A new species of mycelium-forming yeast,Endomycopsis platypodis Baker et van Rij is described. It occurs as an auxiliary ambrosia fungus of the wood-boring ambrosia beetlePlatypus cylindrus Fab. (Col. Platypodidae) and is the first fungus to become established in new tunnels where it forms a sparse irregular lining. Later a palisade-formingSporothrix becomes the dominant fungus in a mixed ambrosial flora.
E. platypodis, which is apparently homothallic, assimilates nitrate and weakly ferments glucose. The asci typically contain 4 hat-shaped ascospores. Assimilation reactions and morphology are described and the affinities of the new species are discussed. 相似文献

Homogenous yeast (Endomycopsis sp. 20-9) glucoamylase was isolated from cultural medium. The homogeneity of the enzyme preparation is demonstrated by means of polyacrylamide gel disc electrophoresis, isofocusing and ultracentrifugation. Amino acid composition, molecular weight (53 000), sedimentation constant (4.3S) and isoelectric point (pI 3.80-3.82) of the enzyme are determined. Glucoamylase is found to be glucoprotein. 相似文献

SYNOPSIS. Three new species of Eimeria are described from the intestinal contents of a galago Galago senegalensis E. Geoff. imported into the Amsterdam Zoo from Africa. The oocysts of E. lemuris n.sp. are 44-57 by 38-47 μ and contain 4 sporocysts measuring 17-20 by 10.5–14 μ. The oocysts of E. galago n.sp. are 20-25 by 19-23 μ and contain 4 sporocysts measuring 9-12 by 6-9 μ. The oocysts of E. otolicni n.sp. are 23-31 by 22-28 μ and contain 4 sporocysts measuring 10-15 by 8-12 μ. A few Isospora resembling I. arctopitheci Rodhain, 1933 were seen. 相似文献

A new species ofPenicillium belonging to theP.funiculosum series of the Biverticillata — Symmetrica section is described from the rhizosphere ofBrassica campestris var.toria. The species is characterized by the presence of penicilli with 8–12 metulae on malt-extract agar and a very limited sporulation on Czapek-Dox agar.
