A new species of the genusEndomycopsis is proposed. It was isolated from waste water, at Montevideo-Uruguay.By its morphological and biochemical proprieties it differs from allEndomycopsis previously described.

Endomycopsis vini andPichia etchellsii,spp.n.

Two new yeast species are described:Endomycopsis vini has been isolated from grapes,Pichia etchellsii from fermenting cucumber brines.     

Endomycopsis platypodis sp.n. (Ascomycetes): an auxiliary ambrosia fungus ofPlatypus cylindrus Fab. (Col. Platypodidae)

A new species of mycelium-forming yeast,Endomycopsis platypodis Baker et van Rij is described. It occurs as an auxiliary ambrosia fungus of the wood-boring ambrosia beetlePlatypus cylindrus Fab. (Col. Platypodidae) and is the first fungus to become established in new tunnels where it forms a sparse irregular lining. Later a palisade-formingSporothrix becomes the dominant fungus in a mixed ambrosial flora. E. platypodis, which is apparently homothallic, assimilates nitrate and weakly ferments glucose. The asci typically contain 4 hat-shaped ascospores. Assimilation reactions and morphology are described and the affinities of the new species are discussed.

Purification and properties of glucoamylase from Endomycopsis sp. 20-9]

Homogenous yeast (Endomycopsis sp. 20-9) glucoamylase was isolated from cultural medium. The homogeneity of the enzyme preparation is demonstrated by means of polyacrylamide gel disc electrophoresis, isofocusing and ultracentrifugation. Amino acid composition, molecular weight (53 000), sedimentation constant (4.3S) and isoelectric point (pI 3.80-3.82) of the enzyme are determined. Glucoamylase is found to be glucoprotein.     

Eimeria lemuris n. sp., E. galago n. sp. and E. otolicni n. sp. from a Galago Galago senegalensis

SYNOPSIS. Three new species of Eimeria are described from the intestinal contents of a galago Galago senegalensis E. Geoff. imported into the Amsterdam Zoo from Africa. The oocysts of E. lemuris n.sp. are 44-57 by 38-47 μ and contain 4 sporocysts measuring 17-20 by 10.5–14 μ. The oocysts of E. galago n.sp. are 20-25 by 19-23 μ and contain 4 sporocysts measuring 9-12 by 6-9 μ. The oocysts of E. otolicni n.sp. are 23-31 by 22-28 μ and contain 4 sporocysts measuring 10-15 by 8-12 μ. A few Isospora resembling I. arctopitheci Rodhain, 1933 were seen.     

Penicillium korosum sp.n.

A new species ofPenicillium belonging to theP.funiculosum series of the Biverticillata — Symmetrica section is described from the rhizosphere ofBrassica campestris var.toria. The species is characterized by the presence of penicilli with 8–12 metulae on malt-extract agar and a very limited sporulation on Czapek-Dox agar. Brettanomyces abstinens sp.n.

A new yeast is described,Brettanomyces abstinens, isolated from ginger ale in the U.S.A. This species differs from all the presently acceptedBrettanomyces species by not assimilating trehalose.
