Reported herein are studies of the concentration and temperature dependent interactions with DNA of the stereochemically defined mixed-metal supramolecular complexes, [(tpy)Ru(tppz)PtCl](PF6)3 and [ClPt(tppz)Ru(tppz)PtCl](PF6)4 (tpy = 2,2′:6′,2′′-terpyridine and tppz = 2,3,5,6-tetrakis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine). These metal complexes couple a ruthenium based light absorber (LA) to the bioactive platinum sites (BAS) using a tridentate bridging ligand (BL). The complexes exhibit intense Ru → tppz(π∗) metal to ligand charge transfer (MLCT) transitions in the visible region and adopt a square planar geometry around the Pt(II) center. The effect of incubating these metal complexes with DNA on the subsequent migration of DNA through an agarose gel was found to be more dramatic than that observed for the well known anticancer drug, cis-[Pt(NH3)2Cl2] (cisplatin). This effect was enhanced with increased incubation temperature. Unwinding of supercoiled plasmid DNA was found to be more pronounced for the trimetallic complex, [ClPt(tppz)Ru(tppz)PtCl](PF6)4, than for the bimetallic complex, [(tpy)Ru(tppz)PtCl](PF6)3.  相似文献

Ruthenium phosphine complexes with a CO ligand [Ru(tpy)(PR3)(CO)Cl]+ (tpy = 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine, R = Ph or p-tolyl), were prepared by introduction of CO gas to the corresponding dichloro complexes at room temperature. New carbonyl complexes were characterized by various methods including structural analyses. They were shown to release CO following the addition of several N-donors to form the corresponding substituted complexes. The kinetic data and structural results observed in this study indicated that the CO release reactions proceeded in an interchange mechanism. The molecular structures of [Ru(tpy)(PPh3)(CO)Cl]PF6, [Ru(tpy)(P(p-tolyl)3)(CO)Cl]PF6 and [Ru(tpy)(PPh3)(CH3CN)Cl]PF6 were determined by X-ray crystallography.  相似文献

Supramolecular complexes consisting of ruthenium chromophores and a cisplatin unit represent an emerging class of bioactive molecules of interest as anti-cancer agents. Although the ability of Ru(II)/Pt(II) heteronuclear complexes to bind to DNA has been demonstrated, the in vivo activity of these complexes has not yet been reported. In the present work, we report the anti-bacterial activity of the complex [(tpy)RuCl(dpp)PtCl(2)](PF(6)) (where dpp=2,3-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine, tpy=2,2':6',2'-terpyridine). The impact on bacterial cell growth of exposure to different concentrations of [(tpy)RuCl(dpp)PtCl(2)](PF(6)) and cisplatin was studied. The bioactivity of this complex was found to be due to the presence of the cis-PtCl(2) moiety, as the monometallic synthon [(tpy)RuCl(dpp)](PF(6)) did not inhibit bacterial cell growth.  相似文献

Two new heterobimetallic complexes of rhenium(I) and ruthenium(II) [(CO)3(NN)Re(4,4′-bpy)Ru(NN)2Cl](PF6)2 and already known monometallic complexes [Cl(NN)2Ru(4,4′-bpy)](PF6) and [(CO)3(NN)Re(4,4′-bpy)](PF6) and bimetallic complexes [Cl(NN)2Ru(4,4′-bpy)Ru(NN)2Cl](PF6)2, [(CO)3(NN)Re(4,4′-bpy)Re(NN)(CO)3](PF6)2 (NN = 2,2′-bipyridine, 1,10-phenanthroline; 4,4′-bpy = 4,4′-bipyridine) are synthesized and characterized by spectral techniques. The photophysical properties of all the complexes are studied. It is found that attachment of rhenium(I) altered the photophysical characteristics of ruthenium(II). Excited state energy transfer from the rhenium(I) chromophore to the ruthenium(II) is observed upon excitation at 355 nm.  相似文献

Three new five-coordinate CuII complexes, [Cu(tpy)(phen-dione)](PF6)2, [Cu(phen)(phen-dione)Cl]PF6 and [Cu(bpy)(phen-dione)Cl]PF6 (tpy = 2,2′;6′,2″-terpyridine, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline and phen-dione = 1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and UV-Vis spectroscopies and cyclic voltammetry. The complex of [Cu(tpy)(phen-dione)](PF6)2 crystallized with one molecule of acetonitrile. The ortep drawing of [Cu(tpy)(phen-dione)](PF6)2 · CH3CN shows that the coordination geometry around CuII is a distorted trigonal- bipyramid. Due to the steric hindrance of in the unit cell, the tpy ligands in each complex cation cannot interact in a π-π fashion. The effective magnetic moment (μeff) of the complexes was measured by the Evans method. The cyclic voltammograms at Pt disk electrode for these complexes display only one reversible Cu(II)/Cu(I) redox couple.  相似文献

New Os(II) complexes including [Os(dpop′)2](PF6)2 (dpop′= dipyrido(2,3-a;3′,2′-j)phenazine) and a series of mixed ligand [Os(dpop′)(N-N)Cl]PF6 (N-N = 2,2′-bipyridine(bpy); 2,2′-bipyrimidine(bpm) and 2,3-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine(dpp)) were synthesized. The Os dπ → dpop′ π MLCT transitions for [Os(dpop′)2]2+ are observed at lower energy than for Os dπ → tpy π (tpy = 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine) and Os dπ → tppz π (tppz = 2,3,5,6-tetrakis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine) (The ligand abbreviations tpd, tpp and tpypz have also appeared in the literature for 2,3,5,6- tetrakis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine in addition to tppz.) MLCT transitions in the comparative [Os(tpy)2]2+ and [Os(tppz)2]2+ complexes. The Os dπ → dpop′ π MLCT transitions are observed at lower energy in mixed bidentate ligand N-N systems compared with [Os(dpop′)2]2+. Cyclic voltammetry shows more positive osmium oxidation, and less negative ligand reduction potentials for [Os(dpop′)2]2+ as compared to [Os(tpy)2]2+ and [Os(tppz)2]2+ complexes. The osmium oxidation potentials in mixed ligand [Os(dpop′)(N-N)Cl]+ complexes are at less positive potential than for the [Os(dpop′)2]2+ ion. NMR results show different chemical shifts for ring protons either trans or cis to dpop′ in mixed ligand systems, and also show two geometrical isomers for the [Os(dpop′)(dpp)Cl]+ complex. The [Os(dpop′)(dpp)Cl]+ geometric isomer with the pyrazine ring of dpp trans to dpop′ is found more predominate by 1.0/0.7 over the isomer with the pyrazine ring of dpp cis to dpop′ and that inter-conversion of geometric isomers does not occur in room temperature solution on the NMR timescale.  相似文献

A series of iridium(III) bis-terpyridine complexes have been prepared which incorporate pendent pyridyl groups at the 4′-positions of one or both of the terpyridine (tpy) ligands. These include: three mutually isomeric homoleptic complexes, in which the nitrogen atom of the pendent pyridyl is para, meta or ortho to the C-C bond to the terpyridine; their heteroleptic analogues in which the second ligand is 4′-tolyl-terpyridine (ttpy); analogous complexes of the new ligand, 4′-(2,6-dimethylpyrid-4-yl)-terpyridine; and related complexes incorporating an additional phenyl ring interposed between the terpyridine and the pendent pyridyl group. All of the complexes are luminescent in air-equilibrated aqueous solution at room temperature. The homoleptic complexes display structured emission resembling that of unsubstituted [Ir(tpy)2]3+, with luminescence lifetimes of around 1 μs under these conditions. The heteroleptic analogues give broader, red-shifted emission spectra, similar to that of [Ir(ttpy)2]3+, indicating that emission in these complexes arises primarily from a lower-energy excited state associated with the 4′-tolyl-terpyridine ligand. A further red-shift for the complexes incorporating the additional phenyl ring suggests that the emissive state involves the more conjugated phenylpyridyl-appended ligand in these cases. The luminescence of all of the heteroleptic complexes investigated, except the meta-substituted system, is sensitive to the protonation state of the pendent pyridyl group, and the structure of the ligand can have a significant influence on both the magnitude of the response and the pH region over which it occurs.  相似文献

Reactions of 2-(arylazo)aniline, HL [H represents the dissociable protons upon orthometallation and HL is p-RC6H4N = NC6H4-NH2; R = H for HL1; CH3 for HL2 and Cl for HL3] with Ru(R1-tpy)Cl3 (where R1-tpy is 4′-(R1)-2,2′,6′′,2′′-terpyridine and R1 = H or 4-N,N-dimethylaminophenyl or 4-methylphenyl) afford a group of complexes of type [Ru(L)(R1-tpy)]·ClO4 each of which contains C,N,N coordinated L as a tridentate ligand along with a terpyridine. Structure of one such complex has been determined by X-ray crystallography. All the Ru(II) complexes are diamagnetic, display characteristic 1H NMR signals and intense dπ(RuII) → π∗(tpy) MLCT transitions in the visible region. Cyclic voltammetric studies on [Ru(L)(R1-tpy)]·ClO4 complexes show Ru(II)-Ru(III) oxidation within 0.63-0.67 V versus SCE.  相似文献

We report here the synthesis, characterisation, electrochemical, photophysical and protein-binding properties of four luminescent ruthenium(II) polypyridine indole complexes [Ru(bpy)2(L1)](PF6)2 (1), [Ru(bpy)2(L2)](PF6)2 (2), [Ru(L1)3](PF6)2 (1a), and [Ru(L2)3](PF6)2 (2a) (bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine; L1 = 4-(N-(2-indol-3-ylethyl)amido)-4′-methyl-2,2′-bipyridine; L2 = 4-(N-(6-N-(2-indol-3-ylethyl)hexanamidyl)amido)-4′-methyl-2,2′-bipyridine). Their indole-free counterparts, [Ru(bpy)2(L3)](PF6)2 (3) and [Ru(L3)3](PF6)2 (3a) (L3 = 4-(N-(ethyl)amido)-4′-methyl-2,2′-bipyridine), have also been synthesised for comparison purposes. Cyclic voltammetric studies revealed ruthenium-based oxidation at ca. +1.3 V versus SCE and diimine-based reductions at ca. −1.20 to −2.28 V. The indole moieties of complexes 1, 2, 1a and 2a displayed an irreversible wave at ca. +1.1 V versus SCE. All the ruthenium(II) complexes exhibited intense and long-lived orange-red triplet metal-to-ligand charge-transfer 3MLCT (dπ(Ru) → π*(L1-L3)) luminescence upon visible-light irradiation in fluid solutions at 298 K and in alcohol glass at 77 K. The binding of the indole-containing complexes to bovine serum album (BSA) has been studied by quenching experiments and emission titrations.  相似文献

A series of mononuclear acetonitrile complexes of the type [Ru(CH3CN)(L)(terpy)]2+ {L = phen (1), dpbpy (3), and bpm (5)}, and their reference complexes [RuCl(L)(terpy)]+ {L = phen (2), dpbpy (4), and dpphen (6)} were prepared and characterized by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, UV-vis spectroscopy, and cyclic voltammograms (CV). Abbreviations of the ligands (Ls) are phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, dpbpy = 4,4′-diphenyl-2,2′-bipyridine, bpm = 2,2′-bipyrimidine, dpphen = 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline, bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine, and terpy = 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine. The X-ray structures of the two complexes 2 and 3 were newly obtained. The metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) bands in the visible region for 1, 3, and 5 in acetonitrile were blue shifted relative to those of the reference complexes [RuCl(L)(terpy)]+. CV for all the [Ru(CH3CN)(L)(terpy)]2+ complexes showed the first oxidation wave at around 0.95 V, being more positive than those of [RuCl(L)(terpy)]+. The time-dependent-density-functional-theory approach (TDDFT) was used to interpret the absorption spectra of 1 and 2. Good agreement between computed and experimental absorption spectra was obtained. The DFT approach also revealed the orbital interactions between Ru(phen)(terpy) and CH3CN or Cl. It is demonstrated that the HOMO-LUMO energy gap of the acetonitrile ligand is larger than that of the Cl one.  相似文献

Reaction of [Ru(2,2′-bipyridine)(2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine)Cl]PF6 (abbreviated to [Ru(bipy)(terpy)Cl]PF6) with 0.5 equiv of the bidentate ligand L produces the dinuclear complexes [{Ru(bipy)(terpy)}2(μ-L)](PF6)4 (L = 4,4′-bipyridine 1, 1,4-diisocyanobenzene 2 and pyrazine 3) in moderate yields. Treating [Ru(bipy)(terpy)Cl]PF6 with equal molar of 1,4-diisocyanobenzene affords [Ru(bipy)(terpy)(CNC6H4NC)](PF6)2 (2a). These new complexes have been characterized by mass, NMR, and UV-Vis spectroscopy, and the structures of 1-3 determined by an X-ray diffraction study. Cyclic voltammetric studies suggest that metal communication between the two ruthenium ions increases from 1 to 2 to 3.  相似文献

Several new mononuclear and dinuclear ruthenium(II) complexes - incorporating 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine and acetylacetonate as ancillary ligands and phenylcyanamide derivative ligands - of the type [Ru(tpy)(acac)(L)] and [{Ru(tpy)(acac)}2(μ-L′)] (where tpy = 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine, acac = acetylacetonate, L = hmbpcyd = 4-(3-hydroxy-3-methylbutynyl)phenylcyanamide anion (2) and epcyd = 4-ethynylphenylcyanamide anion (3) and L′ = bcpda = bis(4-cyanamidophenyl)diacetylene dianion (4) and bcpea = 9,10-bis(4-cyanamidophenylethynyl)anthracene dianion (5)) were synthesized in a stepwise manner starting from [Ru(tpy)(acac)(Ipcyd)] (1), where Ipcyd = 4-iodophenylcyanamide anion. Tetraphenylarsonium salts of the phenylcyanamide derivative ligands were also prepared. The four complexes have been characterized by UV-Vis, IR, ES-MS, electrochemistry and 1H NMR. Mononuclear complexes 2 and 3 were further characterized by 13C NMR. The single crystal X-ray structure of 2 was determined, it crystallized with one molecule of water with empirical formula of C32H31N5O5Ru, in a monoclinic crystal system and space group of P21/n with a = 17.642(5) Å, b = 9.634(2) Å, c = 20.063(7) Å, β = 92.65(3)°, V = 3406(2) Å3 and Z = 4. The structure was refined to a final R factor of 0.040. The Ru(III/II) couple of 1-3 appeared around 0.34 V versus the saturated calomel electrode in dimethylformamide and at a slightly higher potential, around 0.36-0.37 V for 4 and 5. Spectroelectrochemical studies were also performed for 4 and 5, no intervalence transition was observed despite all attempts.  相似文献

Two new ruthenium complexes [Ru(bpy)2(mitatp)](ClO4)21 and [Ru(bpy)2(nitatp)](ClO4)22 (bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine, mitatp = 5-methoxy-isatino[1,2-b]-1,4,8,9-tetraazatriphenylene, nitatp = 5-nitro-isatino[1,2-b]-1,4,8,9-tetraazatriphenylene) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, 1H NMR, mass spectrometry and cyclic voltammetry. Spectroscopic and viscosity measurements proved that the two Ru(II) complexes intercalate DNA with larger binding constants than that of [Ru(bpy)2(dppz)]2+ (dppz = dipyrido[3,2-a:2′,3′-c]phenazine) and possess the excited lifetime of microsecond scale upon binding to DNA. Both complexes can efficiently photocleave pBR322 DNA in vitro under irradiation. Singlet oxygen (1O2) was proved to contribute to the DNA photocleavage process, the 1O2 quantum yields was determined to be 0.43 and 0.36 for 1 and 2, respectively. Moreover, a photoinduced electron transfer mechanism was also found to be involved in the DNA cleavage process.  相似文献

Three new complexes [Pt(dpop)(Cl)2], [(Cl)2Pt(dpop)Pt(Cl)2] and [(bpy)2Ru(dpop)Pt(Cl)2](PF6)2 (dpop = dipyrido(2,3-a:3′,2′-h)phenazine) were prepared and studied. The electronic absorption spectra of the complexes display Pt dπ → dpop π* and Ru dπ → dpop π* MLCT transitions at longer wavelengths than for previously reported similar complexes. Results of cyclic voltammograms show reversible dpop centered reductions while for the mixed metal [(bpy)2Ru(dpop)Pt(Cl)2]2+ an irreversible Pt(II) oxidative wave precedes the Ru(II) oxidation/reduction couple. Spectroelectrochemical results show that all oxidative and reductive processes are completely reversible. The [(Cl)2Pt(dpop)Pt(Cl)2] complex cleaves in solution with pseudo-first order kinetics resulting in loss of the Pt dπ → dpop π* MLCT transition at 545 nm.  相似文献

Two new mononuclear mixed-ligand ruthenium(II) complexes with acetylacetonate ion (2,4-pentanedionate, acac) and functionalized bipyridine (bpy) in position 4, [Ru(bpyBr)2(acac)](PF6) (2; bpyBr = 4-Bromo-2,2′-bipyridine, acac = 2,4-pentanedionate ion) and [Ru(bpyOH)2(acac)](PF6) (3; bpyOH = 4-[2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ol]-2,2′-bipyridine) were prepared as candidates for building blocks. The 1H NMR, 13C NMR, UV-Vis, electrochemistry and FAB mass spectral data of these complexes are presented.  相似文献

The complexes [(bpy)2Ru(dpp)]Cl2, [(phen)2Ru(dpp)]Cl2, and [(Ph2phen)2Ru(dpp)]Cl2 (where dpp = 2,3-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine, bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, Ph2phen = 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline) have been investigated and found to photocleave DNA via an oxygen-mediated pathway. These light absorbing complexes possess intense metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) transitions in the visible region of the spectrum. The [(TL)2Ru(dpp)]2+ systems populate 3MLCT states after visible light excitation, giving rise to emissions in aqueous solution centered at 692, 690, and 698 nm for TL = bpy, phen, and Ph2phen respectively. The 3MLCT states and emissions are quenched by O2, producing a reactive oxygen species. These complexes photocleave DNA with varying efficiencies, [(Ph2phen)2Ru(dpp)]2+ > [(phen)2Ru(dpp)]2+ > [(bpy)2Ru(dpp)]2+. The presence of the polyazine bridging ligand will allow these chromophores to be incorporated into larger supramolecular assemblies.  相似文献

The synthesis, electrochemistry, spectroscopy and electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) of five bis-bipyridine ruthenium(II) complexes containing acetylacetonate complexes are reported. More specifically, (bpy)2Ru(BA)2(PF6) (bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine; BA = benzoylacetonate), (bpy)2Ru(TTFA)(PF6) (TTFA =  thenoyltrifluoroacetonate), (bpy)2Ru(TFPB)(PF6) (TFPB = 4,4,4-trifluoro-1-phenyl-1,3-butanedionate), (bpy)2Ru(TFPD)(PF6) (TFPD =  1,1,1-trifluoro-2-4-pentanedionate), and (bpy)2Ru(DBM)(PF6) (DBM = dibenzoylmethide) display UV-Vis, photoluminescence, electrochemical and ECL properties characteristic of ruthenium bipyridyl complexes. All complexes display absorptions in the UV and visible regions of the spectra, with visible absorptions ranging from 350 to 700 nm, typical of metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) transitions. Photoluminescence emission maxima are also characteristic of MLCT transitions with wavelength maxima from 575 to 600 nm depending on the nature of the acetylacetonate ligand. ECL efficiencies for the complexes (?ecl ∼ 0.013-0.051) are much lower than a standard (?ecl = 1) with electron-withdrawing substituents resulting in lower efficiencies.  相似文献

Reaction of cis-Ru(bisox)2Cl2, where bisox is 4,4,4′,4′-tetramethyl-2,2′-bisoxazoline, with excess of pyridine-2-carboxaldehyde (py-2-al) in 1:1 (v/v) methanol-water mixture under nitrogen atmosphere and subsequent addition of excess of NH4PF6 give [Ru(bisox)2(py-2-al)](PF6)2 · H2O (1). Refluxing of 1 in dehydrated methanol in presence of triethylamine yields the corresponding hemiacetalate complex: [Ru(bisox)2 (pyridine-2-(α-methoxymethanolato))]PF6 · 1.5H2O (2). Both the complexes have been characterised by single crystal X-ray crystallography, FTIR and NMR. In cyclic voltammetry in acetonitrile at a glassy carbon electrode, 2 displays a quasireversible Ru(II/III) couple at 1.08 V versus NHE which is not observed in 1. A tentative mechanism is proposed for the conversion of 1 to 2. DFT calculations with the LanL2DZ basis set have been performed to investigate these observations theoretically.  相似文献

A series of heteroleptic bisphthalocyaninates [(15C5)4Pc]M(Pc) ((15C5)4Pc = 2,3,9,10,16,17,24,25-tetrakis(15-crown-5)phthalocyaninate; Pc = unsubstituted phthalocyaninate; M = La, Sm, Dy, Tm) was synthesized. The raise-by-one-story method was applied in the cases of Sm, Dy and Tm complexes, whereas for the La complex we have developed a new synthetic approach. The complex [(15C5)4Pc]La(Pc) is the first representative of heteroleptic lanthanum diphthalocyaninates. Homoleptic counterparts M[(15C5)4Pc]2 and M(Pc)2, M = La, Sm, Dy, Tm have also been prepared for comparative studies. The UV-Vis spectral properties of all synthesized heteroleptic compounds were investigated and compared to those of the homoleptic unsubstituted and crown-substituted diphthalocyaninates. Cation-induced dimerisation of heteroleptic complexes was studied. The observed spectral effects were explained in terms of excitonic coupling between chromophoric molecules. The unsymmetrical distribution of electronic density over macrocyclic ligands is established.  相似文献

Heteroleptic complexes [Ru(bpy)2(R2bpm)]2+, where bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine and R2bpm = 6,6′-diaryl-4,4′-bipyrimidine, have been synthesized and characterized, together with the homoleptic complex [Ru(R2bpm)3]2+, in which R2bpm = 6,6′-diphenyl-4,4′-bipyrimidine. The substituent aryl on the bipyrimidine has significant effects on the properties of these complexes as compared to the parent [Ru(bpy)2(bpm)]2+ complex. The complexes exhibit Ru-to-bpm charge transfer (CT) absorptions centered at about 540 nm and Ru-to-bpy CT absorptions centered at about 435 nm. The assignment of the low energy absorptions is supported by the relative ease of the reduction of the new complexes as compared to [Ru(bpy)3]2+. The new complexes exhibit a relatively intense emission at room temperature, with lifetimes in the 10-50 ns range, with the homoleptic species exhibiting the higher-energy (maximum at 724 nm) and the longest-lived (τ = 48 ns) emission among the complexes. Luminescence lifetimes and quantum yields are governed by the energy gap law, indicating that direct deactivation to the ground state is the dominant relaxation pathway for 1-6, while thermally activated processes are inefficient.  相似文献
