Seven young men undertook a desert walk of 30 km at a rate of 100 m/min. Six finished; the seventh stopped after 24 km. Each satisfied his thirst with cool tap water each hour. Periodic observations included metabolic rate, blood pressure, heart rate, rectal and skin temperature, body weight, and volume of water drunk. Hand sweat was collected each hour and body sweat residues on the skin were collected at the end of the walk. Subjective reports revealed portents of breakdown: aching muscles, painful joints, hot or blistered feet, hunger, and boredom. Cardiovascular adjustment and temperature regulation maintained tolerable conditions. The volumes of water evaporated by the 5-h walkers were about the same. Wet bulb temperatures were below 25 degrees C; all sweat evaporated and was available for temperature regulation. The volume of water drawn from body reserves was closely correlated with concentration of chloride in body sweat; the volume of water that satisfied thirst maintained osmotic pressure.  相似文献

Five Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains were tested for the utilization of 47 low-molecular-weight compounds as their sole sources of carbon and energy for growth at a concentration of 2.5 g/liter. Of these compounds, 31 to 35 were consumed. Growth experiments in tap water at 15 degrees C were carried out with one particular strain (P1525) isolated from drinking water. This strain was tested for the utilization of 30 compounds supplied at a concentration of 25 microgram of C per liter. The growth rate (number of generations per hour) of strain P1525 in this tap water was approximately 0.005 h-1, and with 10 compounds it was larger than 0.03 h-1. An average yield of 6.2 x 10(9) colony-forming units per mg of C was obtained from the maximum colony counts (colony-forming units per milliliter). The average yield and maximum colony count of strain P1525 grown in tap water supplied with a mixture of 45 compounds, each at a concentration of 1 microgram of C per liter, enabled us to calculate that 28 compounds were utilized. Growth rates of two P. aeruginosa strains (including P1525) in various types of water at 15 degrees C were half of those of a fluorescent pseudomonad. The concentrations of assimilable organic carbon calculated from maximum colony counts and average yield values amounted to 0.1 to 0.7% of the total organic carbon concentrations in five types of tap water. The assimilable organic carbon percentages were about 10 times larger in river water and in water after ozonation.  相似文献

To prevent thermal injuries during distance running, the American College of Sports Medicine proposes that between 0.83 and 1.65 l of water should be ingested each hour during prolonged exercise. Yet such high rates of fluid intake have been reported to cause water intoxication. To establish the freely-chosen rates of fluid intake during prolonged competitive exercise, we measured fluid intake during, body weight before and after, and rectal temperature after competition in a total of 102 runners and 91 canoeists competing in events lasting from 170-340 min. Fluid intakes during competition ranged from 0.29-0.62 l.h-1; rates of water loss ranged from 0.69-1.27 l.h-1 in the runners; values were lower in the canoeists. Mean post-race rectal temperatures ranged from 38.0-39.0 degrees C. There was no relationship between the degree of dehydration and post-race rectal temperature. We conclude that hyperthermia is uncommon in prolonged competitive events held in mild environmental conditions, and that exercise intensity, not the level of dehydration, is probably the most important factor determining the postexercise rectal temperature. During prolonged exercise in mild environmental conditions, a fluid intake of 0.5 l.h-1 will prevent significant dehydration in the majority of athletes.  相似文献

The characteristics of water diffusional permeability (P) of human red blood cells were studied on isolated erythrocytes and ghosts by a doping nuclear magnetic resonance technique. In contrast to all previous investigations, systematic measurements were performed on blood samples obtained from a large group of donors. The mean values of P ranged from 2.2 X 10(-3) cm.s-1 at 5 degrees C to 8.1 X 10(-3) cm.s-1 at 42 degrees C. The reasons for some of the discrepancies in the permeability coefficients reported by various authors were found. In order to estimate the basal permeability, the maximal inhibition of water diffusion was induced by exposure of red blood cells to p-chloromercuribenzenesulfonate (PCMBS) under various conditions (concentration, duration, temperature). The lowest values of P were around 1.3 X 10(-3) cm.s-1 at 20 degrees C, 1.6 X 10(-3) cm.s-1 at 25 degrees C, 1.9 X 10(-3) cm.s-1 at 30 degrees C and 3.2 X 10(-3) cm.s-1 at 37 degrees C. The results reported here represent the largest series of determinations of water diffusional permeability of human red blood cells (without or with exposure to mercurials) available in the literature, and consequently the best estimates of the characteristics of this transport process. The values of P can be taken as references for the studies of water permeability in various cells or in pathological conditions.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to examine the running performances and associated thermoregulatory responses of African and Caucasian runners in cool and warm conditions. On two separate occasions, 12 (n = 6 African, n = 6 Caucasian) well-trained men ran on a motorized treadmill at 70% of peak treadmill running velocity for 30 min followed by an 8-km self-paced performance run (PR) in cool (15 degrees C) or warm (35 degrees C) humid (60% relative humidity) conditions. Time to complete the PR in the cool condition was not different between groups ( approximately 27 min) but was significantly longer in warm conditions for Caucasian (33.0 +/- 1.6 min) vs. African (29.7 +/- 2.3 min, P < 0.01) runners. Rectal temperatures were not different between groups but were higher during warm compared with cool conditions. During the 8-km PR, sweat rates for Africans (25.3 +/- 2.3 ml/min) were lower compared with Caucasians (32.2 +/- 4.1 ml/min; P < 0.01). Relative rates of heat production were less for Africans than Caucasians in the heat. The finding that African runners ran faster only in the heat despite similar thermoregulatory responses as Caucasian runners suggests that the larger Caucasians reduce their running speed to ensure an optimal rate of heat storage without developing dangerous hyperthermia. According to this model, the superior running performance in the heat of these African runners can be partly attributed to their smaller size and hence their capacity to run faster in the heat while storing heat at the same rate as heavier Caucasian runners.  相似文献

The present study was undertaken to investigate energy balance in professional male breath-hold divers in Tsushima Island, Japan. In 4 divers, rectal (Tre) and mean skin (Tsk) temperatures and rate of O2 consumption (VO2) were measured during diving work in summer (27 degrees C water) and winter (14 degrees C water). Thermal insulation and energy costs of diving work were estimated. In summer, comparisons were made of subjects clad either in wet suits (protected) or in swimming trunks (unprotected), and in winter, they wore wet suits. The average Tre in unprotected divers decreased to 36.4 +/- 0.2 degrees C at the end of 1-h diving work, but in protected divers it decreased to 37.2 +/- 0.3 degrees C in 2 h in summer and to 36.9 +/- 0.1 degree C in 1.5 h in winter. The average Tsk of unprotected divers decreased to 28.0 +/- 0.6 degrees C in summer and that of protected divers decreased to 32.9 +/- 0.5 degrees C in summer and 28.0 +/- 0.3 degrees C in winter. Average VO2 increased 190% (from 370 ml/min before diving to 1,070 ml/min) in unprotected divers in summer, but in protected divers it rose 120% (from 360 to 780 ml/min) in summer and 110% (from 330 to 690 ml/min) in winter. Overall thermal insulation (tissue and wet suit) calculated for protected divers was 0.065 +/- 0.006 degree C X kcal-1 X m-2 X h-1 in summer and 0.135 +/- 0.019 degree C X kcal-1 X m-2 X h-1 in winter.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

To investigate fluid, electrolyte, and plasma vasopressin (PVP) and renin activity (PRA) responses, six men (20-35 yr) were immersed to the neck (NI) in water at 34.5 degrees C for six h after overnight food and fluid restriction. Diuresis was 1,061 +/- 160 (SE) ml/6 h during immersion and water balance was -1,285 +/- 104 ml/6 h. Preimmersion PVP was 0.7 +/- 0.2 pg/ml and increased to 3.0 +/- 0.6 pg/ml (P less than 0.05) at 6 h. PVP was unchanged at 1.2 +/- 0.1 pg/ml in the 6-h seated nonimmersion experiment at 25 degrees C. Plasma volume increased by 7.8 +/- 1.6% (P less than 0.05) at 60 min of NI and decreased thereafter. Serum osmolality was constant (292 +/- 1 mosmol/kg) throughout NI, whereas PRA decreased progressively from 1.9 to 0.5 ng angiotensin I X ml-1 X h-1 (P less than 0.05) at the end of immersion. In spite of moderate thirst just before NI, thirst sensations were attenuated and no water was consumed ad libitum during immersion. These data indicate that PVP is not suppressed when there is no fluid intake during immersion and suggest that the action of factors other than PVP suppression are necessary to explain the mechanism of immersion diuresis.  相似文献

Mice were injected for 1-2 months daily with 10 mg immunoglobulin G (IgG) from four patients with Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome (LEMS); control mice were injected with pooled human IgG from normal donors. Gastrocnemius muscles were homogenised for the assay of acetylcholine (ACh), choline acetyltransferase (ChAT), and cholinesterase (ChE). The ACh, ChAT, and ChE contents of gastrocnemius muscles from "LEMS mice" were about the same as the control values, which were 180 pmol, 40 nmol X h-1 (37 degrees C), and 15 mumol X h-1 (37 degrees C), respectively. Hemidiaphragms were treated with an irreversible ChE inhibitor (Soman) and incubated at 20 degrees C for estimation of ACh release. Resting ACh release from experimental muscles was reduced by about 25% (P2 less than 0.05) and the release evoked by 3 s-1 nervous stimulation by 50% (P2 less than 0.05). On the other hand, 50 mM KCl-induced transmitter release was not abnormal in LEMS mice. The findings indicate that IgG antibody from patients with LEMS may bind to nerve terminal determinants that are involved in quantal and nonquantal ACh release.  相似文献

This investigation determined the effect of different rates of dehydration, induced by ingesting different volumes of fluid during prolonged exercise, on hyperthermia, heart rate (HR), and stroke volume (SV). On four different occasions, eight endurance-trained cyclists [age 23 +/- 3 (SD) yr, body wt 71.9 +/- 11.6 kg, maximal O2 consumption 4.72 +/- 0.33 l/min] cycled at a power output equal to 62-67% maximal O2 consumption for 2 h in a warm environment (33 degrees C dry bulb, 50% relative humidity, wind speed 2.5 m/s). During exercise, they randomly received no fluid (NF) or ingested a small (SF), moderate (MF), or large (LF) volume of fluid that replaced 20 +/- 1, 48 +/- 1, and 81 +/- 2%, respectively, of the fluid lost in sweat during exercise. The protocol resulted in graded magnitudes of dehydration as body weight declined 4.2 +/- 0.1, 3.4 +/- 0.1, 2.3 +/- 0.1, and 1.1 +/- 0.1%, respectively, during NF, SF, MF, and LF. After 2 h of exercise, esophageal temperature (Tes), HR, and SV were significantly different among the four trials (P < 0.05), with the exception of NF and SF. The magnitude of dehydration accrued after 2 h of exercise in the four trials was linearly related with the increase in Tes (r = 0.98, P < 0.02), the increase in HR (r = 0.99, P < 0.01), and the decline in SV (r = 0.99, P < 0.01). LF attenuated hyperthermia, apparently because of higher skin blood flow, inasmuch as forearm blood flow was 20-22% higher than during SF and NF at 105 min (P < 0.05). There were no differences in sweat rate among the four trials. In each subject, the increase in Tes from 20 to 120 min of exercise was highly correlated to the increase in serum osmolality (r = 0.81-0.98, P < 0.02-0.19) and the increase in serum sodium concentration (r = 0.87-0.99, P < 0.01-0.13) from 5 to 120 min of exercise. In summary, the magnitude of increase in core temperature and HR and the decline in SV are graded in proportion to the amount of dehydration accrued during exercise.  相似文献

31P NMR measurement of ATP synthesis rate in perfused intact rat hearts   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Using 31P NMR and the saturation-transfer method, the unidirectional rate of ATP synthesis was measured in isolated, Langendorff-perfused, isovolumic rat hearts operating at a rate pressure product of 25.6 +/- 2.5 (SE) X 10(3) mmHg X min-1 and consuming O2 at a rate of 35 +/- 2 mumol O2 X min-1 X (g dry wt)-1, at 37 degrees C. This rate was 7.2 +/- 0.9 mumol X s-1 X (g dry wt)-1 and was related to the rate of oxygen atom consumption by a ratio of 6.3 +/- 0.9. These data show that in the intact heart the unidirectional rate of ATP synthesis exceeds the net rate of ATP synthesis and consumption by approximately a factor of 2.  相似文献

The effects of dehydration prior to heat exposure on sweating and body temperature were tested in 8 men and 8 women, dehydration being 1.3 and 1.0% of body weight, respectively. The subjects were exposed to 40 degrees C for 60 min. Compared with controls (C), in the dehydrated men (D) there was a longer delay in the onset of sweating (C, 7.8, D, 11.6 min, p less than 0.05), a lower total sweat loss (C, 153, D, 127 g X m-2 X h-1, p less than 0.001), and a greater increase in Tre (C, 0.31, D, 0.43 degree C, p less than 0.002). In women, dehydration did not influence the control time course of sweating significantly, nor were these significant body temperature increases during heat exposure. Delay in the onset of sweating in women (C, 18.1, D, 18.7 min) was generally longer than in men (C, 7.8, D, 11.6 min), [F(1,14) = 7.41, p less than 0.05]. A significant correlation was found between the inertia time of sweating and delta Tre in both control and dehydration conditions in the men (r = 0.81, p less than 0.01). The rectal temperature increases in men were also related to the inertia time of electrical skin resistance (r = 0.83, p less than 0.01). It is concluded that dehydration affects sweating and body temperature in men more severely than in women.  相似文献

While studying the effect of structure on satiety, effects of mode of consumption, additional water to drink, and thirst have been neglected. The objective was to assess effects of structure, mode of consumption of food, and additional drinking of water on fullness and thirst. In study 1, 20 subjects (BMI 22.5 ± 0.5 kg/m(2); age 21.4 ± 3 years) underwent consumption conditions; SEW: solids to eat + 750 ml water to drink; LEW: liquefied soup to eat including 500 ml water + 250 ml water separately to drink; LDW: the same as LEW but served as drinks; SE, LE, and LD: the same as previous but without water to drink. In study 2, a subset of subjects underwent consumption conditions: solid carbohydrate, solid protein, solid fat: the same as SEW, but for each macronutrient separately; liquefied carbohydrate, liquefied protein, liquefied fat: the same as LEW, but for each macronutrient separately. Appetite, insulin concentration, glucose concentration, and ghrelin concentration were measured. Eating, independent of structure, suppressed desire to eat more than drinking (P < 0.01). Drinking water separately vs. water consumption in the food suppressed thirst more (P < 0.001). Regarding protein, satiety was higher in the solid vs. liquefied condition, while blood parameters were not significantly different. Only after drinking a meal most subjects (80%) wanted to consume more of the same meal, in order to alleviate hunger (63%) or quench thirst (37%). We conclude that mode of consumption plays a role in alleviating hunger and thirst. Subjects required further consumption after drinking the meal, motivated by hunger or thirst, showing that drinking a meal causes confusion that may imply a risk of overconsumption.  相似文献

The effect of pyridostigmine on thermoregulatory responses was evaluated during exercise and heat stress. Eight heat acclimated, young adult male subjects received four doses of pyridostigmine (30 mg) or identical placebo tablets every 8 h, in a double blind, randomized, cross-over trial. A 30.3%, SD 4.6% inhibition of the circulating cholinesterase (ChE) activity was induced in the pyridostigmine-treated group. The subjects were exposed to 170-min exercise and heat-stress (dry bulb temperature, 33 degrees C; relative humidity 60%) consisting of 60 min in a sitting position and two bouts of 50-min walking (1.39 m.s-1, 5% gradient) which were separated by 10-min rest periods. No differences were found between treatments in the physiological responses and heat balance parameters at the end of exposure: heart rate (fc) was 141 beats.min-1, SD 16 and 150 beats.min-1, SD 12, rectal temperature (Tre) was 38.5 degrees C, SD 0.4 degrees and 38.6 degrees C, SD 0.3 degrees, heat storage was 60 W.m-2, SD 16 and 59 W.m-2, SD 15 and sweat rate was 678 g.h-1, SD 184 and 661 g.h-1, SD 133, in the pyridostigmine and placebo treatments, respectively. The changes in Tre and fc over the heat-exercise period were parallel in both study and control groups. Pyridostigmine caused a slight slowing of fc (5 beats.min-1) which was consistent throughout the entire exposure (P less than 0.001) but was of no clinical significance. The overall change in fc was similar for both groups.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the postponement of fatigue in subjects fed carbohydrate during prolonged strenuous exercise is associated with a slowing of muscle glycogen depletion. Seven endurance-trained cyclists exercised at 71 +/- 1% of maximal O2 consumption (VO2max), to fatigue, while ingesting a flavored water solution (i.e., placebo) during one trial and while ingesting a glucose polymer solution (i.e., 2.0 g/kg at 20 min and 0.4 g/kg every 20 min thereafter) during another trial. Fatigue during the placebo trial occurred after 3.02 +/- 0.19 h of exercise and was preceded by a decline (P less than 0.01) in plasma glucose to 2.5 +/- 0.5 mM and by a decline in the respiratory exchange ratio (i.e., R; from 0.85 to 0.80; P less than 0.05). Glycogen within the vastus lateralis muscle declined at an average rate of 51.5 +/- 5.4 mmol glucosyl units (GU) X kg-1 X h-1 during the first 2 h of exercise and at a slower rate (P less than 0.01) of 23.0 +/- 14.3 mmol GU X kg-1 X h-1 during the third and final hour. When fed carbohydrate, which maintained plasma glucose concentration (4.2-5.2 mM), the subjects exercised for an additional hour before fatiguing (4.02 +/- 0.33 h; P less than 0.01) and maintained their initial R (i.e., 0.86) and rate of carbohydrate oxidation throughout exercise. The pattern of muscle glycogen utilization, however, was not different during the first 3 h of exercise with the placebo or the carbohydrate feedings. The additional hour of exercise performed when fed carbohydrate was accomplished with little reliance on muscle glycogen (i.e., 5 mmol GU X kg-1 X h-1; NS) and without compromising carbohydrate oxidation. We conclude that when they are fed carbohydrate, highly trained endurance athletes are capable of oxidizing carbohydrate at relatively high rates from sources other than muscle glycogen during the latter stages of prolonged strenuous exercise and that this postpones fatigue.  相似文献

The kinetics of the hydrogen-deuterium exchange reactions of deoxyguanosine (dG), deoxycytidine (dC), double-helical poly[d(G-C)] X poly[d(G-C], and double-helical poly(dG) X poly(dC) have been examined at 20 degrees C, pH 7.0, and in low-salt (0.15 M NaCl) medium by stopped-flow ultraviolet spectrophotometry, in the spectral region of 260 to 320 nm. The rate constant was found to be 78.9 s-1 for dG-NH, 2.2 s-1 for dG-NH2, 39.3 s-1 for dC-NH2, 2.4 s-1 (fast) and 0.94 s-1 (slow) for poly[d(G-C)] X poly[d(G-C)], and 2.2 s-1 (fast) and 0.92 s-1 (slow) for poly(dG) X poly(dC). From these values, the probability of base-pair opening of the G X C containing B-form double helix is estimated to be (3 +/- 1) X 10(-3). This is much greater than what is expected from an extrapolation of the van't Hoff plot at the helix-coil transition region, i.e. at about 110 degrees C. The mechanism of these base-pair openings at 20 degrees C (as well as the mechanism of base-pair reformation) is suggested to be totally different from those in the melting temperature range.  相似文献

Two kinkajous (Potos flavus, Procyonidae) showed marked nycthemeral variations in their rectal temperature. The mean Tr at night was 38.1 +/- 0.4 degrees C SD and 36.0 +/- 0.6 degrees C SD while resting during the day. Body temperature and O2-consumption were measured at ambient temperatures from 5-35 degrees C. With one exception at 35 degrees C, hypo- or hyperthermia was never observed. At air temperatures above 30 degrees C the bears reacted with behavioural responses. O2-consumption was minimal at Ta's from 23-30 degrees C. The mean basal metabolic rate was 0.316 ml O2 g-1 h-1 which is only 65% of the expected value according to the Kleiber formula. Below 23 degrees C heat production followed the equation : y (ml O2 g-1 h-1) = 0.727--0.018 Ta. The minimal thermal conductance was 90% of the predicted value according to the formula : C (ml O2 g-1 h-1 degrees C-1) = 1.02 W-0.505 (HERREID & KESSEL, 1967). Kinkajous are another distinct exception to the mouse to elephant curve.  相似文献

The CO2 hydration and HCO3- dehydration activities of human red cell carbonic anhydrase isozymes B and C (HCAB and HCAC) have been studied as a function of temperature from 0 degrees to 37 degrees C. The Arrhenius plots of ln kcat versus 1/T are linear for both isozymes in both hydration and dehydration reactions, indicating that the rate-determining steps remain unchanged over this temperature range. The 37 degrees C hydration kcat, at pH 7.5, is 13 X 10(5) s-1 for isozyme C and 0.71 X 10(5) s-1 for isozyme B. Km, for hydration, is 10 mM for C and 5 mM for B, and invariant with temperature. The uncatalyzed reactions are significantly affected by temperature, 30- to 40-fold rate enhancements being observed from 0 degrees to 37 degrees C. The enzyme-catalyzed processes are much less sensitive to temperature, the rate enhancements being 2- to 3-fold for HCAB and 5- to 6-fold for HCAC in this temperature range. These observations are consistent with a significant lowering of the free energy of activation by both isozymes. This effect is greater for C accounting for its higher catalytic power. The enthalpy of activation, at pH 7.5 and 8.2, in the rate-limiting step is considerably less for the B enzyme compared to C. This is, however, more than offset by a large negative entropy of activation in the case of HCAB. This observation indicates either a mechanistic difference in the rate-limiting events or a difference in the structural organizations of the active sites of the two isozymes, or both.  相似文献

In the present study, we aimed to compare the thermoregulatory response and soccer-specific training performance aspects of two commercially available sport drinks, both of similar carbohydrate concentration, but one containing 5.2% glycerol. Ten players participated in two similar outdoor training sessions and were randomly assigned to each of two drinks: a carbohydrate (C) beverage or a carbohydrate-glycerol (CG) beverage. Players consumed 500 mL of C or CG 30 minutes pre-exercise and at half-time. Pre- and postexercise body mass, core temperature (CT), and heart rate (HR) were recorded, and urine and blood samples were taken. No difference was observed between days for wet bulb globe temperature (session 1: 17.0 +/- 1.1 degrees C, session 2: 16.9 +/- 1.1 degrees C; P = 0.944). The degree of dehydration (% Delta BM) was greater after the C trial (P = 0.041). Similarly, percent change in plasma volume was greater in the C trial (P = 0.049). No overall main affect was observed between CT and mean exercise HRs during either training session (CT: P = 0.350; mean HR: P = 0.256), and there was no difference observed between groups in time to failure during the session-ending fatigue test (P = 0.547). Ingestion of a CG beverage provided players with better hydration than C alone. However, if training sessions are short (<75 minute), with adequate time for recovery, both drinks are sufficient for maintaining performance intensities during soccer-specific training.  相似文献

Plasma volume (PV) expansion by endurance training and/or heat acclimatization is known to increase aerobic and thermoregulatory capacities in humans. Also, higher erythrocyte volume (EV) fractions in blood are known to improve these capacities. We tested the hypothesis that training in a hypobaric hypoxic and warm environment would increase peak aerobic power (VO(2)(peak)) and forearm skin vascular conductance (FVC) response to increased esophageal temperature (T(es)) more than training in either environment alone, by increasing both PV and EV. Twenty men were divided into four training regimens (n = 5 each): low-altitude cool (610-m altitude, 20 degrees C ambient temperature, 50% relative humidity), high-altitude cool (2,000 m, 20 degrees C), low-altitude warm (610 m, 30 degrees C), and high-altitude warm (HW; 2,000 m, 30 degrees C). They exercised on a cycle ergometer at 60% VO(2)(peak) for 1 h/day for 10 days in a climate chamber. After training, PV increased in all trials, but EV increased in only high-altitude trials (both P < 0.05). VO(2)(peak) increased in all trials (P < 0.05) but without any significant differences among trials. FVC response to increased T(es) was measured during exercise at 60% of the pretraining VO(2)(peak) at 610 m and 30 degrees C. After the training, T(es) threshold for increasing FVC decreased in warm trials (P < 0.05) but not in cool trials and was significantly lower in HW than in cool trials (P < 0.05). The slope of FVC increase/T(es) increase increased in all trials (P < 0.05) except for high-altitude cool (P > 0.4) and was significantly higher in HW than in cool trials (P < 0.05). Thus, against our hypothesis, the VO(2)(peak) for HW did not increase more than in other trials. Moreover, slope of FVC increase/T(es) increase in HW increased most, despite the similar increase in blood volume, suggesting that factors other than blood volume were involved in the highest FVC response in HW.  相似文献
