The following monogeneans from deepwater fish in southeastern Australia are described, based on a survey of 1,563 fish (66 or 67 species, 35 families, 15 orders): Reimericotyle ceratoscopeli from Myctophum phengodes, M. hygomi, Hygophum hygomi and Ceratoscopelus warmingii; Diclidophora tubiformis n. sp. from Coryphaenoides serrulatus and C. subserrulatus; Diclidophora sp. from Lepidorhynchus denticulatus; Polycliphora nezumiae from Coryphaenoides serrulatus; Paracyclocotyla sp. from Lepidion microcephalus; juvenile Paracyclocotyla sp. from Hoplostethus atlanticus; Polyipnicola hygophi from Hygophum hygomi, Notoscopelus resplendens, Electrona risso and Myctophum phengodes; Diclidophoropsis sp. from Nezumia sp.; Eurysorchis manteri from Hyperoglyphe sp.; Heteraxinoides sp. from Synagrops japonicus; Megalocotyle helicoleni from Helicolenis papillosus. The following species are recorded but not described: Allocotylophora polyprionum (Diclidophoroidea), four unidentified species of the Diclidophoroidea from Diastobranchus capensis, both Hoplostethus atlanticus and H. intermedius, Chlorophthalmus sp. and Synagrops japonicus, respectively, one species of the Capsaloidea from Enoplosus armatus, one species of the Capsalidae from Lepidotrigla argus, one species of the Dactylogyrinae from Atypichthys strigatus, and one species of the Ancyrocephalinae from Chlorophthalmus nigripinnis.  相似文献

Anthobothrium laciniatum Linton, 1890 is redescribed based on specimens taken from the dusky shark Carcharhinus obscurus (Lesueur) collected from the Northwestern Atlantic Ocean, and a neotype is designated. A. laciniatum differs from A. cornucopia van Beneden, 1850, A. altavelae Euzet & Ben Hassine, 2002, A. lesteri Williams, Burt & Caira, 2004 and A. spinosum Subhapradha, 1955 in total length. It further differs from A. cornucopia, A. altavelae and A. spinosum in proglottid number, and differs from A. galeorhini Suriano, 2002, A. cornucopia, and A. spinosum in testis number. A. lyndoni n. sp. is described from the sandbar shark C. plumbeus (Nardo). This new species differs from A. laciniatum in ovarian width and from A. cornucopia, A. altavelae, A. galeorhini and A. spinosum in the total number of proglottids. It further differs from A. cornucopia, A. galeorhini, and A. spinosum in total length, and from A. cornucopia and A. galeorhini in the number of testes. A. lyndoni n. sp. differs from A. lesteri in bothridial muscle and ovarian morphology. Anthobothrium caseyi n. sp. is described from Prionace glauca (Linnaeus). This new species differs conspicuously from the other six species of Anthobothrium van Beneden, 1850 (sensu stricto) in the shape of its proglottid laciniations. The taxonomic status of 43 species that have been associated with Anthobothrium is addressed. Taxonomic actions regarding Anthobothrium during the past century have resulted in a polyphyletic taxon.  相似文献

This study evaluates the levels of messenger RNA (mRNA) for eIF4E, PARN, H1FOO, cMOS, GDF9, and CCNB1 in oocytes from secondary and antral follicles at different stages of development. The effects of in vitro culture, in vitro prematuration, and in vitro maturation on the expression of these genes on oocytes were also analyzed. The results showed that mRNA levels for H1FOO, GDF9, and PARN were higher in oocytes from small, medium, and large antral follicles, respectively, than those seen in secondary follicles. Oocytes from small, medium, and large antral follicles had higher levels of CCNB1 than oocytes from secondary follicles. Oocytes from cultured secondary follicles had higher levels of GDF9, CMOS, PARN, eIF4E, CCNB1, and H1FOO than before culture. Prematured oocytes from small antral follicles had higher levels of mRNA for GDF9, PARN, and eIF4E than before culture. In addition, higher levels of cMOS and H1FOO were identified in prematured oocytes from medium antral follicles. In conclusion, follicular growth is associated with an increase in the expression of H1FOO, GDF9, CCNB1, and PARN. The culture of secondary follicles, prematuration, and maturation of oocytes from antral follicles increase the expression of eIF4E, PARN, H1FOO, cMOS, GDF9, and CCNB1.  相似文献

Aims: To investigate the species distribution in Aeromonas isolates from diseased fish, healthy controls and water environment in China; to evaluate the frequency of the aerolysin (aer), cytotonic enterotoxin (alt), cytotoxic enterotoxin (act), temperature‐sensitive protease (eprCAI) and serine protease (ahp) genes in Aeromonas isolates; and to determine the potential pathogenicity of these isolates. Methods and Results: Two hundred and two Aeromonas isolates from diseased fish (n = 42), healthy fish (n = 120) and water environment (n = 40) in China were identified to species levels based on sequencing of the housekeeping gene gyrB, while the distribution of five virulence factors, including aer, alt, act, eprCAI and ahp, was investigated by PCR. Aeromonas veronii (25/42; 60%) and Aeromonas hydrophila (14/42; 33%) were the species most commonly isolated from diseased fish, while Aer. veronii was the most common species in healthy fish (90/120; 75%) and water samples (25/40; 62·5%). All the five virulence genes were present in 9% (19/202), among which 10 strains were from diseased fish and nine were identified as Aer. hydrophila. For the strains carrying five virulence genes, the average 50% lethal doses (LD50s) of strains from diseased fish were lower when compared with the strains from healthy fish and water environment. Conclusions: Aeromonas veronii is the most common species, but no significant difference exists in the isolates obtained from diseased fish and from healthy fish. However, Aer. hydrophila isolates were significantly more frequent from diseased fish than from healthy fish. aer+alt+act+eprCAI+ahp+ was more frequent virulence genotype in Aeromonas isolates from diseased fish than from healthy fish and water environment, and the aer+alt+act+eprCAI+ahp+ isolates were more virulent to zebrafish comparing to the other genetic profiles. Significant and Impact of the Study: Aeromonas species in aquatic environments are various and have considerable virulence potential, and therefore, there is a need for more careful and intensive epidemiology studies.  相似文献

[目的] 为了探究锡林河流域中游不同植被带土壤绿菌门(Chlorobi)成员的空间分布特征及驱动因子。[方法] 本文选择典型河滨带环境为研究对象,沿河流中心至河流阶地(陆向)方向,在无植被带(BC)、水莎草沼泽(BS)、灯芯草沼泽化草甸(LF)、鹅绒委陵菜草甸(HF)、河流阶地羊草草原(LT)、丘陵坡地大针茅典型草原(HT)中分别采集0-10 cm土壤样品。基于16S rRNA基因高通量测序分析土壤绿菌门微生物群落的组成、丰度及空间分布特征;结合土壤理化因子分析绿菌门微生物群落空间异质性的驱动因子。[结果] 在属水平上共检测到来自绿菌目(Chlorobiales)和Ignavibacteriales目的9个类群。Chlorobiales1、2、6及Ignavibacteriales7、9类群的最高相对丰度低于0.40%;Ignavibacteriales3、4、5、8类群的最高相对丰度介于0.54%-1.06%。Chlorobiales1、2类群在HF、LT和HT的相对丰度显著高于BS(P<0.05),Chlorobiales1类群的相对丰度与pH和总有机碳含量呈极显著正相关(P<0.01);Chlorobiales2类群的相对丰度与粉黏粒含量呈极显著正相关(P<0.01);Ignavibacteriales3、5、7、9和Ignavibacterium4类群在LF的相对丰度显著高于BC(P<0.05),与含水量呈极显著正相关(P<0.01);Chlorobiales6和Ignavibacteriales8类群在BS的相对丰度显著高于其他植被带(P<0.05),与氨态氮含量呈极显著正相关(P<0.01)。变异权重分析表明,土壤含水量解释了绿菌门微生物群落空间变异的65.7%。[结论] 锡林河流域不同植被带土壤绿菌门微生物群落存在明显的空间异质性;土壤含水量是不同植被带绿菌门微生物群落空间异质性的主要驱动因子。  相似文献

Several medusa species have been described from inland waters in Australia, Eurasia, Africa and America. The chief objective of this study is to summarize all species described from freshwater and from saline lakes, because the knowledge about this group is sparse and scattered in the literature. I summarize all accessible literature to deduct how many species of freshwater medusae exist and to show their distribution, relation and their phylogenetic origin.All medusae described from freshwater except Halmomises are Olindiidae (Limnomedusae). More than 20 Olindiidae species (in 6 genera) have been recorded from freshwater. However, about half of them may not be valid species or have been described insufficiently or improperly. Within the genera Craspedacusta only 3 (or 5) species are certain (C. sowerbii, C. iseanum, C. sinensis (and maybe C. sichuanensis and C. ziguiensis)). The genera Limnocnida may consist of 6 species, three from Africa (L. tanganjicae, L. victoriae, L. congoensis) and 3 from India (L. indica, L. biharensis, L. nepalensis). The status of Astrohydra (from Japan), Mansariella and Keralika (both from India) is uncertain. Additionally, the present study suggests that Craspedacusta and at least one type of Calpasoma hydrants are identical and Astrohydra may be closely related to Craspedacusta and/or Calpasoma.A comparison of the freshwater medusae with species described from saline lakes and brackish sites (Australomedusae from Australia and Moerisia from Egypt, Black Sea, Caspian Sea and Ganges Estuary) shows that these two groups are not closely related.  相似文献

Aims: To evaluate the diversity and antimicrobial activity of bacteria from the marine sponges Suberites carnosus and Leucosolenia sp. Methods and Results: Two hundred and thirty‐seven bacteria were isolated from the sponges S. carnosus (Demospongiae) and Leucosolenia sp. (Calcarea). Isolates from the phyla Actinobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes and Proteobacteria were obtained. Isolates of the genus Pseudovibrio were dominant among the bacteria from S. carnosus, whereas Pseudoalteromonas and Vibrio were the dominant genera isolated from Leucosolenia sp. Approximately 50% of the isolates from S. carnosus displayed antibacterial activity, and c. 15% of the isolates from Leucosolenia sp. demonstrated activity against the test fungal strains. The antibacterial activity observed was mostly from Pseudovibrio and Spongiobacter isolates, while the majority of the antifungal activity was observed from the Pseudoalteromonas, Bacillus and Vibrio isolates. Conclusions: Both sponges possess a diverse range of bioactive and potentially novel bacteria. Differences observed from the sponge‐derived groups of isolates in terms of bioactivity suggest that S. carnosus isolates may be a better source of antibacterial compounds, while Leucosolenia sp. isolates appear to be a better source of antifungal compounds. Significance and Impact of the Study: This is the first study in which cultured bacterial isolates from the marine sponges S. carnosus and a Leucosolenia sp. have been evaluated for their antibacterial activity. The high percentage of antibacterial isolates from S. carnosus and of antifungal isolates from Leucosolenia sp. suggests that these two sponges may be good sources for potentially novel marine natural products.  相似文献

The dinoflagellate genus Coolia, which contains potentially toxic species, is an important component of epiphytic assemblages in marine ecosystems. The morphology of C. malayensis has been illustrated from strains isolated in Asia and Oceania. In this study, strains of C. malayensis isolated from the Caribbean Sea in Puerto Rico, and for the first time from the South Atlantic Ocean in Brazil, were investigated by light, epifluorescence and scanning electron microscopies. No significant morphological differences between these new strains and other geographically distant strains of C. malayensis were observed. In the LSU rDNA phylogeny, the C. malayensis sequences from Brazil and Puerto Rico branched within the clade of strains from Oceania and Asia. The recently described species C. santacroce branched as a sister group of C. monotis, and C. palmyrensis was basal to the combined group of C. monotis/C. malayensis/C. santacroce. A tentative undescribed species from Florida and New Zealand branched as a sister group of C. malayensis. Our results confirm that C. malayensis showed a cosmopolitan distribution in tropical to subtropical waters, while the type species C. monotis remains endemic for the Mediterranean Sea and the temperate North Atlantic.  相似文献

Twenty two species of ectoparasites (Family Nycteribiidae: Nycteribia (Listropoda) schmidlii schmidlii, Nycteribia (Nycteribia) latreillii, Nycteribia (Nycteribia) pedicularia, Penicillidia (Penicillidia) dufourii, and Phthiridium biarticulatum; Family Streblidae: Brachytarsina (Brachytarsina) flavipennis and Raymondia huberi; Order Siphonaptera: Rhinolophopsylla unipectinata arabs, Nycteridopsylla longiceps, Araeopsylla gestroi, Ischnopsyllus intermedius, and Ischnopsyllus octactenus; Order Heteroptera: Cimex pipistrelli, Cimex lectularius, and Cacodmus vicinus; Class Arachnida: Order Mesostigmata: Spinturnix myoti and Eyndhovenia euryalis; Order Ixodida: Family Argasidae: Argas transgariepinus and Argas vespertilionis; Family Ixodidae: Hyalomma dromedarii, Ixodes ricinus, and Ixodes vespertilionis) were recovered from 19 bat species in Algeria. New host records for bats are recorded for the first time: N. schmidlii from Rh. clivosus and R. cystops; N. latreillii from Rh. blasii and P. gaisleri; R. huberi from Rh. clivosus; C. pipistrelli from E. isabellinus and H. savii; C. vicinus from E. isabellinus; S. myoti from P. gaisleri; E. euryalis from P. gaisleri and Rh. blasii; A. vespertilionis from P. gaisleri; I. ricinus from T. teniotis and Rh. hipposideros and H. dromedarii from P. kuhlii. SYNOPSIS. During a 15-year survey (1956–1970) involving more than 12,000 lizards, the incidence and annual fluctuations of both Plasmodium floridense and Schellackia occidentalis are reported. The occurrence of P. floridense in Anolis carolinensis from the Mainland (Fargo, Georgia area) varied from 52% (1958) to 10% (1964) with an average of 35%, while in Sceloporus undulatus from the same area during the same period it varied from 10% (1969) to 2% (1964) with an average of about 5%. The occurrence of Schellackia and Plasmodium in both Anolis and Sceloporus from Cumberland Island, and Schellackia from Anolis from 2 other Coastal Islands (Sapelo, 2% and Seahorse, 30%) are reported for the first time. On Cumberland, the only Georgia island thus far studied, where both Anolis and Sceloporus are found together, 16% of Anolis and 13% of Sceloporus had sporozoites of Schellackia sp. in the blood, while 11% of Sceloporus and 21% of Anolis harbored P. floridense.  相似文献

Three new and one previously described species of Bychowskyella Achmerow, 1952 were collected from the gills of four species of freshwater catfish in Peninsular Malaysia. They are Bychowskyella teysmanni n. sp. from Clarias teysmanni (Bleeker, 1857) (Clariidae), Bychowskyella sisoris n. sp. from Glyptothorax major (Boulenger, 1894) (Sisoridae), Bychowskyella baueri n. sp. from Silurichthys hasselti (Bleeker, 1858) (Siluridae), and Bychowskyella tchangi Gussev, 1976 from Clarias macrocephalus Gunther, 1864 (Clariidae). B. teysmanni n. sp. differs from B. tchangi in having two pairs of large marginal hooks. B. sisoris n. sp. is unique in possessing two onchia, while B. baueri n. sp. differs from previously described Bychowskyella species in the structure of the dorsal onchium. C. macrocephalus is a new host record for B. tchangi in Peninsular Malaysia.  相似文献

Seven species of Centrorhynchus Lühe, 1911 are present in the Parasitic Worms Collection of The Natural History Museum, London: C. aluconis (Müller, 1780) Lühe, 1911 from Strix aluco Linnaeus in Great Britain; C. buteonis (Schrank, 1788) Kostylev, 1914 from Accipiter virgatus (Temminck) (new host record) in Sri Lanka (new geographical record); C. clitorideus (Meyer, 1931) Golvan, 1956 from Athene brama (Temminck) (new host record) in India; C. crotophagicola Schmidt & Neiland, 1966 (encysted juveniles in the stomach wall) from Anolis lineatopus Grey (new host record) and A. sagrei Duméril & Bibron (new host record) from Jamaica (new geographical record); C. falconis (Johnston & Best, 1943) Golvan, 1956 from Spilornis cheela (Latham) in Sri Lanka (new geographical record); C. globocaudatus (Zeder, 1800) Lühe, 1911 from Falco ardosiaceus Vieillot (new host record) in West Africa; and C. milvus Ward, 1956 from Milvus migrans (Boddaert) in India. A total of 559 fleas representing four species (Pulex irritans, Ctenocephalides felis, Ctenocephalides canis and Spilopsyllus cuniculi) collected on carnivores (five Iberian lynx Lynx pardinus, six European wildcat Felis silvestris, 10 common genet Genetta genetta, three Eurasian badger Meles meles, 22 red fox Vulpes vulpes, 87 dogs and 23 cats) in Andalusia, southern Spain, were distributed in 156 pools of monospecific flea from each carnivore, and tested for Bartonella infection in an assay based on polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification of the 16 S–23 S rRNA intergenic spacer region. Twenty‐one samples (13.5%) were positive and the sequence data showed the presence of four different Bartonella species. Bartonella henselae was detected in nine pools of Ctenocephalides felis from cats and dogs and in three pools of Ctenocephalides canis from cats; Bartonella clarridgeiae in Ctenocephalides felis from a cat, and Bartonella alsatica in Spilopsyllus cuniculi from a wildcat. DNA of Bartonella sp., closely related to Bartonella rochalimae, was found in seven pools of Pulex irritans from foxes. This is the first detection of B. alsatica and Bartonella sp. in the Iberian Peninsula. All of these Bartonella species have been implicated as agents of human diseases. The present survey confirms that carnivores are major reservoirs for Bartonella spp.  相似文献

Cyanidium caldarium, Cyanidioschyzon merolae and Galdieria sulphuraria are three unicellular algae characteristic, of acid thermal environments. Recently, on the basis of morphological characters, three new species of Galdieria (G. partita, G. daedala, G. maxima ) isolated from acid-thermal springs in Russia have been instituted. A selected region of rbcL and the sequence of the intergenic spacer between the rbcL and rbcS have been amplified and sequenced from different Galdieria species and strains, in order to define molecular relationship among these interesting algae. The obtained cladogram shows that Cyanidium caldarium and Cyanidioschyzon merolae form a sister group which, in turn, is in a sister group relationship with Galdieria. This last genus is divided in two clades, one of which includes G. sulphuraria accessions from Naples (Italy), California, and Yellowstone and the other one includes G. sulphuraria accessions from Java (Indonesia) and from the Russian species. These results support the status of the genus Galdieria and suggest that G. daedala, G. maxima and G. partita are three very similar strains of G. sulphuraria; the rbcL variation within Galdieria accessions has a pattern which is broadly connected to the geographial distribution. The data obtained from the intergenic rbcL-rbcS spacer partly confirm those from the rbcL analysis.  相似文献

A 25kbp DNA fragment from the chromosome of Rhodobacter capsulatus B10 carrying hydrogenase (hup) determinants was completely sequenced. Coding regions corresponding to 20 open reading frames were identified. The R. capsulatus hydrogenase-specific gene (hup and hyp) products bear significant structural identity to hydrogenase gene products from Escherichia coli (13), from Rhizobium liguminosarum (16), from Azotobacter vinelandii (10) and from Alcaligenes eutrophus (11). The sequential arrangement of the R. capsulatus genes is: hupR2-hupU-hypF -hupS-hupL-hupM-hupD -hupF -hupG -hupH -huoJ -hupK -hypA-hypB-hupR1-hypC -hypD -hypE -ORF19 -ORF20 , all contiguous and transcribed from the same DNA strand. The last two potential genes do not encode products that are related to identified hydrogenase-specific gene products in other species. The sequence of the 12 R. capsulatus genes underlined above is presented. The mutation site in two of the Hup? mutants used in this study, RS13 and RCC12, was identified in the hypF gene (deletion of one G) and in the hypD qene (deletion of 54 bp), respectively. The hypF gene product shares 45% identity with the product of hydA from E. coli and the product of hypF from R. leguminosarum. Those products present at their N-terminus a Cys arrangement typical of zinc-finger proteins. The G deletion in the C-terminal region of hypF in the RS13 mutant  相似文献

The microsomal mixed-function oxidase (MFO) in houseflies is controlled by two semidominant genes, Ox 2 and Ox 5 , situated on chromosomes 2 and 5, respectively. MFO controlled by these genes has almost similar affinity toward cyclodiene epoxidation, but only the one controlled by Ox 5 can degrade DDT. A strain, YFc, homozygous for both oxidase genes shows twice as much MFO activity toward aldrin as either of the parent homozygotes, Fc or Y, but only as much activity toward DDT as the parent strain Fc. These Ox 2 and Ox5 genes in the YFc strain maintain their identity with regard to DDT in their hybrids with a susceptible homozygous strain recessive for the two oxidases as seen by segregation in the test-cross progenies. The Ox 2 gene is situated at 32 units from the Deh and car genes, 40 units from stw, and about 69 units from Mk. The Ox 5 gene is situated at 40 units from the ocra gene and 82 units from apt on chromosome 5.  相似文献

The female reproductive structures and their development, and the vegetative structure are studied in 17 species of red algae in the Cryptonemiales (Rhodophyceae). Three genera, Weeksia, Constantinea, and the type species of Leptocladia, are removed from the Dumontiaceae to a newly created family, the Weeksiaceae, because of differing postfertilization events leading to the development of the gonimoblast from a cell of the carpogonial branch. Three genera of Dumontiaceae are studied: Pikea, including P. californica, the type species, and Pikea robusta a newly described species; Dilsea californica, and a newly described species of Neodilsea, a genus heretofore known only from the northwestern Pacific. Two transfers are made from the genus Leptocladia, 1 to Farlowia, as F. conferta, and 1 to Rhodophyllis (Gigartinales) as R. peruviana. Three species in the Kallymeniaceae are redescribed: Kallymenia pacifica, a rare and nearly unknown species from southern California and adjacent Pacific Mexico; K. norrisii from central California; and K. oblongifructa from Washington, Oregon, and northern California.  相似文献

 In this study we construct a phylogenetic hypothesis for the relatedness among disjunct subspecies of Cyclamen repandum and its two allopatric congeners, C. creticum and C. balearicum in order to examine the evolutionary divergence of currently isolated populations across the western Mediterranean. The most parsimonious phylogenetic tree obtained from sequencing the cpDNA trnL (UAA) intron suggests a major phylogeographic divide in southern Greece between two clades. The first clade comprises samples of C. repandum subsp. peloponnesiacum (from the Peloponnese) and C. creticum (from Crete). The second comprises samples of C. repandum subsp. repandum (from Croatia, Italy, southern France, Corsica, Sardinia and Sicily), C. repandum subsp. rhodense (from Rhodes and Kos) and C. balearicum (from the Balearic Islands and southern France). These data suggest that C. creticum has evolved in allopatry from C. repandum subsp. peloponnesiacum and that C. balearicum and C. repandum ssp. rhodense have diverged from C. repandum subsp. repandum at its western and eastern distribution limits. At one small site on Corsica, a population of C. repandum may have introgressed with relictual populations of C. balearicum. These divergence patterns illustrate how a phylogenetic perspective can be used to better understand the evolution of endemism in the Mediterranean flora. SYNOPSIS. During a survey of parasites of Sabah mammals, coccidia oocysts were found in 9 of 22 host species examined. Sporulated oocysts of Klossia sp. from Rattus whiteheadi are described. New geographic records are reported for Eimeria callosciuri, Eimeria sabani, and Eimeria tupaiae. New host and geographic records are reported for Eimeria separata from Rattus cremoriventer, for E. tupaiae and Eimeria ferruginea from Tupaia tana, for Eimeria nieschulzi from Rattus muelleri, and for E. sabani and Klossia sp. from R. whiteheadi.  相似文献

Summary The malE and malK genes from Salmonella typhimurium, and the MalEFG operon and a portion of malK from Enterobacter aerogenes were cloned and sequenced. Plasmid-borne malE genes from both species and the malF and malG genes from E. aerogenes were expressed normally in Escherichia coli, and their products function in maltose transport. This shows that the malB products from the three species are interchangeable, at least in the combinations tested. The general genetic organization of the malB region is conserved. Potential binding sites and distances between them are highly conserved in the regulatory intervals. An unexpected conserved region was detected, which we call the U box, and which could be another target for a regulatory protein. This hypothesis is supported by the presence of the U box in the regulatory, region of the pulA-malX operon in Klebsiella pneumoniae. The intergenic region between malE and malF from S. typhimurium and E. aerogenes, contains inverted repeats similar to the palindromic units (PU or REP) found at the same location in E. coli. The predicted amino acid sequence of the encoded proteins showed 90% or more identity in every pairwise comparison of species.  相似文献
