Using bioinformatics analysis, we previously identified salusin-β, an endogenous bioactive peptide with diverse physiological activities. Salusin-β is abundantly expressed in the neuroendocrine system and in systemic endocrine cells/macrophages. Salusin-β acutely regulates hemodynamics and chronically induces atherosclerosis, but its unique physicochemical characteristics to tightly adhere to all types of plastic and glassware have prevented elucidation of its precise pathophysiological role. To quantitate plasma total salusin-β concentrations, we produced rabbit and chicken polyclonal antibodies against the C- and N-terminal end sequences, circumvented its sticky nature, and successfully established a sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Salusin-β was abundantly present in the plasma of healthy volunteers, ranging from 1.9 to 6.6 nmol/L. Reverse phase-high performance liquid chromatography analysis showed that a single immunoreactive salusin-β peak coincided with synthetic authentic salusin-β. Plasma salusin-β concentrations were unaffected by postural changes and by potent vasopressin release stimuli, such as hypertonic saline infusion or smoking. However, salusin-β concentrations showed significant circadian variation; concentrations were high during the daytime and reached the lowest concentrations in the early morning. Plasma salusin-β levels in subjects with diabetes mellitus, coronary artery disease, and cerebrovascular disease showed distinctly higher levels than healthy controls. Patients with panhypopituitarism combined with complete central diabetes insipidus also showed significantly higher plasma salusin-β levels. Therefore, the ELISA system developed in this study will be useful for evaluating circulating total salusin-β levels and for confirming the presence of authentic salusin-β in human plasma. The obtained results suggest a limited contribution of the neuroendocrine system to peripheral total salusin-β concentrations and a role for plasma total salusin-β concentrations as an indicator of systemic vascular diseases.  相似文献

Salusins, identified from a full-length enriched human cDNA library by bioinformatics analyses, show mitogenic, neuromodulatory and hemodynamic activities in rats. They are expressed in a wide variety of human tissues, but their precise structures and levels in human body fluids remain unknown. We developed a radioimmunoassay suitable for the detection of immunoreactive human salusin-alpha and characterized the molecular forms and concentrations of salusin-alpha in human serum and urine. The assay allowed for measurement of immunoreactive salusin-alpha concentrations as low as 1 fmol/tube after extraction of serum with an octyl-silica column, and the concentration required for 50% inhibition of binding was 40 fmol/tube. Cross-reactivities with salusin-beta and other bioactive peptides were negligible. Salusin-alpha-like immunoreactivity in normal human serum and urine ranged from 11.0 to 40.4 pmol/l (mean+/-S.D., 23.3+/-8.1 pmol/l, n=31) and from 18.6 to 367.3 pmol/l (mean+/-S.D., 156.8+/-95.8 pmol/l), respectively. Reverse-phase high performance liquid chromatography coupled with radioimmunoassay detection revealed a major immunoreactive component that coeluted with authentic salusin-alpha. These data indicate the presence of salusin-alpha in human serum and urine, thereby verifying the initially predicted processing sites for salusin-alpha in humans.  相似文献

Objective

Recently, salusin-β has been reported to have pro-atherosclerotic effects, but salusin-α has anti-atherosclerotic effects. Our previous study has shown that salusin-β but not salusin-α promotes vascular inflammation in apoE-deficient mice. However, the underlying mechanism remains unknown. In this study, we observed the effect of salusins on inflammatory responses and the MAPK-NF-κB signaling pathway in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs).

Methods and Results

HUVECs were incubated with different concentrations of salusin-α and salusin-β. The levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) were determined using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The mRNA expressions of vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1) and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) were quantified using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The protein expressions of VCAM-1, MCP-1, I-κBα, NF-κB, p-JNK and p-p38 MAPK were measured using western blotting analysis. Our results showed that in HUVECs, salusin-β could up-regulate the levels of IL-6, TNF-α, VCAM-1 and MCP-1, promote I-κBα degradation and NF-κB activation, and increase the phosphorylation of JNK and p38 MAPK. These effects could be inhibited by p38 MAPK inhibitor SB203580 and/or JNK inhibitor SP600125. In contrast, salusin-α could selectively decrease VCAM-1 protein, but did not show any effect on the expressions of VCAM-1 mRNA, TNF-α, IL-6, MCP-1, I-κBα, NF-κB, p-JNK or p-p38 MAPK.

Conclusion

Salusin-β was able to promote inflammatory responses in HUVECs via the p38 MAPK-NF-κB and JNK-NF-κB pathways. In contrast, salusin-α failed to show any significant effects on the inflammatory responses in HUVECs. These results provide further insight into the mechanisms behind salusins in vascular inflammation and offer a potential target for the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis.  相似文献

PGI2 and 6-keto-PGF were converted to 6-methoxime-PGF (6-MeON-PGF) by treatment with methoxyamine HCl in acetate buffer. The formed 6-MeON-PGF was measured by radioimmunoassay. Antisera were raised in rabbits after immunization against 6-MeON-PGF-BSA conjugate. Diluted 1:20.000 to bind 50% of the tracer (3H-6-MeON-PGF, 100 Ci/mmol), the antiserum cross reacted 0.8% with PGE2, 1% with PGF and less than 0.2% with PGD2, PGF, PGF and TXB2. The radioimmunoassay was used to estimate release of PGI2 and 6-keto-PGF from chopped rabbit renal medulla and cortex incubated in Krebs-Ringer bicarbonate buffer (37°C, 30 min). The 6-keto-PGf radioimmunoassay was validated in biological samples by mass fragmentography. The chopped medulla (n=5) released 38±9 ng/g/min and the cortex (n=5) 4.7±2.0 ng/g/min, while the release of immunoreactive PGE2 (iPGE2) and iPGF was 171±26 and 74±13 ng/g/min from the medulla and 4.3±1.3 and 2.7±0.3 ng/g/min from the cortex, respectively. The results confirm previous findings, which indicate that in the renal medulla prostaglandin endoperoxides are mainly transformed to prostaglandins, while in the cortex transformation to PGI2 seems to be of greater importance.  相似文献

A highly sensitive pre-column HPLC method for simultaneous determination of prolyl dipeptides, Pro and Hyp in urine was developed. The analytes were labelled with 4-(5,6-dimethoxy-2-phthalimidinyl)-2-methoxyphenylsulfonyl chloride at 70°C for 20 min. The derivatives separated on tandem reversed-phase columns by a gradient elution and were monitored with fluorescence detection at 318 nm (excitation) and 392 nm (emission). The detection limits for prolyl dipeptides, Pro and Hyp were 1–5 fmol/injection (S/N=3). Urine samples were treated with o-phthalaldehyde, followed by purification on a Bond Elut C18 column before conducting the labelling reaction. Pro–Hyp, Pro–Gly and Pro–Pro were identified as prolyl dipeptides in urine. The within-day and between-day relative standard deviations were 1.5–4.8 and 1.7–5.8%, respectively. The concentrations of Pro–Hyp, Pro–Gly, Pro–Pro, Pro and Hyp in normal human urine were 97.6±28.2, 2.74±1.48, 2.08±1.13, 6.71±3.34 and 2.30±1.59 nmol/mg creatinine, respectively.  相似文献

This paper describes a method for selective two-step solid-phase extraction of urinary 2,3-dinor-6-ketoprostaglandin F for reliable determination with radioimmunoassay. In the immunoreactivity profile of nonselectively extracted urine after HPLC separation, over 90% of the total 2,3-dinor-6-ketoprostaglandin F immunoreactivity consisted of interfering material coeluting with 6-ketoprostaglandin F and 2,3-dinor-6-ketoprostaglandin F. Among the alkyl silica sorbents studied (methyl, butyl, octyl, and octadecyl), an efficient separation of 2,3-dinor-6-ketoprostaglandin F from 6-ketoprostaglandin F and the lowest immunoreactive concentration of analyte were achieved in extraction on the methyl silica sorbent by elution of 2,3-dinor-6-ketoprostaglandin F with chloroform:hexane (85:15, v/v) from the cartridge. The proportion of specific immunoreactivity could be further increased by two-step extraction of sample on methyl silica cartridges, first at pH 3 and then at pH 10 using diethyl ether:hexane (85:15, v/v) and chloroform as eluent, respectively. After this, a high correlation was found with concentrations of samples determined by radioimmunoassay using three different antisera. A significant correlation of values was also observed between samples measured by radioimmunoassay and those measured by GC-MS. The values of 12-h excretion of 2,3-dinor-6-ketoprostaglandin F in eight volunteers (268 ± 204 ng/g creatinine, mean ± SD) as well as the inhibitory effect of acetylsalicylic acid (74 ± 12%) are in accordance with those reported in the literature. This selective extraction procedure provides a high validity in radioimmunoassay without requiring subsequent TLC or HPLC purification.  相似文献

β-Amyloid peptide (Aβ) 1–42, involved in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease, binds copper ions to form Aβ · Cun complexes that are able to generate H2O2 in the presence of a reductant and O2. The production of H2O2 can be stopped with chelators. More reactive than H2O2 itself, hydroxyl radicals HO (generated when a reduced redox active metal complex interacts with H2O2) are also probably involved in the oxidative stress that creates brain damage during the disease. We report in the present work a method to monitor the effect of chelating agents on the production of hydrogen peroxide by metallo-amyloid peptides. The addition of H2O2 associated to a pre-incubation step between ascorbate and Aβ · Cun allows to study the formation of H2O2 but also, at the same time, its transformation by the copper complexes. Aβ · Cun peptides produce but do not efficiently degrade H2O2. The reported analytic method, associated to precipitation experiments of copper-containing amyloid peptides, allows to study the inhibition of H2O2 production by chelators. The action of a ligand such as EDTA is probably due to the removal of the copper ions from Aβ · Cun, whereas bidentate ligands such as 8-hydroxyquinolines probably act via the formation of ternary complexes with Aβ · Cun. The redox activity of these bidentate ligands can be modulated by the incorporation or the modification of substituents on the quinoline heterocycle.  相似文献

A simple and highly sensitive high-performance liquid chromatographic method for the direct determination of urinary glucuronide conjugates is described. The method is based on the direct derivatization of the glucuronic acid moiety in glucuronide conjugates with 6,7-dimethoxy-1-methyl-2 (1 H)-quinoxalinone-3-propionylcarboxylic acid hydrazide. The derivatization reaction proceeds in aqueous solution in the presence of pyridine and 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide at 0–37°C. The resulting fluorescent derivatives are separated on a C18 column using methanol—acetonitrile—0.5% triethylamine in water (1:1:2, v/v) as mobile phase, and are detected spectrofluorimetrically at 445 nm with excitation at 367 nm. The detection limits (signal-to-noise RATIO = 3) for the glucuronides are 13–48 fmol for an injection volume of 10 μl (130–480 fmol per 5 μl of human urine). The method was applied to the measurement of etiocholanorone-3-glucuronide and androsterone-3-glucuronide in human urine. The method is simple and rapid without conventional liquid—liquid extraction of the glucuronides from urine.  相似文献

A highly specific and sensitive radioimmunoassay has been established for measurement of human endothelin (hET) in human plasma. After extraction of plasma with an octyl-silica column, this assay allowed for detection of immunoreactive (IR) hET as low as 0.2 fmol/ml. In 16 healthy subjects, the mean concentration of plasma IR-hET was 0.6 fmol/ml. Reverse-phase HPLC coupled with radioimmunoassay revealed two major IR-hET components, one corresponding to authentic hET(1-21) and another with more hydrophilicity than hET(1-21). These data indicate that ET is a circulating vasoconstrictor hormone in man.  相似文献

Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is 7α-hydroxylated by the cytochome P450 7B1 (CYP7B1) in the human brain and liver. This produces 7α-hydroxy-DHEA that is a substrate for 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (11β-HSD1) which exists in the same tissues and carries out the inter-conversion of 7α- and 7β-hydroxy-DHEA through a 7-oxo-intermediary. Since the role of 11β-HSD1 is to transform the inactive cortisone into active cortisol, its competitive inhibition by 7α-hydroxy-DHEA may support the paradigm of native anti-glucocorticoid arising from DHEA. Therefore, our objective was to use human tissues to assess the presences of both CYP7B1 and 11β-HSD1. Human skin was selected then and used to test its ability to produce 7α-hydroxy-DHEA, and to test the interference of 7α- and 7β-hydroxy-DHEA and 7-oxo-DHEA with the 11β-HSD1-mediated oxidoreduction of cortisol and cortisone. Immuno-histochemical studies showed the presence of both CYP7B1 and 11β-HSD1 in the liver, skin and tonsils. DHEA was readily 7α-hydroxylated when incubated using skin slices. A S9 fraction of dermal homogenates containing the 11β-HSD1 carried out the oxidoreduction of cortisol and cortisone. Inhibition of the cortisol oxidation by 7α-hydroxy-DHEA and 7β-hydroxy-DHEA was competitive with a Ki at 1.85 ± 0.495 and 0.255 ± 0.005 μM, respectively. Inhibition of cortisone reduction by 7-oxo-DHEA was of a mixed type with a Ki at 1.13 ± 0.15 μM. These findings may support the previously proposed native anti-glucocorticoid paradigm and suggest that the 7α-hydroxy-DHEA production is a key for the fine tuning of glucocorticoid levels in tissues.  相似文献

To evaluate the details of the adrenergic stimulation of urinary prostaglandins in man, ten normal volunteers were given various agonists and antagonists. The effect of 4 hour IV infusions of norepinephrine (NE), NE + phentolamine (PHT), NE + phenoxybenzamine (PHB), NE + prazosin (PZ), isoproterenol (ISO), and PHT alone on urinary PGE2 and PGI2 (6 keto PGF) were determined. PGE2 and 6 keto PGF were measured by radioimmunoassay from 4 hour urine samples. NE stimulated both PGE2 (196±40 to 370±84 ng/4 hrs/g creatinine and 6 keto PGF1α(184±30 to 326±36), both p<0.01. In contrast, ISO had no effect on either PGE2 or 6 keto PGF excretion. Alpha blockade with PHT. PHB, or PZ inhibited the NE induced systemic pressor effect. However, the effect of the alpha blockers on the NE induced stimulation of PGE2 and 6 keto PGF varied. PHT did not alter the NE stimulated PGE2 or 6 keto PGF release (370±84 vs. 381±80) PGE2 and (326±50 vs. 315±40) 6 keto PGF, both p>0.2). PHT alone stimulated only 6 keto PGF. PHB and the specific α1 antagonist PZ similarly eliminated the NE induced prostaglandin release. These results suggest that adrenergically mediated urinary prostaglandin release in man is via an alpha receptor with α1 characteristics.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to determine retinol, retinyl esters and retinol-binding protein (RBP) as well as carotenoids in plasma, urine, liver and kidneys of randomly selected domestic cats. Retinol (240±64 ng/ml, mean±S.D.) represented one-third of total retinyl esters (736±460 ng/ml) in plasma. Retinyl esters were stearate, palmitate and oleate representing 61±6, 36±13 and 5±3% of total retinyl esters, respectively. In half of the cats, retinyl esters (22±21 ng/ml) were found in the urine. Vitamin A in the livers (4317±1956 μg/g) was significantly higher than in the kidney cortex and medulla (14.16±8.92 and 7.59±4.52 μg/g, respectively, both P<0.001). RBP was detected in the plasma but not in the urine. Immunoreactive RBP was observed in hepatocytes and in the cells of the proximal tubules. β-Carotene was present in plasma but never in tissues. The results show that similar to canines differences in vitamin A metabolism in cats are related to the occurrence of retinyl esters in plasma. They differ, however, with regard to the tissue distribution of β-carotene and the excretion of vitamin A in the urine.  相似文献

The reversed-phase HPLC separation of fluorescent o-phthalaldehyde (OPA) derivatives has been applied to the assay of hepatic γ-glutamylcysteine and glutathione (GSH) levels and the enzymes producing these peptides. The method has been compared to the assay using monobromobimane (MB) as the derivatizing agent. The OPA method has the advantage of faster derivitization, the lack of need to adjust the pH, isocratic separation and selectivity for GSH and γ-glutamylcysteine. The MB method requires pH adjustment following derivatization and gradient elution chromatography. MB is also non-selective, yielding fluorescent derivatives of all biological thiols and more interfering peaks on the chromatogram. MB-based analyses are also approximately sixty times more expensive per sample. MB yields fluorescent degradation products on exposure to light. OPA adducts are stable for up to ten days when stored at −20°C. OPA detection is sensitive to 12.5 pmol in the sample, at a signal-to-noise ratio of 2.5. The two methods correlate well. Hepatic γ-glutamylcysteine synthetase in the same liver preparation was found to be 4.85±0.47 nmol min−1 mg−1 protein by the OPA method and 4.42±0.52 nmol min−1 mg−1 protein by the MB method. GSH concentrations were found to be 90.4±6.5 nmol/mg protein for the OPA method and 92.5±3.4 for the MB method.  相似文献

Plasma concentrations of progesterone (P4), estradiol-17β (E2), estrone (E1) and estrone sulfate (E1S) were measured during gestation in eight guanacos kept in captivity. Gestational length was 346.1 ± 9.8 days. P4 plasma concentrations increased after ovulation and remained elevated until parturition. However, during the last 4 weeks of gestation, a gradual decrease from 4.17 × 1.17±1 nmol/L to 2.02 × 1.95±1 nmol/L on day 5 before parturition was observed, followed by a more abrupt final decline to baseline concentrations which were reached on the day after parturition. Mean E2 plasma concentrations started to increase during the eighth month of gestation, and were significantly elevated up to maximum concentrations of 484.7 × 1.21±1 pmol/L during the last 2 months of pregnancy. Concentrations returned to baseline during the last 2 days of gestation. An increase of E1S concentrations (p < 0.01) was observed in the eleventh month of gestation. Mean E1S concentrations remained rather constant during the last 3 weeks of gestation between 4 to 8 nmol/L until parturition, when a steep precipitous decline was observed. E1 concentrations were slightly elevated during the last 4 weeks of gestation, however, maximum concentrations did not exceed 1.5 nmol/L. The results show distinct species specific features of gestational steroid hormone profiles in the guanaco in comparison to domestic South American camelids, such as a more pronounced gradual prepartal decrease of P4 concentrations prior to the final decline to baseline, and clearly lesser E1S concentrations during the last 4 weeks of gestation, which lack a continuous prepartal increase.  相似文献

Marine invasions are a worldwide problem that involves changes in communities and the acclimation of organisms to them. The invasive Chlorophyte Caulerpa racemosa var. cylindracea is widespread in the Mediterranean and colonises large areas from 0 to 70 m in depth. The omnivorous fish Spondyliosoma cantharus presents a high frequency of occurrence of C. racemosa in the stomach contents at invaded areas (76.3%) while no presence of C. racemosa was detected in control areas. The isotopic composition of muscle differed significantly between invaded and non-invaded sites for δ13C (− 16.67‰ ± 0.09 and − 17.67‰ ± 0.08, respectively), δ15N (10.22‰ ± 0.22 and 9.32‰ ± 0.18, respectively) and the C:N ratio (2.01 ± 0.0002 and 1.96 ± 0.009, respectively). Despite the high frequency of occurrence of C. racemosa in the stomach contents of S. cantharus and its important contribution to the δ13C source (20.7% ± 16.2), the contribution of C. racemosa to the δ15N in S. cantharus food sources was very low (6.6% ± 5.8). Other invertebrate prey such as decapods and polychaetes were more important contributors to the δ15N source at both invaded and non-invaded sites. Activation of enzymatic pathways (catalase, superoxide dismutase, glutathione-s-tranferase, 7-ethoxy resorufin O-de-ethylase) but not a significant increase in lipid peroxidation MDA (0.49 ± 0.01 nmol/mg prot at non-invaded and 0.53 ± 0.01 nmol/mg prot at invaded sites) was observed in S. cantharus individuals living in C. racemosa-invaded sites compared with control specimens. The low δ15N contribution values of C. racemosa by S. cantharus together with the toxicity demonstrated by the activation of the antioxidant defences and the important contribution of invertebrate prey to the δ15N could mean that the ingestion of C. racemosa by S. cantharus might be unintentional during the predation of invertebrate preys living underneath the entanglement of the C. racemosa fronds and stolons mats.  相似文献

An enhancement of 17α-hydroxyprogesterone (17α-HP) production from progesterone by biotransformation using hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HPβCD) complexation together with aeration and sonication technique was demonstrated. The progesterone–hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin complex was prepared by co-evaporation method. The percentage yield of 17α-HP from P of 11.26 ± 0.64% at 24 h was observed in Curvularia lunata ATCC 12017. In the complex form of P, together with sonication at 40 kHz for 5 s and aeration, the yield of 17α-HP was increased to 72.92 ± 4.28% which was about 6.5 and 1.3 times of that from the uncomplexed (P) and the complexed (PC), respectively without sonication and aeration. The increased aqueous solubility of P by complexation with HPβCD was the main factor which increased the yield of 17α-HP, while aeration had more effect on P than PC. Sonication did not significantly increased the yield of the product from both P and PC. When both aeration and sonication were used in the PC system, the product yield was increased significantly more than that from P. The result from this study can be applied for the biotransformation of other poor aqueous soluble precursors.  相似文献

The heart rate response to isoproterenol (HR-Iso), density and affinity (kd) of β-adrenergic (β-AR) and muscarinic (M2) receptors were compared among three rodents with different generation-life histories of confinement and of high altitude exposure. The European guinea pig (Cavia porcellus) (EGp), a laboratory animal that arrived in Europe after the Spanish Conquest of South America and the Peruvian guinea pig (C. porcellus) (PGp), a semi-wild animal that came from the altiplano to sea level at least 25 generations ago, were used for intra-species comparison. Wistar rats (WR) were used for inter-species comparison as representative of a typical sea level laboratory animal. The HR-Iso was lower in EGp than in the PGp. The PGp showed the highest β-AR density (P<0.0005) and the highest β-AR kd values (P<0.0005) when compared to both EGp and WR groups (β-AR Bmax (fmol mg−1 prot), WR, 19±4; Egp, 34±10; PGp, 74±15. β-AR kd (pM), WR, 24±10; Egp, 17±7; PGp, 39±14). In contrast, PGp showed lower M2 receptor density values than the EGp (P<0.0005). The WR had the highest M2 receptor densities (M2 Bmax (fmol mg−1 prot), WR, 188±15; Egp, 147±9; PGp, 118±6 and M2 kd (pM), WR, 65±12; Egp, 67±6; PGp, 92±2). The inter and intra-species differences found may be related to their respective history of confinement rather than to their history of exposure to high altitude.  相似文献

Meranzin hydrate (MH), an absorbed bioactive compound from the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Chaihu-Shugan-San (CSS), was first isolated in our laboratory and was found to possess anti-depression activity. However, the role of cytochrome P450s (CYPs) in the metabolism of MH was unclear. In this study, we screened the CYPs for the metabolism of MH in vitro by human liver microsomes (HLMs) or human recombinant CYPs. MH inhibited the enzyme activities of CYP1A2 and CYP2C19 in a concentration-dependent manner in the HLMs. The Km and Vmax values of MH were 10.3±1.3 µM and 99.1±3.3 nmol/mg protein/min, respectively, for the HLMs; 8.0±1.6 µM and 112.4±5.7 nmol/nmol P450/min, respectively, for CYP1A2; and 25.9±6.6 µM and 134.3±12.4 nmol/nmol P450/min, respectively, for CYP2C19. Other human CYP isoforms including CYP2A6, CYP2C9, CYP2D6, CYP2E1 and CYP3A4 showed minimal or no effect on MH metabolism. The aim of this work was to study comparatively the oxidative metabolism in gills and liver of a silverside, Odontesthes nigricans, in their natural environment, the Beagle Channel. Oxidative damage to lipids was evaluated by assessing TBARS and lipid radical content, in gills and liver. Gills showed a significantly higher degree of damage than liver. The content of α-tocopherol, β-carotene and catalase activity showed significantly higher values in the liver than in the gills. The ascorbyl radical (A) content showed no significant differences between gills and liver. The ascorbate (AH) content was 12 ± 2 and 159 ± 28 nmol/mg FW in gills and liver, respectively. Oxidative metabolism at the hydrophilic level was assessed as the ratio A/AH. The ratio A/AH was significantly different between organs, (6 ± 2)10− 5 and (5 ± 2)10− 6, for the gills and the liver, respectively. Both, lipid radical content/α-tocopherol content and lipid radical content/β-carotene content ratios were significantly higher in gills as compared to the values recorded for the liver, suggesting an increased situation of oxidative stress condition in the lipid phase of the gills. Taken as a whole, the O. nigricans liver exhibited a better control of oxidative damage than the gills, allowing minimization of intracellular damage when exposed to environmental stressing conditions.  相似文献
