High quality white light‐emitting diodes (LEDs) employ multi‐component phosphor mixtures to generate light of a high color rendering index (CRI). The number of distinct components in a typical phosphor mix usually ranges from two to four. Here we describe a systematic experimental technique for starting with phosphors of known chromatic properties and arriving at their respective proportions for creating a blended phosphor to produce light of the desired chromaticity. This method is applicable to both LED pumped and laser diode (LD) pumped white light sources. In this approach, the radiometric power in the down‐converted luminescence of each phosphor is determined and that information is used to estimate the CIE chromaticity coordinate of light generated from the mixed phosphor. A suitable method for mixing multi‐component phosphors is also described. This paper also examines the effect of light scattering particles in phosphors and their use for altering the spectral characteristics of LD‐ and LED‐generated light. This is the only approach available for making high efficiency phosphor‐converted single‐color LEDs that emit light of wide spectral width.  相似文献

Near‐UV excited narrow line red‐emitting phosphors, Eu3+‐activated Y2MoO6 systems, were synthesized using a simple molten salt reaction. The structure and photoluminescence characteristics were investigated using X‐ray powder diffraction, UV–Vis absorption and fluorescent spectrophotometry. The excitation spectra show strong broad‐band absorptions in the near‐UV to blue light regions which match the radiation of near‐UV light‐emitting diode chips well. Under excitation of either near‐UV or blue light, intense red emission with a main peak of 611 nm is observed, ascribed to the 5D07F2 transition of Eu3+ ions; the optimal doping concentration is 20 mol%. The chromaticity coordinates (x = 0.65, y = 0.34) of the as‐obtained phosphor are very close to the National Television Standard Committee standard values (x = 0.67, y = 0.33). All these characteristics suggest that this material is a promising red‐emitting phosphor candidate for white‐LEDs based on near‐UV LED chips. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A series of Sr2ZnWO6 phosphors co‐doped with Eu3+, Bi3+ and Li+ were prepared using the Pechini method. The samples were tested using X‐ray diffraction and luminescence spectroscopy. The results show that the samples can be effectively excited by near‐ultraviolet (UV) and UV light. The introduction of Bi3+ and Li+ significantly enhances the fluorescence emission of Sr2ZnWO6:Eu3+ and changes the light emitted by the phosphors from bluish‐green to white. When excited at 371 nm, Sr2–x–zZn1–yWO6:xEu3+,yBi3+,zLi+ (x = 0.05, y = 0.05, z = 0.05, 0.1 and 0.15) samples emit high‐performance white light. Intense red–orange emission is also observed when excited by UV light. The obtained phosphor is a potential white‐emitting phosphor that could meet the needs of excitation sources with near‐UV chips. In addition, this phosphor might have promising application as a red–orange emitting phosphor for white light‐emitting diodes based on UV light‐emitting diodes. Novel hybrid SiO2‐coated CdTe quantum dots (QDs) were created using CdTe QDs coated with a hybrid SiO2 shell containing Cd2+ ions and a sulfur source via a sol–gel process in aqueous solution. Aqueous CdTe QDs with tunable emitting color created through a reaction between cadmium chloride and sodium hydrogen telluride was used as cores for the preparation of hybrid SiO2‐coated CdTe QDs. In our experiments we found that the surface state of the cores and preparation conditions that affect the formation of the hybrid SiO2 shell also greatly affect photoluminescence of the hybrid SiO2‐coated CdTe QDs. The generation of CdS‐like clusters in the vicinity of the CdTe QDs, caused the quantum size effect of the QDs to be greatly reduced, which changes photoluminescence properties of the hybrid QDs fundamentally. Namely, the novel hybrid SiO2 shell played an important role in generating a series of specific optical properties. In addition, the novel hybrid SiO2 shell can be created if no CdTe QD is added. In order to gain an insight into the inter structure of the hybrid shell, we characterized the hybrid SiO2‐coated CdTe QDs using X‐ray diffraction analysis and discuss the formation mechanism of such a hybrid structure. This work is significant because the novel hybrid SiO2‐coated CdTe QDs with its excellent properties can be used in many applications, such as biolabeling and optoelectronic devices. A series of single‐phase full‐color emitting Li2Sr1−x−ySiO4:xDy3+,yEu3+ phosphors were synthesized by solid‐state reaction and characterized by X‐ray diffraction and photoluminescence analyses. The samples showed emission peaks at 488 nm (blue), 572 nm (yellow), 592 nm (orange) and 617 nm (red) under 393 nm excitation. The photoluminescence excitation spectra, comprising the Eu–O charge transfer band and 4f–4f transition bands of Dy3+ and Eu3+, range from 200 to 500 nm. The Commission Internationale de I'Eclairage chromaticity coordinates for Li2Sr0.98−xSiO4:0.02Dy3+,xEu3+ phosphors were simulated. By manipulating Eu3+ and Dy3+ concentrations, the color points of Li2Sr1−x−ySiO4:xDy3+,yEu3+ were tuned from the greenish‐white region to white light and eventually to reddish‐white region, demonstrating that a tunable white light can be obtained by Li2Sr1−x−ySiO4:xDy3+,yEu3+ phosphors. Li2Sr0.98−xSiO4:0.02Dy3+, xEu3+ can serve as a white‐light‐emitting phosphor for phosphor‐converted light‐emitting diode. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A series of Ce3+‐activated blue‐emitting phosphors BaY2Si3O10 (BYSO) was designed and synthesized by a conventional solid‐state method. Upon ultraviolet light (250–370 nm) excitation, the obtained phosphors showed an intense blue emission band centered at 400–427 nm depending on doping concentration, and corresponding to the 5d→4f transition of Ce3+. The effects of doping concentration on crystal structure, emitting color, photoluminescence and photoluminescence excitation spectra, as well as the concentration quenching mechanism were studied in detail. The optimal doping concentration of Ce3+ in this phosphor was demonstrated to be about 0.75% and the concentration quenching mechanism can be ascribed to electric dipole–dipole interactions with a critical distance of ~38 Å. These fine luminescence properties indicate that BYSO:Ce3+ may be a potential blue phosphor for full‐color ultra‐violet (UV) white light emitting diodes (WLEDs).  相似文献

Realizing efficient solid‐state luminescence is of great important to expand quantum dots (QDs) application fields. This work reports the preparation of CdTe@BaCO3 composite by a one‐pot precipitation method. Both steady‐state PL and PL decay characteristics in either solid‐state or colloid solution show no obvious difference, mainly benefited from the effective protection of BaCO3 on QDs from the external environment. By utilizing green and red CdTe QDs as dual‐color emission centers, precise emitting‐color control from green (0.312, 0.667) to red (0.691, 0.292) could be achieved in CdTe@BaCO3 composite by adjusting volume ratio of CdTe solution precursor. Our results demonstrate that this composite material shows bright solid‐state luminescence and facile adjustment of the emitting color in QDs‐based composite is feasible, which could offer new path to design color‐tunable luminescent materials for future optoelectronic applications.  相似文献

Stable photoluminescence QD light‐emitting diodes (QD‐LEDs) were made based on hydrophilic CdTe quantum dots (QDs). A quantum dot‐inorganic nanocomposite (hydrophilic CdTe QDs incorporating dehydrated silica gel) was prepared by two methods (rotary evaporation and freeze drying). Taking advantage of its viscosity, plasticity and transparency, dehydrated silica gel could be coated on the surface of ultraviolet (UV) light LEDs to make photoluminescence QD‐LEDs. This new photoluminescence QD‐LED, which is stable, environmentally non‐toxic, easy to operate and low cost, could expand the applications of hydrophilic CdTe QDs in photoluminescence. CaS:Ce3+ is an efficient green‐emitting (535 nm) phosphor, excitable with blue light (450–470 nm) and was synthesized via a solid‐state reaction method by heating under a reducing atmosphere. The luminescent properties, photoluminescent (PL) excitation and emission of the phosphor were analyzed by spectrofluorophotometry. The excitation and emission peaks of the CaS:Ce3+ phosphor lay in the visible region, which made them relevant for light‐emitting diode (LED) application for the generation of white light. Judd‐Oflet parameters were calculated and revealed that green light emitted upon blue illumination. The prepared phosphor had strong blue absorption at 470 nm and a broad green emission band range from 490–590 nm with the peak at 537 nm. The characteristics of the CaS:Ce3+ phosphor make it suitable for use as a wavelength tunable green emitting phosphor for three band white LEDs pumped by a blue LED (470 nm). The Commission International de l'Eclairage co‐ordinates were calculated by a spectrophotometric method using the spectral energy distribution (0.304, 0.526) and confirm the green emission. The potential application of this phosphor is as a phosphor‐converted white light‐emitting diode. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Red‐emitting Mg4Nb2O9:Eu3+ phosphor is synthesized via a solid‐state reaction method in air, and its crystal structure and luminescence are investigated. The phosphor can be excited efficiently by ~ 395 nm light, coupled well with a ~ 395 nm near‐ultraviolet chip and emits red light at ~ 613 nm with sharp spectra due to 5D07 F2 transition of the Eu3+ ion. Mg4Nb2O9:Eu3+ phosphor sintered at 1350 ºC shows Commission international de I'Eclairage (CIE) chromaticity coordinates of x = 0.6354, y = 0.3592, and is a potential red‐emitting phosphor candidate for white light‐emitting diodes (W‐LEDs) under ~ 395 nm near‐ultraviolet LED chip excitation. The novel red‐emitting phosphors KxSr1?2xMoO4:Pr3+x (0.00 ≤ x ≤ 0.04) were prepared by solid‐state reaction. The crystallization and particle sizes of samples were investigated by powder X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). TEM images were in good agreement with the theoretical calculation data from the XRD patterns. Photoluminescence analysis indicated that there were three excitation peaks under 430–500 nm, and all samples showed the intensely red emission at 648 nm corresponding to the 3P03F2 transition of Pr3+. The concentrations of doping ions, temperature and polyethylene glycol in the phosphor system can significantly influence the intensity of the red emission. The photoluminescence spectral intensity reached its maximum at x = 0.02. The results showed that the investigated phosphor is a potential red phosphor for white light‐emitting diodes. A trivalent rare‐earth ion (Sm3+)‐doped LiNa3P2O7 (LNPO) phosphor was synthesized using a conventional high‐temperature solid‐state reaction route. A predominant orthorhombic phase of LNPO was observed in all X‐ray diffraction patterns. The surface states of the LNPO:Sm phosphor were confirmed by X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Under 401 nm excitation, the Sm‐doped LNPO phosphors showed sharp emission peaks at 563, 600 and 647 nm that are related to the f–f transition of Sm3+ ions. The optimum concentration of Sm3+ (9 mol%) produced Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage chromaticity coordinates, color rendering index and correlated color temperature of (0.564, 0.434), 42 and 1843 K, respectively.  相似文献

A series of Eu3+‐, Ce3+‐, Dy3+‐ and Tb3+‐doped (Y,Gd)BO3 phosphors was synthesized by a solid‐state diffusion method. X‐Ray diffraction confirmed their hexagonal structure and the scanning electron microscopy results showed crystalline particles. The excitation spectra revealed that (Y,Gd)BO3 phosphors doped with Eu3+, Ce3+ , Dy3+ and Tb3+ are effectively excited with near UV‐light of 395 nm/blue light, 364, 351 and 314 nm, respectively. Photoluminescence spectra of Eu3+‐, Ce3+‐ and Tb3+/Dy3+‐doped phosphor showed intense emission of reddish orange, blue and white light, respectively. The phosphor Y0.60Gd0.38BO3:Ce0.02 showed CIE 1931 color coordinates of (0.158, 0.031) and better color purity compared with commercially available blue BAM:Eu2+ phosphor. The phosphor (Y,Gd)BO3 doped with Eu3+, Dy3+ and Tb3+ showed CIE 1931 color coordinates of (0.667, 0.332), (0.251, 0.299) and (0.333, 0.391) respectively. Significant photoluminescence characteristics of the prepared phosphors indicate that they might serve as potential candidates for blue chip and near‐UV white light‐emitting diode applications. Hybrid SiO2‐coated CdTe/CdSe quantum dots (QDs) were prepared using CdTe/CdSe QDs prepared by hydrothermal synthesis. A CdSe interlayer made CdTe/CdSe cores with unique type II heterostructures. The hybrid SiO2‐coated CdTe/CdSe QDs revealed excellent photoluminescence (PL) properties compared with hybrid SiO2‐coated CdTe QDs. Because of the existence of spatial separations of carriers in the type II CdTe/CdSe core/shell QDs, the hybrid QDs had a relatively extended PL lifetime and high stability in phosphate‐buffered saline buffer solutions. This is ascribed to the unique components and stable surface state of hybrid SiO2‐coated CdTe/CdSe QDs. During the stabilization test in phosphate‐buffered saline buffer solutions, both static and dynamic quenching occurred. The quenching mechanism of the hybrid QDs was not suited with the Stern–Volmer equation. However, the relative stable surface of CdTe/CdSe QDs resulted in lower degradation and relative high PL quantum yields compared with hybrid SiO2‐coated CdTe QDs. As a result, hybrid SiO2‐coated CdTe/CdSe QDs can be used in bioapplications. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A series of Ba2P2O7:xEu2+,yCe3+,zTb3+ phosphors was synthesized via a co‐precipitation method, then their crystal structure, quantum efficiency and luminescent properties were analyzed by XRD and FL, respectively. The results showed that these phosphors not only presented the excitation characteristics of Ba2P2O7:xEu2+,zTb3+, but also exhibited that of the Ba2P2O7:yCe3+,zTb3+ phosphor. Meanwhile, the tri‐doped phosphor showed a stronger absorption around 320 nm in contrast with the Eu2+/Ce3+:Tb3+ co‐doped phosphor. Not only can energy transfer from Ce3+→Eu2+ be observed; the energy transfer mechanism from Eu2+ to Tb3+ is discussed in the tri‐doped system. Ce3+ affects the luminescence properties of Ba2P2O7:xEu2+,yCe3+,zTb3+ phosphors just as the sensitizer whereas Eu2+ is considered both as the sensitizer and the activator. The chromaticity coordinates of tri‐doped phosphors excited at 320 nm stayed steadily in the bluish‐white light region, and the emitted color and color temperature (CCT) of these phosphors could be tuned by adjusting the relative contents of Eu2+, Ce3+ and Tb3+. Hence, the single phase Ba2P2O7:xEu2+,yCe3+,zTb3+ phosphors may be considered as potential candidates for white light‐emitting diodes.  相似文献

Ca3SiO4Cl2 co‐doped with Ce3+,Eu2+ was prepared by high temperature reaction. The structure, luminescent properties and the energy transfer process of Ca3SiO4Cl2: Ce3+,Eu2+ were investigated. Eu2+ ions can give enhanced green emission through Ce3+ → Eu2+ energy transfer in these phosphors. The green phosphor Ca2.9775SiO4Cl2:0.0045Ce3+,0.018Eu2+ showed intense green emission with broader excitation in the near‐ultraviolet light range. A green light‐emitting diode (LED) based on this phosphor was made, and bright green light from this green LED could be observed by the naked eye under 20 mA current excitation. Hence it is considered to be a good candidate for the green component of a three‐band white LED. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Zn‐doped CaTiO3:Eu3+ red phosphors for enhanced photoluminescence in white light‐emitting diodes (LEDs) were synthesized by a solid‐state method. The structure and morphology of the obtained phosphor samples were observed by X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the impact of Ca, Zn and Eu content on their photoluminescence properties was studied. The results indicated that Zn not only participates in the formation of defects in suitable lattice matrices but also has a role in flux in the transformation from ZnO to Zn2TiO4, which is beneficial for the enhancement of photoluminescence properties. Photoluminescence test data showed that the Zn‐doped phosphor is excited efficiently by near‐ultraviolet (NUV) light at wavelengths around 398 nm and emits an intense red light with a broad peak around 616 nm corresponding to the 5D07F2 transition of Eu3+. The intensity of this phosphor emission is three times stronger than that without Zn‐doping. Furthermore, this phosphor has very good thermal stability, high color purity and a low sintered temperature, all of which suggest its potential as a promising red phosphor for white LEDs. Rare‐earth ions play an important role in eco‐friendly solid‐state lighting for the lighting industry. In the present study we were interested in Eu3+ ion‐doped inorganic phosphors for near ultraviolet (UV) excited light‐emitting diode (LED) applications. Eu3+ ion‐activated SrYAl3O7 phosphors were prepared using a solution combustion route at 550°C. Photoluminescence characterization of SrYAl3O7:Eu3+ phosphors showed a 612 nm emission peak in the red region of the spectrum due to the 5D07F2 transition of Eu3+ ions under excitation at 395 nm in the near‐UV region and at the 466 nm blue excitation wavelength. These red and blue emissions are supported for white light generation for LED lighting. Structure, bonding between each element of the sample and morphology of the sample were analysed using X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), which showed that the samples were crystallized in a well known structure. The phosphor was irradiated with a 60Co‐γ (gamma) source at a dose rate of 7.2 kGy/h. Thermoluminescence (TL) studies of these Eu3+‐doped SrYAl3O7 phosphors were performed using a Nucleonix TL 1009I TL reader. Trapping parameters of this phosphor such as activation energy (E), order of kinetics (b) and frequency factor (s) were calculated using Chen's peak shape method, the initial rise method and Ilich's method.  相似文献

Mn2+‐doped CdTe quantum dots (QDs) were synthesized directly via a facile surface doping strategy in aqueous solution. The best optical property emerged when the added amount of Mn2+ was 5% compared to Cd2+ in the CdTe nanoparticles and the reaction temperature was 60 °C. The fluorescence and magnetic properties of the QDs were studied. The as‐prepared Mn2+‐doped CdTe QDs have high quantum yield (48.13%) and a narrow distribution with an average diameter of 3.7 nm. The utility of biological imaging was also studied. Depending on the high quantum yield, cells in culture were illuminated and made more distinct from each other compared to results obtained with normal QDs. They also have a prominent longitudinal relaxivity value (r1 = 4.2 mM?1s?1), which could indicate that the Mn2+‐doped CdTe QDs can be used as a potential multimodal agent for fluorescence and magnetic resonance imaging.
