Shindo , K., and H. Kamemoto . (U. Hawaii, Honolulu.) Karyotype analysis of some sarcanthine orchids . Amer. Jour. Bot. 50(1): 73–79. Illus. 1963.—Karyotypes were analyzed for 11 species in 10 genera of the sub-tribe Sarcanthinae (Orchidaceae). These were Luisia teres, Vanda teres, Renanthera monachica, Arachnis flos-aeris, Aerides odoralum, Vanda lamellata, Neofinetia falcata, Ascocenlruin curvifolium, Phalaenopsis sanderiana, Trichoglottis philippinensis and Angraecum eburneum. The chromosome number of all plants investigated was uniformly 2n = 38, but differences were observed for chromosome size and morphology. The chromosomes of Vanda teres and Luisia teres were among the largest and could be easily distinguished from those of Phalaenopsis sanderiana which were the smallest. Also, the karyotypes of Vanda teres and Luisia teres were the most asymmetrical with the greatest number of chromosomes with subterminal centromeres, while Trichoglottis philippinensis exhibited the most symmetrical karyotype. The significance of similarities and differences of karyotypes in relation to taxonomy and evolution in the Sarcanthinae was briefly discussed.  相似文献

The chromosome complement and the C-banded karyotypes of specimens of Geoplana marginata auct. and of Issoca rezendei (Schirch) were investigated. The diploid and fundamental numbers of the two species were identical (2n = 14; FN = 28). Their karyotypes were similar except for the morphology of chromosome pair 6. Their C-banding patterns differed in quantity and localization of the constitutive heterochromatin. The similarity in karyotypes of these species support the hypothesis, proposed earlier on morphological grounds, that the genera Geoplana Stimpson and Issoca Froehlich are closely related. G. marginata and I. rezendei are the first land planarian species of the Neotropical Region to have their karyotypes described.  相似文献

Chromosome numbers and karyotypes of species from four American Zamiaceae (Cycadales) are reported. Zamia shows interspecific and intraspecific chromosome variation, whereas Microcycas, Ceratozamia, and Dioon have constant karyotypes within each genus. In Zamia, all karyotypes have the same number of submetacentric and acrocentric chromosomes, but they differ in the number of metacentric and telocentric chromosomes. Centric fission of metacentric chromosomes is proposed to explain the karyotypic variation in this genus. Zamia shows karyological relationships with Microcycas and Ceratozamia, whereas Dioon appears very distinct from the other American cycad genera. Affinity among Zamia, Ceratozamia, and Microcycas karyotypes and distinctiveness of Dioon karyotypes are supported by comparative analysis of phenotypic characters in the four genera.  相似文献

A comprehensive study based on molecular marker and karyotype analyses has provided evidence for the monophyly of the subfamily Myoxocephalinae, which includes the genera Myoxocephalus, Megalocottus, Microcottus, Porocottus, Enophrys and Argyrocottus. In addition, the karyotype of the threadfoot sculpin Argyrocottus zanderi Herzenstein 1892 has been studied for the first time. Marker traits of karyotypes identified 13 species among six cottid genera. As the molecular genetic results confirmed, the subfamily is divided into two groups corresponding to Enophrys and Myoxocephalus. The molecular genetic data did not support the formation of tribes within the subfamily Myoxocephalinae, as proposed earlier based on morphological characters. Moreover, the genera Trichocottus and Taurocottus should be excluded from the Myoxocephalinae. The evolutionary transformations of karyotypes in cottid fish tended towards a reduction in the number of chromosomes and chromosome arms.  相似文献

The karyotypes of 7 species of Psittaciformes new to cytology are described: Cacatua galerita, Calyptorhynchus magnificus and Probosciger aterrimus of the Cacatuidae, and Ara macao, A. ararauna, Amazona viridigenalis and Psittrichas fulgidens of the Psittacidae. For reasons of comparison the karyotype of Melopsittacus undulatus is also described. These karyotypes are compared to 8 psittaciform karyotypes previously recorded. There is a remarkable heterogeneity of karyotypes in the Psittaciformes. Nevertheless, it seems possible to recognize Cacatua, Calyptorhynchus and probably also Probosciger (Cacatuidae) by their karyotypes as a clearly related group. The karyotypes of these cacatuids also bear some resemblance to that of Loriculus (Psittacidae). The psittacid genera Amazona, Ara, Nestor, Melopsittacus, Psittacula, Psittacus and Psittrichas are karyologically heterogeneous, but their karyotypes show certain relationships. The karyotype of Brotogeris is very different from those of other psittacids.  相似文献

Abstract Chaetoseris and Stenoseris are two morphologically close genera from the tribe Cichorieae of the sunflower family and they are endemic in alpine eastern Himalayas to the Hengduan Mountains of SW China. Mitotic chromosome numbers and karyotypes are reported for 12 populations representing eight species of Chaetoseris and two species of Stenoseris from the Hengduan Mountains region. Eight species are new and the other two provide confirmation of previous reference. All Chaetoseris and Stenoseris taxa are diploidy with 2n= 16 and their basic number is tentatively suggested as x= 8. Karyotypes of Chaetoseris and Stenoseris are similar to each other with 2A and 2B for the former and 2A for the latter. Cytological data of chromosomal numbers and karyotypes support a close relationship of the two genera. Currently no polyploids are found for these two genera and it seems that polyploidization has played a minor role in their evolutionary speciation in the Hengduan Mountains region.  相似文献

Background

The New World monkey (Platyrrhini) subfamily Pitheciinae is represented by the genera Pithecia, Chiropotes and Cacajao. In this work we studied the karyotypes of Pithecia irrorata (2n = 48) and Cacajao calvus rubicundus (2n = 45 in males and 2n = 46 in females) by G- and C-banding, NOR staining and chromosome painting using human and Saguinus oedipus whole chromosome probes. The karyotypes of both species were compared with each other and with Chiropotes utahicki (2n = 54) from the literature.  相似文献

We determined the karyotypes of nine species of Lessingianthus, eight of which are here analyzed for the first time. The results include the first chromosome count for L. plantaginoides, which is tetraploid with 2n = 64. All species showed a high proportion of metacentric chromosomes combined with a lower proportion of submetacentric pairs. Only L. coriaceus had a subtelocentric chromosome pair. B chromosomes were observed in L. coriaceus and L. varroniifolius, which were subtelocentric. Differences among the karyotypes of the studied species were small, suggesting that karyotype diversity in the genus evolved by small changes in the structure of chromosomes. Karyotype features appear useful to distinguish Lessingianthus from the closely related genera Chrysolaena and Lepidaploa.  相似文献

The karyotypes of two taxa of genus Leontopithecus(rosalia and chrysomelas) are studied. Their G-, C- and NOR-banding patterns are compared with those of representatives of the genus Saguinus to determine chromosomal similarities and differences between the two genera and thus contribute to explaining phylogenetic relations between the tamarins. Leontopithecus, like the Saguinus, presents 2n = 46, 14 autosomes plus the Y acrocentric and 30 autosomes plus the X biarmed. No chromosomal rearrangement distinguishes the karyotypes of the representatives of genus Leontopithecus or genus Saguinus. The two genera are distinguished from each other by a paracentric inversion and pericentric inversions on at least four pairs of acrocentric autosomes, displacing the NORs of the small short arms in Leontopithecus to the proximal region of the long arms in Saguinus or vice versa. The tamarins are also distinguished by the distribution of noncentromeric constitutive heterochromatin. The data obtained indicate that the two tamarin genera are closely related chromosomally, suggesting that they probably originated from the same ancestral branch. Am. J. Following the study of 28 species of Lepturinae (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) the karyotypes of seven additional Palaearctic and one Nearctic species are established. The 19,X male karyotypes found in genera Stictoleptura (four species), Vadonia and Judolia (one species each) confirm the loss of Y chromosome in Lepturini. The 22,XY male karyotype of Cortodera humeralis is very close to that of some species of Rhagiini (genera Gaurotes, Acmaeops, Dinoptera, all 22,XY) and Grammoptera ruficornis (24,XY) recently reported. We propose that these taxa could form a monophyletic group within Rhagiini. The karyotype of the Nearctic species Desmocerus palliates (23,neoXneoXneoY) is quite different and characterized by the presence of many acrocentric chromosomes and a complex autosome–gonosome translocation. Its particular karyotype is compatible with its present classification within a separate tribe, the Desmocerini.  相似文献

Karyotype attributes and heterochromatin distribution were used to characterize fourteen taxa of the subtribeLimodorinae (Orchidaceae). The karyotypes were established using morphometrical parameters following Feulgen staining and C-banding. No significant differences in heterochromatin content were found between specimens collected from various sites. Four species of theEpipactis helleborine group possess some chromosome pairs with quite similar heterochromatin patterns; some differences were found inE. distans with respect to other species of this group.Epipactis palustris differed significantly from otherEpipactis species in its different karyotype and its numerous terminal C-bands. The largest differences from the other genera were shown inLimodorum as far as karyomorphology and heterochromatin patterns were concerned. C-band distribution indicated similarity among non-homologous chromosomes, supporting a possible palaeo-polyploid origin for theCephalanthera andEpipactis karyotypes.  相似文献

Chromosome numbers and karyotypes are reported for seven species in three genera, of Mexican cycads. Karyotypic analysis of Cycads is made difficult by differential contraction, of their large chromosomes but idiograms are presented. Satellite variation is reported for three species of Ceratozamia. No satellites are reported for the three species of Zamia.  相似文献

The geographical distribution of different karyotypes in Tropical African genera of Hyacinthaceae is studied. In Albuca, Dipcadi, Drimia (including Urginea), and Drimiopsis there seem to be a general trend of increasing level of ploidy and/or basic number. There is also a tendency of increasing karyotype asymmetry from the south towards north and west. Southern Africa is therefore probably a centre of dispersal (and origin?) for these genera. In the subgenus Urophyllon of Ornithogalum the cytological conditions are in accordance with a hypothesis of northern origin and migration via East Africa towards south and west. Several new chromosome numbers are presented.  相似文献

Chromosome numbers and polymorphisms in rainbow trout, Atlantic salmon, and brown trout are described. The karyotypes of these three species are compared with each other and with those of other salmonid fish from the genera Salmo, Salvelinus, and Oncorhynchus. Karyotype evolution from a postulated ancestral tetraploid is discussed.  相似文献

The karyotypes of 20 species of Cantharidae occurring in the British Isles are described and illustrated, 19 of which are hitherto unrecorded. These are Cantharis cryptica Ashe, Cantharis fusca Linnaeus, Cantharis lateralis Linnaeus, Cantharis livida Linnaeus, Cantharis nigra (Degeer), Cantharis nigricans (O. F. Müller), Cantharis pallida Goeze, Cantharis pellucida Fabricius, Cantharis rufa Linnaeus, Cantharis rustica Fallén, Cantharis thoracica (Olivier), Rhagonycha fulva (Scopoli), Rhagonycha lignosa (O. F. Müller), Rhagonycha limbata Thomson, Rhagonycha lutea (O. F. Müller), Rhagonycha testacea (Linnaeus), Silis ruficollis (Fabricius), Malthinus seriepunctatus Kiesenwetter, Malthodes dispar (Germar) and Malthodes minimus (Linnaeus). The main findings were as follows: (1) Cantharis, Rhagonycha and Silis have karyotypes of six pairs of autosomes plus sex chromosomes, which are X0 (male), XX (female). (2) Malthinus and Malthodes differ from the other genera in having only five pairs of autosomes. (3) The chromosome complement of Silis differs from those of the other genera studied in having a variable number of B-chromosomes in individuals from the same population. (4) The karyotypes of the Rhagonycha species show a degree of uniformity in the relative chromosome lengths, centromere positions and C-banding patterns. (5) The karyotypes of the Cantharis species are much more distinct from each other where these characteristics are concerned. (6) Maturation of the gonads takes place in the late larval stage. (7) The segregation of the X chromosome of Cantharis rufa during meiosis is pre-reductional.  相似文献

The karyotypes of 25 species from the scincid genera Egernia, Corucia and Tiliqua have been investigated using C-banding, silver staining of nucleolar organiser regions (NORs) and Hoechst 33258 induced condensation inhibition. At least one member from each of the species groups of Egernia recognised by Storr et al. (1981) was studied. The three genera have very similar conventionally stained karyotypes of 32 chromosomes. Some species show departures from this basic karyotype but these are due to additions of C-band positive material. Silver stained. NOR patterns are variable but most species have a silver staining site on a pair of larger microchromosomes. All specimens studied except one have a proximal C-band on the acrocentric ninth pair, which shows failure to condense following treatment with the fluorochrome Hoechst 33258. Heterogamety was not observed in any species. Mabuya multifasciata, proposed as a relative of the Egernia group, while having 32 chromosomes does not share the C-band marker on pair nine, unique to the Egernia group. Tribolonotus gracilis, sometimes allied with the Egernia group, has 32 chromosomes and a similiar karyotype, but prominent procentric C-bands on all chromosome pairs obscure the detection of the proximal C-band marker on pair nine.  相似文献

The comparative study of the karyotypes of Microcebus (Lemur, Cheirogaleid) and Cebus (Platyrrhini, Ceboid) shows important similarities between nearly all large chromosomes of these two genera. Since a relationship has been previously found between the Karyotypes of Homo and Cebus, a correspondence may be found between many chromosomes of man and those of Lemurs. This study enlarges the filed of comparative cytogenetics at the level of the primate order.  相似文献

Karyotypes of four East and Southeast Asian species of the genus Mabuya and representatives of three arboreal genera considered to be closely related to the genus (Apterygodon, Dasia and Lamprolepis) are examined. Mabuya rugifera and M. rudis possess 2n=32 karyotypes, whereas M. longicaudata lacks one small chromosome pair, which makes its diploid number 30. The karyotype of M. macularia quadrifasciata from southern Thailand differs from any known scincid karyotypes, including a previously reported karyotype of the conspecific Indian population, in exhibiting a high diploid number (38) and a gradual change in size from large to small chromosomes. This suggests that M. macularia may consist of more than one biological species. Karyotypes of Apterygodon vittatus, Dasia olivacea and Lamprolepis smaragdinus, while exhibiting a close similarity to most Mabuya karyotypes, suggest the occurrence of slight rearrangements involving either the deletion of two small chromosome pairs (A. vittatus), or the change of centromeric positions in medium and small chromosomes (D. olivacea and L. smaragdinus).  相似文献

The somatic chromosomes and karyotypes of threeNicotianeae have been studied for the first time. All of them have 2n = 2x = 22 and symmetrical karyotypes.Benthamiella pycnophylloides has 9 m pairs + 1 sm pair + 1 st pair; pairs 2, 4, 5, and 11 bear microsatellites.Combera paradoxa andPantacantha ameghinoi have 9 m pairs + 2 sm pairs; pair 11 ofC. paradoxa is satellited, while pair 9 ofP. ameghinoi bears microsatellites and shows a pericentric inversion in heterozygous state in 20% of the seedlings. Results are compared with previous chromosome reports for the tribe. The cytological data support their present position in the family system. Besides,Benthamiella, Combera andPantacantha appear to be primitive genera ofNicotianeae, a comparatively advanced tribe within the family.Chromosome studies onNicotianeae (Solanaceae) 1.  相似文献
