New taxa and name changes in tropical Asiatic Rubiaceae

Four new genera, viz. Deccania Tirveng., Dioecrescis Tirveng., Fagerlindio Tirveng., Kailarsenia Tirveng., one new subgenus, viz. Aidia subgen. Lankaidia Tirveng., seven new species and thirty four of new combinations for South and South East Asia are published, pending the publication of the generic delimitation and revision of the Rubiaceae–Gardenieae in forthcoming flora treatments. New combinations are also included for a few taxa from Malesia, Indonesia and the Philippines.     

New records of the genus Iporhogas Granger (Hymenoptera,Braconidae, Rogadinae) from Vietnam,with description of four new species

The genus Iporhogas Granger, 1949 (Braconidae: Rogadinae) is recorded for the first time for Vietnam. Four new species of the genus Iporhogas, viz. Iporhogas albilateralis sp. n., I. contrastus sp. n., I. simulatus sp. n. and I. tricoloratus sp. n., from Vietnam are described and illustrated, and additionally, one species, Iporhogas guangxiensis Chen & He, 1997, is newly recorded for Vietnam’s fauna of the family Braconidae. A key to the five Vietnamese species of the genus Iporhogas and a checklist with distributions of the ten species are provided.     

Biogeography of polypores in Malesia,Southeast Asia

Biogeography of polypores distributed in the Malesian region is reviewed. Some of the species reported from this region are pantropical or paleotropical and widely distributed along the equator. Several species are restricted to lowland areas of Malesia and adjacent regions, and can be classified as Asian or Asian-Oceanian tropical species. Some species have only been recorded from lowland areas of Malesia at present, but detailed distributions are unclear for many of them. Some lowland Malesian species are also distributed in temperate areas of East Asia; among them, few species are circumglobal in the Northern Hemisphere, whereas many others are tropical species showing continuous distributions up to the warm temperate areas of East Asia. Species recorded from highland areas of Malesia include tropical species common to lowland Malesia, temperate species common to temperate Asia, and endemic species in highland areas of Malesia and adjacent regions. Regarding the factors that delimitate distribution of the Malesian polypores, I discuss polypore host preference, response to physical environmental factors, and dispersal ability. Systematics and ecological characteristics are briefly discussed for selected Malesian polypores: Corneroporus subcitrinus, Paratrichaptum accuratum, Postia stellifera and Roseofavolus eos.     

Cicadas (Hemiptera: Cicadidae) from Panay,Philippines, with a new species and a new genus

This paper provides the first faunal checklist for Cicadidae (Hemiptera) from Panay, Philippines, comprising five species belonging to five genera. A new species, Platypleura lourensi sp. nov., and a new genus, Ggomapsalta gen. nov., are described. Dundubia vaginata (Fabricius, 1787) and Ggomapsalta vernalis (Distant, 1916) are newly recorded from Panay. Information on geographic distributions is provided.     

A new family of Strepsiptera parasitizing fruit flies (Tephritidae) in Australia

ABSTRACT. A new family of Strepsiptera (Dipterophagidae) from Australia containing a new genus and species ( Dipterophagus daci ) is described and figured. This is the first species of Strepsiptera to be described as a parasite of Diptera. D.daci is recorded from ten fruit fly species, viz Dacus aquilonis (May), D.bellulus Drew, D.cacuminatus (Hering), D.decurtans (May), D.mayi Hardy, D.neohumeralis Hardy, D.peninsularis Drew, D.tenuifascia (May), D.tryoni (Froggatt) and Dacus sp. n. ( near musae ). Gregarious parasitism (two to six adult parasites per fly) is common.     

A contribution to the knowledge of Agathidinae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) from Iran with description of a new species

The subfamily Agathidinae was studied in parts of northern Iran. Six species were collected and identified. Among them, Cremnops desertor (L., 1758) is recorded for the first time from Iran. Lytopylus persicus Farahani & Talebi sp. n. is described and illustrated. A key to the West Palaearctic species of the genus Lytopylus Förster and an updated checklist of Iranian Agathidinae are provided.     

The Strongylophthalmyiidae (Diptera) of Papua New Guinea,with descriptions of five new species and a world checklist

Eight species of the Strongylophthalmyiidae are reported from Papua New Guinea. Of these, five species (Strongylophthalmyia gigantica sp. nov., S. papuana sp. nov., S. rubella sp. nov., S. sedlaceki sp. nov. and S. shatalkini sp. nov.) are described as new to science. Strongylophthalmyia puncticollis Frey is recorded for the first time from Papua New Guinea. Faunistic remarks, a key to the species of the Strongylophthalmyia in Papua New Guinea and a world checklist are provided.     

Checklist of tortoise beetles (Coleoptera,Chrysomelidae, Cassidinae) from Colombia with new data and description of a new species

A new tortoise beetle species, Cyrtonota abrili, is described from the Antioquia and Caldas departments in Colombia. New faunistic data are provided for 87 species, including 16 new additions to the country’s fauna. A checklist of the known 238 species of tortoise beetles recorded from Colombia is given.     

Review of the genus Hartemita Cameron, 1910 (Hymenoptera, Braconidae, Cardiochilinae), with the description of six new species from Vietnam

The Oriental and East Palaearctic genus Hartemita Cameron, 1910 (Braconidae: Cardiochilinae) is recorded for the first time from Vietnam. Sixteen species of the genus Hartemita are currently recognized from Oriental and East Palaearctic regions. One species is newly recorded for Vietnam, Hartemita singaporensis (Mao, 1945)and six new species from Vietnam are described and illustrated: Hartemita coffeanasp. n., Hartemita daklakasp. n., Hartemita khuatbaolinhaesp. n., Hartemita similissp. n., Hartemita maculatasp. n. and Hartemita vietnamicasp. n. A key to species of the genus Hartemita Cameron is included.     

中国两栖、爬行动物更新名录

本文在2015年发表的爬行动物名录及同年《中国两栖类信息系统》发布的两栖动物名录的基础上, 通过整理新发表的分类学研究及先前名录遗漏的部分早期文献, 更新了截至2019年底中国现生本土两栖、爬行动物物种名录。2015-2019年间, 中国两栖动物新记录1科, 新描述2属, 恢复1属有效性, 新记录1属, 新描述或恢复有效种74种, 新增国家纪录18种; 另6属、8种的有效性未得到近年研究证据支持(在此视为次定同物异名而未做收录, 后同)。同期, 中国爬行动物新恢复5科, 新描述1亚科, 新描述1属, 恢复3属有效性, 新记录3属, 新描述、恢复或提升有效种43个, 新增国家纪录10种; 另有5属、4种的有效性未得到近年研究证据支持, 并移除1属、4种在我国的分布纪录。此外, 通过整理2015年前文献, 爬行动物增补3属, 提升3亚种至种级地位, 增补国家新纪录3种, 另有3属、2种的有效性未得到近年研究证据支持, 同时移除1种在我国的分布纪录。综上, 截至2019年底, 我国共记录现生本土两栖动物3目13科62属515种(蚓螈目1科1属1种, 有尾目3科14属82种, 无尾目9科47属431种), 爬行动物3目35科135属511种(鳄形目1科1属1种, 龟鳖目6科18属34种, 有鳞目蛇亚目18科73属265种、蜥蜴亚目10科43属211种)。此外, 本文还对先前名录中部分爬行动物的中文名提出了修改建议, 建议恢复部分物种的惯用中文名。2015-2019年, 新物种及新纪录已知物种数量占现两栖、爬行动物物种总数的17.1%和10.2%。近年来, 我国发表的两栖、爬行动物新物种和已知物种的新纪录数量持续增加, 分类体系也在研究中不断完善, 建议今后及时地进行阶段性总结, 同时对存在的问题提出讨论, 以推动中国两栖、爬行动物分类学研究工作的进一步开展。     

西双版纳地区的陆生等足类(甲壳亚门:等足目:潮虫亚目)

A revision of Ptychopyxis (Euphorbiaceae) in southeast Asia

Ptychopyxis is a genus comprised of 11 species. Nine are found in southeast Asia mainland and west Malesia and two species are endemic to New Guinea. One of the endemic New Guinean species is newly described here, viz. P. esdras Stoops sp. nov.     

Larvae and a new species of Ancyronyx Erichson, 1847 (Insecta, Coleoptera, Elmidae) from Palawan, Philippines, using DNA sequences for the assignment of the developmental stages

Ancyronyx montanussp. n. is described based on adults and larvae, matched using their cox1 DNA sequence data. Larvae of six additional species of Ancyronyx Erichson, 1847 were also described here for the first time, aided by cox1 or cob data: Ancyronyx helgeschneideri Freitag & J?ch, 2007, Ancyronyx minerva Freitag & J?ch, 2007, Ancyronyx patrolus Freitag & J?ch, 2007, Ancyronyx procerus J?ch, 1994, Ancyronyx punkti Freitag & J?ch, 2007, Ancyronyx pseudopatrolus Freitag & J?ch, 2007. Ancyronyx procerus is newly recorded from the Philippines by a larval specimen from Busuanga island. The new species and larval stages are described in detail and illustrated by digital and SEM images. A key to the Ancyronyx larvae of Palawan and an updated checklist of Philippine Ancyronyx is provided.     

Three new species,four new records and an updated checklist of Habenaria (Orchidaceae) from Rio Grande do Sul,Brazil

Three new species of Habenaria (Orchidaceae) section Nudae from Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil, are described and illustrated: Habenaria australis, H. kleinii and H. sobraliana. These are the first records of H. sect. Nudae for the state. Based on the examination of living and dried specimens, a total of 33 species and 400 collections of Habenaria were recorded for Rio Grande do Sul. Based on this survey, an updated checklist of the genus Habenaria for Rio Grande do Sul has been compiled. Four species are known only from this state, while seven other species are restricted to southern Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. Habenaria hieronymi, previously known only from Argentina, is recorded for the first time from Brazil, and H. brachyphyton, H. ekmaniana and H. melanopoda are new records for Rio Grande do Sul.     

Annotated catalogue of the Haliplidae of China with the description of a new species and new records from China (Coleoptera, Adephaga)

A revised checklist of Haliplidae (Coleoptera: Adephaga) of China is presented. A new species Haliplus (Haliplus) latreilleisp. n. is described from Guizhou, China. Three species, Haliplus (Haliplidius) confinis Stephens, Haliplus (Haliplus) ruficollis (De Geer) and Haliplus (Haliplus) sibricus Motschulsky are reported from China for the first time. Haliplus dalmatinus Müller is excluded from the list of Chinese species. A number of new provincial records from China is presented.     

Genus Autosticha Meyrick (Lepidoptera: Autostichidae) from Taiwan,China

Fourteen species of the genus Autosticha Meyrick,1886 are recorded from Taiwan,China.The genus Cynicocrates Meyrick,1935 is proposed as a new synonym of Autosticha,and its type species A.tachytoma (Meyrick,1935) comb.nov.is transferred to Autosticha.Autosticha cordiformis sp.nov.is described as new,and A.tachytoma is redescribed with male for the first time.A checklist of all the described species in Taiwan is given.Photographs of the new species and the newly combined species are provided.     

The freshwater snails (Gastropoda) of Iran, with descriptions of two new genera and eight new species

Using published records and original data from recent field work and revision of Iranian material of certain species deposited in the collections of the Natural History Museum Basel, the Zoological Museum Berlin, and Natural History Museum Vienna, a checklist of the freshwater gastropod fauna of Iran was compiled. This checklist contains 73 species from 34 genera and 14 families of freshwater snails; 27 of these species (37%) are endemic to Iran. Two new genera, Kaskakia and Sarkhia, and eight species, i.e., Bithynia forcarti, Bithynia starmuehlneri, Bithynia mazandaranensis, Pseudamnicola georgievi, Kaskakia khorrasanensis, Sarkhia sarabensis, Valvata nowsharensis and Acroloxus pseudolacustris are described as new to science; Ecrobia grimmi (Clessin & Dybowski, 1888), Heleobia dalmatica (Radoman, 1974) and Hippeutis complanatus (Linnaeus, 1758) are reported for the first time from Iran. Additional field work is highly desirable for a more appropriate evaluation of the extant freshwater snail biodiversity in Iran.     

An annotated checklist of sea snakes of Vietnam, with notes on a new record of the yellow-lipped sea krait, Laticauda colubrina (Schneider, 1799) (Laticaudidae, Hydrophiidae)

The yellow-lipped sea krait, Laticauda colubrina (Schneider, 1799), is recorded in the waters of Vietnam for the second time. The morphological characteristics of this species are described. Identification keys, a checklist, and distribution data for sea snakes of Vietnam are provided, proceeding from museum collections and extensive analysis of the available literature. Thalassophis anomalus P. Schmidt, 1852 and Leioselasma melanocephala (Gray, 1849) are registered for the first time for Vietnamese waters.     

Two new Lesteva Latreille (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Omaliinae) from Longwangshan Mountain, East China

Two new species of Lesteva Latreille are described and illustrated from Longwangshan Mountain, East China, viz. Lesteva cala Ma & Li, sp. n. and Lesteva erythra Ma & Li, sp. n. The latest key to Chinese Lesteva is modified to include the species described from continental China since 2000.     

Family Hilarimorphidae (Diptera) newly recorded from China with descriptions of three new species

The family Hilarimorphidae is reported from China for the first time. Three new species are described and illustrated: Hilarimorpha dingae sp. nov., Hilarimorpha elongata sp. nov. and Hilarimorpha tibetensis sp. nov. A key to species of Hilarimorpha from Asia and a checklist of world species of Hilarimorphidae are provided.
