Pavlov's concept of conditioned reflexes and Ukhtomskii theory of dominanta fall within the biological line in physiology. They unravel the integral adaptive and active nature of the organism behavior in the environment. It is impossible to develop modern concepts about the determinants of goal-directed behavior of animals and voluntary activity of humans without in-depth study of the achievements of these Russian physiological schools which not only formed the methodological basis for the current studies but also directed the way for their further development.  相似文献

In non-Western and premodern societies, approaches to sickness involved moral considerations laden with existential and spiritual implications. Healers and physicians had access to this aspect of their patient's lives, were expected to use it constructively, and often did so. The contemporary biomedical theory of disease no longer assigns to illness such metaphysical connotations. While general physicians are permitted - perhaps even advised - to avoid involvement in morally laden dialogues tied to illness and the self, such dilemmas are more prominent and qualitatively different in psychiatry, as psychiatric conditions often entail changes in self-conception, psychological disaffection, unacceptable behavior, and untoward personal reactions to social circumstances. Manifestations of psychiatric conditions can overwhelm an individual's control in areas of cognition, emotion, autonomy, social responsibility, behavior, and body functions - exactly those matters that "modern" individualistic minds are supposed to master. Consequently, psychiatric conditions challenge basic presuppositions of the modern, secular credo about personhood, disease, and behavior. They comprise a species of human problems ontologically distinct from the conditions handled by other medical disciplines.  相似文献

Axiomatization is a trend in science to settle and reduce fundamental assertions, from which all the others are deducible. Classical genetics has been extensively axiomatized and formalized by Woodger (1952), who resorted to 53 axioms and 12 theorems. The molecular settlement of modern genetics provides the basis for a different axiomatic theory. In this paper 3 axioms and 14 theorems are informally expressed. They cover a few elementary laws of "chromosome genetics" in Eukaryotes. The biological problems connected with the further development of this first attempt are discussed.  相似文献

Darwin believed that his theory of evolution would stand or fall on its ability to account for human behavior. No species could be an exception to his theory without imperiling the whole edifice. The ideas in the Descent of Man were widely discussed by his contemporaries although they were far from being the only evolutionary theories current in the late nineteenth century. Darwin's specific evolutionary ideas and those of his main followers had very little impact on the social sciences as they emerged as separate disciplines in the early Twentieth Century. Not until the late twentieth century were concerted, sophisticated efforts made to apply Darwinian theory to human behavior. Why such a long delay? We argue that Darwin's theory was rather modern in respects that conflicted with Victorian sensibilities and that he and his few close followers failed to influence any of the social sciences. The late Twentieth Century work takes up almost exactly where James Baldwin left off at the turn of the century.  相似文献

SYNOPSIS: Reductionism has become the object of a great dealof criticism from a variety of quarters within evolutionarybiology in recent years. Many contemporary anti-reductionistsargue that reductionism is inappropriate in biological inquirygiven the prevalence of hierarchies, scales of complexity andlevels of organization in the organic world. They further contendthat a commitment to reductionism has led evolutionary theoriststo make a large number of methodological blunders and conceptualerrors in constructing explanations of biological evolution. The contemporary critics of reductionism have not made a persuasivecase for the ontological peculiarity of the organic world. Muchof their argument concerning hierarchy and levels appears torest on assertion rather than metaphysical necessity or ontologicalpeculiarity. Moreover, the interpretations of reductionism attackedby contemporary critics in biology are narrow and overly simplistic. The modern synthetic theory of evolution may well have explanatoryinadequacies that demand the attention of biologists workingin many fields. But attempts to motivate theoretical alternativesto this theory based solely on ontological grounds appear toplace the ontological cart before the theoretical horse. Theoriesdictate ontological commitments and, as a result, it is at thelevel of theoretical rather than ontological adequacy that theassessment of the modern synthetic theory ought to proceed.  相似文献

The modern theory of lipid membrane structure incorporates the concept of lateral stress profile. The latter represents the forces that act on any solute inside the membrane. We used this concept to propose two lipid probes that introduce minimal distortions into the lipid bilayer packing: the surface pressure isotherms and volt-potentials of the pure and mixed (probe-containing) lipid monolayers are equal. The probes represent a FRET pair. They are applicable in lipid transfer and vesicle fusion experiments.  相似文献

Selection clearly focuses on differences in reproduction, but studies of reproductive physiology generally have been carried out in a near vacuum of modern evolutionary theory. This lack of contact between the two fields may be about to change. New ideas indicate that sexual selection by cryptic female choice has affected the evolution of products in male semen that influence female reproductive behavior and physiology.  相似文献

尽管现代狩猎有别于传统狩猎,但仍是一个备受争议的话题.国际上有大量学者从生态学、行为学、遗传学、经济学等角度研究狩猎对野生动物的影响.本文综合国内外文献,综述了狩猎在种群动态、行为、基因及表型方面可能对野生动物产生的影响.研究表明: 规范管理下的适当狩猎是管理野生动物种群的有效方式,有利于野外种群数量的恢复甚至增加.但过度或不当的狩猎会影响野生动物种群性比、出生率和死亡率,改变动物觅食行为及社群空间行为,对动物基因及表型产生人工选择.国际上很多国家已成功开展适当的狩猎活动,而我国要想在野生动物管理中科学应用狩猎,应基于生态学、经济学理论,参考国际上的成功案例,科学制定狩猎限额,加强狩猎监督管理,兼顾生态保护与经济发展.  相似文献

The comparative analysis of scientific heritage of Richard Goldschmidt and Julian Huxley shows convincingly the resemblance of these two scientists' views over the core problems of evolutionary theory, genetics and development biology. They both contributed to developing a triad "genetics--development--evolution". The problem of a relative growth of animals was the central point in both Goldschmidt's and Huxley's works. Huxley developed a formula of the allometric growth (law of constant differential growth) while Goldschmidt was the first to draw up the broad interpretation of the consequences of that phenomenon. Both scientists belonged to initiators of development genetics and used the "non-morganian" genetics in their efforts of solving problems of macroevolution. Goldschmidt tended toward an idea of an important role of macromutation in the process of macroevolution, though Huxley adhered to more moderate views. But at the same time the concept of preadaptive mutations proposed by Huxley was close to Goldschmidt's idea of macromutants. It is shown that both scientists analyzed profoundly the changes in early stages of embryogenesis in respect to macroevolution. It is not likely to be reasonable to oppose firmly Goldschmidt's saltationism to the evolutionary synthesis of Huxley. They developed the larger biological problems in a similar way, and undoubtedly their works in the field helped to enrich the development of the views over genetics and evolution. The open-minded analysis of Goldschmidt's and Huxley's concepts leads to creating modern and up-to-date views over the theory of evolution where seemingly incompatible things go together rather well and supplement each other. The paper is devoted to A.S. Serebrovski?'s studies on induced mutagenesis. His first publication on X-ray induction of mutations in Drosophila appeared in 1928; this became a classical work and entered the golden fund of modern radiation genetics. Investigations of the scientists in the A.S. Serebrovski?'s laboratory as will as his own works on the analysis of radiation mutations at the achaete-scute complex have led to the development of the teaching about gene subdivision and made it possible to draw up a linear array of a gene from elementary subgenes, which have laid down the foundations of the modern molecular-genetic theory of gene.  相似文献

解剖学意义上的现代人及其行为的演化与扩散是古人类学和旧石器考古学关注的重大科学问题。本文对水洞沟第2地点生态、技术、经济社会组织和象征行为方面的行为特征进行分析,于不同的文化层揭示出了不同的创新行为,它们分别预示了不同的演化意义。距今4~2万年间中国北方连续发展的石片石器技术系统从人类行为角度支持中国古人类连续演化的假说,在此理论背景下,探求中国古人类的行为创新需要关注人类行为的演化历程,进而总结创新表现,而非将总结自欧非等地区的现代行为清单与中国的考古学材料简单比对,进而讨论行为的现代与否。现代人出现后中国古人类行为的特殊性和多样性,促使研究者更多地关注行为变异性及不同适应策略产生的原因,而非将一系列的特征总称为现代行为;同时提醒学者们不应以总结自旧大陆西部的现代行为清单衡量和定性中国乃至东亚旧石器时代晚期人群的生物学属性和社会行为能力。  相似文献

Of the two generally recognized processes through which learning occurs--imprinting and conditioning--only the latter with its two paradigms, classical and operant, has both practical and heuristic implications for disease. From the classical conditioning experiments of Pavlov's laboratory over 100 years ago to the later work in operant conditioning by Skinner and others in the past four decades has evolved much of the basis of modern learning theory and its applications to disease in the form of behavior therapy. Variants of behavior therapy have been employed in the treatment of wide variety of medical and psychiatric illnesses. Recent developments in the study of brain function and biochemistry have led to renewed interest in the conditioning paradigm and its value as tool in these areas of research.  相似文献

The cognitive rhetoricians have introduced the idea of cognitive domains into literary theory, but they have not yet developed a model for a comprehensive, species-typical structure of human motives. Evolutionary psychology can provide this model. Elemental human motives and basic emotions provide the deep structure of literary representations, and this deep structure serves to organize the particularities of circumstance and individual identity. Personal power and reproductive success are governing purposes in life and in literary representations. The concept of individual identity is necessary to literary representation, and a theory of literature based in evolutionary psychology has to incorporate models of personality. Literature and its oral antecedents organize experience in personally meaningful ways. They provide models of behavior and help regulate the complex cognitive machinery through which humans negotiate their social and cultural environments.  相似文献

The size and nature of data collected on gene and protein interactions has led to a rapid growth of interest in graph theory and modern techniques for describing, characterizing and comparing networks. Simultaneously, this is a field of growth within mathematics and theoretical physics, where the global properties, and emergent behavior of networks, as a function of the local properties has long been studied. In this review, a number of approaches for exploiting modern network theory to help describe and analyze different data sets and problems associated with proteomic data are considered. Ivan Solomonovich Beritashvili (Beritov) is one of the great Russian physiologists who have created the Russian route of the modern science of behavior. He has proposed and experimentally substantiated a concept of psychoneural activity according to which the behavior controlled by images is the main and higher form of the behavior of vertebrates. Behaviors on the basis of conditioned reflexes and images are qualitatively different activities underlain by different neural substrates. Recently, the Beritashvili's principle ideas have been confirmed by multiple experimental studies of the animal and human cognitive behavior. At present, the concept of the procedural memory formed by training and acquisition and episodic memory formed on the basis of images is commonly accepted. The episodic memory stores the environmental events and phenomena perceived by an animal or a human. Each time when the image is reproduced during perception of environment or its part, an animal performs the same behavioral act as during the actual perception. Beritashvili's viewpoint that the procedural and declarative memories are controlled by different brain structures has been confirmed by experiments.  相似文献

Catania (2005) found that a computational model of the operant reserve (Skinner, 1938) produced realistic behavior in initial, exploratory analyses. Although Catania's operant reserve computational model demonstrated potential to simulate varied behavioral phenomena, the model was not systematically tested. The current project replicated and extended the Catania model, clarified its capabilities through systematic testing, and determined the extent to which it produces behavior corresponding to matching theory. Significant departures from both classic and modern matching theory were found in behavior generated by the model across all conditions. The results suggest that a simple, dynamic operant model of the reflex reserve does not simulate realistic steady state behavior.  相似文献

Because humans are the product of our evolutionary past, learning how we evolved is fundamental to all anthropological investigations. We now realize that reconstructing why unique human attributes evolved requires an understanding of our starting point, but this is a relatively recent perspective. One hundred years ago, the question of human origins was identical to that of hominin origins. Accepting Australopithecus into human ancestry, coupled with the modern synthesis of evolution, led anthropologists to consider humans as products of natural selection. They realized that increased intelligence did not initially distinguish our lineage, and that early hominins were apelike in many ways. Australopithecus brought bipedalityr and brain expansion came with Homo . Because the human mind and behavior are products of evolution, we must reconstruct the selective pressures that shaped our lineage in order to understand ourselves today.
