Changes in the frequency of the EEG recorded in symmetrical areas of the frontal and auditory cortices were studied during food conditioning in four dogs. Spectral-correlation analysis was applied. EEG frequency changes depended on individual features of the animals, frequency band, and stage of conditioning. In the beta-2-range, the EEG frequency increased in comparison to the initial values in all the dogs. In three dogs, the EEG frequency in the beta range decreased in the frontal and increased in the auditory cortex. Heterodirectional frequency changes led to the development of the functional interhemispheric EEG asymmetry that was partial and dynamic. At the initial stages of conditioning higher activity was in the left hemisphere, later on asymmetry was absent (or activity of the right hemisphere predominated).  相似文献

For analysis of the action of destructive behavior, the EEG power spectra in groups with different levels of disruptiveness at rest and during the modeling of destructive behavior were studied. The destructive processes in the group of less destructive subjects of the experiment are accompanied by the development of activation processes of specific and nonspecific character (??1-rhythm power loss and ??2-rhythm power growth). This allows critical assessment of the incoming stimuli, generation of adequate behavioral responses, and inhibition of aggression. In the group of the subjects of the experiment with a high level of destructiveness activation, the criteria are less distinct. The criteria of excessive activation from diencephalic structures are observed (?? rhythm power growth), which may be connected with the development of earlier and less stable mechanisms of behavior regulation and help to select more primitive behavioral models, including aggression.  相似文献

The EEG was recorded in four dogs from symmetrical cortical areas of the left and right brain hemispheres. Activation foci were determined by the maximal values of the mean frequency of EEG oscillations and coherence function. In the background experiments, the hemispheric activation asymmetry was observed in all dogs. The individual differences were in the frequency ranges, which were asymmetrically localized. In three dogs the coherence level was significantly more frequently higher in the right hemisphere than in the left one, in one dog the opposite relations were observed. These differences in activation foci localization were correlated with different tactics of choice between two feeders under conditions of free behavior. Under the action of external stimuli, changes in hemispheric activation were observed, predominantly, in the corresponding projection areas, and at the shifts of food excitability they were localized in symmetrical frontal areas. The results suggest that the left hemisphere becomes more activated during the first presentations of indifferent stimuli, i.e., during the development of the reaction to novelty, and under conditions of food deprivation, which rises the level of brain activation.  相似文献

In healthy subjects (11 right-handed men) reorganization was studied of intra- and interhemispheric correlation of the electrical brain activity at transition from the state of alertness to drowsiness. At the lowering of alertness level, the coherence of hemispheres symmetrical points changed not abruptly, with a tendency towards an increase at differently directed character of changes of combinations of separate physiological rhythms ranges. Comparison of the EEG coherence changes within the right and left hemispheres revealed a greater reactivity of the left (dominant) hemisphere. The reduction of the predominance (observed in the dominant hemisphere in alertness) of the degree of EEG conjunction, at transition to drowsiness, leads to smoothing of interhemispheric asymmetry in the organization of electrical brain processes.  相似文献

Asymmetry of different human EEG indices was studied at different levels of consciousness. Subjects' self-reported changes in the content of consciousness: the intensity and quality of involuntary mental processes served as indicator of the level of consciousness. It was shown that a certain profile of EEG asymmetry corresponded to each the observed level of consciousness. In active state of consciousness, the connections in the high-frequency bands: beta-2 and gamma, were more pronounced in the left hemisphere of the brain. At the same time, transition of the focus of coherent connections to the right hemisphere was characteristic of the state of inhibition of "internal speech". The interhemisphere dynamics of autospectra amplitude and foci of coherent connections supports the notion that the character of interhemisphere asymmetry of the brain bioelectrical activity depends on its functional state.  相似文献

The interhemispheric difference in the level of EEG activation was studied as a correlate of the efficiency of human probabilistic activity. The interhemispheric asymmetry of the arousal duration in the projection (occipital) and associative (central) areas was assessed in two tested groups of subjects: with an adequate prediction and difficulties in predictive activity under conditions of different information significance of a stimulus. Under conditions of relevant stimulation, the asymmetry coefficient was higher, and the desynchronization reaction in the central areas of the left hemisphere was considerably shorter in bad predictors than in good ones. It is suggested that the asymmetry observed in bad predictors is determined by a nonspecific activation of subcortical structures, and in good predictors the asymmetry is related with the local neocortical activation.  相似文献

In patients (34 right-handed) in remote terms of cerebral trauma (CT) characteristics were studied of interhemispheric EEG correlations depending on lateralization of lesion in comparison with healthy subjects (20 right-handed). Disturbance of neuropsychic activity in patients with CT before treatment was accompanied by changes of interhemispheric asymmetry of conjunction in the form of a decrease of coherence values in the injured hemisphere; the decrease of conjunction values of symmetric cortical zones was determined by laterality of the lesion. After treatment the most effective restoration of neuropsychic activity and of interhemispheric EEG correlations was in patients in whose dynamics of the restoration process the stage of the right hemisphere activation was observed. This stage came earlier and restoration period was shorter in patients with the left hemisphere lesion.  相似文献

The EEG mapping study tested age-related changes in power of EEG rhythms from delta to gamma ranges under healthy cognitive aging associated with preserved cognitive abilities and involvement in complex professional activity. 32 subjects of higher age group (HAG, mean age 65.1 +/- 1.18, 14 men and 18 women) and 33 subjects of lower age group (LAG mean age 22.1 +/- 0.38, 18 men and 15 women) participated in the study. Mean power of slow (delta, theta and alpha2) activity decreased and of fast activity (beta, gamma) increased as subject age increased. Compared to subjects of LAG subjects of HAG displayed a reduction in heterogeneity of EEG activity across recording sites. Centro-temporal gradients of power for frequency ranges from delta to beta2 and frontoparietal gradients and hemispheric asymmetry for alpha and beta1 rhythms were smoothed in subjects of HAG. These results suggest that observed age-related changes in baseline EEG may be the prerequisite for compensatory neural recruitment that may be associated as with allocation of more resources in cognitive processes so with reorganization of cortical networks including areas susceptible to physiological changes with aging.  相似文献

Complex analysis of EEG and thermographic parameters carried out in 10 healthy subjects and 34 patients, Chernobyl clean-up participants revealed a correlation between EEG and brain temperature changes in the baseline state and during mental arithmetic. During cognitive activity the maximal increase in the average EEG coherence and temperature shifts in healthy subjects were observed in the left frontotemporal and right parietotemporal areas. In patients changes in both parameters under study were most pronounced, the interhemispheric relations were impaired. The visual analysis revealed "flat" and "hypersynchronous" EEG types in patients. The dominant pathologic activity in the betal range indicative of mediobasal and oral brainstem lesions was characteristic of the flat EEG. This type of activity was observed in 60% of patients. In these cases, a general decrease in EEG coherence and temperature was most pronounced in the left hemisphere. The hypersynchronou EEG type (40% patients) was characterized by paroxysmal activity in the theta and alpha ranges suggesting diencephalic brain lesions. In these cases, EEG coherence and temperature were more variable; changes in the right hemisphere were significant, be it increase or decrease. Our complex approach to investigation of brain activity in different aspects seems to be promising in estimation of the brain functional state both in healthy persons and patients in remote terms after exposure to radiation. The specific hemispheric temperature changes revealed in Chernobyl patients especially during cognitive activity can be the sequels of postradiation disorders of vascular neuro-circulation. The EEG findings suggest subcortical disorders at different levels (diencephalic or brainstem) and functional failure of the right or left hemispheres in remote terms after exposure to radiation.  相似文献

Spatial organization of EEG power and coherence during memorization of dichotically presented lists of words were studied in patients with winter depression (N = 17) and control subjects (N = 22). In contrast to the control subjects, the depressed patients were characterized by the higher theta power in the right parietal and posterior temporal regions and the dominance of the alpha 2 in the left midfrontal area. The patients also differed in the lower theta 2 coherence in the left hemisphere and lower alpha 1 coherence in the right hemisphere. These effects showed different intrahemispheric distribution. The interhemispheric EEG coherence in the theta 2 range between the frontal areas and alpha 1 coherence between the left frontal and right posterior areas was lower in the patients than in the control subjects. Verbal-emotional interaction in depressions are discussed.  相似文献

Two groups of 7-10-year-old children were formed on the basis of the results of visual analysis of their EEG. The first group included 15 children with local EEG deviations in the right hemisphere, and the second group included 21 children without EEG deviations from the age norm (control group). In both groups, verbal and nonverbal higher mental functions and the ability to voluntary control of activity were assessed by means of neuropsychological methods. As compared to children of the control group, children with local EEG deviations in the right hemisphere demonstrated some difficulties in strategy formation, reduced ability to maintain already formed programs, increased fatigue, changes in affective behavior (anxiety and behavioral excitability), deficit of visual and somatosensory perceptual synthesis, reduction in object recognition efficiency, and visual memory deficit.  相似文献

Recognition of noisy pictures of Arabic numerals was accompanied by an increase in EEG coherence in the frontal cortical regions, especially in the left hemisphere, and between the frontal and occipital areas in both left and right hemispheres. Coherence values decreased in the temporo-centro-occipital areas of both hemispheres. A correlation was found between the coherence pattern in the prestimulus period and the quality of subsequent activity. Correct recognition was preceded by left-side asymmetry of the EEG coherence. Before erroneous recognition, EEG coherence levels were higher than before a correct response, and the increase in coherence was widely generalized over the cortex (especially in the Δ, ?, and α1 frequency bands). The frequency of expression of an increased integral EEG coherence was higher before erroneous recognition than before a correct response. These changes in coherence were symmetrical.  相似文献

Correlation and coherence analyses of multichannel electroencephalogram (EEG) recordings from 18 subjects (mean age 25 years) were used for investigating the reorganization of systemic interactions between bioelectric potentials of the cortical areas of both hemispheres (20 EEG derivations) during verbal-mental activity connected with generating verbal units from simpler components. When generating either words from aurally presented phonemes or sentences from a set of words, the subjects exhibited specific changes in the spatial structure of the statistical relationships in the EEG, with a significant increase in the interhemispheric interactions. During performance of both tasks, the changes in the interhemispheric interactions were most pronounced in the temporal, temporo-parieto-occipital (TPO), inferofrontal, and occipital areas of both hemispheres. Phonemic synthesis was associated with a more marked increase in the contralateral interactions in the left hemisphere, and generating sentences from words, in the right hemisphere. The coherence analysis of the EEG showed the greatest changes in the Δ, ?, and β frequency bands, with rather slight changes in the α frequency band. For all frequency bands, changes in the EEG coherences were the greatest in Wernicke’s and the TPO areas of the right and left hemispheres during the performance of both tasks, especially during the phonemic synthesis. These findings suggest that neurophysiological processes underlying mental generation of words and sentences require coordinated activity of the left and right hemispheres, which is accompanied by an increase in the interhemispheric interactions in the EEG, especially in the temporal, inferofrontal, and TPO areas.  相似文献

Visual evoked potentials (VEP) in standard 16 EEG derivations were recorded in 26 young men and 20 women during recognition of facial emotional expressions and geometric figures. The stimuli were presented on a computer screen in the center of the visual field or randomly in the right or left vision hemifields. Peak VEP latency and mean amplitude in 50-ms epochs were measured; spatiotemporal VEP dynamics was analyzed in a series of topographic maps. The right hemisphere was shown to be more important in processing emotional faces. The character of the asymmetry was dynamic: at earlier stages of emotion processing the electrical activity was higher in the right inferior temporal region compared to the left symmetrical site. Later on the activity was higher in the right frontal and central areas. The dynamic mapping of "face-selective" component N180 of VEPs revealed the onset of activation over the right frontal areas that was followed by the fast activation of symmetrical left zones. Notably, this dynamics didn't correlate with the hemifield of stimuli exposition. The degree of asymmetry was lower during presentation of figures, especially in the inferior temporal and frontal regions. The prominent asymmetry of information processes in the inferior temporal and frontal areas was suggested to be specific for recognition of facial expression.  相似文献

The time of a decision of mathematical logical tasks (MLT) was decreased during classical musical accompaniment (power 35 and 65 dB). Music 85 dB did not influence on the process of decision of MLT. Decision without the musical accompaniment led to increasing of coherent function values in beta1, beta2, gamma frequency ranges in EEG of occipital areas with prevalence in a left hemisphere. A coherence of potentials was decreased in EEG of frontal cortex. Music decreasing of making-decision time enhanced left-sided EEG asymmetry The intrahemispheric and the interhemispheric coherences of frontal cortex were increased during the decision of MLT accompanied by music. Using of musical accompaniment 85 dB produced a right-side asymmetry in EEG and formed a focus of coherent connections in EEG of temporal area of a right hemisphere.  相似文献

The motivational condition of hunger and formation of the hunger dominant after daily food deprivation was studied in the conditions of chronic experiments on rabbits. It was shown, that the hunger condition was accompanied by left sided interhemispher asymmetry on indicators of spectral capacity of EEG frontal and right-hand asymmetry sensorimotor areas of the cortex. A hunger dominant was accompanied by falling of spectral capacity of EEG of areas of both hemispheres. The condition of hunger and a hunger dominant were characterized by right-hand asymmetry on average level of EEG coherence of frontal and sensorimotor areas. At transition of a condition of hunger in a hunger dominant there was an average level of EEG coherence decrease in areas of the right hemisphere. Electric processes of the cortex of the brain at a motivational condition of hunger and a hunger dominant were different.  相似文献

Brain bioelectrical activity was studied in 38 and 34 subjects with high and low levels of anxiety, respectively, by means of toposelective mapping of EEG spectral power and recording of P300 endogenous event-related auditory evoked potentials (EPs). Analysis of EEG spectra demonstrated, in the subjects with a high level of trait anxiety, a higher power of β1 oscillations in the central-parietal areas of both hemispheres and the occipital area of the right hemisphere, as well as a higher power of θ and α oscillations in the frontal areas of both hemispheres and the central-parietal area of the left hemisphere. The occipital-frontal gradient of the spectral power of these rhythmic EEG components was altered in subjects with a high level of trait anxiety. Comparison of P300 cognitive auditory EPs in the subjects with high anxiety and in the control group showed that, in the former, the P300 EP amplitude and the habituation distortion (dishabituation) of the P300 EP amplitude were significantly higher in both hemispheres. This indicates that, at a high level of anxiety, the active directed attention was disturbed, which is confirmed by the results of neuropsychological examination, demonstrating reduced selectivity, concentration, and stability of attention in the Münsterberg test and Schulte’s test. The results of electrophysiological examination suggest that the malfunction of regulatory brain modulating systems is an important neurophysiological mechanism of attention pathology and disturbed adaptation in subjects with a high level of trait anxiety.  相似文献

Analysis of EEG coherence performed in 60 healthy adult subjects revealed some changes in the spatial organization of cortical electrical activity produced by complication of the context of cognitive performance (increasing the working memory load). Changes in the degree of coherence of cortical potentials within the local areas were observed already at the stage of the "operative readiness" immediately after the instruction, i.e., representation of the cognitive task sequence in the explicit working memory. The observed changes were different in the anterior (decrease in the degree of coherence) and posterior (increase in coherence) areas of the cortex. Context-related increase in the local coherence was more pronounced in the temporal, parietal, and occipital areas of the left hemisphere than in the right hemisphere.  相似文献

The hypothesis of a predominance of the right hemisphere in stage REM as compared to NREM has been tested through a spectral analysis of the EEG recorded from left (T3) and right (T4) temporal sites in 5 young healthy right-handed male subjects. Variations in the asymmetry coefficient R - L/R + L in different sleep stages have been analyzed by one way ANOVAs and Sheffé's tests. The hypothesis of a progressive increase in left hemisphere activity throughout different REM cycles as one approaches final awakenings have been investigated by comparing variations in the asymmetry coefficient for epochs of REM and stage 2 NREM sampled in different phases of the REM cycle. EEG results do not support either the hypothesized stage dependent or cycle dependent variation in EEG activity during sleep. We question whether variations in EEG amplitude and synchronization can be used as indices of hemispheric asymmetries during sleep.  相似文献
