base of the tree and the number decreased with distance from the trunk of the tree. Titers were also highest in the organic layer of the soil with numbers decreasing precipitously with increasing depth in the soil. While resting spores were obtained from tree bark, densities per unit area were much lower than those found in the organic soil layer at the base of the tree. Field bioassays were conducted with caged L. dispar larvae to compare infection levels with distance from the tree trunk as well as on the trunk. Highest infection levels were found at 50cm from the tree base with lowest infection on the tree trunk at 0.5 m height, although we expected the highest infection levels among larvae caged at the bases of trees, where highest spore titers occurred. Laboratory experiments demonstrated that L. dispar larvae exposed to resting spore- bearing soil at the soil surface became infected while larvae exposed to soil with resting spores buried at least 1 cm below the surface did not become infected.  相似文献

Abstract. In the cool temperate zone in Japan Fagus crenata (beech) is a highly dominating climax species, especially in the snow-rich regions at higher altitudes. The explanation for this dominance was studied with special reference to the tolerance of tree trunks to snow pressure. Traits of six tree species: trunk bend, trunk height decrease, trunk damage and basal sprouting rate were measured in Fagus forest in the Echigo Mountains, central Japan along a snow pressure gradient. The following general trends were recognized: (1) trunk bend and trunk height decrease; (2) snow pressure caused trunk injury; (3) when the trunk bend exceeded a critical angle, the number of sprouts increased remarkably. Although the tolerances were different among the six species, most of them were seriously damaged by snow pressure, and many trunks were reduced in size. On the other hand, many sprouts emerged from deformed trunks and contributed to the maintenance of the population under heavy snow pressure. F. crenata was the only species whose trunk form and maximum size were hardly influenced by snow pressure.  相似文献

Seeds of tree species commonly invading old-fields (Fraxinus americana, Gleditsia triacanthos, Morus rubra, Platanus occidentalis, and Prunus serotina) were germinated at eight temperatures from 5 C to 40 C, with six moisture levels (2% to 18% gravimetric moisture content) at each temperature. For most species, total seedling emergence and emergence rate exhibited approximate bivariate Gaussian response surfaces. Emergence of all species, except Gleditsia, was much more sensitive to differences in temperature than to differences in moisture. Species differed considerably in their response breadths across the interactive gradients, with moisture response bearing little relationship to temperature response. Seeds of Acer saccharum, Crataegus mollis, Fraxinus americana, Gleditsia triacanthos, Morus rubra, and Prunus serotina were sown into old-field vegetation patches dominated by eight different plant species, across three different soils. Acer and Morus emergence exhibited no significant differences among vegetation patches. Emergence of other tree species differed among patch types, but identity of the vegetation (often early successional) most conducive to emergence typically varied from year to year. Emergence of most species responded more strongly to vegetation than to soil series. High Fraxinus and Prunus emergence was associated with dampened temperature ranges, while high Crataegus emergence was associated with low amounts of plant litter. Despite great variability, vegetation differences can predict tree seedling emergence better than do year-to-year or soil differences. Extrapolations from the laboratory experiments predicted approximate levels of overall seedling emergence in the field, but prevailing temperatures and moisture differences among plant neighborhoods alone were not sufficient to explain observed differences in seedling emergence among these patches.  相似文献

Measurements of 48 males and 45 females of Three-toed Woodpeckers shot in Norway revealed that the mean lengths of wing, tail, bill and tarsus of males were significantly greater than those of females. Sexual dimorphism was most marked for the bill and tarsus.
Feeding observations of the species from spruce-dominated mixed forests during the October-March period indicated an intersexual partitioning of the foraging niche. The males exhibited a stereotyped foraging pattern of bark scaling low down on the main trunks of dead spruce, whilst females used a more differentiated feeding technique and utilized a greater variety of trunk and branch sizes of dead, decaying and living trees of several different species. Significant intersexual differences were found in tree height preference and in the diameter of trunks and branches. The males foraged almost exclusively on the trunks of trees over 10 m high and over 15 cm in diameter, whilst females often frequented dead spruce, under 5 m high, and foraged on thinner trunks and branches. Foraging height was significantly lower for males than for females.
The relationship between the sexual dimorphism, the intersexual partitioning of the feeding niche and their biological significance, is briefly discussed.  相似文献

Soil pH was measured at two different spatial scales in coastal dunes on Norderney, North Sea, and in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Baltic Sea, Germany. Relationships between the variability in soil pH, species richness and species diversity are presented. Species richness and diversity were highest in grey dunes, where soil pH was at intermediate levels; both variables were lower in yellow and brown dunes. The variability in pH increased with increasing species diversity and also with scale. Overall, soil pH variability decreased with increasing vegetation cover. The lowest pH heterogeneity was found in heath dominated by Empetrum nigrum L. and grey dunes dominated by Campylopus introflexus (Hedw.) Brid. Increasing abundance of dominant species and decreasing species diversity of vegetation apparently reduces soil heterogeneity. Decreasing species diversity of vegetation is likely to explain decreasing variability in soil pH.  相似文献

Variations in the density and stiffness (Young's elastic modulus)of fresh wood samples drawn from different parts of the threemain trunks of a 32-year-old black locust tree,Robinia pseudoacacia(measuring 19.8 m at its highest point), were studied to determinewhether tree ontogeny can achieve a constant safety factor againstmechanical failure. Based on the properties of isolated woodsamples, the fresh density of sapwood decreased along radialtransects from bark to pith, while that of progressively olderheartwood samples increased, on average, towards the centreof each of the three trunks. Along the same radial transects,the Young's elastic modulus of sap- and heartwood increased.In terms of longitudinal changes in wood properties, mean woodmoduli (averages of sap- and heartwood samples) increased, onaverage, towards the base of each of the three trunks of thetree. However, the mean fresh densities of wood samples increasedtowards the top and the bottom of each trunk and were lowestroughly near trunk mid-length. The mean density-specific stiffness(the quotient of Young's modulus and fresh density) of woodwas thus lower toward the top and the bottom of the trunks andhighest near trunk mid-length. Mean values of fresh wood density-specificstiffness were used to estimate the critical buckling heightsfor sections of the trunks differing in diameter and age. Theseestimates indicated that ontogenetic variation in the physicalproperties and relative amounts of sap- and heartwood in trunkscould maintain a constant factor of safety (approximately equalto 2) as a sapling grows in height and girth into a mature tree.This expectation was supported by data from 16 black locusttrees differing in height and diameter at breast height (DBH). 叶片作为植物与大气环境连接的重要纽带, 对逆境具有强烈的响应。基于叶性状探讨植物对环境的适应机制对盐碱地植物群落构建具有指导意义。该研究以山东省滨海盐碱地3种不同土壤条件下的11个造林树种为对象, 通过对各树种叶解剖性状的测定分析, 阐明叶片功能性状与盐碱地土壤环境的关系, 以期为盐碱地植被修复与群落构建提供科学依据。主要研究结果: (1) 11个树种的叶片厚度较大, 栅栏组织发达, 紧密排列在叶肉近轴面, 呈3-5层。各树种叶片的栅栏组织与海绵组织厚度比值(PT/ST)普遍较高但差异较大, 可指示叶解剖特征在树种间的差异性。(2)不同树种的叶解剖结构在立地环境间具有显著差异, PT/ST可作为指示指标。(3)相关分析和冗余分析表明, 树种叶片解剖结构与立地土壤条件具有密切联系。PT/ST与土壤理化性质相关程度高, 且与土壤pH以及土壤电导率(25 ℃)均呈显著正相关关系, 与土壤硝态氮含量呈显著负相关关系。叶片特征和叶脉特征可解释叶性状随环境变异约84%的信息量。综上所述,叶解剖结构与盐碱地土壤条件存在密切关系, 基于叶解剖特征可进一步分析树种对盐碱环境的适应性, 并为盐碱地植物群落构建的树种选择提供科学依据。  相似文献

 旅游活动对旅游地环境的影响几乎是不可避免的,尤以对植物的影响最为显著。随着游客的大量增多及旅游宾馆酒楼释放的废气污染物的急剧增加,张家界国家森林公园境内的植物遭受了较为严重的污染和伤害。为了探明旅游活动对张家界国家森林公园植物生长发育、体内化学物质成分及林木树干伤害等方面的影响,该研究采用对比分析法,调查分析了公园内受大气污染较为严重的接待区的几种林木叶内氟化物和SO2含量及杉木(Cunninghamia lanceolata)生长速度的变化,同时还对游道两边树木受游客刻伤的程度进行了调查分析。结果表明,公园接待区杉木、柳杉(Cryptomeria fortunei)、枫杨(Pterocarya hupehensis)叶片中氟化物及SO2含量较对照区增大了1.6~16倍;杉木的直径生长量较对照区降低了32.3%~57.1%;游客的乱刻乱划给金鞭溪、黄石寨等景区游道两边的林木留下了许多伤痕,这些伤痕主要分布在离地面1.2~1.6 m的部位,受伤程度与树种、树皮光滑程度、树干与游道边缘距离及方位有关。为了保护公园内的植物,必须改善公园内的燃料结构,减少接待设施的数量,并加强对游客的环保教育。  相似文献

The dry-season dynamics of soil inorganic nitrogen pools were investigated under three types of vegetation (Primary Lithocarpus xylocarpus forest, secondary oak forest and tea plantation), which represent three different intensities of disturbance. Pools of inorganic nitrogen in soils (0-15 cm) showed strong differences between the three types of vegetation. Organic material, total nitrogen reduced and C/N ratio fell with increasing intensity of disturbance, while nitrate loss potential rose. These results suggest that disturbance does not favor the retention of soil nutrient elements. The dry-season dynamics of the inorganic nitrogen pools were similar under the three vegetation types while the dynamics of NH+-N differed from that of NO3--N’s. NH4+-N was the major form of inorganic nitrogen, and NO3-N content only was 1.16%-3.44%, 0.58%-2.09% and 2.02%- 7.37% of NH4+-N content in the primary Lithocatpus xylocarpus forests, secondary oak forests and tea plantations.  相似文献

Soil microorganisms are applied to evaluate soil quality and significant in restoration ecology for their important roles on nutrient cycle and sensitivity to environment changes. To investigate the effects of re vegetation pattern on soil physicochemical properties and soil bacterial community and the reasons for soil bacterial community discrepancy, the soils of three re vegetation patterns (grass of Miscanthus sinensis, the mixed forest of Alnus nepalensis, Cupressus torulosa and Quercus acutissima, the mixed forest of Cupressus torulosa and Alnus nepalensis) in Kunyang phosphate mine, near Kunming, Yunnan province of China were studied. Polymerase chain reaction denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (PCR DGGE) and soil physicochemical indices were used to analyze soil bacterial communities (diversity and species composition) and soil physicochemical properties. The results indicated that re vegetation contributed to soil nutrients and soil physicochemical properties were different in these three patterns. As for soil bacterial community, the diversity and species composition varied in different patterns. Pearson correlation showed that soil bacterial community diversity was correlated with re vegetation pattern significantly but not with any soil physicochemical properties determined in this research. Soil bacterial species composition was strongly correlated with soil available nitrogen and re vegetation pattern but no others through Canonical Correspondence Analysis (CCA). It is concluded that both soil physicochemical properties and bacterial community (diversity and species composition) vary in different re vegetation patterns and the reason for diversity difference is re vegetation pattern while the affecting factors of soil bacterial community composition are soil available nitrogen and re vegetation pattern orderly.  相似文献
