Thirty-nine human isolates of Campylobacter jejuni obtained from a national university hospital during 2007–2010 and 38 chicken isolates of C. jejuni were collected from poultry farms during 2009–2010 in South Korea were used in this study. Campylobacter genomic species and virulence-associated genes were identified by PCR. Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and multilocus sequence typing (MLST) were performed to compare their genetic relationships. All isolates were highly resistant to ciprofloxacin, nalidixic acid, and tetracycline. Of all isolates tested, over 94% contained seven virulence associated genes (flaA, cadF, racR, dnaJ, cdtA, cdtB, and cdtC). All isolates were classified into 39 types by PFGE clustering with 90% similarity. Some chicken isolates were incorporated into some PFGE types of human isolates. MLST analysis for the 39 human isolates and 38 chicken isolates resulted in 14 and 23 sequence types (STs), respectively, of which 10 STs were new. STs overlapped in both chicken and human isolates included ST-21, ST-48, ST-50, ST-51, and ST-354, of which ST-21 was the predominant ST in both human and chicken isolates. Through combined analysis of PFGE types and STs, three chicken isolates were clonally related to the three human isolates associated with food poisoning (VII-ST-48, XXII-ST-354, and XXVIII-ST-51). They were derived from geographically same or distinct districts. Remarkably, clonal spread of food poisoning pathogens between animals and humans was confirmed by population genetic analysis. Consequently, contamination of campylobacters with quinolone resistance and potential virulence genes in poultry production and consumption may increase the risk of infections in humans.  相似文献

Thirty-seven clinical isolates of C. neoformans were recovered from AIDS patients and all were serotype A according to standard typing tests. They were further analyzed using RAPD, PCR fingerprinting, and PFGE along with 2 additional reference isolates ATCC 34871 (serotype A) and RV 45981 (serotype D). Using 2 different RAPD primers, all of the clinical isolates and the reference serotype A (ATCC 34871) gave similar RAPD patterns while serotype D (RV 45981) gave distinctive pattern. Corresponding result was also obtained upon PCR by using a primer for microsatellite (GACA)4. However, using a primer specific to minisatellite M13 + 1, all PCR fingerprinting gave similar gel patterns (M1) for 35/37 of the clinical isolates and the reference serotype A while two clinical isolates generated different patterns called M2 and M3. The reference serotype D gave distinctive pattern called M4. PFGE gave 17 different karyotypes that could be categorized into 4 groups named EKA (1–6), EKB (1–5), EKC (1– 5) and EKD (1). The reference serotype A fell into group EKA as EKA6 while the reference serotype D fell into group EKC as EKC5. Among the clinical isolates, EKA group (20/37 isolates) and type EKA1 (16/20) dominated with only one isolate each for types EKA2 to EKA5. The next most prevalent was group EKB (12/37 isolates) which dominately fell in type EKB1 (8/12) and only one isolate each for types EKB2 to EKB5. Group EKC (4/37 isolates) and group EKD (1/37) had only one isolate for each type (EKC1 to EKC 4 and EKD1). The 2 predominant karyotypes (EKA1, 16/37 and EKB1, 8/37) may represent two originally common clones of C. neoformans expose among the patients. The high discriminatory power of PFGE infers the benefit of subtyping which lead to better understanding on the epidemiology and pathogenic potential of C. neoformans subtypes. Moreover, PCR fingerprinting and RAPD infer the feasibility of detail analysis between serotypes A and D for unencapsulated C. neoformans.  相似文献

A total of 560 Legionella species were isolated from environmental water sources from public facilities from June to September 2008 throughout South Korea. The distribution of Legionella isolates was investigated according to geographical region, facility type, and sample type. The genetic diversity of 104 isolates of Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 (sg 1) was analyzed by sequence-based typing (SBT). L. pneumophila was distributed broadly throughout Korea, accounting for 85.0% of the isolates, and L. pneumophila sg 1 predominated in all of the public facilities except for the springs. Legionella anisa and Legionella bozemanii predominated among non-L. pneumophila species (48.1% and 21.0%, respectively). The second most dominant strain differed depending on the facility type: L. anisa was the second most dominant strain in the buildings (10.8%), L. pneumophila sg 5 in public baths (21.6%), L. pneumophila sg 6 in factories (12.0%), and L. pneumophila sg 7 in hospitals (13.1%). In the SBT analysis, 104 L. pneumophila sg 1 isolates were differentiated into 26 sequence types (STs) and categorized into 3 clonal groups (CGs) and 10 singleton STs via the eBURST V3 program. ST1, a potential founder of major CG1, was commonly distributed (48.1%). The dominant ST in hot water was ST-K1 (7, 12, 17, 3, 35, 11, 11), which was designated in this study (36.1%). The second most dominant strain differed depending on the type of facility from which the samples were obtained. The unique allelic profile of ST-K1, obtained from hot water, was not found in the European Working Group for Legionella Infections (EWGLI) SBT database.Legionella species, ubiquitous Gram-negative bacteria, are found in a variety of artificial water systems, natural freshwaters, and soils. Currently, the Legionella genus includes 52 species and more than 70 different serogroups, and more than 20 species have been proven to be causative agents of Legionnaires'' disease (LD). The species Legionella pneumophila accounts for approximately 90% of confirmed cases of legionellosis, and L. pneumophila serogroup 1 (sg 1) has been recognized as the most important agent in this regard, as that specific strain was initially implicated as the pathogen causative of LD in 1977 (15; http://www.bacterio.cict.fr/l/legionellaceae.html). The other non-L. pneumophila sg 1 strains, sg 2 to 15, accounted for 7.4% of cases, and Legionella longbeachae (3.9%) and Legionella bozemanii (2.4%) have also been associated with the pathogen of LD. In particular, L. longbeachae has been recognized as accounting for 30.4% of community-acquired Legionella isolates in Australia and New Zealand (53).The most common transmission mechanism of legionellosis is the inhalation of aerosols from the water systems of artificial facilities, including large buildings, hotels, hospitals, public baths, spas, or decorative fountains contaminated by Legionella species (1). Therefore, hot water and water from cooling towers have been perceived as sources of infection in cases of community-acquired, nosocomially acquired, or travel-associated LD (15, 26, 31, 37, 38, 39, 41, 43). Thus, it is important from a public health perspective to continually survey environmental water systems for the presence of Legionella species (2, 34, 35). In particular, hot-water systems used as public baths, such as springs, spas, or tubs, have become a popular means of recreation in a lot of countries, including South Korea. The contamination of hot-water systems has gradually become recognized as an important risk factor all over the world (4, 12, 18, 23, 42, 50), as sources of legionellosis have been detected increasingly since 1982 (52) and many cases of nosocomially acquired (32, 51) and community-acquired (6, 7, 48) LD have been detected in Legionella-contaminated hot-water systems or hot springs.In South Korea, several cases of nosocomial infection and community-acquired pneumonia have occasionally been reported (9, 45) since the first recognized outbreak in South Korea in 1984, which was associated with Legionella gormanii (27). Since 2006, the Korean National Infectious Disease Surveillance (NIDS) program (http://dis.cdc.go.kr/) has reported an average of 20 cases of LD per year (29). In South Korea, surveys of Legionella acquired from environmental water in public facilities such as hot springs and public baths has been gradually enhanced since 2007. An annual training program for the detection of Legionella species from environmental water systems and clinical specimens is currently conducted for the personnel of 16 Provincial Institute of Health and Environment locations (PIHEs) throughout South Korea. Recently, the rate of detection of environmental Legionella bacteria has been gradually increasing (8.1% in 2006, 9.4% in 2007, and 10.3% in 2008).The principal objectives of this study were to assess the current distribution of Legionella species from environmental water sources from public facilities such as buildings, hotels, public baths, springs, hospitals, or factories throughout South Korea. Additionally, the molecular typing of L. pneumophila sg 1 isolates was conducted using sequence-based typing (SBT) to assess the genetic diversity among the isolates.  相似文献

Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 causes Legionnaires'' disease. Water systems contaminated with Legionella are the implicated sources of Legionnaires'' disease. This study analyzed L. pneumophila serogroup 1 strains in China using sequence-based typing. Strains were isolated from cooling towers (n = 96), hot springs (n = 42), and potable water systems (n = 26). Isolates from cooling towers, hot springs, and potable water systems were divided into 25 sequence types (STs; index of discrimination [IOD], 0.711), 19 STs (IOD, 0.934), and 3 STs (IOD, 0.151), respectively. The genetic variation among the potable water isolates was lower than that among cooling tower and hot spring isolates. ST1 was the predominant type, accounting for 49.4% of analyzed strains (n = 81), followed by ST154. With the exception of two strains, all potable water isolates (92.3%) belonged to ST1. In contrast, 53.1% (51/96) and only 14.3% (6/42) of cooling tower and hot spring, respectively, isolates belonged to ST1. There were differences in the distributions of clone groups among the water sources. The comparisons among L. pneumophila strains isolated in China, Japan, and South Korea revealed that similar clones (ST1 complex and ST154 complex) exist in these countries. In conclusion, in China, STs had several unique allelic profiles, and ST1 was the most prevalent sequence type of environmental L. pneumophila serogroup 1 isolates, similar to its prevalence in Japan and South Korea.  相似文献

Edwardsiella tarda is the predominant bacterium in farm‐cultured eel in Korea. Here, we evaluated the heterogeneity of 37 E. tarda isolates derived from Japanese eel with various origins (olive flounder, common carp and ornamental fish) between 2003 and 2010. Regardless of origins, the biochemical characteristics of E. tarda isolates were homogenous except hydrogen sulfide production, citrate utilization and mannitol fermentation. Based on the phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA, E. tarda isolates could be classified into two subgroups and displayed a close relation with Edwardsiella ictaluri and Edwardsiella hosinae lineages, suggesting that the subgroup I has been a predominant type in the Jeonnam and Jeonbuk provinces. I‐CeuI‐based pulsed‐field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) typing showed that the isolates from Japanese eels belonged to 11 pulsotypes, indicating that the presence of highly genomic diversity. Additionally, two isolates, ET‐060 and ET‐191, showed a high frequency of virulence genes (100%) and caused 90% and 60% mortality in Japanese eel, respectively. This finding suggests a substantial congruence of virulence gene profiles and pathogenicity. Our results demonstrate that the intraspecific diversity within E. tarda strains from Japanese eel has been in prior existence.

Significance and Impact of the Study

Based on the biochemical characteristics, the phylogenetic property of the 16S rRNA gene and PFGE types of Edwardsiella tarda, we could identify the intraspecific diversity of isolates from Japanese eel, Anguilla japonica in Korea. In addition, this study describes the strong congruence of virulence‐related genes and pathogenicity, suggesting that the virulence profile may be useful tool for prediction of pathogenicity.  相似文献

The investigation was carried out to elucidate the molecular characteristics and resistant mechanisms of imipenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii. Thirty-seven isolates were collected from January 2007 to December 2007. The homology of the isolates was analyzed by both pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and multilocus sequence typing (MLST). The genes of β-lactamases, adeB, and class 1 integron were polymerase chain reaction amplified. Genotype analysis of the 37 A. baumannii isolates by PFGE revealed the circulation of four PFGE types (A-D); the A- and B-type accounted for 48.6% and 40.5%, respectively. MLST showed the existence of three allelic profiles. The agar dilution method was carried out to determine the MIC of imipenem, in the absence or presence of carbonyl cyanide m-chlorophenylhydrazone (CCCP, 10 μg/ml). The MICs of the strains to imipenem were between 16 μg/ml and 128 μg/ml. When CCCP was added, a MIC decrease of at least four-fold was observed in 20 isolates, which belonged to the A- or C-type. AdeB and bla PER-1 genes were each detected in 35 isolates, bla OXA-23 gene in 34 isolates and bla OXA-58-like gene in 24 isolates. All isolates harbored bla OXA-51-like genes. No isolates carried the bla IMP-1 gene. Integron was detected in 25 isolates, which mediated the resistance to aminoglycosides and rifampin. The epidemiologic data suggested that the increasing infection of A. baumannii in our hospital was mainly caused by the inter-hospital spread of two epidemic clones. The AdeABC efflux system may be the important factor that leads to the high level of imipenem-resistance in PFGE A-type.  相似文献

The few studies that have reported the incidence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in Saudi Arabia have indicated that a diverse number of circulating MRSA strains have been detected in several major hospitals. Thus, this study was designed to track the presence of MRSA strains in major hospitals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and perform comparative chromosomal DNA analysis of MRSA strains for epidemiological investigation using pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE). Correlation of the PFGE types generated with microbiological and clinical data of the isolates was attempted. Screening for decreased susceptibility to vancomycin among the isolates was also done. A dendogram was generated using PFGE macrorestriction fragments and 6 types were identified (M1-M6) with M1 being predominant and widespread. A clear link between PFGE types and some clinical and microbiological data available for the strains was found. For example, M1 was statistically associated with male patients, whereas the unique types were associated with female patients, M2 was associated with isolates from wounds and age group <5 years, and M4 was associated with isolates from patients admitted to intensive care units. M5 was highly correlated with low sensitivity to linezolid. No vancomycin-resistant isolates were detected.  相似文献

We analyzed 66 Salmonella Enteritidis isolates in 2002. Thirty isolates were obtained from human patients with diarrhea, and 36 were obtained from chickens. A total of ten phage types (PT) were identified in the human and chicken isolates. PT1 and PT21 were the predominant PTs in both the human (20% and 13%) and chicken (17% and 47%) isolates. Twelve pulsotypes were generated by PFGE and divided into two major groups. Most of the PFGE types were categorized into cluster group 1. Eighteen chicken isolates in cluster group 1 showed high-level genetic association (>95%) with 22 other human isolates. Additionally, six chicken isolates from cluster group 2 showed fairly high-level genetic association (>95%) with the other seven human isolates. The highest levels of genetic association in humans and chickens were seen with A5-PT21 (11 isolates), A2-PT1 (7 isolates), and B1-PT4 (6 isolates). The Pulsed-Field Gel Electrophoresis (PFGE) and phage typing provided conclusive evidence that human Salmonella infections are attributable to the consumption of contaminated chicken.  相似文献

Genetic variation of nuclear ribosomal ITS (nrITS) and chloroplast DNA (cpDNA) regions was investigated in Brasenia schreberi (Cabombaceae) to assess the population structure and to infer the evolutionary relationship among 12 populations distributed in South Korea. The combined sequence of the two regions was aligned to 2,069 bp, of which 28 sites were variable. In total, 20 genotypes were identified from 240 individuals of B. schreberi. Genotype diversity (Gd) and nucleotide diversity (Pi) on Jeju Island (Gd = 0.2511, Pi = 0.00012) were higher than those of the mainland of South Korea (Gd = 0.1358, Pi = 0.00005). The relatively low level of genetic variation of the mainland populations is associated with its higher genetic differentiation (G ST = 0.095 on mainland and 0.039 on Jeju Island) and human activities. Minimum spanning network analysis demonstrated that the investigated populations of B. schreberi were subdivided into two geographical groups: the mainland of South Korea and Jeju Island. In addition, analysis of molecular variation showed that a large proportion (73.55%) of genetic differentiation existed between the two regions. These results strongly suggest the presence of significant barriers to gene flow between regions. Thus, the management unit for B. schreberi should be carefully designed to avoid the potential risk that can results from the admixture of individuals from the mainland and Jeju Island regions.  相似文献

目的认识甲型副伤寒疫病区甲型副伤寒沙门菌的噬菌体型和脉冲场凝胶电泳(PFGE)型,确定噬菌体型和PFGE型之间的关系以及菌型的分布和流行率。方法采用沙门菌组合噬菌体和SpeI、XbaI消化染色体DNA的PFGE对来自玉溪市7县(区)的121株甲型副伤寒菌进行分型。结果121株菌存在4个完全噬菌体型或1个噬菌体型;用SpeI或XbaI消化产物分别得出以SpeI01、SpeI02或XbaI01占优势的5种或4种PFGE型,SpeI01型和SpeI02型分别占37.2%和57.9%,XbaI01型占95.1%。结论121株菌的噬菌体型与PFGE型之间无一致性联系,PFGE型的SpeI01和SpeI02或XbaI01是玉溪地区的主要流行型,采用SpeI和XbaI的PFGE是鉴别甲型副伤寒菌流行克隆的一项有用技术。  相似文献

Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) is a member of the genus Begomovirus of the family Geminiviridae, members of which are characterized by closed circular single-stranded DNA genomes of 2.7-2.8 kb in length, and include viruses transmitted by the Bemisia tabaci whitefly. No reports of TYLCV in Korea are available prior to 2008, after which TYLCV spread rapidly to most regions of the southern Korean peninsula (Gyeongsang-Do, Jeolla-Do and Jeju-Do). Fifty full sequences of TYLCV were analyzed in this study, and the AC1, AV1, IR, and full sequences were analyzed via the muscle program and bayesian analysis. Phylogenetic analysis demonstrated that the Korea TYLCVs were divided into two subgroups. The TYLCV Korea 1 group (Masan) originated from TYLCV Japan (Miyazaki) and the TYLCV Korea 2 group (Jeju/Jeonju) from TYLCV Japan (Tosa/Haruno). A B. tabaci phylogenetic tree was constructed with 16S rRNA and mitochondria cytochrome oxidase I (MtCOI) sequences using the muscle program and MEGA 4.0 in the neighbor-joining algorithm. The sequence data of 16S rRNA revealed that Korea B. tabaci was closely aligned to B. tabaci isolated in Iran and Nigeria. The Q type of B. tabaci, which was originally identified as a viruliferous insect in 2008, was initially isolated in Korea as a non-viruliferous insect in 2005. Therefore, we suggest that two TYLCV Japan isolates were introduced to Korea via different routes, and then transmitted by native B. tabaci.  相似文献

We used gene sequencing to determine whether clinical (sporadic, epidemic, and endemic) and environmental isolates of Legionella pneumophila serogroup (sg) 1 belong to specific lineages. A total of 178 clinical and environmental L. pneumophila sg 1 isolates, defined by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis and epidemiological data as sporadic, epidemic, or endemic, were analyzed for polymorphisms in five gene fragments. The fragments belonged to three housekeeping genes (coding for aconitase [acn], aspartate-β-semialdehyde dehydrogenase [asd], and RNA polymerase β subunit [rpoB]) and two surface protein genes (coding for the macrophage infectivity potentiator [mip] and the major outer membrane protein [mompS]). The phylogenetic tree inferred from sequence polymorphisms of the five genes identified two large clusters, one consisting of 133 poorly differentiated strains and containing two smaller clusters (10 and 2 strains) unrelated to each other and the other consisting of 42 strains. Clinical and environmental isolates could not be distinguished on this basis, and no link between genetic background and epidemiological type was found, suggesting that other factors are responsible for differences in pathogenicity.  相似文献

To address systematic issues pertaining to series Pilosa of Korean Chrysosplenium, the phylogenetic relationships of the 35 accessions of Korean Chrysosplenium taxa were examined using the DNA sequence data obtained from the nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions and the psbK-I gene of the plastid genome. The results from both ITS and psbK-I sequence data indicated that Chrysosplenium flaviflorum formed a well-supported clade that merits species status of the taxon. The ITS phylogenetic trees detected two distinct lineages in Chrysosplenium pilosum var. fulvum. Geographically, one lineage was widely distributed throughout the country whereas the other was confined to Gyeonggi and Gangwon provinces. The plants sampled from Jeju Island, which have been recognized as C. pilosum var. sphaerospermum [C. hallaisanense] exhibited no DNA sequence feature segregating them from C. pilosum var. fulvum [C. barbatum] distributed in the mainland area of Korea. The plastid DNA sequence data was not fully in concordance with the nuclear ribosomal ITS data and the current taxa delimitation. These results suggest incomplete lineage sorting or that plastid genome capture may have occurred during the evolution of some taxa examined in the present study.  相似文献

An epidemiological analysis of Salmonella enteritidis from a food poisoning was done using pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) of BlnI- or XbaI-digested fragments of chromosomal DNA of isolates. S. enteritidis isolates obtained from 19 patients had identical PFGE patterns. Therefore, a strain giving the same pattern was considered to be the causative agent of this outbreak. In addition, four isolates that had different BlnI-digested PFGE patterns were obtained from three patients, suggesting that the observed variations in PFGE patterns might occur as the result of some point mutations of chromosomal DNA during growth or from the existence of several S. enteritidis strains from various sources. Subsequent PFGE analysis of continuously subcultured strains supported the former possibility. These observations indicate that PFGE analysis on multiple numbers of colonies from each patient are necessary for the epidemiologic investigation of S. enteritidis.  相似文献

Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) types based on restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP)patterns with HaeIII were investigated in clinical isolates of Sporothrix schenckii in China. In addition to 23 mtDNA types (Types 1–23) so far reported, a new mtDNA type (Type 24) was found in this study. Type 24 was divided into two subtypes, Subtype 24A and 24B based on RFLP with EcoRV. Sixty-seven isolates in China consisted of 58 isolates of Type 4, 5 of Type 6, 1 of Type 5, 1 of Type 20 and 2 of Type 24. Based on the phylogeny of the mtDNA types (Types 1–24) constructed by estimating sequence divergences of mtDNA, mtDNA types clustered into two groups: Group A (Types 1–3, Type 11, Types 14–19 and Types 22–23) and Group B (Types 4–10, Types 12–13,Types 20–21 and Type 24). A total of 66 Shigella sonnei isolates from 1999 to 2008 in Seoul was analyzed for their antimicrobial resistance, carriage of integron, and the patterns of Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE). A high level of antimicrobial resistance to streptomycin (100%), trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (95%), tetracycline (94%), nalidixic acid (65%), and ampicillin (41%) was observed among S. sonnei isolates. Fourteen profiles of antimicrobial resistance were identified with the most common resistance profile being nalidixic acid, streptomycin, tetracycline, and trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (35%). PCR and DNA sequencing analysis revealed the presence of class 2 integron in all isolates, and class 1 and 2 integrons in 7 isolates. The class 2 integron carried two types of gene cassettes. One cassette array was dfrI, sat2, and aadA1 (91%), and the other was dfr1 and sat1 (8%). dfrA12 and aadA2 gene cassette was found in one isolate containing class 1 integron. PFGE was carried out to examine the genetic relatedness among isolates. All isolates except for one showed similar PFGE patterns (similarity of 80.1%). These results suggest that the S. sonnei isolated during 1999–2008 in Seoul have similar lineages that have not undergone evolutionary changes with time.  相似文献

Aims: Legionella isolation from environmental samples is often difficult because of the presence of heterotrophic‐associated bacteria that frequently overgrow when using standard culture (ISO 11731, 1998; NF T90‐431, 2003) methods. To improve Legionella pneumophila recovery from complex water samples (water from cooling towers, biofilms), we evaluated an immunomagnetic separation (IMS) assay using a monoclonal antibody raised against the lipopolysaccharide of Leg. pneumophila sg1 in combination with culture. Methods and Results: This study was conducted on 51 environmental specimens. The comparison between IMS‐culture and standard culture (ISO 11731, 1998; NF T90‐431, 2003) methods was made using ISO 17994, 2004 criteria for establishing equivalence between microbiological methods based on the upper and lower (XH and XL) values of the relative difference (95% confidence limit) and D as maximum acceptable deviation (value of the confidence limit). Conclusions: We found that the average performance of IMS culture was higher than the reference method. Undariopsis peterseniana is an endangered annual brown alga in Udo, Jeju Island, Korea. There is current interest in the commercial-scale aquaculture of this species for warm-water species development in Korea. Growth and maturation were investigated from January to December 2007 in their natural habitat. Zoospores were transplanted into an intensive seaweed culture ground in Wando, southern coast of Korea, for the mass cultivation of this species. Indoor and outdoor cultivation were conducted from June 2007 to May 2008. Mean production obtained from the zoospore seeding was 31.1 ± 1.5 kg wet wt. m−1 of culture rope during the cultivation period in situ. Transplanted F1 thalli in Wando had a length 1.7 times longer than their parents in Udo, and their maximal growth period changed from June (at 19.9°C in Udo of natural habitat) to April (at 14.0°C in Wando of culture ground). The relationship between optimal water depth for culture and underwater irradiance during the U. peterseniana cultivation was defined as: y = - 0.78 ×+ 7.67( r2 = 0.92 ) y = - 0.78 \times + 7.67\left( {{r^2} = 0.92} \right) . This study indicates that U. peterseniana could be successfully transferred to the northern coast beyond the original habitat in Jeju Island.  相似文献

Aims: To investigate the genetic diversity among S. Enteritidis isolates from different geographic regions to evaluate the relationship between phage types (PTs) and variable number tandem repeat analysis (VNTR) loci. Methods and Results: We performed multiple‐locus variable number tandem repeat analysis (MLVA) and phage typing on 245 S. Enteritidis isolates collected from sporadic human clinical cases in Michigan, Minnesota, New York, and Washington states between 2000 and 2007. Ninety‐four MLVA types and 22 different PTs were identified. Specific PTs were associated with a predominant allele for certain VNTR loci. Cluster analysis using a minimum‐spanning tree demonstrated two major clusters (I, II) and one minor cluster of isolates. PTs 8, 13a, 13 and 34 were significantly associated with MLVA cluster I. Phage types 1, 4, 6a, and 18 were significantly associated with MLVA cluster II. Conclusions: We found significant association between MLVA‐based clusters and PTs. Certain VNTR loci were associated with specific PTs and could serve as useful molecular markers for S. Enteritidis in epidemiological investigations. Significance and Impact of the Study: MLVA genotyping in combination with phage typing can be used for effective characterization of S. Enteritidis isolates. It can also be useful for tracing possible sources during investigations of sporadic and outbreak cases of S. Enteritidis.  相似文献
