The modern diatom distribution in the Laptev Sea, Arctic Ocean, was investigated in 89 surface sediment samples. Diatom concentrations are relatively low showing values between 0.01×106 and 6.7×106 valves per gram dry sediment. Based on a factor analysis using seventeen taxa or taxa groups five diatom surface sediment assemblages can be defined: the ice diatom assemblage of the central region of the Laptev Sea, the Chaetoceros assemblage of the eastern and southeastern shelf, the Thalassiosira antarctica assemblage of the continental slope and deep sea, the freshwater diatom assemblage in the vicinity of river mouths and deltas, and the Thalassiosira nordenskioeldii assemblage which shows a patchy occurrence on the central Laptev Sea shelf. The distribution pattern of diatom assemblages in surface sediment is significantly related to oceanographic conditions of surface water masses. The main factors controlling the distribution of diatoms in the Laptev Sea are the riverine freshwater input during the summer which strongly affects the salinity conditions, and the sea-ice extent. Furthermore, the composition of the Thalassiosira antarctica assemblage of the continental slope is largely influenced by dissolution and lateral transport processes.  相似文献

Recent ostracod assemblages were investigated from coretop sediment samples collected in the eastern Kara Sea from water depths down to 300 m. A total of 45 species were identified, 27 of them were reported for the Kara Sea for the first time. The Kara Sea data were compared with our results on the distribution of ostracods in the eastern Laptev Sea. The spatial distribution of recent taxa and the ecological groupings demonstrate a clear relation to dominant environmental factors which range from estuarine to full-marine conditions. Four assemblages related to average summer bottom water salinities were established: (1) a freshwater assemblage from the inner estuaries of the Ob' and Yenisei rivers with salinities less than 2 and from thermokarst lagoons of the southern Laptev Sea coast with strong salinization in winter; (2) a brackishwater assemblage of the outer estuaries of the Ob' and Yenisei rivers with salinities up to 26; (3) a mixed euryhaline–marine assemblage dominated by euryhaline species Paracyprideis pseudopunctillata and Heterocyprideis sorbyana from the inner shelf river-affected zone of the Kara and Laptev seas, where salinities range between 26 and 32; (4) a taxonomically diverse marine assemblage dominated by shallow-water marine taxa from the northern parts of the Kara and Laptev shelves and upper continental slope with stable bottom environments and a salinity higher than 32. Abundant euryhaline species found at greater water depths are identified as part of an ice-rafted assemblage. They are possibly entrained into the newly formed fast ice during autumn storms and freeze-up period and then transported to the distal open-sea areas during summer.  相似文献

Bryant and Eastern Canyons are located in northwest Gulf of Mexico, and are characterized by a complex sedimentological history related to glacioeustatic cycles, river discharges, and interactions between depositional and halokinetic processes. This study is based on detailed sedimentological analysis from forty-eight long cores from these two canyons. This paper determines the evolutionary history of the canyons and assesses the response of sedimentary processes to morphological, climatic, hydrological, and sea-level changes.During the last glaciation, the upper and middle continental slope was supplied with sediments by low density turbidity currents derived from the depositional segregation (deposition of the coarsest material in the most proximal locations) of large turbidity currents initiated on the outer shelf. The lower continental slope was supplied with sediment by westward flowing bottom currents, originated from the entrainment of the most diluted wash-load and tails of turbidity currents from the Mississippi Fan.Bryant and Eastern Canyon systems were active during the penultimate glaciation, Marine Isotope Stage (MIS) 6, and were supplied with sediments by an ancestral shelf-margin Mississippi River delta. Gravity flows transported enormous amounts of sediment to the continental slope and abyssal plain of the northwest Gulf of Mexico. The sea-level rise at MIS 5 led to confinement of river-sourced sediments to the widespread continental shelf of the northwest Gulf of Mexico, and consequently to the cessation of gravity flows. During the first 40 kyr of MIS 5, salt diapirs transformed the canyons into a network of intraslope basins.The sea level dropped to the mid-shelf during MIS 3 and 4, but never reached the shelf-break, and therefore, river-sourced sediments remained largely confined to the shelf. However, seaward sediment transportation was achieved occasionally through turbidity currents related to sediment failures, storms, and high-river discharges. Four high river discharge events have been identified during this period. The first three were centred at 37, 45, and 53 cal ka BP. The last high river discharge occurred at the end of MIS 3 (29.4-33.2 cal ka BP), and resulted in the deposition of closely-spaced, mud turbidites over the entire continental slope. The Laurentide Ice Sheet (LIS) was restricted north of the upper Mississippi River valley during 60 to ∼ 30 cal ka BP and therefore, the high river discharge events are interpreted as melt-water events, related to brief southward advancements of the LIS, which resulted in the flooding of Mississippi River. The extensive lowering of sea level during the last glacial maximum (MIS 2) resulted in the almost direct discharge of Mississippi River sediments to the upper continental slope leading to the development of abundant turbidity currents. Eleven wet-dry cycles during this period are defined; they probably originated from episodic subglacial melt-water floods, released from southern parts of the LIS.The last deglaciation event is characterized by the development of a major melt water event at 16.5-13 cal ka BP that resulted in the deposition of distinct, organic-rich sediments. At about 13 cal ka BP, the melt water discharges of the LIS in North America switched from the Mississippi River to either the St. Lawrence or Mackenzie River valleys, causing the domination of hemipelagic sedimentation on the continental slope of the northwest Gulf of Mexico. Isotopic data indicate that melt-water discharges returned to the Mississippi River Valley at ∼ 11.4 cal ka BP. The absence of any sedimentological indication on the continental slope of the northwest Gulf of Mexico of the return of the melt-water discharges to the Mississippi River is attributed to the confinement of river-sourced sediments on the continental shelf due to the rise of the sea level.  相似文献

A new Arctic Ostracode Database-2015 (AOD-2015) provides census data for 96 species of benthic marine Ostracoda from 1340 modern surface sediments from the Arctic Ocean and subarctic seas. Ostracoda is a meiofaunal, Crustacea group that secretes a bivalved calcareous (CaCO3) shell commonly preserved in sediments. Arctic and subarctic ostracode species have ecological limits controlled by temperature, salinity, oxygen, sea ice, food, and other habitat-related factors. Unique species ecology, shell chemistry (Mg/Ca ratios, stable isotopes), and limited stratigraphic ranges make them a useful tool for paleoceanographic reconstructions and biostratigraphy. The database, described here, will facilitate the investigation of modern ostracode biogeography, regional community structure, and ecology. These data, when compared to downcore faunal data from sediment cores, will provide a better understanding of how the Arctic has been affected by climatic and oceanographic change during the Quaternary. Images of all species and biogeographic distribution maps for selected species are presented, with brief discussion of representative species’ biogeographic and ecological significance. Publication of AOD-2015 is open-sourced and will be available online at several public websites with latitude, longitude, water depth, and bottom water temperature for most samples. It includes material from Arctic abyssal plains and submarine ridges, continental slopes, and shelves of the Kara, Laptev, East Siberian, Chukchi, Beaufort Seas, and several subarctic regions.  相似文献

Pelagic fishes are among the most ecologically and economically important fish species in European seas. In principle, these pelagic fishes have potential to demonstrate rapid abundance and distribution shifts in response to climatic variability due to their high adult motility, planktonic larval stages, and low dependence on benthic habitat for food or shelter during their life histories. Here, we provide evidence of substantial climate‐driven changes to the structure of pelagic fish communities in European shelf seas. We investigated the patterns of species‐level change using catch records from 57 870 fisheries‐independent survey trawls from across European continental shelf region between 1965 and 2012. We analysed changes in the distribution and rate of occurrence of the six most common species, and observed a strong subtropicalization of the North Sea and Baltic Sea assemblages. These areas have shifted away from cold‐water assemblages typically characterized by Atlantic herring and European sprat from the 1960s to 1980s, to warmer‐water assemblages including Atlantic mackerel, Atlantic horse mackerel, European pilchard and European anchovy from the 1990s onwards. We next investigated if warming sea temperatures have forced these changes using temporally comprehensive data from the North Sea region. Our models indicated the primary driver of change in these species has been sea surface temperatures in all cases. Together, these analyses highlight how individual species responses have combined to result in a dramatic subtropicalization of the pelagic fish assemblage of the European continental shelf.  相似文献

Orphan Basin is a deep-water basin on the continental margin off Newfoundland, which throughout the late Quaternary received proglacial sediment from local ice that crossed the continental shelf. Sediment from more distant sources was transported southward in the Labrador Current as proglacial plumes and in icebergs. Five sedimentary facies related to glacial processes are distinguished in cores recovered from Orphan Basin: hemipelagic sediment, nepheloid-layer deposits (layered mud), beds rich in ice-rafted detritus (IRD), sand and mud turbidites, and glaciogenic debris-flow deposits. IRD-rich beds correspond to periods of intensified iceberg calving, and layered mud, turbidites, and glaciogenic debris-flow deposits with glacial meltwater discharge.

In the Late Wisconsinan, eight periods of meltwater discharge and iceberg calving from the Newfoundland ice sheet are interpreted from the sediment facies in Orphan Basin. These discharges coincide with the terminations of the colder periods of the D–O cycles recorded in Greenland ice cores. The oldest minor meltwater event (27.5–28.5 cal ka) corresponds to the first Late Wisconsinan ice advance across the Grand Banks and NE Newfoundland Shelf. The following three meltwater discharges (23–23.5, 23.8–24.5, and 25–27 cal ka) deposited sand turbidites and glaciogenic debris-flow deposits seaward of Trinity Trough, which was occupied by an ice stream at this time, and mud turbidites in the southern part of the basin derived from a mid-shelf ice margin on the Grand Banks. Four periods of meltwater discharge occurred during the deglaciation and are centered at 15, 18.5, 19.75, and 20.75 cal ka. The youngest is correlated to Heinrich event 1. In the literature, the 18.5 and 20.75 cal ka events have been recorded in multiple glacial settings in the North Atlantic, and therefore, are interpreted as large-scale events of meltwater discharge and iceberg calving, but in Orphan Basin the 19.75 cal ka event is also of similar scale.  相似文献

云南鹤庆盆地晚第四纪钻孔剖面分析出介形类13属,32种,多为地方性属种,根据介形类丰度,分异度,百分含量及组合分子在剖面中的分布情况,结合剖面同步分析的总有机碳含量(TOC),碳-氮比(C/N),碳酸盐含量,孢粉等数据,并利用已有相关的介形类生态资料,对介形类生态特征进行初步探讨。研究结果表明:温度,矿化度,水流动态,水循环状况,pH值,深度,湖泊流域生产力等环境因素对介形类组合面貌,定量数据,壳饰等特征均有一定影响,其中,介形类丰度,分异度与温度,矿化度关系最为密切。  相似文献

Cretaceous and Cenozoic benthic ostracodes and their species assemblage structure have been analyzed by several different association and distribution form techniques. 425 core samples were obtained by the Deep Sea Drilling Project from 77 sites of the first 14 Legs of its survey of the world ocean floor. These analyses of 80 species from 27 composite planktic-foraminiferal time zones representing the last 75 million years of deep-sea faunal development revealed that a major change took place at about 40X106 BP in Late Eocene or Early Oligocene, marking the time of origin of the present cold, bottom water-mass system (psychrosphere). Prior to this world-wide event another important, but previously unknown, ostracode fauna had been present in a wanner deep sea for at least 25 million years without significant change.  相似文献

Composition and distribution of asteroid and ophiuroid assemblages were investigated by means of Agassiz trawl catches at 34 stations in 220- to 1,200-m depth in the Weddell Sea and at 17 stations in 90- and 830-m depth off Northeast Greenland. A total of 86 species (48 sea stars, 38 brittle stars) were identified in the Weddell Sea whereas off Northeast Greenland a total of 26 species (16 sea stars, 10 brittle stars) were recorded. In both study areas, brittle stars were numerically more important than sea stars, and abundances generally decreased with water depths. Multivariate analyses revealed a conspicuous depth zonation of sea and brittle stars off Greenland. Very high abundances of Ophiocten sericeum and Ophiura robusta characterized the assemblages on shallow shelf banks whereas in greater depths Ophiopleura borealis, Ophioscolex glacialis and Ophiacantha bidentata became dominant, albeit at significantly lower densities. Mass occurrences of brittle stars, such as those recorded on Greenlandic shelf banks, have not been discovered in the Weddell Sea, where distinct assemblages were discriminated in deep shelf trenches as well as on the eastern and southern shelf. Ophioplocus incipiens, Ophiurolepis martensi and Ophiurolepis brevirima were the most prominent species on the eastern shelf. Ophiacantha antarctica, Ophiurolepis gelida and Ophionotus victoriae on the southern shelf, and Ophiosparte gigas as well as the asteriod Hymenaster sp., in the shelf trenches. Overall, the Weddell Sea housed conspicuously more asterozoan species than the waters off Greenland. Higher species diversity was also evident at both a regional and local scale, especially for the eastern Weddell Sea shelf. However, because many species from the Weddell Sea are closely related, the Weddell Sea assemblages were not significantly different from the Greenland ones in terms of taxonomic diversity and distinctness. Zooplankton composition and distribution were investigated on the Laptev Sea shelf, over the continental slope and in the adjacent deep Nansen Basin during the joint German-Russian expedition “Arctic 93” with RV Polarstern and Ivan Kireyev in August/September 1993. In the shelf area biomass decreased from west to east with the lowest values in the area influenced by the Lena river runoff. A gradual increase of biomass from the shallow to the deep area correlated with water depth. Total biomass ranged between 0.1 and 1.5 g m−2 on the shelf and 4.7 and 7.9 g m−2 in the adjacent Nansen Basin. On the shelf Calanus glacialis/finmarchicus dominated overall. The contribution of brackish-water taxa was low in the west, where high salinity and southward currents from the Arctic Basin supported a marine neritic community, but on the southern and eastern Laptev shelf, in the areas of freshwater influence, brackish-water taxa contributed up to 27% of the total biomass. On the slope and in deep areas a few large Arctic copepod species, Calanus glacialis, C. hyperboreus and Metridia longa, composed the bulk of biomass and determined the pattern of its vertical distribution. The export of Calanus species from the Nansen Basin onto the Laptev shelf appears to be of great importance for the shelf communities. In turn, the eastern outer shelf and slope area of the Laptev Sea are thought to have a pronounced effect on the deep basin, modifying the populations entering the central Arctic. Clastic sediments of Middle–Late Eocene age were studied on the Island of Rab (northern Adriatic Sea, Croatia) in order to reconstruct their depositional history, depositional environments, and geometry of sandstone bodies. Detailed outcrop logging and mapping revealed the response of depositional systems to frequent relative sea-level changes, which initiated significant basinward and landward shifts of facies, respectively. Tidal sandstones are commonly underlain by shoreface sandstones, and overlain by offshore sandy marls, whereas the latter are again overlain by shoreface sandstones. Major relative sea-level falls initiated basinward shift of depositional systems and the incision of incised valleys or estuaries, and consequently truncated the underlying shelf sediments. In some cases, the accelerated sea-level fall caused rapid shoreface progradation which is interpreted as a forced regression. Relative sea-level rise caused flooding of the incised relief, and deposition of tidal sandstone bodies which overlie type-I sequence boundaries. The coarse lag sediment of these sequence boundaries locally disappears laterally, and the boundary is granulometrically less prominent. All of the major bounding surfaces have been recognized in the sections studied, although the maximum flooding surface is recognized as a thin “zone” instead of a single surface. Altogether, 28 complete sequences, and 15 parasequences are recognized in the informal unit of the Lopar sandstones, documenting the depositional response to high-frequency relative sea-level oscillations. They have so far not been recognized in the Eocene of the eastern Adriatic region.  相似文献

对渤海中央盆地B92-3孔(芯长420cm)、B92-1孔(芯长420cm)以及莱州湾B92-2孔(芯长330cm)柱状样进行了介形类属种、丰度和分异度分析,并将B92-3孔和B92-1孔的介形类划分出6个组合带。根据渤、黄海地区不同沉积环境中现代介形类的分布,将剖面中的介形类分成滨岸-河口区的Sinocytheridea组合和近岸区的Munseyella组合。按照地层14C年代以及剖面中Sinocytheridea组合分子和Munseyella组合分子的相对丰度变化,讨论了渤海晚冰期后期以来的古环境演化历史:晚冰期为河流、湖沼环境;大约10000aB.P.开始海侵,早全新世属滨岸-河口沉积;8700aB.P.前后开始水深加大,盐度提高;2400aBP以后水深逐渐降低。  相似文献

Ostracodes recovered from sediments in seven onshore boreholes within the Pelotas basin, State of Rio Grande do Sul, indicate several continuous nearshore environments and at least four brief transgressive-regressive cycles are present. This interpretation is based on the distribution throughout upper Neogene and Quaternary sequences of species that characterize one or more biofacies depending on the borehole position in the basin. Bradleya pelotensis, Krithe coimbrai, Henryhowella kempfi and H. rectangulata are considered shelf-upper bathyal species whereas the shelf species are represented by Ambostracon crucicostatum, Argenticytheretta variabilis, A. laevipunctata, Brasilicythere reticulispinosa, Caudites posdiagonalis, Costa riograndensis, Coquimba bertelsae, C. tenuireticulata, Cytheretta punctata, Quadracythere eichlerae and Protocytheretta sp. Species with lagoon-estuarine shelf affinities include Callistocythere litoralensis, C. marginalis and Perissocytheridea kroemmelbeini whereas Cyprideis maxipunctata, C. mostardensis, C. posteroinflata, C. salebrosa and C. sparsopunctata represent a lagoon or estuarine environment, and Cypris cassinensis and Limnocythere sp. are freshwater species. Correlation of the ostracode biozones places the four maximum regressive events in the Late Pliocene and Pleistocene (1250-485 ka, 185 ka and 15 ka), whereas the maximum transgressive events occur in the Late Miocene and Pleistocene (1.6 Ma, 423–400 ka and 120 ka), in a barrier-lagoonal depositional system controlled by glacio-eustatic sea level changes.  相似文献

侏罗纪菊石类化石的形态特征是其生存环境水深的良好标志,而通过对菊石壳体结构(体管和隔壁沟)强度的裂限水深(implosiondepthlimit)计算可获得半定量的水深数据。对西藏南部的聂拉木-古错地区的中保罗世阿连期至晚侏罗世提唐期沉积环境的分析,共识别出13个自水下20m到水下550m的陆棚至陆坡的不同水深环境。中侏罗世阿连-早巴柔期时,该区内的海水深度表明基本限于浅水碎屑-碳酸岩台地型的内陆棚环境,从晚巴柔至早提唐期间,沉积环境颇不稳定,互相转换于外陆棚和陆坡之间,尤以位于陆棚和陆坡转折端、水深150—300m的中等水深环境延续较长时间。相对下降较快的地块出现浊积底栖相沉积。而在晚提唐期则表现为相对稳定的外陆坡沉积环境。整个侏罗纪期间的特提斯喜马拉雅海最大水深大概不会超过550m。菊石类所提供的年代格架及古生态研究所得到的水深数据,可以比较合理地解释本区中、上侏罗统所以有巨大的沉积厚度和复杂的沉积相组合,在很大程度上是源于特提斯被动大陆边缘发育的同沉积断裂为特征的张性犁式断层系和地垒-地堑地质构造的叠加作用。  相似文献

Ostracode faunas obtained from nine sections spanning the Paleocene-Early Eocene interval from a platform-basin transect in the Southern Galala Plateau area (Eastern Desert, Egypt) have been investigated. The study focuses on taxonomy and biostratigraphy of the ostracode assemblages across the P/E boundary, with supporting comments on paleoecology and paleobiogeography. The studied nine sections yielded 60 taxa belonging to 39 genera. Five species are new. The P/E transition is characterized by the appearance of new taxa rather than extinctions. During the Early and early Late Paleocene, the ostracode assemblages throughout the study area are largely similar, being dominated by middle-outer neritic taxa. In the late Late Paleocene and Early Eocene, changes in the paleobathymetry from deeper marine environments in the distal area in the south to shallower marine environments in the proximal area in the north become pronounced. Many of the recorded taxa have a wide geographic distribution throughout the Middle East and North Africa. Similarities with basins of West Africa are also found, reflecting faunal exchanges between this area and southern Tethys during the Paleocene and Early Eocene.  相似文献

During the past ten years, the Antarctic Peninsula has been identified as the most rapidly warming region of the Southern Hemisphere and it is important to place this warming in the context of the natural climate and oceanographic variability of the recent geological past. Many biological proxies, such as marine diatom assemblages, have been used to determine Southern Ocean palaeoceanographic conditions during the Late Quaternary, however, few investigations have attempted to link observations of modern floras with the fossil record. In this study we examine a suite of modern austral spring (December 2003) and summer (February 2002) surface water samples from along the western Antarctic Peninsula (WAP) continental shelf and compare these to core-top, surface sediment samples. Using detrended correspondence analysis (DCA) and principal component analysis (PCA) of diatom abundance data we investigate the relationship of contemporary diatom floras with the fossil record. This multivariate analysis reveals that our modern assemblages can be divided into three groups: summer southern WAP sites, summer northern WAP sites, and spring WAP sites. Sea surface temperature (SST) is an important environmental variable for explaining seasonal differences in diatom assemblages between spring and summer, but sea surface salinity (SSS) is more important for understanding temporally-equivalent regional variations in assemblage. Our summer diatom samples are more reminiscent of early season assemblages, reflecting the unusually late sea ice retreat from the region that year. When the modern assemblages are compared to the fossil record, it is clear that most of the important diatoms from the summer assemblage are not preserved into the sediments, and that the fossil record more closely reflects spring assemblages. This observation is important for any future attempts to quantitatively reconstruct palaeoceanographic conditions along the WAP during the Late Quaternary and highlights the need for many more such studies in order to address longer timescales, such as interannual variability, in the context of the fossil record.  相似文献

内蒙古海拉尔盆地南部探井青元岗组红色碎屑岩中发现较丰富的介形类化石,即下段的Ahanicypris obesa-Talicypridea triangulata组合和上段的Chinocypridea augusta-Talicypridea qingyuangangensis组合,这些介形类化石地方性色彩强烈,表现为以具冠状壳喙类型的Ahanicypris,Talicypridea,Chinocypridea和网纹发育的Harbinia等属繁盛为特征,反映了中国东北地区晚白垩世晚期介形类动物群面貌。根据介形类化石组合特征及其分布规律,可以与松辽盆地晚白垩世四方台组的介形类动物群对比,时代为晚白垩世Maastrichtian期。  相似文献

The distribution of recent shallow-water benthic foraminifera in surface sediment samples from cool-water carbonate environments of the Oran Bight, Alboran Platform and Mallorca Shelf in the Western Mediterranean Sea was studied. Multivariate statistical analyses resulted in the identification of species assemblages, representing different environmental settings. In all three regions the assemblages show a distinct bathymetric zonation that is mainly attributed to the distribution of rhodoliths and related substrates, but also to water turbulence and the availability of food at the sea floor. The live assemblages (Rose Bengal stained individuals) are characterised by rather low diversity and low standing stocks, likely reflecting seasonal population dynamics. In the Oran Bight, elevated standing stocks of “high food”-taxa suggest the impact of anthropogenic eutrophication on the near-coastal benthic ecosystems of this area. The diversity of the dead assemblages is higher than in siliclastic shelf ecosystems of the Mediterranean Sea but lower when compared to carbonate environments of the Levantine Sea. This regional difference is mainly attributed to lower sea surface temperatures and the lack of Lessepsian invaders in the western Mediterranean Sea. In all study areas, a distinct faunal change occurs between approximately 80–90 m water depth. This change coincides with the lower distribution limit of living rhodoliths at the shelf of Mallorca, providing coarse-grained substrates that are dominated by attached taxa. Below this depth interval, the fauna shows regional differences depending on the grain-size and related accumulation of organic material. This paper reports the first find of pika remains in the Iberian Peninsula, at a site in central Spain. A fragmented mandible of Ochotona cf. pusilla was unearthed from Layer 3 (deposited some 63.4±5.5 ka ago as determined by thermoluminescence) of the Buena Pinta Cave. This record establishes new limits for the genus geographic distribution during the Pleistocene, shifting the previous edge of its known range southwest by some 500 km. It also supports the idea that, even though Europe’s alpine mountain ranges represented a barrier that prevented the dispersal into the south to this and other taxa of small mammals from central and eastern Europe, they were crossed or circumvented at the coldest time intervals of the end of the Middle Pleistocene and of the Late Pleistocene. During those periods both the reduction of the forest cover and the emersion of large areas of the continental shelf due to the drop of the sea level probably provided these species a way to surpass this barrier. The pika mandible was found accompanying the remains of other small mammals adapted to cold climates, indicating the presence of steppe environments in central Iberia during the Late Pleistocene.  相似文献

The paper deals with original and published data on fossil ostracodal assemblages from the Eurasian Arctic Kara, Laptev and Chuckchi seas. As a whole, six ecologically different assemblages were distinguished (freshwater, brackish water, marine of the inner, middle and outer shelves and upper continental slope), they replace each other upcore reflecting a gradual increase in water depth and distance from the coast. These assemblages are stable in the entire Arctic region and can be used for interpretation of environments in different Arctic areas.  相似文献
