An effect of isosorbide dinitrate on blood pressure values in the pulmonary circulation and the right heart has been investigated in 25 patients with a history of the first transmural myocardial infarction. Group I including 12 patients has been given 5 mg isosorbide nitrate in a 60-minute intravenous infusion while group II of 13 patients has been given 10 mg of the drug in the same way. Both groups have been matched in clinical data and blood pressure value in the pulmonary circulation which has been normal. Pulmonary blood pressure has been measured with Swan-Ganz catheter prior to the administration of drug, and 15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes following an infusion. Isosorbide dinitrate in a dose of 5 mg did not decrease blood pressure in the pulmonary circulation statistically significantly. The differences in blood pressure falls did exceed 9%. Filling pressure in the right ventricle did not change either while systolic blood pressure decrease by 16.6%. A double dose of isosorbide dinitrate reduced blood pressure in the pulmonary artery by about 1/3 of the baseline value, and blood pressure in the right ventricle (mean right atrial pressure) by 57.2%. Both systolic and diastolic arterial pressures were reduced. Isosorbide dinitrate reduced blood pressure in the pulmonary circulation in patients who underwent myocardial infarction, and hypotensive effect has been dose-related. A reduction in the right ventricular filling pressure has been a one of important mechanisms decreasing pulmonary pressures.  相似文献

During the past ten years over 1,000,000 pints of blood have been collected at the Los Angeles Regional Red Cross Blood Center. In addition to the progressive increase in the number of whole blood transfusions there has been a greater use of specific blood elements which results in purposeful and economical hemotherapy. With the increased use of blood there has also been a growing awareness of transfusion reactions and dangers. Serious transfusion complications reported have been due to bacterial contamination, to hemolytic reactions, to homologous serum jaundice, and to a mistake in cross-matching. Surgeons and anesthetists must pay strict attention to the use of blood since anesthesia masks severe hemolytic transfusion reactions. At present there is no way of eliminating the danger of the transmission of virus disease (infectious hepatitis and homologous serum jaundice) in blood transfusions.  相似文献

A procedure is presented for screening the quality of feed in respect to ochratoxin A contamination based upon the analysis of ochratoxin A in pig blood. Representative samples from large feed lots may be obtained by using pigs as in vivo sample collectors which enrich the toxin and forms homogeneous samples in the blood. The spectrofluorometric procedure for ochratoxin A analysis (K. Hult and S. Gatenbeck, J. Assoc. Off. Anal. Chem. 59:128-129, 1976) has been adapted to pig blood and has been simplified to involve only three extraction steps. A volume of 2.5 ml of blood or plasma is needed, and the detection limit is 2 ng of ochratoxin A per ml. The disappearance of ochratoxin A from pig blood as a function of time has been studied. A feeding experiment with ochratoxin A has been performed, and the time course of the concentration of ochratoxin A in blood has been followed during the experiment.  相似文献

In the past year, substantial progress has been made in both mapping and fine mapping the genes involved in blood pressure regulation. Genome scans have been carried out in humans and mice and these reveal many new potential chromosomal locations for blood pressure susceptibility loci. The chromosomal regions containing blood pressure genes for many of the inbred hypertensive rat models have been refined using new congenic strains. Further genetic studies support a role for antiotensinogen, aldosterone synthase and a region close to the epithelial sodium channel in blood pressure regulation. Finally, comprehensive single-nucleotide polymorphism analysis of cardiovascular genes has been undertaken using chip technology.  相似文献

The level of large granular lymphocytes (LGL) has been determined in thoracic lymph duct and peripheral blood of cattle. It has been shown that in contrast to the blood, these cells are present in the lymph in minor quantities. Unlike blood LGL, lymph LGL have smaller granules in cytoplasm. The relationship between free trade, self-sufficiency and safety of blood and blood components has been a perennial discussion topic in the blood service community. Traditionally, national self-sufficiency has been perceived as the ultimate goal that would also maximize safety. However, very few countries are, or can be, truly self-sufficient when self-sufficiency is understood correctly to encompass the whole value chain from the blood donor to the finished product. This is most striking when plasma derived medicines are considered. Free trade of blood products, or competition, as such can have a negative or positive effect on blood safety. Further, free trade of equipment and reagents and several plasma medicines is actually necessary to meet the domestic demand for blood and blood derivatives in most countries. Opposing free trade due to dogmatic reasons is not in the best interest of any country and will be especially harmful for the developing world. Competition between blood services in the USA has been present for decades. The more than threefold differences in blood product prices between European blood services indicate that competition is long overdue in Europe, too. This competition should be welcomed but carefully and proactively regulated to avoid putting safe and secure blood supply at risk.  相似文献

A modified method has been described for the estimation of ascorbic acid (AA) and dehydroascorbic acid (DHA) in blood and plasma. DHA is practically absent in the blood of normal human beings. On the other hand, diabetic patients have a persistently high blood DHA level. The DHA from diabetic blood has been isolated as the 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone derivative and identified by thin-layer chromatography and spectrophotometry.  相似文献

A simple theoretical model has been presented whose behavior duplicates the variation in bicarbonate ion concentration in the blood following exercise. Methods for the evaluation of the constants of rational equations to describe the concentration in muscle cells, in blood plasma, and in removal cells, of the anions produced in exercise have been devised. These methods have been applied to experimental data from 23 experiments, and a close agreement between the observed and theoretically predicted values for blood plasma has been found. From the mathematical analysis of the data values for permeability of acid anions produced in exercise have been estimated as 75 x 10–5 and 5.9 x 10–5 cm. per sec. between muscle cell and blood (extracellular fluid) and between blood plasma and removal cells respectively.  相似文献

The data obtained show that a great amount of deformed red blood cells, i.e. ovalocytes, cristate-shaped cells appear in the peripheral blood of patients with severe cutaneous burns during shock. In the most severe shocks a dramatic increase in degenerative forms of red blood cells in the blood has been observed. These are spheroids and spheroechynocytes frequently with impaired matrix structure. A correlation has been established between the progressing shock severity and the number of degenerative forms of red blood cells in the blood. Reversible changes of platelet fine structure were also noted.  相似文献

The hydrodynamic properties of the blood plasma flow in smallest microvessels have been investigated. It has been shown that velocity distribution in such flows essentially differs from the Poseuille flow. The interrelations between the optical parameters and hydrodynamic characteristics of blood microflow have been analyzed. A new method for in vivo measurement of blood plasma rate in small microvessels is proposed, which uses in vivo microscopy in combination with speckle microscopy.  相似文献

The hydrogen clearance technique has been used for many years by investigators to determine brain blood flow and has been partially validated in this setting using other methods of blood flow measurement. The method has been modified to allow blood flow measurements in skin, but the accuracy of H2 clearance for measuring skin blood flow has not been determined. Multiple blood flow measurements were performed using H2 clearance and radioactive microspheres on skin flaps and control skin in pigs. On 12 pigs, a total of 117 flap and 42 control skin measurements were available for analysis. There was no significant difference between the two techniques in measuring mean control skin blood flow. In skin flaps, H2 clearance was significantly correlated to microsphere-measured blood flow, but it consistently gave an overestimate. Sources of error may include injury to the tissues by insertion of electrodes, consumption of H2 by the electrodes, or diffusion of H2 from the relatively ischemic flap to its well-vascularized bed. Further studies are necessary to determine the cause of this error and to measure the technique's accuracy in skeletal muscle and other flaps.  相似文献

SK&F 82526 and its enantiomers have been shown to increase renal blood flow and decrease renal vascular resistance in the anesthetized dog. The effect of the racemate on lowering systemic blood pressure in the anesthetized dog and the spontaneously hypertensive rat has been shown to be caused by the R-enantiomer with the S-enantiomer being devoid of significant activity on blood pressure. The mechanism by which the R-enantiomer decreases blood pressure is not systemic vasodilatation or prejunctional inhibition of norepinephrine release but appears to result from a unique stimulation of the postjunctional dopamine receptor. Racemic SK&F 82526 also has been shown to increase renal blood flow in an ischemic model of acute renal failure.  相似文献

Authors were interested in blood coagulation proteins and fibrinolysis in blood donors following several plasmaphereses. This interest was related to the occurrence of thrombo-embolic and hemorrhagic complications in these subjects. Blood morphology, serum protein, blood coagulation and fibrinolysis have been examined in 40 healthy blood donors, aged between 19 and 46 years, who gave blood plasma by plasmapheresis technique for 1-59 times. Results did not show any significant changes in blood morphology and serum protein levels prior to and after consecutive plasmaphereses. No significant decrease in blood coagulation proteins and fibrinolysis has been noted. However, a significant increase in factors VIII and IX activities was noted in several blood donors, who underwent the largest number of plasmaphereses. It may predispose these donors to thrombo-embolic complications.  相似文献

The first successful cord blood transplant was reported in 1989. In the last sixteen years, there has been a substantial increase in the use of cord blood as an alternative stem cell source for patients without matched related or unrelated bone marrow donors. Approximately 5000 cord blood transplants have been performed worldwide. Recently, the results in adult cord blood transplantation appear promising. In this review, the preclinical background, cord blood banking, and ethical issues will be briefly addressed. Outcome data for both pediatric and adult transplantation will be reviewed, with an emphasis on new strategies for adult cord blood transplantation. New indications for cord blood use outside of hematology/oncology will also be explored.  相似文献

Since the first successful cord blood transplant was performed in 1988 there has been a gradual increase in the use of cord blood for hemopoietic stem cell transplantation. Worldwide, over 8,000 unrelated cord blood transplants have been performed with the majority being for children with hemopoietic malignancies. Transplantation for adults has increased but is limited by the low number of nucleated cells and CD34(+) cells within a single cord blood collection. Cord blood hemopoietic stem cells are more primitive than their adult counterparts and have high proliferative potential. Cord blood ex vivo expansion is designed to improve transplant outcomes by increasing the number of hemopoietic stem cells with long term repopulating potential and their differentiated progeny. However, despite a large amount of research activity during the last decade, this aim has not been realized. Herein we discuss the rationale for this approach; culture methods for ex vivo expansion, ways to assess the functional capacity of ex vivo generated hemopoietic stem cells and clinical outcomes following transplantation with ex vivo expanded cord blood.  相似文献

Blood flow in a stenosed tube has been modeled in the present studies. Blood flow is assumed to be represented by a couple stress fluid. Flow parameters such as velocity, resistance to flow, and shear stress distribution have been computed for different suspension concentrations (haematocrit), and for the blood diseases; polycythemia, plasma cell dyscrasias, and for Hb SS (sickle cell). The results have been compared with the case of normal blood and for other theoretical models. The importance of size effects in blood flow studies has been highlighted.  相似文献

Mass transfer correlations for hollow fiber blood oxygenators have been determined experimentally using Newtonian and non-Newtonian blood analogue fluids. The Newtonian fluids consisted of deionized water and glycerol/water mixtures. The non-Newtonian fluids were prepared by adding small amounts of xanthan gum to the Newtonian blood analogue fluids. The rheological behavior of the non-Newtonian blood analogue fluids was modeled using the power law. The diffusion of oxygen into and out of the Newtonian and non-Newtonian blood analogue fluids has been studied. The liquid stream flowed outside and across bundles of woven hollow fibers, while the gas stream flowed inside the fibers.  相似文献
